Choice New Names For The Washington Redskins!!

Yid With Lid  "Washington DC council member David Grosso says the name Washington Redskins is “racist and derogatory,” and that “it’s time to make a change.” "
Grosso’s resolution suggests “Redtails” as a new nickname. He says it would honor the Tuskegee Airmen and allow the team to maintain its fight song and color scheme with a few minor changes.

...."If the DC City Council is so extremely PC that they want a name change maybe the team could pick one of these:
  • Thank God We're Not The NY Jets: OK a little long but it's a chant that should be heard in every NFL stadium.
  • An Animal Name?  Many Pro-football teams have animal names, the Dolphins, Jaguars, Cougars, and Superbowl winner the Ravens.  How about an animal associated with the nation's capital such as The Lame Ducks.
  •  Washington D.C. is the seat of the federal government, other teams have taken their names from federal institutions such as the former baseball team the Senators.  Football is a sport with large menacing athletes, so perhaps they could adopt the name, The Bloated Bureaucracy.
Tampa Bay has the Buccaneers, Oakland has the Raiders, why can't Washington have  The Taxers or even The Redistributors.

Whistleblower Lawyer: State Dept Spokesman 'Either Incompetent or Liar'

Big Journalism  "Attorney Victoria Toensing represents a whilstleblower from the State Department who is intent on telling the truth about the attacks on the US Consolate in Benghazi on Sept. 11, 2012. Yesterday she went public with the news that the State Department is refusing to grant her security clearance so that she can properly represent her client as the House Oversight committee prepares for investigative hearings on the attacks.

The Benghazi Whistle Blowers

"Yesterday we reported that Benghazi whistle-blowers were being threatened with the end of their careers if they talk to Congress. We also learned that the whistle-blowers' attorneys were not being given the clearance they needed to be able to advise their clients.

"During his press conference this morning the President pulled the perfect "Sgt. Schultz" claiming that he knew nothing about the threats/lack of legal clearance for the Benghazi whistle-blowers."

RickMoran; Administration threatens Benghazi whistleblowers   "When Rep. Trey Gowdy said over the weekend that new hearings on Benghazi by the Government Oversight Committee would be "explosive," he apparently wasn't exaggerating. There is also a special operations member who claims that the Obama administration could have flown military assets to Benghazi within 4 hours - plenty of time to deal with the second attack on the safe house.
"This is why the administration just wishes Benghazi would just go away."

The Benghazi open wound  "And as usual, Fox News is driving the media investigations.
Victoria Toensing, a former Justice Department official and Republican  counsel to the Senate Intelligence Committee, is now representing one of the  State Department employees. She told Fox News her client and some of the others,  who consider themselves whistle-blowers, have been threatened by unnamed Obama  administration officials

Benghazi is a huge scandal waiting to engulf the Obama administration if the eyewitness-backed facts of incompetence and negligence ever make it into public view. But when asked about it, the president, speaking to reporters on Tuesday, insulted the intelligence of the American public.

CBS also covers it!  "On Friday, House Oversight Committee chairman Rep. Darrell Issa, R-Calif., followed up with a letter to Secretary of State John Kerry, accusing the State Department of impeding or delaying the Oversight Committee's investigation into the Benghazi attacks by restricting access to witnesses; insisting that all documents, even unclassified material, be reviewed privately; and "requiring a State Department minder to be present when investigators review evidence." A State Department spokesman says the agency is in the process of reviewing Issa's letter."

Former Israeli Prime Minister booed in NYC for advocating Israel commit national suicide by giving up MORE land to its enemies for nothing in return

BareNakedIslam   "Over the weekend former Israel Prime Minister Ehud Olmert spoke at a conference organized by the Jerusalem Post in New York City. ObamaCare's Pre-Existing Condition Insurance Program; a "circular firing squad"

Galen Institute   "One of the most common — but highly inaccurate — criticisms of Republicans is that they don’t have a plan to fix the significant problems of the American health-care system. High-risk pools are one idea Republicans already have, and have been part of the House leadership’s reform plan since before Obamacare was enacted. Such pools are designed to hold down the cost of private insurance by removing the most expensive people from the normal market.
"This safety net makes sense politically, offers a solution that helps vulnerable people, and redirects existing Obamacare spending to actually helping sick people. But conservatives have to give up their circular-firing-squad habit."
Grace-Marie Turner, president of the Galen Institute, promotes an informed debate over free-market ideas for health reform.

"The Galen Institute has many plans to counter the march toward government-controlled medicine, and we believe we can shift the debate toward free-market ideas. Using our communications and coalition-building expertise, we work to:
  • Educate policymakers about the dangers that government control over the health sector pose to our economy and our society;
  • Reach out through the media to educate the public about the crucial importance of continued innovation to advance medical progress; and
  • Attract new audiences to our message through the use of our popular newsletter, our websites, and a variety of new media tools.

Redlines and the Problems of Intervention in Syria; An In-depth Analysis

STRATFOR "What the United States learned in Iraq, Afghanistan and Libya is that it is relatively easy for a conventional force to destroy a government. It is much harder  -- if not impossible -- to use the same force to impose a new type of government. The government that follows might be in some moral sense better than what preceded it -- it is difficult to imagine a more vile regime than Saddam Hussein's -- but the regime that replaces it will first be called chaos, followed by another regime that survives to the extent that it holds the United States at arm's length. Therefore, redline or not, few want to get involved in another intervention pivoting on weapons of mass destruction."

Obama’s Psychodramas

Victor Davis Hanson  "We know this much about this therapeutic and dishonest age: When the next horrific act occurs, one of two things will follow. Either we will rush to pass laws that will make us feel good but do nothing to address the existential crisis. Or we will be silent about enacting reforms of our existing flawed laws that might have prevented the horror, but would make us feel far too uncomfortable."

What of the US's redline on Assad's use of gas?

Political Cartoons by Steve Breen
Mideast Media Sampler – 04/29/2013 – Chemical weapons used by Syria, or not
It would be alarming if Mr. Assad crossed a line few others have crossed. Within one minute, nerve agents like sarin can trigger eye pain, nausea and vomiting, loss of bowel function, difficulty breathing and muscle weakness. But the case against Mr. Assad, so far, is thin. Experts say the best way to prove that chemical weapons have been used is to collect soil samples promptly at the site and examine suspected victims. That’s hard to do in a war zone, and, so far, Israel, Britain and France have not offered physical proof (Israeli officials cited only photographs of Syrians “foaming at the mouth.”) Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel told Secretary of State John Kerry on Tuesday that he “was not in a position to confirm” his own government’s intelligence assessment. Given such mixed messages, Mr. Kerry and other administration officials have said, that while sharing some of the suspicions of America’s allies, they simply don’t have the facts to make a judgment, much less fashion a policy response.
Syrian rebels: Official military document (Division 7) proves use of chemical weapons by Assad forces. Doc attached pic.twitter.com/ewoH7HH2g3

Obama’s non-response to Assad’s chemical weapons would encourage a nuclear Iran -  "This loss of credibility and face would have three immediate consequences:
1. Assad will not stop using lethal chemicals against his people. After getting away with it scot-free, he will use them against any time he feels his regime has its back to the wall.
2. Tehran and Pyongyang will take US inaction on the Syrian chemical issue as a license to go forward and develop their nuclear and other sophisticated weapons without fear of forceful interference.
3. At some stage in the Syrian conflict, Assad will transfer to Hizballah a quantity of chemical weapons and other advanced war materiel as a reward for the Lebanese Shiite radicals’ stalwart battle in support of his regime. debkafile’s military sources have learned that preparations are already in train for the transfer.

Caroline Glick writes that it is Time to confront Obama  .... "Perhaps our leaders are repeating these lies because they want to present a unified US-Israel front to the world. But the effect is just the opposite.

"What their statements really demonstrate is that Israel has been brought to its knees by its superpower patron that has implemented a policy that has enabled Iran to become a nuclear power.

"Indeed, the US has allowed Iran to cross the nuclear threshold while requiring Israel to pretend the course the US has followed is a responsible one."....

Voice of Lillpop   "Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee has never been one to moderate on anything. From her wild-left ideas to her voting record, the woman seems to believe that the voters owe her a life of luxury and posh living.

"Lee’s excesses apparently extend to her reckless use of taxpayer money to travel around the world. As reported at the reference:"
....The trip costs included $19,970 for transportation, $1,292 for per diem, and $2,385 for other purposes.
"$2,385 for “other purposes,” Representative?"

How to respond to being called 'judgmental'

American Thinker  "When we understand the motivation of the defensive person, we can mobilize strategies to respond in powerful ways. At least two approaches are possible: conciliatory or confrontational. With a conciliatory response, we empathize with the defensive person and try to establish a mutually respectful relationship. We realize that people are generally reactive when they feel vulnerable and threatened. A cornered beast bares teeth and claws.  And nothing triggers a reaction like shame and guilt.  Read more.   Hat tip to Christy Waters

Americans fear government more than terror

WND   "According to a pair of recent polls, for the first time since the 9/11 terrorist hijackings, Americans are more fearful their government will abuse constitutional liberties than fail to keep its citizens safe.
"Even in the wake of the April 15 Boston Marathon bombing – in which a pair of Islamic radicals are accused of planting explosives that took the lives of 3 and wounded over 280 – the polls suggest Americans are hesitant to give up any further freedoms in exchange for increased “security.”"

Obama Intentionally Hurting the Nation

conservativedailynews.com ..."Obama is willfully and intentionally doing as much damage as possible."

.... "The President rejected a proposal by the Senate Republicans to give the President more flexibility to pick and choose which programs should be cut to reach the $85 billion spending reduction over seven months mandated by the so-called sequester. That would have given him the opportunity to meet the requirements of the budget deal, without affecting the people our government is supposed to be serving. Keep in mind, that these legislatively  mandated reductions are not cuts in actual spending, but only reflect a 2.5% reduction in the growth of government spending.
 (Emphasis added)

But never forget these words:
But Obama rejected congressionally authorized flexibility in applying the reductions, and he opted instead to make the sequester as painful as possible. The Washington Times reports of emails to department heads that the administration intended to make good on its warnings of the “painful” sequestration cuts. According to the Times, the emails directed agency heads, “not to do anything that would lessen the dire impacts Congress had been warned of.”

Pulitzer Prize-Winning Idiot

Alan Caruba "What kind of idiot would write, “Until we fully understand what turned two brothers who allegedly perpetrated the Boston Marathon bombings into murderers, it is hard to make any policy recommendation other than this: We need to redouble our efforts to make America stronger and healthier so it remains a vibrant counterexample to whatever bigoted ideology may have gripped these young men.”

"“Whatever bigoted ideology”? This is what Thomas L. Friedman of The New York Times wrote on April 21."

Well, Mr. Friedman shares the same worldview as his employer  "Let’s take a look at the Times and how they eulogize a cold-blooded murderer:"

NY Times's Ludicrously Liberal Columnists Give It Their Worst in the Sunday Review  "Friedman then went to his solution to every problem in the entire world: An energy tax.
So what to do? We need a more “radical center” -- one much more willing to suggest radically new ideas to raise revenues, not the “split-the-difference-between-the-same-old-options center.” And the best place to start is with a carbon tax.

Coming in May, 150 years ago: The Battle of Chancellorsville

In his centennial history of the Civil War, Never Call Retreat, Catton titles his chapter on Chancellorsville, "The Darkness, and Jackson, and Fear".

This battle was not so much a battle of the Army of Northern Virginia vs. the Army of the Potomac as it was a moral struggle between Robert E. Lee and General Joseph Hooker. Lee had total domination over Hooker (as he did most other northern generals). Union General Darius Couch, one of Hooker's senior corps commander saw this at the time and expressed his contempt for Hooker in his report, which ended with these words:
In looking for the causes of the loss of Chancellorsville, the primary ones were that Hooker expected Lee to fall back without risking battle. Finding himself mistaken he assumed the defensive, and was outgeneraled and became demoralized by the superior tactical boldness of the enemy.
Here is a wealth of study links

The map below shows troop dispositions at the final stages of the battle when Hooker (blue) planned his retreat back across the river in defeat. Those of you interested in military tactics and strategy may see here signs of the moral dominance Lee held over Hooker. What does this map tell you?
What would Lee have done here if he commanded the blue formations instead of the red? What would you have done with the two Corps of Reynolds and Howard?

Stephen Crane's book, The Red Badge of Courage is based on this battle.

Soldiering:The Civil War Diary of Rice C. Bull

A soldier's account:  "Among the rank and file of largely uneducated Union Soldiers in the Civil War, Sergeant Rice C. Bull was an exception--a sensitive and perceptive man whose diary vividly describes the training, daily routine and combat that was the life of an infantryman. Among the memorable passages are those of the Battle of Chancellorsville and of marching with Sherman through a devastated Georgia to the sea."

Mark Steyn: Did we all fail the Tsarnaevs? Shame on America for making these young men do what they did.

OC Register  "The Tsarnaevs' mom, now relocated from Cambridge to Makhachkala in delightful Dagestan, told a press conference the other day that she regrets ever having gotten mixed up with those crazy Yanks: "I would prefer not to have lived in America," she said.

"Not, I'm sure, as much as the Richard family would have preferred it. Eight-year-old Martin was killed; his sister lost a leg; and his mother suffered serious brain injuries. What did the Richards and some 200 other families do to deserve having a great big hole blown in their lives? Well, according to The New York Times, they and you bear collective responsibility. Writing on the op-ed page, Marcello Suarez-Orozco, Dean of the UCLA Graduate School of Education and Information Studies, and Carola Suarez-Orozco, a professor at the same institution, began their ruminations thus:
"The alleged involvement of two ethnic Chechen brothers in the deadly attack at the Boston Marathon last week should prompt Americans to reflect on whether we do an adequate job assimilating immigrants who arrive in the United States as children or teenagers."

The Celebrity-in-chief; President Slams Media But Conan Softballs Obama At Lame WH Correspondents Dinner

Deadline Hollywood   "O’Brien’s best line of the night was comparing the relationship between Obama and House Majority Leader John Boehner  to a blind date between Anderson Cooper and Rachel Maddow. (“In theory they understand each other’s positions. But deep down you know nothing’s ever going to happen.”) Obama got in the nastiest media dig. Noting that CNN has “taken some knocks” – because of errors during reporting on the Boston Marathon bombings -  he said, “Fact is I admire their commitment to cover all sides of a story – just in case one of them happens to be accurate.” Obama even stabbed his liberal media cronies. He said saying seeing David Axelrod going to work for MSNBC was “a nice change of pace since MSNBC used to work for David Axelrod”.

....
Obama "also made this media comparison: “My job is to be president. Your job is to keep me humble. Frankly, I think I’m doing my job better.” He did receive a big laugh with this line: ”These days I look in the mirror and I’m not the strapping young Muslim Socialist I used to be.” Swaggering to the podium accompanied by rap music, he began by self-congratulating himself."

Obama jokes openly jokes about this! "David Axelrod now works for MSNBC, which is a nice change of pace, since MSNBC used to work for David Axelrod.  "Said Obama last night, making funny at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner. His comic routine lasts over 20 minutes. I just pulled that one line out because it actually almost corresponded to the truth about correspondents."

The Federal Aviation Administration is not collapsing but the White House is.

Political Cartoons by Henry Payne
Jennifer Rubin  "The latest FAA gambit was a somewhat desperate effort to revive the issue. Once again the president, seemingly with no back up plan, had no choice but to give up when the public became outraged and it was obvious that Democrats were trying to wield their inconvenience as a club against Republicans. Really, did the president expect any different result than occurred when he was threatening to lay off first responders?
"The president has been deeply unserious of late — about our debt, about the Syrian chemical use (not such a “red line” after all), about the identity of our enemy (jihadists) and about the depth of our economic woes. He would rather pursue a largely frivolous anti-gun bill or demagogue about the FAA. For the sake of the country, he needs to raise his game and start facing up to our real challenges."

School Counselor Fired for Alleged Racist Rant on Texas Explosion Victims

Big Government "The comment was posted under the Facebook account of public school counselor Karon Wright on the Facebook page for a local news station. The comment stated:
It's amazing how the 'whites' get angry when Obama speaks. Oh well....its most of the whites who is getting blown away. So they will soon be wiped from the earth. Lol
"The comment was not the only angry words from liberals directed at relatives of the killed or injured victims of West. Several local officials in the city and county have had voicemails left for them blaming the prominence of
“conservative” political ideologies in the area for the explosion, according to Toby Marie Walker, a county resident who also heads up the Waco Tea Party. “They blame a belief in free-markets for the explosion,” she said in an exclusive interview with Breitbart News."

She plans the Anthony Weiner defense:
WFAA Dallas reports  "She closed her statement saying her goal "has been and will always be to support my students in a professional manner."
"Wright said she has filed a complaint with Facebook about the comment, and hired an attorney."

Tom Brokaw's criticism of the White House correspondents dinner and the blowback you would expect

Big Journalism   "For those of you who might not know or care, the White House Correspondents Dinner is an annual orgy of narcissistic self-indulgence where the biggest stars in media, Hollywood, and politics gather to become even more corrupt and insulated than they already are. It is also a decidedly left-wing affair where the media hoot, holler, and applaud as Barack Obama attacks his political opponents, and do the same when Stephen Colbert rips George W. Bush."
...".Last year Brokaw surprised many when he made this statement about the event on "Meet the Press":
What kind of image do we present to the rest of the country? Are we doing their business, or are we just a group of narcissists who are mostly interested in elevating our own profiles? And what comes through the screen on C-SPAN that night is the latter, and not the former.
"This year, Brokaw doubled down with this statement to Politico:
But I think any organization… has to have a kind of self-policing instinct and what we’re doing with that dinner, as it has been constituted for the past several years, is saying, ‘We’re Versailles. The rest of you eat cake.’

"Look at what we publish,” he said. “Does it seem like it corrupts us?”
Over the years, Remnick noted that the New Yorker has published groundbreaking stories on torture, drone strikes and other sensitive topics in D.C.
“If one party can corrupt you,” he said. “You probably shouldn’t be in the game.”

Would You Sign to Rid U.S. of 1st Amendment? These guys would.

Conservative Daily News  "Clips from this video were shown on Fox and Friends Friday. The creator, Mark Dice, wanted to challenge the knowledge of Obama supporters by offering a petition to rid the US of its pesky First Amendment.
"Is it okay for those mean right wingers to criticize the president? Want to stop those haters?
"Watch as the majority of these naive voters easily sign away their rights.  They have no idea the importance our forefathers placed on free speech nor it’s role today.
"This will make you shake your head."
As he said, "This is so easy!"

What do you know about the First Amendment?   "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."

Syria's gas attacks and Obama's red line

Obama Not Rushing to Act on Signs Syria Used Chemical Arms  "But Mr. Obama is also trying to preserve his credibility after warning in the past that the use of chemical weapons would be a “game changer” and prompt a forceful American response.
" “Knowing that potentially chemical weapons have been used inside of Syria doesn’t tell us when they were used, how they were used,” Mr. Obama told reporters in the Oval Office. “We have to act prudently. We have to make these assessments deliberately.”
" “But I meant what I’d said,” the president added. “To use potential weapons of mass destruction on civilian populations crosses another line with respect to international norms and international law. And that is going to be a game changer.”"
White House Wants Syria ‘Red Line’ to Be Determined by UN
"Capitol Hill pounced on the Obama administration’s flailing rhetoric about red lines after a slip of admonition that the Syrian regime most likely used chemical weapons.
"“We cannot have a situation in which chemical or biological weapons are falling into the hands of the wrong people,” Obama said in August. “We have been very clear to the Assad regime but also to other players on the ground that a red line for us is, we start seeing a whole bunch of weapons moving around or being utilized. That would change my equation.” "

The Bush legacy; “He kept us safe.”

"Not quite right. With Bush’s legacy being reassessed as his presidential library opens in Dallas, it’s important to note that he did not just keep us safe. He created the entire anti-terror infrastructure that continues to keep us safe."

After that the Obama administration sought to prosecute those who had kept us safe.

Charles Krauthammer
"Moreover, Bush’s achievement was not just infrastructure. It was war. The Afghan campaign overthrew the Taliban, decimated al-Qaeda and expelled it from its haven. Yet that success is today derogated with the cheap and lazy catchphrase — “He got us into two wars” — intended to spread to Afghanistan the opprobrium associated with Iraq.

"As if Afghanistan was some unilateral Bush adventure foisted on the American people. As if Obama himself did not call it a “war of necessity” and Joe Biden, the most just war since World War II."
Emphasis added.

From Affirmative Action to Diversity

Victor Davis Hanson  "The idea of diversity, racial and otherwise, is deeply embedded in politics. President George H.W. Bush was not especially lauded for appointing an African-American Supreme Court justice, Clarence Thomas, apparently because Thomas was considered conservative. Liberal Attorney General Eric Holder was seen by the media as a genuinely diverse appointment in a way that a conservative predecessor, Alberto Gonzales, was not."

Prosecutors said that she knocked the knife from his hand, broke it in two, bit him in the hand, forced him to the ground and locked him between her thighs, the Daily Mail reports."....

UPDATE:  Lawmakers send air traffic controllers back to work  "The furloughs caused runway backups and angry outbursts from passengers stuck on the tarmac. Obama's hubris problem

Politico  "Tuesday morning, a peculiar announcement trickled out of the White House press office: President Barack Obama would be holding a moment of silence for the victims of the Boston bombings. At the White House. By himself. No press or other intruders allowed.

"Except the White House photographer.

"That Obama assumed Americans would want an iconic photo of him privately mourning the victims of the bombings was emblematic of a kind of hubris that has enveloped the president and his White House as the president commences his second term."

Obama leans toward this sort of thing:
"Talk radio bomb thrower Rush Limbaugh ripped President Obama on Sunday for his ego, health care reform effort - and a "photo op" with the casket of a U.S. soldier killed in Afghanistan."

Media Fawns Over Obama Saluting Caskets Of Fallen Soldiers From Afghanistan  " Our troops don’t need salutes at this point. They need leadership. And Obama is sadly bereft of that quality.
"And this isn’t asking him to “rush” a decision on Afghanistan. He campaigned on finishing the war there. He’s had months and months to consider the issue. There’s no reason he can’t make a decision now. Other than politics, which he clearly values more than the lives of our troops."

Beck to Obama: Come clean on bombing, or else   "TV and radio host Glenn Beck has warned the Obama administration it has until Monday, April 22, to come clean about the Boston Marathon bombing, or he promises to “expose” what’s being hidden from the American public.
“I thought I had heard and seen it all. I thought I didn’t trust my government,” Beck lamented. “Oh, no. No, no. There is no depth that these people will not stoop to. They have until Monday, and then the Blaze will expose it.” "
"What is Beck threatening to expose? Apparently it has something to do with Abdul Rahman Ali Alharbi, a Saudi national initially questioned by police following the bombing, but since released."
....
" “Let me just say this to those at the highest echelons of government,” Beck intoned. “We know who this Saudi national is. And it is in your best interest and the best interest of integrity and trust for the people of United States of America – it’s best coming from you, not coming from a news organization. It’s best coming from you. You have until Monday. We have information on who this man is. … We know he is a very bad, bad, bad man.”"
But do not write Beck off until you consider all the following:

"How much longer can the media cover up the jihad  motive?"

Could This Islamic Demand Be Next for America?  "The Obama Administration is in denial over Islamic extremism. It shows in almost everything they say and do. For example:
“Before the Boston Marathon bombings, the Obama administration argued for years that there is a big difference between terrorists and the tenets of Islam.
“A senior White House aide in 2009 publicly urged Washington to cease using the term ‘jihadist’ — asserting that terrorists are simply extremists. Two years later, the White House ordered a cleansing of training materials that Islamic groups deemed offensive.”

Bush’s “Decency” Was Always There, but Where Was the Media’s? (UPDATED)

Seth Mandel  "So yes, there was plenty of absurdity coming from the right and leveled at President Obama, and history will not look kindly on the disrespect and indignity of making the president feel compelled to show his birth certificate. Plenty of the attacks on Bill Clinton were–or should have been–out of bounds too. But ask yourself this: can you picture John McCain screaming at the top of his lungs that Barack Obama is a traitor to the country he leads, or jokingly suggesting he should assassinate Obama? And can you imagine political reporters writing four years after Obama leaves office that they never knew he was a personally decent man?"

UPDATE: W outclasses Barack and Bill, without even trying  ...."Just before we said our goodbyes, I asked her if she’d miss covering President Obama.

" “Not at all. He’s an inch deep. Bush is a bottomless chasm, a deep, mysterious, emotional, profound man. Obama is all surface — shallow, obvious, robotic, and, frankly, not nearly as smart as he thinks. Bush was the one.”
