‘We’re in danger of forgetting’: congressman’s warning 80 years after Japanese American incarceration

 The Guardian

Congressman Mark Takano, whose family was forced into camps, calls for vigilance amid ‘nefarious nostalgia

"Eighty years ago, as anti-Japanese fervor gripped the US, the parents and grandparents of the California congressman Mark Takano were among 120,000 Japanese Americans forcibly removed from their homes and sent to desolate camps scattered across the west.

They were allowed to take only what they could carry. Everything else was sold, stored or left behind. Confined by barbed wire fences and armed military guards, their only offense was looking like the enemy.

“ 'They were incarcerated without any due process of law, never accused of a crime, never convicted of a crime but in an internment camp strictly because of their racial characteristics,” Takano told the Guardian.

"Two-thirds of those interned were American citizens, like Takano’s maternal grandparents and paternal grandmother. Many were American-born children, like his parents, far too young to pose a threat to national security, as was the spurious claim.

"What is remembered as one of the darkest chapters in American history was set in motion on 19 February 1942, 74 days after Japan attacked on Pearl Harbor, when Franklin Roosevelt signed Executive Order 9066.

"On the 80th anniversary of Roosevelt’s order, an occasion marked by events from Hawaii to Idaho that will include many witnesses, Takano is worried.

“What I fear we’re in now is a moment of forgetting,” he said.". . .

Jean-Luc Brunel, held on suspicion of supplying girls to Epstein, found hanged

 The Guardian

Former model agency boss accused of rape and suspected of trafficking minors has died in prison

"The former boss of a French model agency accused of rape and under investigation on suspicion of supplying underage girls to the late American financier Jeffrey Epstein has been found dead in prison.

"The body of Jean-Luc Brunel, 75, was reportedly found hanging in his cell in the early hours of Saturday. The French prosecutors’ office confirmed the report and said an inquiry had been opened into the exact cause of death, but early indications pointed to suicide.

"Brunel was arrested in December 2020 at Charles de Gaulle airport before boarding a plane for Dakar in Senegal where he told police he was going on holiday.

"He was officially put under investigation on allegations of the alleged rape of a minor and sexual harassment shortly after his arrest, and was put under a second investigation for the rape of a minor in June last year." . . .

In Texas, New Law Is Stopping the Steal

In Texas, New Law Is Stopping the Steal (townhall.com)

"Voter integrity is essential. It's popular. It's why for all the Democrats' yelling about how this, that, and the other is racist regarding new voter laws, these laws aren't going anywhere. Election security withstood an onslaught from Democrats' allies in the media. Then, it dawned on Democrats—gee, voter ID laws are popular.

"Yeah, they are—and always have been, fellas. Across the board, Americans support voter ID. This isn't new. The gaslighting began when Democrats, resigned to defeat, tried to say they always supported such measures. Wrong.

" 'Voter integrity laws is Jim Crow 2.0." "The GOP is racist."

"These tired and stale talking points are just noise that caused normal people to either shrug, change channels, or simply take some Advil and move on with their day. It's over. The Democrats' "Hail Mary" pass was to get their federal elections takeover bill through the Senate, which failed because they needed to nuke the filibuster. They didn't have the votes.

"With their primaries being held on March 1, Texas' new law is already stopping those who would steal elections. Scores of mail-in ballots are being rejected for not meeting voter ID requirements (via NPR): Weeks ahead of the state's March 1 primary, local election officials in Texas are sending mail-in ballots back to thousands of voters who had turned them in, citing issues with ID requirements created by the state's controversial new voting law. In Harris County — Texas' largest county, which is home to Houston — election officials said they'd received 6,548 mail-in ballots as of Saturday and had returned almost 2,500 — nearly 38% — for correction because of an incorrect ID. That's a far higher rejection rate than is typical. . . .

. . ."The high rejection rate should raise eyebrows. How many invalid ballots were counted in 2020? Who knows? Democrats have destroyed that evidence, but the real steal centered on the battleground states where Democratic secretaries of state unilaterally and illegally altered the voting laws without the consent of the state legislatures. Michigan and Pennsylvania specifically saw this occur in 2020. Are we shocked to learn that the state legislatures there are majority Republican? No way would these tweaks be passed, so Democrats did what they do best—cheat.

Biden Takes Questions From Reporters On Pre-Approved List…

 Weasel Zippers

Since 2021: Biden Using a Pre-approved List of Reporters to Call on Has Critics Asking One Question (townhall.com)   . . ."While this is far from the first time he’s relied on a pre-approved list of reporters to take questions from, and he makes no effort to hide it (in Geneva, for example, during a visit with Russian President Vladimir Putin, Biden said “as usual, folks, they gave me a list of the people I’m going to call on”), the tactic is raising the question among critics of who’s really in charge.

"Who is calling the shots behind the curtain?" tweeted Sen. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN).Others wondered the same."

"I believe there are more instances of the abridgement of freedom of the people by gradual and silent encroachments by those in power than by violent and sudden usurpations." -James Madison

. . ."Our system of justice, once the best in the world, is badly broken.  Criminals, even one like Quintez Brown, who tried to murder a mayoral candidate in Louisville, Ky., are bailed out by BLM, and good cops who kill career criminals are in prison.  One would think all such cases would place cops on the side of the folks who support them, who oppose defunding, who oppose vax mandates.  But, as we have seen in Australia, New Zealand, the U.K., Canada, and here in the U.S., that is not the case.

"Too many cops are choosing the side that uses and abuses them.  Go figure.  One can understand their anger at the ingratitude shown to them, but why align with the despots and not the people?  If the Australian, New Zealand, American, and Canadian police had stood up for the people they are tasked to protect, everything would be different right now.  There would be no protests, and the mandates would be over.  Our cops are brave, but they need to be a bit more courageous and be on the side of freedom."

Ezra Levant knows a thing or two about Canadian authorities and repression!  Ezra Levant: If the truckers formed a political party, it'd be the most popular in Canada | Israel National News - Arutz Sheva

Mr. Levant has sad experience with the dark side of Canada's authorities going back decades.   "That’s the word from the man himself, tucked into a 15-minute interview with Shire Network News on smiley-face fascism that’s smiling less than it used to these days. Take advantage of the slow news morn that’s upon us and listen to him describe just how astonishingly broad the human rights commission’s powers of discovery are. Thoughtcrime offenses aren’t the only Orwellian aspect of the system. Skip ahead to
about 13:30 and take it from there, paying special attention to what he says about denormalizing the calculated, chummy “how are ya” posture of the proceedings.

The main barrier to getting rid of the commissions: The perception that to do so would be to oppose “human rights.” A final, fitting Orwellian flourish."

‘You Have to Give Us Respect’: How Asian Americans Fueled the San Francisco Recall

 The New York Times

The landslide vote to remove three school board members cut across ethnicities and income levels. But Chinese American voters and volunteers were crucial to victory, organizers say.

. . ."Chinese voters were also upset by tweets by Alison Collins, one of the recalled school board members, that were unearthed during the campaign. Ms. Collins said Asian Americans used “white supremacist thinking to assimilate and ‘get ahead.’” She went on to compare Asian Americans to slaves who had the advantage of working inside a slave owner’s home instead of doing more grueling labor in the fields, using asterisks to mask an anti-Black racial slur. The tweets reinforced a sentiment among many Chinese voters of being taken for granted, underrepresented and insulted, people involved in the recall campaign said.". . .

Liberals Willfully Deluded Themselves on the Russia Collusion Hoax

Here Are the Liberal Media Clowns Who Totally Thought the Trump Dossier Was Grounded in Truth (townhall.com)

From MSNBC to Newsweek, CNN to The New Yorker, he has all of the greatest hits, some of which venture into tinfoil hat land. Alex Jones and InfoWars are dismissed for their conspiratorial nonsense. Well, there are some characters in this liberal media bubble that have significant platforms that are no different.

Replying to @DrewHolden360...@CNN made it a point to bring up the dossier early and often, and frequently led with the most explosive claims. They even attacked @DevinNunes for being rightfully dubious.

A new Manhattan DA promises a surge of crime, violent and otherwise

AfterMath - Home (terrellaftermath.com)
As for Manhattanites, I pity only the 43,000 or so who voted against Bragg (and, probably, against A.G. Letitia James and Joe Biden, too).  As for the rest, whether they voted or sat out the elections, they've earned what's coming their way.
Andrea Widberg  "Manhattan's newly sworn-in District Attorney started by making a very important announcement: He will no longer be enforcing the law. This is, of course, illegal and should subject him to criminal prosecution at either the state or the federal level. Of course, that won't happen. Instead, Manhattan will become a Mad Max-esque city, so rife with crime that, eventually, all normal life stops.

"When Alvin Bragg ran to be Manhattan's D.A., his slogan was "Justice for All."  In his campaign biography, he explained to the voters that he "has spent the better part of two decades in the courtroom, standing up to the powerful and fighting to get justice."  He spent his career "standing up for tenants' rights, civil rights and human rights."  Additionally, he "served as the first chief of a special unit that investigated police-involved killings."  These are all interesting statements from someone running, not to be a defense attorney or a plaintiff's attorney, but to represent the state of New York and the borough of Manhattan in actions against alleged criminals.

"If you're wondering how someone who clearly does not side with the institution he was supposed to represent ended up getting the job, look no farther than the George Soros connection.  The Color of Change PAC received $1 million from George Soros and, in return, Color of Change successfully spent the money to get Bragg elected.". . .

Durham Probe of Plot Against Trump Grows Damning: 'Someone in Gov Gave Them Permission,' DC Insider Says

Western Journal  "Speculation has emerged that the former Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton’s campaign’s tentacles reached into the Trump White House as part of the conspiracy to smear the 45th president.
"On Friday, special prosecutor John Durham rattled the political world with a court filing that alleged lawyers for the Clinton campaign hired a technology company to infiltrate computer servers and lay a false trail that would implicate the Trump campaign of having contacts with Russia, according to Fox News.
"Durham, hired to investigate the early stages of the Trump-Russia hoax and root out misconduct, has secured the indictment of Michael Sussman, a lawyer who represented the Clinton campaign, who has been accused of lying to the FBI. In November, Democratic operative Igor Danchenko, a contributor to a since-discredited dossier of claims concerning Trump, was charged with five counts of making false statements to the FBI.". . .   More...
