The Womanhood of Hillary Clinton

There is this threefer at National Review.
"You can be a woman and do a hell of a lot better job running PepsiCo than Mrs. Clinton did running the State Department."
A Woman, Sure, but This Woman?  "A favorite National Review chengyu is “tallest building in Wichita,” which is derived from William F. Buckley’s response to Gary Wills’s claim that Lillian Hellman, the blacklisted Hollywood Communist, was “America’s greatest living female playwright.” That’s a lot of modifiers separating “greatest” and “playwright.” Hillary Rodham Clinton is without a doubt the greatest current female American major-party presidential nominee.

"There is some symbolic importance to Obama’s election and Mrs. Clinton’s nomination, to be sure. But black Americans are not today remarkably better off than before Obama’s inauguration, and it is not clear at all that Obama’s presidency did anything to improve race relations in the United States; there is in fact much more evidence that his habit of cynically and stupidly fanning the flames of racial resentment for his own political ends made things worse." . . .

My God, She’s Running as Hillary Clinton  . . . "Barack Obama was a blank slate for most Americans, so his status as the first black nominee and president was inextricably part of his identity. Hillary Clinton is a known quantity. She’s Nixon in a pantsuit. She’s been a tedious, grating, cynical, corrupt presence in our lives for nearly three decades." . . .
Clinton an Abortion Right Absolutist, Second Amendment Relativist "Hillary Clinton squirmed quite a bit today when questioned by Chris Wallace about whether she believes the Second Amendment protects an individual right to own a gun.  "She reluctantly conceded the point (if one believes her) but then quickly added that the right is subject to government regulation. From the interview:" . . .

The Hillary Mystique  "The weakest part of the 2016 Democratic National Convention was the speech delivered by the party’s nominee for president. Four nights of impressive stagecraft and at times moving rhetoric preceded Hillary Clinton’s paint-by-numbers, plodding address. It lacked the passion of Michelle Obama’s or Bernie Sanders’s speeches, had nothing of Joe Biden’s instinctual feel for middle-class language and anxieties, did not achieve the valedictory heights of Barack Obama’s appearance. Clinton did not speak from the political center, as Michael Bloomberg did, nor has she experienced loss like that of the Khan family, whose son was killed in battle in Iraq. Like many of the speakers at the convention, Clinton attacked Donald Trump. But her criticisms of the Republican nominee were not novel, or funny, or memorable." . . .

Valerie Jarrett was our First Female President

Daniel John Sobieski
. . . "Her power and influence extends to staffing by the White House to a virtual veto power over foreign policy decisions. Valerie Jarrett undoubtedly had significant input into President Obama’s Munich-like deal with Iran, which kicks the nuclear can down the road to assured detonation over Israel, which Iran continues to threaten to wipe off the map when it is not wishing “death to America”. Her influence over President Obama is legendary:
The Iranian-born Jarrett (her parents were American-born expatriates) is the only staff member who regularly follows the president home from the West Wing to the residence and one of the few people allowed to call the president by his first name.
. . .
"Noam Scheiber, writing in the November 9, 2014, New Republic, called Jarrett “The Obama Whisperer”, noting her power and influence and the fear she instilled in other staffers:
Even at this late date in the Obama presidency, there is no surer way to elicit paranoid whispers or armchair psychoanalysis from Democrats than to mention the name Valerie Jarrett. Party operatives, administration officials -- they are shocked by her sheer longevity and marvel at her influence. When I asked a longtime source who left the Obama White House years ago for his impressions of Jarrett, he confessed that he was too fearful to speak with me, even off the record.

Clinton's court shortlist emerges

The Hill

"Hillary Clinton's potential shortlist for the Supreme Court is coming into view.
"Clinton has refused to name names when it comes to the court, saying only that Congress should confirm President Obama’s nominee, Merrick Garland.
"Her general election opponent, Republican nominee Donald Trump, has taken a different tack, releasing a list of 11 possible nominees. That list, released in May, included several judges often found on conservative wish lists, reassuring groups on the right.
"Still, while Clinton hasn’t followed Trump’s lead in releasing names, advocates say her most likely choices for a high court appointment are already apparent.
"The Hill talked to three well-connected groups in Washington about Clinton's Supreme Court options should she win the White House. None would go on the record, citing the sensitivities surrounding the issue.
"But there’s broad agreement about who Clinton would be most likely to consider, not only for the vacancy already on the court, but also the additional ones that could open up over the next four years if liberals like Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Justice Anthony Kennedy were to retire.
"Topping the list, insiders say, is Garland." . . .

Email Hack Unmasks a Commander-in-Chief Who Can't Even Protect Herself   "The Washington Post describes the atmosphere of fear now haunting the Hillary campaign in the aftermath of an email dump showing how the DNC swindled Sanders. A team of writers notes of "the anxiety for Democrats: Are more leaks to come?":
. . .
"Amazingly, the DNC has compounded the blow by turning it into a talking point. They are acting as if Hillary were a child needing sympathy because her lollipop has been stolen by a bully, rather than a competent person in firm command.

"In so doing, they're admitting that Hillary cannot hold her own with the hard men of Putin's caliber. You don't elect a victim to protector-in-chief unless you want to be one yourself."

. . . "She has been outsmarted, time and again: the Russian Reset, the Arab Spring, Benghazi, and now in her effort to protect her information from threats she was warned against but refused to take seriously."
(Emphases in the original)

Julian Assange confirms Wikileaks has more material related to Hillary Clinton's campaign - and admits publication of bombshell DNC emails was timed to coincide with the convention  . . . "He spoke to . . . "Anderson Cooper on Friday night, just days after the publication of leaked emails plunged the Democratic National Committee into chaos.
"Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz resigned abruptly after the emails showed top committee officials appearing to favor Clinton over her Democratic competitor Bernie Sanders.
"Assange, who has spoken out against Clinton's policy decisions in the past and has made it clear he does not want her to be the next president of the United States, told Cooper on CNN that Wikileaks has more documents up its sleeve."
. . .
He did however admit that the publication of the committee's emails had been timed to coincide with the beginning of the Democratic National Convention, which took place in Philadelphia last week.

clintonThe Clinton Legacy – Ignorance, Arrogance, Belligerence  (Right)

Maureen Dowd's new column, "Thanks, Obama," is titled sarcastically.  . . . "The president made his vote-for-Hillary-or-face-doom convention speech only 22 days after his F.B.I. director painted Hillary as reckless and untruthful.
"In the end, Obama didn’t overthrow the Clinton machine. He enabled it."

The National Bolshevik Association

Background: THE NBA ENTERS THE BATHROOM WARS  "The 2017 NBA all-star game, which was scheduled to be played in Charlotte, will be played elsewhere. The league is moving the game to protest a North Carolina law. That law, among other things, nullified a Charlotte ordinance that required businesses to allow transgender individuals who have not taken surgical and legal steps to change the gender noted on their birth certificate to use restrooms based on their own gender identification. Businesses can still allow transgender individuals to use the facilities of the gender they identify with, but are not required to permit this." . . .

"The Field of Fight" by LTG (ret) Michael Flynn; a Book Review; Obama's "yes" men...and women

Americans should take solace in knowing that Lt. General Flynn is one of Donald Trump’s top foreign policy advisors.  Obviously, Mr. Trump is not surrounding himself with yes people, but those who would not sit quietly back if he believes a “President” Trump has the wrong strategy.

9781250106223Blackfive . . . "In his non-fiction book Flynn points out that President Obama will never utter the words Islamic Extremist or Radical Islam.  Flynn comments about the hypocrisy, “The President should clearly and unambiguously define the enemy that we face and the threat to our way if life.  It is radical Islam.  We did it while fighting the enemy of Communism and Nazism.  ISIS is a very determined enemy who wants to establish a global Caliphate.  This political correctness of not naming our enemy is dangerous for the country.  I am confident Americans can take the truth.”
. . .
The blame lies squarely in the hands of the Obama Administration, including Hillary Clinton.  In the book, Flynn gives high marks to President Bush while lambasting President Obama, “He (Bush) realized the war was going badly, that we were losing, and our entire strategy needed to change.  The mere fact that he recognized this and proceeded to make the difficult decisions he eventually made is a leadership characteristic our current president lacks.”
. . . "Directly commenting to blackfive.net, “There is no enemy that is unbeatable.  Even though President Bush was at the end of his administration he brought in the fresh leadership of General David Petraeus and Robert Gates.  We were able to reverse the strategy and come up with a new one to win.  Now we are at the end of President Obama’s term; yet, when 99% of President Obama’s advisors told him in to keep 10,000 troops in Iraq to stop the rise of radical terrorism he did not listen. He made a political decision rather than a decision for our national security.  This is a weakness in his leadership style.  His problem is that he refuses to recognize this strategy is not working and the enemy has grown in capacity.”
Image result for lt gen mike flynn"One of the problems is that the current President wants to be surrounded by yes men.  Flynn recounts in the book how he was fired in 2014 because he went before Congress and spoke of how to keep America safe.  When asked about this, he responded, “I was appointed by President Obama twice, as Assistant Director of National Intelligence and the head of the Defense Intelligence Agency.  I never met with the President once; imagine that.  Why not ask to speak with me about our differences of opinion and my suggestions?  To me, this is very disturbing.' ” . . .
ABC News: Read an Excerpt of Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn's 'The Field of Fight'  . . . "Then there are the terror groups, principally ISIS and al Qaeda. By now, we have seen so many horrific acts—from beheadings to crucifixions and burning captives alive—that many attentive people imagine them to be savages, barbarians. They are certainly barbaric, but they are driven by a systematic vision of how to conquer the world and impose their religious ideology on all of us. Did you know that ISIS has long worked from a detailed written timetable for global victory? It's a Radical Islamic Mein Kampf, and was discovered by a courageous young female American journalist in Pakistan in 2015. You'll get all the details." . . .

Many thoughts and comments on Hillary's speech

Hillary Clinton's speech with something for everyone . . . "(1) Her long list of what needs fixing may have left some viewers wondering if she was running against an incumbent Republican." . . .

The wench has a stench  "Watching the Democrats’ convention lionize Hillary Clinton gave me some sense of the way Moses must have cringed when he looked from Mount Sinai and saw his relatives and friends dancing around the image of a golden calf." . . .
"We can of course console ourselves with the thought that if not Hillary Clinton the Democrats would be gathering behind some other odious figure."
Only a Democrat could believe Hillary  . . . "All this from someone who just barely escaped indictment because the FBI's Comey chickened out.  Here is a woman who covered up the rape of Juanita Broaddrick by her husband, Bill, who will be known as the First Defendant if, God forbid, Hillary wins."

Hillary Clinton Acceptance Speech
"After a rocky first day, the Democratic Convention showed signs of the benefits of Hollywood backing.

"Hillary’s acceptance night was slickly produced, and obviously geared towards “humanizing” Hillary." . . .

“Hillary Clinton took me through Hell.”
Political Cartoons by Glenn McCoy

How Hillary’s scary speech revealed her mistake in wearing a white pants suit to her coronation.  . . . "This wasn’t a convention. It was a series of character witnesses for a woman with no character. It was an extensive apology for the Left’s radical agenda cloaked in fake patriotism and celebrity adulation." Shoulda worn red.

Hillary Forgets Herself  . . . "But if you need a reintroduction to Mrs. Clinton, we will oblige: She is an opportunist without anything resembling a conviction with the exception of her unwavering commitment to abortion, a “public servant” who along with her husband grew vastly wealthy exploiting her political connections and renting access to everybody from Goldman Sachs to Vladimir Putin, a petty, grasping, vindictive, meretricious time-server whose incompetence and dishonesty have been proved everywhere from Little Rock to Benghazi." . . .
. . . "the years in which Mrs. Clinton’s husband was occupying the Oval Office and bothering the interns isn’t much of an argument for investing her with the most powerful political portfolio on Earth."

From RedState: The Hillary Speech: A Decent Plan, Poorly Executed
" . . .This night was the first night the Democrats put together a lineup that had even a passing chance of connecting with the current mood of the country, even though it was somewhat lacking in big names. It was serious, it focused on national security, it landed brutal blows against Trump." . . .

MS. CLINTON RESETS  "I wondered what Madam Hillary and her cornermen would do to make sure she didn’t suffer one of her patented coughing fits last night in the course of the the biggest speech of her career. I would guess they must have done something, but I’m still wondering what.
"At the Daily Wire, Robert Kraychuk makes a related observation: “Clinton noticeably cleared her throat twenty-two times. In and of itself, it could be written off as temporarily being under the weather….She seemed to have deliberately timed her throat clearing during manufactured applause directed by her audience managers.”

Oscar Rodriguez: Flag Folding Speech Enraged Authorities for Mention of God

Maggie's Notebook  "Rt. MSgt Oscar Rodriguez, Jr. was known for more than the medals he so humbly wore. Our soldiers cannot say the word God and our FBI, CIA and police cannot say the words Islamic Terrorism, or as we’ve heard today, ISIS, even when quoting from a jihadi’s own words . Authorities removed actual quotations from official documents in the aftermath of Omar Matten’s attack in Orlando and released the sham to the public. See the videos below."

The flag folding speech:

The physical removal of Oscar Rodriguez:
"Members of MSgt Rodriiguez’s own command came to the retirement ceremony, assaulted him and removed him from the ceremony for daring to mention God in his speech. (Second video below)"

The dog that didn’t bark at the Democrats’ convention

Thomas Lifson  "If Sir Arthur Conan Doyle were covering the Democratic National Convention, he could title his account, “The Case of the Missing Claim.”  There was a conspicuous absence amidst all the praise heaped on Hillary Clinton.   Warner Todd Huston of Breitbart noticed:
After nearly three days of speeches and video propaganda one major part of Democrat Nominee Hillary Clinton’s life’s work has gone virtually unmentioned during the Democrat National Convention in Philadelphia. Even as speaker after speaker lauded Hillary’s career in public life, no mention of the Bill and Hillary Clinton Foundation has been uttered from the dais.
. . .  Huston attributes the silence likely to: “the wild success of the documentary film Clinton Cash.”

Lockdown: A Teacher's Thoughts

"I wondered as I sat alone in my car driving home later that day: since gun laws will stop no motivated criminal, why do they really want us defenseless?"
Mary Anne Marcella
"The "gun violence" and Sandy Hook speakers at the Democrat Convention reminded me of a recent event that took place in my own school.  Toward the end of the school year, an announcement came over the loudspeaker that I had never heard: "we are in lockdown.  This is not a drill."  A teacher stuck her head in my classroom.  "Lockdown.' "
. . .
"At that crucial moment, it occurred to me that the only way for me to have even a chance of protecting myself and my children against an armed intruder was with a gun."
". . .  But if the chance of tragedy is so slim, why even pass these laws?  "Because if it saves just one life, it's worth it."  This doesn't answer the real question: how am I to protect myself and those I am responsible for if left defenseless against a gunman?" . . .

Some DNC Delegates Chant, Turn Their Backs On Medal Of Honor Winner While He Lists Names Of Dead Soldiers

Weasel Zippers  "Every time you think the left hits its low point, you find it can always go lower."
To the left, the military is only a tool for societal tinkering. That our troops would actually kill those who wish to murder us by the hundred thousands is anathema to them.

. . . On the third night of the Democratic convention, a speaker finally brought up defeating ISIS and other terrorists — only to be met with boos from the crowd.
“ 'These murderers must be stopped,” declared former Secretary of Defense and CIA Director Leon Panetta. Cue the deafening chorus of boos, plus chants of “No more war!” from convention delegates.
"Mind you, Panetta’s speech was offering yet another broadside against Donald Trump’s inexperience. “This is no time to gamble with our future. America faces flash points and threats from around the globe,” the ex-SecDef warned.
“ 'Lies, lies, lies,” the delegates replied." . . .
One begins to wonder if this nation is no longer worthy of the Founders who crafted our Constitution with its Bill of Rights.

Krauthammer: What's the case for Hillary?

Charles Krauthammer
“ 'The best darn change maker” is not a sufficiently inspiring counter to Donald Trump’s anxiety-stirring vision of a way of life in peril."
Political Cartoons by Mike Lester

" ' In either case, Clinton has found no counter. If she has a theme, it's about expanding opportunity, shattering ceilings. But the universe of discriminated-against minorities -- so vast 50 years ago -- is rapidly shrinking. When the burning civil rights issue of the day is bathroom choice for the transgendered, a flummoxed Fishtown understandably asks, "What about us?" Telling coal miners she was going to close their mines and kill their jobs only reinforced white working-class alienation from Clinton.

"As for the chaos abroad, the Democrats are in see-no-evil denial. The first night in Philadelphia, there were 61 speeches. Not one mentioned the Islamic State or even terrorism. Later references were few, far between and highly defensive. After all, what can the Democrats say? Clinton's calling card is experience. Yet as secretary of state she left a trail of policy failures from Libya to Syria, from the Russian reset to the Iraqi withdrawal to the rise of the Islamic State."

Navy to Name Ship After Gay Rights Activist Harvey Milk

USNI News  "The Navy is set to name a ship after the gay rights icon and San Francisco politician Harvey Milk, according to a Congressional notification obtained by USNI News.
US Navy portrait of then Ens. Harvey Milk. "The July 14, 2016 notification, signed by Secretary of the Navy Ray Mabus, indicated he intended to name a planned Military Sealift Command fleet oiler USNS Harvey Milk (T-AO-206). The ship would be the second of the John Lewis-class oilers being built by General Dynamics NASSCO in San Diego, Calif.
"The Secretary of the Navy’s office is deferring releasing additional information until the naming announcement, a Navy official told USNI News on Thursday.
"Mabus has said the John Lewis-class – named after civil rights activist and congressman Rep. John Lewis (D-Ga.) – would be named after civil rights leaders.
"Other names in the class include former Supreme Court Chief Justice Earl Warren whose court ruled to desegregate U.S. schools, former Attorney General Robert F. Kennedy, women’s right activist Lucy Stone and abolitionist and women’s rights activist Sojourner Truth." . . .

DNC staffers waiting for Wikileaks to drop the other shoe

Political Cartoons by Lisa Benson

Hot Air  "The resignation of DNC chairwoman Debbie Wasserman-Schultz came shortly after Wikileaks published hacked DNC emails which showed the organization gunning for Bernie Sanders. Today Politico reports staffers are expecting more to come with some senior people having already been asked to prepare resignation statements:
. . . Now, all DNC senior staffers seem to believe they’re on the verge of being fired — and that’s before the next WikiLeaks release, which many fear is coming within days, and which DNC lawyers are bracing for. Several staff members have already been asked to prepare statements about their departures.
"Staff members were briefed in a Tuesday afternoon meeting in Washington that their personal data was part of the hack, as were Social Security numbers and other information for donors, according to people who attended. Don’t search WikiLeaks, they were told — malware is embedded throughout the site, and they’re looking for more data.
"There’s a certain irony at work here. Evidence suggests Russia was behind the hack of the DNC. Many Democrats, including those still at the DNC and people in the Clinton camp, have suggested it is part of an effort by Vladmir Putin to help Donald Trump win the 2016 election. But so far the biggest impact of the hack has been to dislodge the bumbling Wasserman-Schultz from her position at the DNC, paving the way for someone who will likely to do a much better job making the case for the Democratic party."

VICTOR DAVIS HANSON  . . . "Had Germany not declared war on the United States after Pearl Harbor, it is likely that America would have focused on Japan and left Britain alone to fight Germany — just as it had done since 1939. So why did the three Axis powers commit such blunders that would lose them the new global war in less than four years?"

Another night at the DNC

Main ImageWhat Republican Speechwriter Did Obama Hire For Last Night’s Address?   "If you managed to stick around for the entire Barack Obama speech last night, you surely caught the naked appeal he made to persuadable Republican voters not happy with Donald Trump as the nominee. The guess is you’re going to hear something fairly similar from Hillary Clinton tonight.
. . .
"And last night it was Obama’s mission to do two things – first, to sew up as much of that 10 percent of stray Democrat vote, most of which is Hard Left Bernie Sanders support that at the moment is split about halfway between Jill Stein and Gary Johnson (for all the Democrats who crossed over and voted in GOP primaries, very little of it appears headed Trump’s way at this point), and second to position the Democrats square in the conventional middle in American politics." . . .
How many times did Obama refer to himself while praising Hillary at the DNC?  "Skilled Obama watchers know that the real subject of any Obama speech is his own magnificence.  But in case you weren’t clicking a counter held in your hand to note every time the first-person pronoun appeared in a speech by Obama ostensibly about someone else, the good folks at Grabien put together a compilation video."  119 times

I predict even more robust demonstrations will occur tonight, when Hillary Clinton takes the stage…especially in light of the Wikileaks voicemails that have just been released."

Bill Clinton’s big convention lie  . . . "Tuesday night, in Bill Clinton’s sorcery, we saw the core of amorality that has corrupted both of the Clintons’ public lives for decades.  He actually believes that words have no natural allegiance to the truth.  You can say whatever you need so say, twist or omit facts to your end, and steal from others to mythologize self."

Roger Simon at PJ Media calls the speech "Sad, Surreal".
. . . "But I wonder. Surely they must know this marriage is a sham, those over thirty anyway. Are Bill's serial and compulsive adulteries just part of his charm? It can't be that I was the only one thinking about this. I bet almost everyone was, trying to make peace with it on some level." . . .

Not last night. There was no charm, no magic, and frankly no structure whatsoever to his speech. I felt like I was listening to the annoying passenger on the plane who keeps talking when everyone wishes the person would just shut the bleep up." . . .

Wikileaks posts hacked DNC voicemails

CNN  Wait! What? Did that actually say CNN? As in Clinton News Network?
Anyway:
"Wikileaks released a series of voicemails Wednesday from the Democratic National Committee hack showing donors plying top-level officials for favors, and one donor expressing outrage that Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders had won a say in the drafting of the party's platform.

"In one of the 29 voicemails released, a woman who donated $300 to Clinton called the party finance director Andrew Wright and said she was angry the party was acquiescing to Sanders by allowing liberal activist and prominent Sanders surrogate Cornel West to have one of 15 seats on the party's platform-writing panel.
. . .
"But most of the released voicemails amount to innocuous messages from one person trying to reach someone else. "

France was warned about terrorist who killed priest in church attack

"Petitjean and Adel Kermiche, 19, butchered Rev. Jacques Hamel, 85, after forcing him to kneel at the altar inside a church in the Normandy town of Saint-Etienne-du-Rouvray. They also forced another man to record the execution before stabbing the hostage, who survived."

Buzzfeed  "Abdel Malik Petitjean, 19, and Adel Kermiche, also 19, have been named by French authorities as the attackers."

. . . Abdel Malik Petitjean, 19, was named by a source in the Paris prosecutor’s office as the second attacker, according to the BBC. Adel Kermiche, also 19, was named on Wednesday.
"Father Jacques Hamel, 85, was killed after the two men stormed a church in the Haute-Normandie town of Saint-Etienne-du-Rouvray, close to Rouen, on Tuesday morning. Both Petitjean and Kermiche were shot and killed by French security forces as they left the building.
"An ID belonging to Petitjean was found at Kermiche’s flat when it was searched by security services following the attack. However, his body was too disfigured following the confrontation with police to allow immediate identification." . . .
