The Fawch: Season’s Greeter

Fauci Calls for Holiday Party Shutdown Three Days Before Christmas: 'Stay Away'  "Despite comments in October that suggested this should be a joyful Christmas of gathering with friends, Dr. Anthony Fauci now says parties should be off-limits and the unvaccinated should be left out in the cold.

"On Wednesday, during a White House COVID-19 briefing, Fauci — the White House’s guru on the coronavirus and the head of the National Institute of Allergies and Infectious Diseases — said the Christmas spirit should be shared only among those who are fully vaccinated, which in Fauci-speak means a booster in addition to a previous vaccination." . . .

Fear the Democrat Party

Dems dangerous when they see their power at risk  . . ."We are at a dangerous historical point: the left’s ideological and policy agenda is so transparently destructive, causing so much suffering and harm, so obviously at war with fact and truth that reliable surveys show Trump currently leading Biden in the popular vote by as much as 8%. That would translate into an electoral vote landslide. Were anything like that to occur, credible persons now openly advocate that such a result not be permitted to stand." . . .

But I hear far less discussion about the damage that's being done to the Democratic Party.  . . ."More ominously, the Democratic Party has allowed itself to be infiltrated by Marxists and other extremist groups whose intentions are expressly to dismantle the American political and economic systems. They have embraced activists from the antifa and Black Lives Matter movements, thinking that this will pull more voters to the party. The DNC apparently assumes it can exploit the protests, unrest and violence for its electoral purposes and then turn them off like a spigot if/when it wins the White House and Congress." . . .

California’s Zero-Bail Policies Have Been A Deadly Failure

A mayor in a California city could order police to go on an old west-style round-up of these lawbreakers, who would then immediately walk free out of jail…only to go out and do it again.

Jeffrey J. Clayton  "California’s state lawmakers recently failed to pass bail reform legislation, creating a case study in how fundamentally poor public policy will self-destruct if it’s exposed for what it is. On the face of it, there is a logic to the continuing argument that cash-based bail is unfair to people who have little or no money. But that simplistic premise is deeply flawed and has led to a huge increase in violent crime in California, as well as in other places that implemented the policy. Unfortunately, the grim repercussions are not just statistical. There is a human face to criminal justice reform gone bad—and ultimately it tripped up the legislators behind the latest attempt at force-feeding bail reform to the Golden State’s citizens.

"Even the staunchest bail reform advocates were compelled to take a step back after the horrific events of September 6. In Sacramento, Troy Davis, a convicted felon, broke into 61-year-old Kate Tibbitts’s home, raped and murdered her, slaughtered her two dogs, and then set the house ablaze. The night before, Davis had exposed himself on a neighbor’s porch.

"When it emerged that Davis had been released on zero bail, the impetus for a bail reform bill that was steamrolling its way through the California Senate immediately screeched to a halt. But is that the end of the story or is there another domino waiting to fall?" . . .

San Francisco dad of slain 6-year-old slams liberal DA Chesa Boudin: Making 'justice system a complete joke'  . . ."But the slain boy’s father, Jason Young, said the guilty verdict was no victory and has left his family "devastated" because Boudin ran on the campaign promise of never allowing an offender who commits a crime when he or she is under 18 to be tried as an adult – no matter how heinous the offense might be." . . .

Bail fund promoted by Kamala Harris helped free serial domestic abusers   "Two of the men face felony charges for allegedly strangling women in their own homes, and another stands accused of beating his girlfriend upwards of six times with a closed fist."

San Francisco DA Upset at Mayor for Wanting to Crack Down on Crime  "Liberal San Francisco Mayor London Breed announced earlier this month she’s cracking down on the crime spike her policies created. But that move has angered Chesa Boudin, San Francisco’s even further left district attorney.". . .

"It's no surprise that Chesa Boudin opposes this—cracking down on crime goes against everything a Soros prosecutor stands for," [Sen. Tom Cotton] tweeted. "Every single Soros prosecutor needs to be recalled, removed, and replaced."

The Gathering Cloud of Political Madness; This is a way station on the rockslide of the Trump-hate myth.

 Conrad Black

No greater gift to herd immunity from the COVID family of viruses could have been sought or imagined. Yet it is being used to justify a renewed campaign to transform Americans into a nation of cowardly, paranoid, and hypochondriacal moles.

"The year is ending in an increasing cloud of political madness. The January 6 commission and Trump-hating nightly media commentators professed to find in the fact that Donald Trump’s family and Fox News Trump personalities Laura Ingraham and Sean Hannity warned the then-president of backlash if he didn’t take a strong line against the trespassing and vandalism at the U.S. Capitol on January 6, proof that the melee was a pre-planned insurrection and that Trump’s complaints of election fraud were unfounded. (It confirms merely that like almost everyone, they disapproved of the attack on the Capitol, but did not deny Trump’s and his law-abiding supporters’ grievance.)

"Hillary Clinton choked back tears and sobs last week as she read the victory statement she had prepared to give on election night in 2016. The most inappropriately named person in the Western world, Joy Reid, accused Elon Musk of cultural theft against the African-American community by referring to Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) as “Karen”—the one-word summary of airheaded, self-indulgent, and overprivileged white women often used in black culture. Woke black America has now taken ownership of the English language, as well as the right to smash and grab, and otherwise steal what they want.

"Joe Biden and the Democrats are embarking on a new campaign of terror over the Omicron variant, (“a winter of . . . death” for the unvaccinated), which is, in fact, a Christmas blessing. There are fewer than 10 fatalities reported in the entire world as a result of this new variant on COVID. It is like a conventional flu, except that 90 percent of the people afflicted have mild or no symptoms and all of those afflicted benefit from the reinforcement their immune systems are getting against all variants of the disease. No greater gift to herd immunity from the COVID family of viruses could have been sought or imagined. Yet it is being used to justify a renewed campaign to transform Americans into a nation of cowardly, paranoid, and hypochondriacal moles." . . .    What can be said about Joe that does not apply to Hillary Clinton?

A simple question about Build Back Better: What’s in it for West Virginia?

A simple question about Build Back Better: What’s in it for West Virginia?  By Charles Lane    "Here’s a quick review of American politics 101: Congressional districts elect one member of the House of Representatives each; states elect two senators each. House members represent their districts; senators, their states.

"In those governmental units, groups that speak out, often based on economic interests, get the most attention from politicians. Otherwise, the latter may have trouble getting reelected.

"Elementary as they are, the above concepts bear repeating because at the moment quite a few people in Washington, Democrats especially, have completely forgotten them.

"Or so it would seem, judging by the fury being vented at Sen. Joe Manchin III (D-W.Va.) after he said he will not support the $2.4 trillion Build Back Better bill. Manchin stands accused by Rep. Pramila Jayapal (D-Wash.) of a “lack of integrity.” Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) said Manchin “doesn’t have the courage to do the right thing.”

"What Manchin is actually guilty of — if anything — is representing his state, including, to some extent, its special interests." . . .
