Zero New Jobs in America

Heritage  "And while the U.S. economy is creating no net new jobs, President Obama is offering no new ideas to fix the problem. In a speech to a joint session of Congress next Thursday, the President is expected to rehash the same expensive, ineffective policies he has tried since his presidency began. And it’s an economic philosophy that America has come to know all too well. The President hopes that through the sheer force of spending taxpayer dollars, he can turn the economy around. It isn’t working—and neither are nearly 14 million Americans."

Obama’s Jobs Speech to Offer More Failed Stimulus  "What he is going to say is open to speculation. Advance teasers coming out of the administration suggest he will once again call for the creation of an infrastructure bank to fix roads, bridges and airports — and create thousands of new jobs for unionized workers; push for an extension of the temporary employee payroll tax holiday; and, as he did in his speech Tuesday to the American Legion, ask Congress to approve some kind of tax credit for companies that hire unemployed veterans.

"Obama is also likely to call for another extension of unemployment benefits and increased funding for school construction and renovation. He may also, some analysts suggest, call for a temporary tax holiday that will allow U.S. corporations that do business in other countries to bring profits earned in those countries back into the United States at a reduced rate."
"All of this is interesting, but almost none of it would have the effect of stimulating the American economy to any real degree."

Victor Davis Hanson: Liberal Psychoses

Victor Davis Hanson  "But much of our public weariness stems from his loud liberal hypocrisy. Our president lectures about a certain sort of school he never has sent his child to. He talks about “folks” with whom he has never wished to vacation. Unlike a Truman or Humphrey, he sought office not to help those clingers with whom he might have wished to associate, but to feel good about wanting to help from a safe distance from those with whom he most certainly did not wish to mingle."

2012 Is the GOP's Election to Lose. Obama can't run on hope so why not fear?

The GOP's Election to Lose?  "Charlie Cook: "The economic data buttress the view that this presidential election is the GOP's to lose, although if Republicans nominate a candidate who has difficulty connecting with the independent voters between the two ideological and partisan 40-yard lines -- that is, the voters who ultimately decide elections -- they may well test that proposition." "

David Limbaugh  "Whereas Obama was once seen as far above the fray of petty partisan politics and unencumbered by the stale, corrupt traditions that hamstring Beltway politicians from delivering reform, he is now known to be as petty and hyper-partisan as the best of the party bosses of old." May 2011

Left paints the campaign as a religious war   "Put aside whether there is some bias against Christianity in these baseless charges, or whether liberals are proposing the kind of religious test for office that the Founders explicitly rejected. It has often been remarked that, given today's terrible economy, Barack Obama cannot run in 2012 on the theme of hope, as he did in 2008. With his record, he'll have to run on fear -- that is, on convincing voters that Republicans are just too scary to elect."

That race card again (Updated)

The Latest Climate Gore: You Knew This Was Coming   "So it has come to this: since these epithets haven’t worked, Gore is now comparing climate skeptics to racists. "

Wolffe: Opposition To Obama Speech Possibly Based On Skin Color  ""The interesting question is: What is it about this president that has stripped away the veneer of respect that normally accompanies the Office of the President?...." Since this was from MSNBC I belive we can assume these remarks went unchallenged.
Related update: A Racism Charge Without Evidence  "...Wolffe is a particular kind of journalist, one who also happens to be an Obama courtier. And with every passing day, it appears as if he views his role less as a journalist and more as hagiographer for the president and an attack dog against the GOP. All of which means Wolffe is earning his pay from MSNBC."

Rep. West threatens in letter to leave Congressional Black Caucus over tea party bashing  "In response to recent comments made by Indiana Democratic Rep. Andre Carson  and California Democratic
Rep. Maxine Waters  that denigrate the tea party movement, Florida Republican Rep. Allen West — a member of both the Congressional Black Caucus and the Tea Party Caucus — sent a letter to CBC Chairman Emanuel Cleaver Wednesday requesting that the body condemn such remarks."

Is Criticizing Colin Powell Racist?  "Apparently, USA Today founder Al Neuharth thinks so."....
"The irony here is if there is one thing Rice, Powell, and Cheney can agree on, it is that snide attacks like Neuharth’s reflect a poisoned attitude which has no place in serious debate."

Top 10 Outrageous Maxine Waters Quotes   ...."10.  Liar, thief:  For those liberals who decry harsh conservative attacks on President Obama, let’s hearken back to 2005 and listen to Waters’ comments on President Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney:  “The President is a liar.  Dick Cheney, the chief architect of the Big Lie, is not only a liar, he is a thief.” "

(Updated) NASCAR drivers give thumbs down to presidential visit

Photoshopped, naturally
Rick Moran  "As for Gluck's "patriotism" shot - is he really equating patriotism with being an extra in a campaign commercial for a candidate they don't support? Besides, I don't recall hearing that argument during the Bush years when dozens of lefties from every walk of life dissed Bush by either turning down invitations, or by showing up and "speaking truth to power." Politics is politics and what's good for one side, is good for the other.
"You go, boys."
Emphasis gleefully added. TD

This rebuttal to my TW article was posted on Facebook by Tom Dignan, Sr.
I thought about linking it to Mr. Dignan's Facebook page, but was not sure about the propriety of doing that.
"The drivers have major commitments with their sponsors that could not be cancelled, they did not "Snub" the President. All said they would attend if they had been given more notice, most have been ther[e] at least once before."
Thank you for this comment. TD

Jeannie DeAngelis: Barack Obama’s NASCAR Blues  "...sarcastically chiding the NASCAR no-shows, an irritated Obama advocate argued: “You’d think whatever photo shoots or sponsor appearances these drivers have lined up on Wednesday afternoon – if that’s indeed the reason – could be rescheduled. After all, this is the President of the United States we’re talking about here.” Ouch!"

Al Sharpton is MSNBC

Sharpton Becomes Full-Time MSNBC Anchorman  "Sharpton's public demagoguery helped feed a mob mentality that had lethal consequences in Crown Heights, Brooklyn (1991) and in Harlem at Freddy's Fashion Mart (1995). Sharpton to this day refuses to apologize for these and other campaigns. His credibility as a journalist should be questioned on that basis."

"I suggest Mr. Sharpton crack open the Bible he so often stands on to bear false witness against his neighbor, incite riots, and exploit the suffering of the poor. This is a man of God? Not even the ladies of “The View” buy this, as they didn’t with the Duke Lacrosse case."

deviantart.com
Sharpton’s Debut: The Reviews Are In and It’s Not Pretty  "Sharpton himself made it clear to the audience that this is what his show was going to be about. So we have a good year ahead of us leading up to election day with a nightly assault on conservatives by none other than the most successful race-baiting defamer available, Al Sharpton."

Al Sharpton's new MSNBC show 'PoliticsNation' isn't worth watching. Yet.  "If he can ever become comfortable on-camera and expand his horizons, Sharpton may eventually bring to MSNBC the combination of intellect and passion that has made so many of his press conferences over the years little wonders of argument, controversy, hype, entertainment, and enlightenment. Whether he’ll ever reach that point on PoliticsNation remains to be seen. Or, depending on the ratings, not seen at all."

Today, in 1939, World War II began with Germany’s invasion of Poland.

Big Government

Invasion of Poland, Fall 1939  "On September 1, 1939, Germany invaded Poland. The Polish army was defeated within weeks of the invasion. From East Prussia and Germany in the north and Silesia and Slovakia in the south, German units, with more than 2,000 tanks and over 1,000 planes, broke through Polish defenses along the border and advanced on Warsaw in a massive encirclement attack. After heavy shelling and bombing, Warsaw surrendered to the Germans on September 27, 1939. Britain and France, standing by their guarantee of Poland's border, had declared war on Germany on September 3, 1939. The Soviet Union invaded eastern Poland on September 17, 1939."

This followed the British-French appeasment of Hitler over Czechoslovakia  A dark day in the annals of pacifism and its consequences.  But here is a defense of Chamberlain's pacifism.

However Chamberlain's spine stiffened after Germany invaded Poland and he declared war. Many overlook this side of the man, but it was almost too little, too late. As it is almost always with anti-war democracies.  Can there be a parallel with Iran today?

Introduction to the Holocaust  "In the aftermath of the Holocaust, many of the survivors found shelter in displaced persons (DP) camps administered by the Allied powers. Between 1948 and 1951, almost 700,000 Jews emigrated to Israel, including 136,000 Jewish displaced persons from Europe. Other Jewish DPs emigrated to the United States and other nations. The last DP camp closed in 1957. The crimes committed during the Holocaust devastated most European Jewish communities and eliminated hundreds of Jewish communities in occupied eastern Europe entirely."

Obama Just Found Media’s Limit

Commentary Magazine  "At the Washington Post, James Downie reviews the minor kerfuffle blow by blow, and can’t quite believe what he’s seeing:"
•If the White House has spent months working to appear above the partisan fray – as they insist they have – then pulling a blatantly partisan stunt like this torpedoes all of that PR work.

•Pretending the timing was a coincidence has backfired with the press and pundits. Did the White House really think, when it sent Jay Carney to his press briefing, that people would swallow his line that the timing was “coincidental”?

•In the aftermath of the announcement, the narrative of the afternoon on cable news ran in part that the White House had not cleared the date with the speaker, with some outlets suggesting that Boehner’s office had only been given 15 minutes notice. If true, the White House was disrespectful and should rightly be admonished.

Krauthammer: Let’s face it, Boehner should have let Obama speak on the night of the GOP debate  "Simple logic: When your opponent’s in the process of making a mistake, get out of his way. Krauthammer’s theory is that letting The One address Congress that night would have made him look petty (or rather, pettier than usual) while setting up the GOP field for a sweet Obama pile-on at the debate immediately afterwards."

Shelby Steele: Obama and the Burden of Exceptionalism   "Post-'60s liberals, with the president as their standard bearer, seek to make a virtue of decline."
"But then again, the American people did elect him. Clearly Americans were looking for a new kind of exceptionalism in him (a black president would show America to have achieved near perfect social mobility). But were they also looking for—in Mr. Obama—an assault on America’s bedrock exceptionalism of military, economic and cultural pre-eminence?"

Where are the 2.5 Million Jobs, Mr. President?

Karin McQuillan  "We sat down together at the internet and did a Google search, 'stimulus job creation.'
"We found out where the number 2.5 million jobs' created or saved' comes from. It comes from a formula. The formula comes from a theory. The formula says that for every dollar the government spends, 1.5 dollars' worth of economic activity is generated, and presto, jobs come out. The economic geniuses working for Obama want us to believe that by definition, since they spent almost a trillion dollars in 'stimulus', they automatically created 2.4 million jobs. This is called the multiplier effect. "
....
"The 2.5 million jobs are invisible because they don't exist. The suffering of my relatives and friends and that of 25 million unemployed Americans is real, and increasingly desperate. It's time to follow the success in job creation of Republican states such as Wisconsin and Texas, and drop the unsuccessful ideas of this wastrel White House. Please, Mr. President, we can't afford another 2.5 million of your phoney jobs."

Life under Democrats: Food Regulators Out of Control

Heritage  "First Lady Michelle Obama’s obsession with “childhood obesity” has bothered many since it began two years ago, especially those who think that White House nagging of parents should be reserved for more pressing issues. Now it is getting more serious, with food regulators starting to infringe on the free speech rights of advertisers."....
"As Katz wrote, “Nutritional staples such as Cheerios, peanut butter, and yogurt are verboten under the proposed standards, which effectively constitute a government-regulated grocery list.”
"The regulations hit traditional favorites where it hurts. In turn, the free market and consumer choice is manipulated to fit a misplaced government agenda that doesn’t solve the problem."

More on this at Bloviating Zeppelin

Obama’s Tour of Denial and Blame   "It’s being billed as a listening tour—a three-state journey across the Midwest where President Barack Obama will hear directly from Americans about the economy and talk about his ideas for job growth. Instead, though, it has the characteristics of a political campaign swing, and the rhetoric the President has brought along for the ride is marked by a desperate effort to blame someone other than himself for America’s economic woes."

Regulatory Cost Battle Flares Anew Between Obama, House GOP  "In fact, a tally of regulatory cost ranges identified by Obama has a high-end total of $105 billion for four rules administered by the Environmental Protection Agency, and another $5 billion for regulations that would be administered by the Department of Transportation. The most expensive regulation on Obama’s list, dealing with health hazards from smog, is estimated to cost the economy between $19 billion and $90 billion."

Why Al Qaeda is Unlikely to Execute Another 9/11

STRATFOR  "It must be remembered that simple terrorist attacks are relatively easy to conduct, especially if the assailant is not concerned about escaping after the attack. As jihadist groups such as AQAP have noted in their online propaganda, a determined person can conduct attacks using a variety of simple weapons, from a pickup truck to a knife, axe or gun. Jihadist ideologues have repeatedly praised Nidal Hassan and have pointed out that jihadists operating with modest expectations and acting within the scope of their training and capability can do far more damage than operatives who try to conduct big, ambitious attacks that they lack the basic skills to complete."
But whatever terrorists do, there will be many who will insist the US government was actually the cause of it.

"The cartoon was posted on al-Shamouk, a genuine al-Qaeda-linked Web forum. But, Kohlmann and others note, it didn’t come through the official media arm of al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula, known as AQAP. "It didn’t even come from a well-known figure within the group.
Forums like Shamouk are basically huge bulletin boards, making it relatively easy for anyone to contribute."
....
"Raisman said they’re pleased that the cartoon has inspired fears about the recruitment of children.
"They are also probably quite happy for the publicity."

Doesn't this poster make you want to blow up an airplane?
