We edge closer to nuclear war and this president renames a mountain

Michael Ramirez Cartoon
Renaming Mount McKinley Obama's Insult To Competence " President Obama says he's changing the name of Alaska's Mt. McKinley to Denali. Given President McKinley's record on racial healing, fiscal discipline, global power and disaster response, Obama's got some timing.

"Ohioans were right to take President Obama's unilateral changing of the name of the 20,200-foot peak to Mount Denali as an insult.

President Barack Obama will change the name of Mount McKinley, the top of which is the country's highest point, back to its traditional Alaskan title, Denali.

"Denali comes from the indigenous Athabaskan language and means 'high one', also the name of the national park surrounding the mountain.
"Russian settlers in the region called it Bolshaya Gora, or 'big mountain', before Alaska was sold to the US in 1867. "

McKinley’s Greatest Monument   "It’s a mystery to us where President Obama or his interior secretary, Sally Jewell, gets the authority to rename in Alaska a mountain whose name was ratified by Congress a century ago as McKinley. We can understand the Democratic Party’s interest, in that McKinley, a Republican, was a particularly fine President. He was, moreover, one of four presidents felled by an assassin. We can understand, too, the sentiments of Alaska, whose legislature has wanted to change the name. Where, though, does the president come off doing this by fiat?
. . .
"Maybe some day a Republican president will restore to John Fitzgerald Kennedy International Airport the name of Idlewild, which is the name us native New Yorkers use for the airport (Idlewild is still a permitted reference for the airport in the “Reporters Handbook and Manual of Style of the New York Sun”). We could see the logic of it in an age of hyper-sensitivity to local sentiments. But we would object were a president to simply rename the airport after Congress had been asked and decided not to act." . . .

Officers' Letter to Congress on Iran Deal Is Not a One-Day Story

"Out of respect to their experience, expertise, service, and commitment, we owe them a serious hearing.
"This is not a one-day PR story.  It is a profound and critical moment in our nation's history.  Every concerned citizen needs to read and share the letter with others.  This is urgent.  There is not a moment to be lost.
"Military officers use understated language in public, but I can be blunt.
"Here is my blunt summary of their letter:

American Thinker   "The most dangerous presidency in American history is now rushing to its climax.  This is the lethal moment that Bush and Cheney warned us about – the catastrophic moment when a fanatical Armageddon regime in Tehran will be guaranteed a path to nuclear weapons.  Some military experts are convinced they already have them.

"The Bush administration made many mistakes, but it was absolutely on target about the danger of terrorists armed with nukes.  For rational actors, nuclear weapons are a last-ditch defense, because in a nuclear exchange, everybody loses.  Irrational and suicide-preaching regimes are different, just as Jim Jones was different from your Junior League Club.

"Today, Obama actually wants to give the most destructive weapons in the world to Iran's genocidal regime.
He has simply switched sides." . . .

"Military officers save their bluntest language for private  conversations, and they should.

"But please be aware that in the eight points above, almost 200 retired flag officers of the United States have essentially accused American politicians and high officials of treason, as defined by the U.S. Constitution as "aiding and abetting" the enemies of the United States in time of war (US Constitution, Article III, Section 3).

"They came as close as possible without actually using the word." Read more

Time to resurrect 'Un-American Activities'?

James Longstreet  . . . "I was piqued by Jorge Ramos and his apparent pride in being an American citizen, yet also seemingly having a warm spot for his former employer La Raza and groups that cheer the “reconquest” of the American Southwest by citizens of a foreign nation.  Imagine any immigrant from another country promoting a takeover of another section of our nation.  “For what purpose” is the question that leaps to mind.

"These groups are engaged in activities that could be termed “un-American” by some, or maybe by many.  There are other activities, upon examination, that might just qualify for “un-American.”

"Encouraging the creation of “sanctuary cities” is nothing more than creating a shelter within the borders of our country and contrary to the law of the nation.  Is it not un-American to encourage the violation of the laws of the country, and is it not geometrically a greater un-American activity when the persons doing so are federal officials sworn to an oath contrary to their actions?" . . .

What GOP Can Learn From Trump: Straight Talk, Common Sense

"The two signature legislative reform laws that the Democrats passed during the Obama years — ObamaCare and Dodd-Frank — have failed."
 Political Cartoons by Gary Varvel
Investor's Business Daily   "Instead of wringing their hands about Donald Trump's intrusion and romp through their party, Republican candidates serious about leading America in the 21st century should take some cues and cards from the Trump hand and see if they can raise him on policy substance.

"Trump may be brash and inconsistent with some conservative values. But his candor about making America great again has enormous appeal, and his straight talk wins accolades and distinguishes him from the political class.

"Perhaps most importantly, Trump's natural disposition and ready willingness to break out of the straitjacket of political correctness is as refreshing as it is overdue and vital to redirect national priorities.

"The very concept of making America great is now foreign to a Democratic Party obsessed with race, gender and class identity, equal outcomes and expanding entitlement programs. This, together with the Democrats' lack of new ideas on creating jobs and growing the economy, provide an opening that Republicans ought to be able to drive a truck through." . .

The execution of Deputy Darren Goforth

“I’m tired of people calling these black activists,” he added. “They’re not black activists. This is black slime and it needs to be eradicated from American society. I need every law abiding person in America to stand up and start pushing back against this slime.”     Milwaukee County, WI Sheriff David Clarke

USA Today
Suspect in ambush of Houston-area deputy held without bond . . . " 'He runs up behind Deputy Goforth and puts the gun to the back of his head and shoots. Deputy Goforth hits the ground and then he continues to unload his gun, shooting repeatedly into the back of Deputy Goforth," Anderson said.
"Goforth was shot 15 times and a witness saw the shooting, Anderson said. She added that the shell casings match the .40-caliber Smith and Wesson handgun found at Miles' home." . . .

Sheriff David Clarke: Barack Obama Started This War On Police (Video) "August 29th, 2015 • Sheriff David Clarke placed blame for the execution of Harris County deputy Darren Goforth squarely upon President Barack Obama and former Attorney General Eric Holder. The Milwaukee County Sheriff said that Obama and Holder laid the groundwork for "this war on police" by supporting 'activists' who have disparaged law enforcement based upon a set of lies."

Whatever could have inspired the point-blank murder of a white sheriff's deputy?   "Cops in Houston, Texas are blaming the increasingly violent Black Lives Matter movement for the unprovoked killing Friday of a uniformed white sheriff's deputy allegedly committed by a black man who snuck up on the officer without saying a word and fired a gun repeatedly into his body until he was dead." . . .

DNC Passes Resolution to Support #BlackLivesMatter – The Next Day They Chant “Pigs in a Blanket”
"23 police officers have been gunned down this year, so far, in the line of duty.Black Lives Matter protesters marched in Minnesota this weekend chanting, “Pigs in a blanket, fry ’em like bacon.' ”

Life Coach Jaxi West: Texas Cop Killing ‘Is What Justice Looks Like’ . . . "One of the worst tweets I’ve seen is also the most sickening because it wasn’t vomited out by a notorious hatemonger like Louis Farrakhan or #FukYoFlag organizer “Sunshine” (who hosts a radio talk show in Texas where she and her callers, encourage listeners  to kill white people and cops to send a message about the killing of black people in America),
"No, this hate tweet was posted by a “life coach” from Los Angeles who goes by the name Jaxi West. Jaxi doesn’t want to be mean, but you know what? This cop kinda had it coming, y’all." . . .
. . .
"Jaxi had other sophisticated things to say on Twitter over the weekend.

Later she tweeted:
"To all you that are spending lots of your time writing hate messages to me and name calling - grow up. My tweet did NOT condone the killing."
Oh. OK then. Sorry.
