More disgrace at NPR
PowerlineBlog "The cartoonist, Mark Fiore, obviously is doing what he accuses Tea Party movement members of --substituting name-calling for argumentation. Fiore is calling members of the movement ignoramuses. As Tim Graham puts it, "Conservatism is 'satirized' into a form of political retardation." It's doubtful whether Fiore has ever talked to any of member of the Tea Party movement. I have and can assure him that these folks do not lack substantive arguments against Obamacare. Fiore obviously doesn't agree with these arguments, nor would one expect an NPR commentator to. But it is disgraceful for him to pretend that the other side lacks real arguments."
We Report, We Get Pushed
Weekly Standard, John McCormack "As I walked down the street, a man who appeared to be associated with the Coakley campaign pushed me into a freestanding metal railing. I ended up on the sidewalk. I was fine. He helped me up from the ground, but kept pushing up against me, blocking my path toward Coakley down the street."
Fatima Shrine defaced with Muslim graffiti
JihadWatch "In the John Paul II Plaza, statutes of Popes John Paul II and Paul VI were painted. In the Pius XII Plaza, statues of Pope Pius XII and Bishop José Alves Correia da Silva were painted. The graffiti includes the words "Islam," "moon," "sun," "Muslim" and "mosque."..."
Miep Gies, Who Hid Anne Frank, Rest In Peace
DebbieSchlussel.com "I always paid extra attention to the Anne Frank story and what happened to those who helped the Frank family because my own Holocaust survivor grandfather, who was a concentration camp inmate at Bergen Belsen (where my mother was born), remembered seeing the gaunt, anorexic Anne Frank when he was there toward the end of the Holocaust. This woman, Mrs. Gies, was a saint on earth."
Memo to Steele: GOP will win
The Hill "Pessimism is no more attractive in a party leader than it is in a high school cheerleader. And in the case of Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairman Michael Steele, it is unwarranted as well. Despite his prediction, on Fox News, that GOP congressional control will not come “this year,” the Republican Party has a very, very good chance of taking both houses of Congress in 2010."
... U.S. Commanders in Afghanistan ‘Confused’ about How To Handle Captured Terrorists Now That Some Are Tried as Civilians
CNS "Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), just back from a fact-finding trip to Afghanistan and Pakistan, said he and other senators found operational "confusion” among U.S. military officials on how to handle detained enemy combatants."
Axelrod's battle plan for 2010
Ann Kane in AT "Isolate the target, demonize it, and destroy it. The ‘it’ here means Republicans, and the WH advisor intends to repeat the message that the Republican policies of the Bush years brought the U.S. to the brink of disaster. He will not talk about Congress ignoring the brewing mortgage crisis, or 9/11 and the cost of the war on terror because these are real reasons that contributed to our present day ills."
Obama's war on Inspector Generals
Ed Lasky in AT "The Chicago Boys play rough. They do not want the media keeping an eye on them (see Fox News) and they do not want federal officials monitoring them, either. So they manipulate the budget to cut one area where an oversight is desperately needed as trillions of tax-payer dollars are spent."
The Way Our World Works
Victor Davis Hanson "1) Each time you invoke Bush and proceed to trash him, just substitute al Qaeda. Try it today or tomorrow. Or better yet, close your eyes, take a deep breath and envision Sarah Palin, and as your blood pressure rises, say “Bin Laden.” Then go out to address the country on anti-terrorism. Your credentials as a mean SOB anti-terrorist fighter would soar."
It Took Obama 3 Days to Respond to Christmas Day Terror Attack, 30 Minutes to Respond to Earthquake in Haiti...
HotAirPundit "his is from Foxnews, President was informed at 5:52, this statement timestamp at 6:27." H/t to Weasel Zippers.
Unruly Passengers Disrupt Northwest Flight 243
MyFoxDetroit "The source says four men from Saudi Arabai were saying something in Arabic that alarmed four on-board Federal Air Marshals. The Marshals speak Arabic. A decision was made to stop the plane on the tarmac away from the passenger terminal and remove the men from the plane."
Bozell Column: The Media's Democrat Dialect
Newsbusters "If that trend continued, Edwards could win the nomination and be trounced by the Republicans when the truth of Edwards’ affair proved true. The sugary television stories of John and Elizabeth celebrating their love-filled marriage at Wendy’s look like fraud. So you can see why this would be downplayed. It suggests all of the media’s gooey Democratic love stories look, well, propagandistic and corrupt."
Playing Race-Card ‘Gotcha’
Jonah Goldberg, NRO " “Racism” is disagreeing with the Democratic party or its African-American base."
Code Pink To Muslims: ‘Help Us Cleanse Our Country’
AtlasShrugs "Under the banner of ‘anti-war’ activism, the radical group Code Pink is running banner advertisements on the English language version of the official Web site of a terrorist sympathizing group, the Muslim Brotherhood, one of which invites the Muslim Brotherhood to “join us in cleansing our country.” The ad is entitled ‘Arrest The War Criminals.’ Only problem is, Code Pink believes the war criminals are none other than George W. Bush and Co. And they’re actively recruiting radical Muslim terrorists to help them in their cause." Code Pinkie Jodie Evans is a frequent visitor to this White House.
POLITICAL CORRECTNESS AT ITS BEST
Boortz "You know how I rant and rave about the phrase "less fortunate." That is a favorite among the left, or "progressives" as they like to be called. (You do know that the "progressive" word first showed up as a replacement word for "socialist", don't you?) Well it seems that they are taking politically correct war on words to a new level."
Where's the brave art world that stood up to John Ashcroft?
ClassicalValues "According to the New York Post, they have a bad case of "jihad jitters." "The Metropolitan Museum of Art," the Post reported yesterday, "quietly pulled images of the Prophet Mohammed from its Islamic collection and may not include them in a renovated exhibition area slated to open in 2011." Why? "The museum said the controversial images -- objected to by conservative Muslims who say their religion forbids images of their holy founder -- were 'under review.'" "
Dearborn Muslim Activist Gets Death Threats For Holding Anti-Terror Peace Rally
GatewayPundit "Caller: “I will shoot you. I will put a bullet in your head.” Last Friday, Moughni led 150 Muslims protesting the act of terrorism on Christmas Day. The protest was held outside of federal court in Downtown Detroit while Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, 23, was being arraigned inside. "
The Tea Party Protesters Were There First
Jennifer Rubin in Commentary "The tea party activists have been written off by as rage-filled ignoramuses — just angry, unthinking riff-raff, the liberal pundits and many candidates have told us. But they miss the point. This is one of the more ideologically driven and, yes, idea-rich, populist movements in a long time. These people have a rather well-developed intellectual framework. As Barone explains..."
