Democrat Brenda Lawrence Suggests Impeachment Exit Strategy — but Quickly Recants

"Rep. Brenda Lawrence (D-MI) stated Sunday that she no longer believes the impeachment of President Donald Trump is the route Democrats should take to winning back the White House."Lawrence’s comments on the House impeachment process came during a discussion with Charlie LeDuff on the Michigan radio show No BS News Hour. Instead of removal from office, Lawrence hopes her colleagues will seek to censure the president."Lawrence said:We are so close to an election. I will tell you, sitting here knowing how divided this country is, I don’t see the value of taking him out of office. I do see the value of putting down a marker saying his behavior is not acceptable.I want to censure. I want it on the record that the House of Representatives did their job and they told this president and any president coming behind him that this is unacceptable behavior and, under our Constitution, we will not allow it. . . .

More evidence that when you vote for a democrat to the House, you’re just voting for Pelosi. No one else there as a democrat is allowed to have any say in a goddamn thing going on there. What a sh***y party.

Elizabeth Warren: “Peaked Too Soon” Or Just a Bad Candidate?

Legal Insurrection

"Latest national poll shows Warren’s “support cut in half in the span of a month.' ”

"Things are not looking good for Massachusetts’ Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D).  Her presidential campaign, according to Politico, “nosedives in new national poll,” and the Washington Post is asking, “What happened to Elizabeth Warren?
"The numbers both in Iowa and nationwide are unmistakably bad for Warren.  In Iowa, Politico’s Natasha Korecki reports that Warren has lost “her mojo” and that Democrats are starting to wonder if she “peaked too soon.”
. . .
"We’ve covered Warren’s Medicare for All problems, and all of them have been self-inflicted. It all started when she announced that she was “with Bernie” on his untenable Medicare for All plan. Then came her empty promises that the middle class would not be taxed. She later released a revised plan that holds its own myriad problems, including compounded issues regarding who will pay for it.
"There seems little doubt that these issues have contributed to her nosedive among Democrat primary voters.  Democrat primary voters care about health care, and they care about beating President Trump.  In both areas, Warren’s unforced errors create doubt in their minds.
"She seems to have treated health care as an afterthought after she declared she stood “with Bernie.” She repeated her stance for “free” universal health care for every person in America (including illegals). She promised that billionaires would pay for it, and average Americans would save money and on.
"Only when pressed for details did she add a Medicare for All plan to her already massive stack of plans for broad-based, disruptive change across every aspect of Americans’ lives.  "And when it bombed with both the left and the right, she rushed out a new plan . . . that also bombed.
"It’s not exactly the sort of performance likely to beat Trump. Democratic primary voters see it and appear to be test-driving Mayor Pete who, not incidentally, has become a vocal opponent of Medicare for All.

“Hard to Think of Bigger Disappointment Than Obama” – AMAZING – Liberal Writer Dunks On Obama After His Attacks on Bernie Sanders

The Gateway Pundit

"Former President Barack Obama indicated earlier this week he would speak up to stop Bernie Sanders from becoming the party’s nominee should the Vermont Socialist make significant gains in the Democrat primary.
"This did not sit well with the grassroot Bernie supporters in the party.
"Leftist activist and writer Walker Bragman posted a series of tweets reminding Democrats of Barack Obama’s massive failures as a president.
"It is interesting, Bragman lists off a quick recap of Obama’s empty promises.
"Quick recap of Obama’s time in office:
– More wars
– Bailout but no accountability for Wall Street
– Surrendered public option w/ majorities in House & Senate
– Increased deportations & put kids in cages
– Prosecuted whistleblowers
– PRISM
– Expanded fossil fuel extraction
"It should be obvious for those paying attention that it is Trump not Obama who ended the wars, ended caging illegal immigrant children and respected the rights of whistleblowers.
"It was Trump, not Obama, who did these things." . . .

China Proves It: Obama Really Was A Sap  "Remember when President Barack Obama was running around telling everyone how he’d convinced China to get serious about cutting its carbon dioxide emissions? A new report shows that Obama was easily duped.
"Over the course of three years, Obama met with Chinese President Xi Jinping to, he said, agree to “climate targets” (in 2014), “lay out additional actions” (in 2015), and sign the Paris Agreement (2016).
"In typical Obama understatement, he declared that “we may see this as the moment that we finally decided to save our planet.”
"Of course, anyone who looked at what China was promising could see that it was a sucker’s bet. China said only that it would try to “stabilize” CO2 emissions by 2030, while the rest of the industrialized world dumped money and resources into “decarbonizing” their economies.
"Worse, even before Obama made his boast it was clear that China’s state-controlled emissions data were unreliable. In late 2015 it came to light that the country had far more coal plants that it had admitted, and as a result had been emitting a billion tons more CO2 that it officially proclaimed.  A report in Skeptical Science last year notes that CO2 emissions for China still “aren’t known with any accuracy' ”
"In other words, while Obama wanted the U.S. to actually cut emissions, neither he nor anyone else in the industrialized world knew what China was up to, other than what it claimed." . . .
And if the horror stories peddled by climate scientists and the environmentalists and the Greta Thunburgs of the world don’t come to pass – which is far more likely – we won’t have wasted trillions of dollars and impoverished millions in an attempt to “decarbonize” the economy.

Hong Kong Protesters Hold ‘Thanksgiving’ Rally after Trump Signs Support Bills
"Thousands of demonstrators in Hong Kong staged a “Thanksgiving” rally on Thursday evening in response to President Donald Trump signing two bills in support of the city’s pro-democracy movement.
"Demonstrators took to the streets shortly after the president signed the legislation. Some draped themselves in U.S. flags and expressed gratitude for the administration’s support.
“ 'The rationale for us having this rally is to show our gratitude and thank the U.S Congress and also President Trump for passing the bill,” student Sunny Cheung, 23, told Reuters. “We are really grateful about that and we really appreciate the effort made by Americans who support Hong Kong, who stand with Hong Kong, who do not choose to side with Beijing.” . . .

Trump surprises troops in Afghanistan on Thanksgiving

Washington Examiner  "President Trump surprised American troops in Afghanistan on Thanksgiving after leaving his Florida residence overnight.

"He visited Bagram Air Base on Thursday, delivering Thanksgiving greetings to U.S. troops deployed there in America’s longest-running war. This is Trump’s second visit to a combat zone. He previously visited troops in Iraq the day after Christmas in 2018.
"In the president's address to the troops, he announced renewed peace talks between the United States and the Taliban, claiming the Taliban wants "to make a deal."
" 'We’ll see if they want to make a deal," he said. "It's got to be a real deal, but we’ll see. But they want to make a deal. And they only want to make a deal because you are doing a great job. That is the only reason they want to make a deal. So I want to thank you and I want to thank the Afghan soldiers for — I’ve spoken to a lot of you today and you say they are really fighting hard. I was impressed with that actually. So I want to thank you."
"Trump has long wanted to withdraw from Afghanistan, and his visit coincides with the Afghan government's engagement in an extended stalemate with the Taliban."
"There is nowhere that I’d rather celebrate this Thanksgiving than right here with the toughest, strongest, best, and bravest warriors on the face of the Earth. You are indeed that," Trump added.
"He continued, "When I took office, if you can believe it almost three years ago, we were very depleted. Our military was depleted in terms of equipment. You see, right? They're all shaking their heads. We have all those brand new planes and brand new helicopters and brand new ships being built now, brand new powerful submarines' ."
"Too many people in the leftwing media appear to be waiting to pounce on anything they can to try make President Donald Trump look bad or paint him in a negative light, in my view.
"And most times they’re too impatient to wait for actual facts.
"So — they wind up going out with something and then having to correct themselves.
"Case in point: Leftist rag Newsweek printed a story painting President Trump to be some lousy, good-for-nothing, selfish jerk, who only golfs and thinks of himself and how his Florida Thanksgiving would be like some golden, self-indulgent extravaganza.
"The only problem is, the publication put out the story while he and first lady Melania Trump were on their way to Afghanistan to spend Thanksgiving with U.S. troops." . . .

"Here’s what Newsweek printed — and note how its correction was all the way at the bottom of the article:"

HOW IS TRUMP SPENDING THANKSGIVING? TWEETING, GOLFING AND MORE   He spent Thanksgiving Eve, from mid-morning to mid-afternoon, playing golf at his Trump International Golf Club. It was closed to the press, according to his public schedule.Trump’s past Thanksgiving meals have reportedly involved 24 dishes including turkey, stone crab, beef tenderloin, leg of lamb, scallops, ahi tuna martinis, lobster bisque and seven desserts. As with any other day of the year, Trump will probably be tweeting, or expressing his opinions in another way.On Thanksgiving Eve, Trump tweeted an image of his head on the body of Rocky Balboa, the fictional boxer portrayed by actor Sylvester Stallone in numerous movies.Updated 3:27 p.m. EST: Following the publication of this article, the president made a surprise, unannounced visit to U.S. troops in Afghanistan on Thanksgiving. [emphasis added]

Hong Kong Protesters Thankful for Trump and the U.S. This Thanksgiving

Townhall  "Pro-democracy protesters held a Thanksgiving Day rally to thank the United States and President Trump for signing bills into law on Wednesday that support the demonstrators in their struggle against Beijing.
View image on Twitter"The bipartisan bills signed by the president impose sanctions on officials in Hong Kong and China that are responsible for human rights abuses. The bills also require an annual review of the special autonomous status the U.S. State Department grants to Hong Kong during trade considerations. The revocation of that status is a powerful tool to incentivize support of pro-democracy groups in Hong Kong. The legislation also bans the sale of crowd control munitions to Hong Kong that have been used by police against the protesters.
“ 'I signed these bills out of respect for President Xi, China and the people of Hong Kong,” the president said in a statement after signing the bills. “They are being enacted in the hope that leaders and representatives of China and Hong Kong will be able to amicably settle their differences leading to long-term peace and prosperity for all.”
"On Thanksgiving Day, a large crowd of several thousand assembled to express gratitude for the show of support from the United States. The crowd sang the Star Bangled Banner as attendees waved American flags." . . .
As the protests have advanced, protesters have settled around five key demands from the Hong Kong government. First, for the controversial bill to be withdrawn. Second, an investigation into allegations of police brutality and misconduct towards the protesters. Third, the release of all arrested protesters. Fourth, the retraction of the characterization of the protests as "riots." And finally, the resignation of the current chief executive as well as universal suffrage for the chief executive and legislative council elections.
