How In the World Does Harry Reid Get Reelected?

We The People   ... "Or, do all of those years of experience give Reid an upper hand in dealing with the pressing issues of today’s America? If you ask Mary Landreiu (D-LA) she would probably say, yes. Or, would she?"

... "Reid even went so far as to call all the ads concerning Obamacare lies and those who posted the ads liars. It wasn’t until later that same day that he returned to the Senate floor and said, “I can’t say that every one of the Koch brothers’ ads are a lie, but I’ll say this…the vast, vast majority of them are.” Really?" ...
...
“The Judicial Watch list is alphabetical, so there is no way to tell whether he’s the most corrupt or 10th."

"But, Nevadans know that Reid routinely makes headlines for alleged “influence peddling,” securing tens of millions of dollars worth of deals for his sons and their clients, including a Chinese green energy group; securing $21.5 million to build a bridge over the Colorado River from a gambling town in Nevada to a town in Arizona where Harry owns 160 acres of undeveloped land; misappropriation of campaign funds; and an alleged $600,000 bribery deal and more,” according to The Blaze."

Demagogue Al Sharpton: The Democrat Party’s New ‘Civil Rights’ Leader and the Decline of Liberalism

Ron Radosh    "The Democratic Party no longer fights for actual civil rights for African Americans. It has become beholden to race hustlers and demagogues, those who inflame passions based on memories of the real racism that existed decades ago but which is no longer relevant to the present-day American experience.
You will find no better evidence for this assertion than the news last week, as reported in the Washington Post and St. Louis Post-Dispatch . " ...
...

"Rather than keep him out of his circle, Obama himself has embraced him — most likely on the advice of Valerie Jarrett, who conferred with Sharpton after the Ferguson shooting. Also joining in the praise of Sharpton is Governor Andrew Cuomo, Hillary Clinton, Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, and Reps. Charles Rangel and Jerry Nadler, both from New York City and mainstays of the liberal/left.

"As Mac Donald notes, New York City’s left-wing mayor, Bill de Blasio, set in motion the effort to remake Sharpton as a national leader."...
...

"Given that the Democrats have evidently decided to endorse the antics of the demagogic Al Sharpton, I don’t think we will be seeing any such statement in the following days. It is yet more evidence of the decline of centrist liberalism."

Just MSNBC the Mobius Loop    “ 'MSNBC’s Chris Hayes was reporting live from Ferguson, Missouri Monday night when protesters began throwing rocks at him,” Mediaite reports, complete with video.

"So just to confirm, an MSNBC newsreader received collateral damage during a riot whose flamed have been stoked by MSNBC’s Al Sharpton.

"On Sunday, fellow Democrat operative Andrea Mitchell lied on NBC’s Meet the Press that Sharpton is in Ferguson “on a peace mission.” I wonder if Hayes agrees with that assessment today.

"I hope the brass in NBC’s news division — once the home of grownups such as John Cameron Swayze, David Brinkley and John Chancellor — are proud of themselves today. But then, they probably are. As MSNBC President Phil Griffin told NPR in 2011, “I’m a big fan of the Reverend Sharpton. I’ve known him quite a bit. he’s smart. He’s entertaining. He’s experienced. He’s thoughtful. He’s provocative, all the things I think that MSNBC is.”

More evidence America is becoming a third-world country; the North Carolina election and the Left

NAACP Speaker’s Alleged Remarks: Let’s Create Confusion During the Nov. 2014 Election By Deliberately Misleading Voters
" ... a speaker at a recent NAACP conference in North Carolina urged audience members to mislead the NAACP’s own members into believing they do not need to register to vote in advance, or that they do not need to vote at their assigned polling place. Why?  The letter alleges: To create confusion and animosity during the upcoming mid-term elections in North Carolina, and to use the evidence of that confusion in the ongoing litigation between Eric Holder’s Justice Department and North Carolina and to show that North Carolina’s election integrity laws are discriminatory. From the letter:" ...
Related: Desperate Dems Turn to Fraud, Race-Baiting  ... "Here's the upshot.  NAALCP members are being told to go all over North Carolina and tell black people, "Hey, you don't need to register in advance.  You can register when you show up.  And go anywhere.  You don't have to go to an assigned place." So that when they get there and are refused the right to vote, they are then to raise hell, call the news media, which will be on call waiting for the call, and raise holy hell about how North Carolina is discriminating against black voters by not letting them vote, and not letting them register.

"Nobody is ever supposed to know that this is a strategy.  Nobody is ever supposed to know that this is being done on purpose.  The desired result is a bunch of God-fearing American citizens, African-Americans show up to vote and are denied the right to vote because they haven't registered, and they may be showing up at the wrong place.  They raise holy hell, they start shouting "discrimination."  This will fit in with an ongoing lawsuit that Eric Holder has against North Carolina for this kind of thing, discrimination. Create mass chaos and confusion and use blunt-force intimidation to relent and let these people vote." ...

Navajo High School Proud to Use Redskins Mascot

"The Washington Post has an article about Red Mesa High School on the Navajo Reservation in Arizona, which proudly uses the Redskins mascot for its high school football team. Most of the students, faculty and community support it, and don’t see a problem with it . Superintendent Tommie Yazzie says of the mascot name that “I don’t find it derogatory. It’s a source of pride.' ”...

"The Red Mesa school is not the only school in the country using the Redskins name. Far from it:"
There were 62 high schools in 22 states using the Redskins moniker last year, according to a project published by the University of Maryland’s Capital News Service. In addition to Red Mesa, two others are majority Native American: Wellpinit High School in Washington state and Kingston High School in Oklahoma.

The fans poured into the bleachers on a Friday night, erupting in “Let’s go, Redskins!” chants that echoed across a new field of artificial turf, glowing green against a vast dun-colored landscape.
Inside the Red Mesa High School locker room, Ted Nugent’s “Stranglehold” blared on the stereo as players hurried to strap on their helmets and gather for a pregame prayer and pep talk.
“ 'This is your time, right?” the team’s assistant coach demanded.
“ .Yes, sir!” the players shouted. “Redskins on three! Redskins on three! One, two, three, Redskins!” ...

File under "Need You Ask?"; Will the Democrats become ‘Obstructionists’ in a GOP majority Congress?

Hot Air ... "Would-be Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and his team are already telling the president to get ready with his veto pen. “In a Republican Senate, the difference would be the president would actually have to make the decision whether to sign or veto bills that would be presented to him — because more would actually be sent his way,” a McConnell spokesman told Politico.
"That would put to death a favored lie propagated by this White House and disseminated by a credulous press regarding the “obstructionist Republicans.” It is now a nearly involuntary tick among some members of the political media to refer to the GOP’s governing strategy as “obstructionism” and to rend garments in anguish over the historic inactivity of this Congress. Only in conservative media outlets was it reported that, as of August, 356 bills passed by the House sat languishing in the Senate. Some 200 of those bills were passed with bipartisan majorities and 100 with the support of 75 percent of the House Democratic conference.
"The “obstructionist Republicans” plotline was always ever a myth. The GOP did what all political parties in the minority do: they formed voting blocs aimed at frustrating the will of the majority they opposed. It was this temerity that led the Senate Democrats to rewrite the rules of the upper chamber in order to limit minority filibuster rights, a shortsighted tantrum that they will soon regret. "

All About Obama

141024-Obama

Bokbluster   "President Obama and Republicans have finally found common ground. They agree that the midterm elections should be about him.

"The president has been staying away from the campaign trail – at the request of his fellow Democrats. They fear his low poll numbers are bringing down the rest of the party. But that hasn’t kept him quiet. During a speech at Northwestern University he announced “I may not be on the ballot, but my policies are – every last one of them”. “That”, said former advisor David Axelrod, “was a mistake”. Republicans agreed and immediately produced ads to spread the president’s message.

"Just in case his base missed the message, Obama went on Al Sharpton‘s radio show to say that Democrats may be running from him but they are really with him and they support his agenda.

Still About Obama

"There may be a method to Obama’s Messiah Madness. While his approval numbers among women and latinos have fallen, over 85% of blacks still support him. The NYT reports that a huge black turnout is the only way Democrats can hold the Senate. Obama has said many of those voters may not even be aware there’s an election going on. So this could be about drumming up turnout, and transferring a little love to Democratic Senate candidates to keep that agenda alive."

at the Hilton Chicago on May 3, 2014.

"Corey Brooks pastors a church in Chicago's South Side. He also happens to be black. Recently, ABC News reported Sunday, he joined a group of black pastors who support GOP gubernatorial candidate Bruce Rauner over Democrat Pat Quinn. As a result, he has received death threats, hateful voicemails and has had to move his family to a safe house. Additionally, his church has been vandalized and large amounts of money earmarked for charities has been stolen.

"Brooks said that he received five threatening messages on Friday that he turned over to police. The messages, ABC added, were homophobic and contained racial slurs.

" 'We own you and you ain't got nobody that can stop us," one message said. "Nobody!' "

How Much Would A Big Mac Cost If McDonald's Workers Were Paid $15 Per Hour?

Forbes   ... "(Update, 2: Forbes contributor Tim Worstall argues that the answer to the question is simple: The cost of a Big Mac–at least to consumers–probably wouldn’t go up at all. Why? In order to remain competitive with rivals on price, the company, as economist Adam Ozimek pointed out earlier this week, would probably find a way to keep overall labor costs in check, most likely by reducing the number of workers and introducing more automation–think ATMs in the banking industry.)" ... Dr. Bittlingmayer described discussions on fast food wages as a symptom of a larger problem: the U.S. school system. “Low wages for adults are a sign that something didn’t go right in terms of education and work experience,” he said. “We’re not addressing the cause.”

Reading list about what's going on around us

Here's ISIS' Plan To Destroy American Apache Helicopters  ... "A US-led coalition of western and regional players has been bombing ISIS targets for weeks in an effort to check the militant group's lightning expansion. The American-led campaign has been almost entirely waged from the air, and the ISIS guide goes into fairly technical detail on how to shoot down enemy aircraft with a shoulder-fired man-portable air-defense system, or MANPADS*." ...   Read more:

Six years later: the clear connection between Barack Obama and the Weathermen    "Just before the election of Barack Obama in 2008, it was quite shocking to see that a forty-year old, seemingly forgotten radical group called the "Weathermen" was getting so much attention. Of course, Obama denied any connection to old Weathermen. Here's a quick history of the "Weathermen" and why it's relevant to a president whose entire campaign relied on a call for an undefined "change." Now, six years later, the change is coming much clearer into view. And it seems we now know which way the wind blows."
...
"Still, what is the Obama connection to these dedicated revolutionaries? It's perhaps ironic that all four former Weathermen terrorists today worked through an organization called "Movement for a Democratic Society." That organization was the parent to another one called "Progressives for Obama." They raised funds for Obama, promoted his candidacy, and helped to recruit activists to support him."  Now we see what the country is like when they are in charge.

CNN poll: Voters are angry

The Volokh Conspiracy:  Gross incompetence at the State Department?
Someone left State Department spokesman Jen Psaki grossly unprepared for a press briefing today ..., and she wound up disagreeing with the notion that a teenage Palestinian Hamas supporter with American citizenship throwing molotov cocktails at cars on an Israeli highway was “essentially a terrorist” whom the State Department was a bit too quick too mourn.

Victor Davis Hanson asks, Crimes of Exactly What?

PJ Media  ... "If we were to embrace the abjectly racist worldview of Eric Holder or Al Sharpton, where would the racialization of crime end? Who would decide which interracial crimes illustrated premeditated racial hatred — or criminal laxity on the part of the state — and deserved national attention? Which adjudicator could or would declare that one interracial incident was idiosyncratic without transcendent significance, but the other typical and thus representative of collective pathology?

"What exactly has this country stooped to, when our officials and public figures traffic in politicizing the end of human lives? We are becoming not just a sick country, but an amoral one as well. What Ferguson wrought will not end well."   Via Lucianne

Canada gunman prepared video confirming it was planned jihad attack

Canadian Parliament Sergeant at Arms Kevin Vickers got a five minute standing ovation from the House after he killed the Islamic terrorist who tried to shoot up the Chamber. He killed the guy with one shot. It'll be years before he has to shout twice for the House to come to order.   (Argus Hamilton)

Jihad Watch  ... "A gunman who shot and killed a soldier at Canada’s national war memorial and then stormed Parliament before he was gunned down had prepared a video recording of himself that reveals his ideological and political motives, police claim.

"The footage of Michael Zehaf-Bibeau, which is yet to be released, is said to confirm investigators’ fears that this was a meticulously planned terrorist attack.

"Royal Canadian Mounted Police Commissioner Bob Paulson said in a statement they have ‘persuasive evidence that Michael Zehaf-Bibeau’s attack was driven by ideological and political motives.’

"A detailed analysis of the video was being conducted and Paulson said they cannot release the video at this time."

So where DO jobs come from?

The presumptive Democrat nominee for 2016.   ... "She went on to state that businesses and corporations are not the job creators of America. “Don’t let anybody tell you that it’s corporations and businesses that create jobs,” the former Secretary of State said."

So Who Does Create Jobs?  ... "Well, maybe she should look to Texas.  Where, as this AEI report shows:
1.32 million new jobs [have been] added since the start of the Great Recession, compared to a net deficit of almost one million jobs for the other 49 states combined … The country, the president, and all of us individually owe a huge debt of gratitude to the state of Texas and to the oil and gas industry for helping support the US economy during and after the Great Recession. Without the energy-driven economic stimulus from the fracking revolution, and without the gusher of jobs in the state of Texas, there’s no question that the Great Recession would have been much worse and lasted much longer, and the jobs picture today would be much bleaker
