Obama’s Finest Hour
Max Boot "Obama is an eloquent guy, but this is the first speech he’s given that I would class a masterpiece that deserves inclusion in compendia of the finest presidential speeches. The question now is whether he will live up to his rhetoric. That remains to be seen, but his speech is a significant step in the right direction. "
Obama's surprising Nobel speech
Thomas Lifson "Now that he is president perhaps these issues look different to him. If so, that shows growth in office and is a very good thing. But I can't be certain that is what lies beneath this somewhat startling rhetoric."
President Obama's Nobel Speech (his best yet)
Blackfive "This was far and away the most patriotic and proud speech about our country he has ever given and I applaud him for it. I walk though the rest of a memorable oration here."
Ribbons for Soldiers Banned on the Litchfield Green
NBC Connecticut "Leslie Caron has taken the lead in the fight to keep the ribbons in the center of town. She says that they have been there since 2003 and no other group has put ribbons up on the green. Caron also says that the she has taken care of the ribbons to ensure they are clean and presentable." Somehow I doubt clean ribbons are the issue.
Freedom vs. Slavery
Through Our Enemies’ Eyes
Clifford D. May "Enough about you; what did Mullah Omar think of Obama’s West Point speech?"...."The Taliban will put up a furious fight in Afghanistan and in Pakistan. If they also can bring the war closer to where we live, they will do so. "
Has War Really Changed? War always involves “a military solution.”
Victor Davis Hanson "If our leaders today could consult great generals like the Roman Scipio Africanus or William Tecumseh Sherman — who won what were once near-hopeless wars — they might receive the following advice:"
Obama Abandons Human Rights in Arab/Muslim World
Atlas Shrugs "The report also said that US policies were "wholly inimical to reform and human rights in the region," and accused President Barak Obama's administration of abandoning support for reform initiatives in the Arab world. "The last spark of life in the initiatives was quashed once and for all with the arrival of a new US administration," it said. Bahey eldin Hassan, the rights group's director, said the 12 countries surveyed were indicative of the region."
A DOJ lawyer smears his coworkers to cover up a politically motivated decision.
NRO "Such charges — charges that call into question their professionalism and ethics — may ultimately force the attorneys involved in this case to reveal the truth as whistleblowers. That would no doubt be even more embarrassing to the officials who dismissed the case. Make no mistake: They did so for political reasons having nothing to do with the merits of the allegations against the [New Black Panther Party]."
Barack Obama to miss most of Nobel Peace Prize events
UK Telegraph "His decision is thought to be fuelled by embarrassment over being given the award so early in his presidency and a wish to avoid a public backlash in the US.
But his decision to pull out of parts of large sections of the programme has been taken as a snub in Norway. Polls suggest the Norwegians are deeply unimpressed by his decision not to make more of the visit."
THE LATEST FROM COPENHAGEN
Neal Boortz "...these 15,000 delegates are not in Copenhagen to discuss the climate. Nope. They are in Copenhagen to discuss the redistribution of wealth around the world. They just have to figure out how to package it and justify it .. all in the name of climate change. "
READY TO RULE
Boortz , of courtz: "This nuance was lost on most of the American voters. People were so gunched up in the media-driven ObamaFrenzy that they didn't stop for a moment to think that in America we don't elect rulers, we elect leaders. Well ... sometimes. It is now clear that Obama meant exactly what he said. He was ready to rule. He does consider himself to be a ruler. Here's some evidence for you."
Journalists and Rocket Scientists
ChicagoBoyz blog “The enlightened newspaper not only ridiculed the idea that rocket propulsion would work in vacuum but it questioned the integrity and professionalism of Goddard.” The post goes on to say that “The sensationalism and merciless attack by the New York Times and other newspapers left a profound impression on Robert Goddard who became secretive about his work (to detriment of development of rocketry in the United States)…”
