Ben Carson: White House wanted apology for ‘offending’ Obama. Did David Colbert ever apologize to President Bush?

"The Obama administration at its petulant best.' Weasel Zippers

WASHINGTON - JUNE 19: U.S. President George W. Bush (R) presents a Presidential Medal of Freedom to Benjamin S. Carson, Sr. M.D (L), for his work withneurological disorders during an East Room ceremony June 19, 2008 at the White House in Washington, DC. The medal is the nation

Daily Caller ...“ 'He did not appear to be hostile or angry,” Carson writes of Obama, “but within a matter of minutes after the conclusion of the program, I received a call from some of the prayer breakfast organizers saying that the White House was upset and requesting that I call the president and apologize for offending him. I said that I did not think that he was offended and that I didn’t think that such a call was warranted.”

"Conservatives rallied around Carson last year after his remarks, made from a podium as Obama sat just feet away. In his speech, he railed against “political correctness” and offered specific ideas for health care reform."  More here.

Contrast that with the Colbert-Bush episode at the 2006 White House Correspondents Association dinner where Colbert took cheap shot after Cheap shot at President Bush. He knew Bush's class would ensure his safety. Before a liberal crowd, Mr. Colbert was like the little toady in "A Christmas Story" who has Scut Farkus behind him.

Obama's Pencil-thin Presidency

American Thinker   ... "Pens suggest importance and permanence. Great documents are composed with pens.  Pivotal moments in history are recorded in ink, as are inspiring presidential legacies. The references to the current president inserted into those biographies, however, are sketched in the erasable strokes of a pencil -- as is everything else Obama has ever produced or that his presidency has inspired.

"Pencils' output is flexible. Pencils design and transform and spin.  Pencils redefine, divide, draw distractions and smudge and distort and erase:  facts, events, and narratives.

"Penciled opinions can conveniently evolve.  Penciled statistics, measurements and books are easily cooked. Red lines marked by pencils can be erased and redrawn. Laws become mere “suggestions” and imply a “vast amount of discretion” in enforcement."
....
"Because Obama is a “master of words” -- one with the ability to control their meaning -- his pencil, aided by a vast media complex, is a tool that holds the potential for absolute power as executive, legislator and judge.
....
"Thomas Sowell put it a little clearer than Mr. Tribe when he observed about Obama: “One of the many ways of lying smoothly is to simply redefine words.”

Heritage
“ 'This is clearly in extremely poor taste against the backdrop of growing Russian intimidation in the Ukraine,” says Nile Gardiner, director of Margaret Thatcher Center for Freedom at The Heritage Foundation.

" ‘You have a key Obama administration official celebrating the Soviet era, an era in which tens of millions of people died at the hands of a brutal totalitarian system,” Gardiner adds. “It is simply disgraceful for the White House press secretary to be glorifying the propaganda of a monstrously evil tyranny.”
