The End of the 'Wrong Side of History'

Political Cartoons by Gary Varvel
Middle East Forum  "President Barack Obama, in criticizing Russian leader Vladimir Putin's conquest of the Crimean Peninsula, described Putin as standing "on the wrong side of history." This curious and arresting phrase has become a frequent cliché among western liberals.
...
"The unspoken assumption behind all this, of course, is that being on the right side of history also means accepting the unmatched dominance of the U.S. in global affairs, and in turn the unchallengeable domination of the U.S. by people supporting the particular progressive world view of the president and his supporters.
"That is, Obama and his supporters use the word "history" to refer to themselves.
....
"The problem with all this is that in the last five years, many players on the world stage have learned that if "history" and "Obama" are synonyms, being on the wrong side of Obama is a not particularly uncomfortable or worrying place to be. So the threat of it has rather less impact than the president might hope or assume."

Would Stephen Colbert Get CBS Late Night Gig If He Did This to Muslims?

Debbie Schlussel  "If Stephen Colbert attacked Muslims the way he’s mocked Jews and Christians, do you think he’d have gotten the CBS late night gig? Think again. He’s rarely mocked Muslims, if ever. But he regularly attacks Jews and Christians. And here’s just a sample of something he does that Muslims would never tolerate, nor would CBS if it were about Muslims:

"Every year, Comedy Central’s Stephen Colbert sets up a 1-888-OOPS-JEW hotline to give Jews an opportunity to apologize to him in the 10 days of repentance between Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur. Mr. Colbert mispronounces the Jewish holy days, blows the “dead ram” Shofar and brings out his atonement phone. “Oh children of Israel, once again I look forward to your apologies to me. To quote your Jewish Pope Moses—’revenge is a dish best served kosher,’” he says."
....
"...  moderate ABC Family pilot about Muslims who kidnap their relative to Saudi Arabia was immediately canceled. But bigotry against Jews and Christians by Colbert is acceptable. And it will be acceptable at CBS. I won’t be watching."  Full article

WW II B17 Survival Story

Garfield's Last Stand   "B-17 in 1943 A mid-air collision on February 1, 1943, between a B-17 and a German fighter over the Tunis dock area, became the subject of one of the most famous photographs of World War II."
...
"An enemy fighter attacking a 97th Bomb Group formation went out of control, probably with a wounded pilot then continued its crashing descent into the rear of the fuselage of a Fortress named All American, piloted by Lt. Kendrick R. Bragg, of the 414th Bomb Squadron.
When it struck, the fighter broke apart, but left some pieces in the B-17." ...

This was also posted at Democratic Underground, a site hostile to private enterprise, wealthy people and pretty much any entity that makes our economy prosperous. As you may find to no surprise, they introduced this article with this remark:
I am pretty sure the govt built this plane and not rich dudes pursuing the latest deferrment scams for themselves and their children.
The history-challenged writer of the article seems not to be aware it was American industry that became the Arsenal of Democracy, supporting our allies against the Nazi war machine. When the government needs an impossible job done, they go to private enterprise.
This is NOT my father's Democrat Party.

Alan Caruba: Declaring War on Americans

One has to appreciate this well-balanced look at the incident that just transpired between the Nevada rancher and the forces of this government.

Warning Signs

... "Bundy should have paid his grazing rights fees. Other ranchers do. What he has done, however, is bring greater awareness the amount of land that the federal government owns in Nevada and elsewhere, particularly west of the Mississippi, and expose a regime that wants to intimidate Americans with force." ...
...
"If the U.S. didn’t own most of Nevada, Bundy would not need to pay grazing fees. Most certainly, his ancestors didn’t. The other excuse, that the government is trying to protect an endangered tortoise, is just part of the environmental movement’s efforts to keep energy sources from being available to all of us. Endangered species is pure fiction."

Exclusive: The Ultimate Source of Islamic Hate for Infidels

Raymond Ibrahim    "Who is ultimately responsible for the ongoing attacks on Christians and their churches throughout the Islamic world?

"Focusing on one of the most obvious nations where Christians are regularly targeted—Egypt’s Coptic Christians—one finds that the “mob” is the most visible and obvious culprit. One Copt accused of some transgression against Muslim sensibilities—from having relations with a Muslim woman, to ruining a Muslim man’s shirt—is often enough to prompt Muslim mobs to destroy entire Christian villages and their churches.

"Days ago, for example, after her cross identified Mary Saleh George as a Christian, a pro-Muslim Brotherhood mobattacked, beat, tortured, and slaughtered her.

"However, a recent Arabic op-ed titled “Find the True Killer of Mary” attempts to look beyond the mob to identify the true persecutor of Christians in Egypt. According to the op-ed:"  More here.

Read the details of her murder: Muslim Brotherhood Slaughter Christian Woman
... "Added the eyewitness: “Let me tell you, here in Ain Shams, we [Christians] know that every Friday is a day of death; that the day after Friday, Saturday, we’ll be carried to the morgue!”

"In fact, the overwhelming majority of attacks on Egypt’s Christians occur on Friday—the day when pious Muslims meet in mosque for prayers and to hear sermons."

"The significance of this fact can only be understood by analogy: what if Christians were especially violent to non-Christian minorities on Sunday—right after they got out of church?  What would that say about what goes on in Christian churches?
"What does it say about what goes on in Muslim mosques?"

60% of The American People Think Obama’s a Liar (Video)

Nice Deb  "A new Fox News poll shows that 60% of the American people think Obama is a humongous liar. (How could they not?)
About six in ten American voters think Barack Obama lies to the country on important matters some or most of the time, according to a Fox News poll released Wednesday.
Thirty-seven percent think Obama lies “most of the time,” while another 24 percent say he lies “some of the time.” Twenty percent of voters say “only now and then” and 15 percent “never.”
"Apparently,  some of those people are okay with it because polls consistently show a 50%-52% disapproval rating  for the president. Shouldn’t everyone disapprove of a lying president?

“ 'Yes my president lies. But-but-but — he has to fool the rubes in order to push our unpopular agenda. If the American people knew what we really wanted, they would recoil in horror” say 8%-10% of the far left base.

"The 20% who think Obama is mostly truthful either don’t follow politics or current events, are delusional, or are themselves, lying. The 15% who said “never”, wear special helmets and drool buckets under their chins, and need minders around the clock to keep them away from sharp objects.

"And 50-52% of us are mortified daily by what we see happening to our country.

"Here’s a discussion about the poll, and Obama’s most recent failures on the Kelly File:

... "According to Alex Tenzer, a Kiev native and one of the directors of the National Association of Immigrants from the Former USSR in Israel, said: "The Jewish-Ukrainian leadership supports Ukraine's new government, but it's hard to tell whether the leaflet is valid or simply a provocation."   Full article

Back Any Candidate You Want as Long as It's One of These Three

Ann Coulter   "As those of you who follow my hate mail know, I am opposed to running untested candidates against perfectly good incumbent Republican senators this election cycle. It will be a long time before Republicans have as good a year as this to win a Senate majority.

"Unfortunately, we have idiots doing the idiot thing, pretending to be "tea partiers," while challenging sitting Republican senators over fairly minor ideological differences.

"Anyone opposing an incumbent Republican for any reason other than amnesty is a fraud or an idiot. Right now, immigration and Obamacare are the only things that matter. Since every Republican voted against Obamacare, that leaves only immigration."
....
"The population of Texas is about 27 million. With amnestied illegal aliens allowed to bring in their cousins and brothers-in-law under our insane "family reunification" policies, the 12 million illegal immigrants already here will quickly balloon to 30 million new voters -- who happen to break 8-to-2 for the Democrats."
....
"If you don't think the Republican Party should speak exclusively for Wall Street, Silicon Valley and the Chamber of Commerce, then you have to support:
-- Dr. Greg Brannon, running in the Republican primary against foreign-labor cheerleader Thom Tillis, to challenge the Democratic senator from North Carolina, Kay Hagan. (Primary: May 6)
-- Frank Roche, running against the lying, amnesty-supporting Renee Ellmers in North Carolina's 2nd Congressional District. (Primary: May 6)
-- Dave Brat, economics professor, challenging the amnesty-addled Eric Cantor in Virginia's 7th Congressional District. (Primary: June 10)
....
"Republicans aren't at much risk of losing any of these seats, with or without primary fights. But we'll lose them all within a decade if Republicans like Tillis, Ellmers and Cantor aren't stopped."

Obama’s Whistling Lap Dog; Eric Holder plays the race card yet again.

Jonah Goldberg   ... "In case you didn’t know, in politics a “dog whistle” is coded language that has a superficial meaning for everybody, but also a special resonance for certain constituencies. Using dog whistles lets politicians deny they meant to say anything nasty, bigoted, or controversial."...

..."Now, bear in mind the audience. The National Action Network is Al Sharpton’s plaything, often providing the shock troops Sharpton needs for rent-a-mob protests, shakedown operations, and MSNBC photo ops. Holder didn’t say criticism of him and Obama is racially motivated, but the notion the audience (or the media) would take it any other way doesn’t pass the laugh test.

"Holder’s hypocrisy is stunning given that he once famously chastised Americans as being “cowards” for not talking openly about race. Who’s the coward now?"

FOIA Documents Show Lois Lerner Was In Contact With DOJ About Prosecuting Conservative Tax-Exempt Groups…
"Are Dems still claiming she’s the real victim?

"Via Daily Caller:
Former head of the IRS tax-exempt division Lois Lerner communicated with the Justice Department about the possibility of criminally prosecuting certain tax-exempt groups, new documents reveal.

According to the conservative government accountability group Judicial Watch, email exchanges between Lerner and Nikole C. Flax, the Chief of Staff to then-Acting IRS Commissioner Steven T. Miller, reveal there were discussions about possible prosecution of tax-exempt groups that were believed to have “lied” about political activities.
