The Worst O-limp-ics Ever

Intellectual Takeout Michelle Malkin    "Never have so many won so many accolades for so few real achievements on the world stage. That about sums up the Olympics 2021 -- or, as I call them, the O-limp-ics 2021. Indeed, the time has come to retire the hallowed motto of the Games: "Faster, Higher, Stronger."

"In our modern age, it's: "Woker, Weaker, Loser."

"Take Megan Rapinoe, please. The infamously pink-purple-haired captain of the U.S. women's soccer team teared up after America's 1-0 loss to Canada, which hadn't beaten the U.S. since 2001. "This sucks," she lamented in a post-defeat TV interview on USA Network. "It sucks." With a runny nose and watery eyes leaking, she complained: "I don't think I've ever lost to Canada, so it's a bitter one."

" 'Well, she is certainly a bitter one, ain't she? Perhaps if Moany Megan had spent more time running drills on the field instead of running her mouth about Black Lives Matter or gender politics or her hatred for former President Donald Trump, she'd be on the gold medal stand instead of out in the cold. Good riddance.

"Then there's Laurel Hubbard, the New Zealand weightlifter hailed not for her victories but for being the "first out transgender woman to compete in the 125-year history of the Olympics." Hubbard's first outing consisted of failing not once, not twice, but three times to lift at 120 kilograms and 125 kilograms. Never mind. She's already "made Olympic history" and become an "inspiration" for "young people" to "be their authentic selves.' " . . .

"Boycott Subway until Subway fires the anti-American … Megan Rapinoe, the creep who kneels for our beloved National Anthem!"

The man who barred aged veterans from memorials throws himself a party

A napkin commemorates President Barack Obama’s birthday and presidency.

Didn't Obama realize that the photos would go viral?  . . . "Gold napkins for a birthday party?  I didn't know that the federal stipend covered that.

"Where is Dr. Fauci or Chuck Todd when we really need them?  They spoke about the bikers spreading but not a question about the party or the border.  Let's hope AOC reminds everyone that there was a "little income distribution problem" at that party."

Inside Obama’s bash  . . . "Stefanik is also quoted telling the Post in another story: “Democrats are imposing forced vaccine mandates, unscientific masks mandates, and are openly discussing lockdowns, while President Obama gathers with hundreds of maskless liberal elites who flew in on private jets with no vaccine requirement to attend.” I could listen to her all day."

MSNBC host: Obama's party was 'unbecoming,' a 'terrible message' amid coronavirus case surge  " 'Raw feelings' among former Obama staffers who didn't make the cut for party, while celebrities did: NYT".  Obama loves celebrities and here they come!

. . . "The people who got cut, according to my reporting, were a lot of the former administration officials who really credit themselves with building the legacy that allows Obama to enjoy the post-presidency popularity among this crowd and there were some raw feelings about what looked like a two-tier system," Karni said. "But in the end, he had the big party, there were mixed feelings about whether that was a good look for Democrats, for Obama himself, and we learned that significantly scaled back did not mean a dinner party with 12 close friends and his family."
"No. In fact, very high-level Democrats, folks in the White House even, were pretty upset about this," Brzezinski said. "It’s sending a terrible message that the party doesn’t need right now, for sure."

Private jets and no masks — how Obama’s party was height of elite hypocrisy  . . . "
As the rest of America struggles with uncertain employment status and school reopenings, shifting mask mandates, anxiety over vaccinations and variants, the health of the economy and the citizenry at large, Obama had to go and throw himself a huge, epic, three-day birthday bash on Martha’s Vineyard.
"You would think a former president — one who clearly considers himself more intelligent and sensitive than most — would exercise some restraint."
Famously close friend David Axelrod — who sat for a hagiographic, three-part HBO Obama doc that premiered last week, who just called Obama an “apostle of hope” in the Washington Post, and the adviser most responsible for getting Obama elected in the first place — was, according to the New York Times, cut from the guest list.
Barack Obama, former president, just spent his 60th birthday with friends, family and fawning celebrity types at a bash on Martha’s Vineyard. Not unexpected  . . . "And according to reports, he grooved to the song “Birthday Bitch” performed live by guest Trap Beckham. A bit unexpected.
"This is, after all, a former president, a former leader of the free world. A former dignified member of the elitist of all elitist circles." . . .

. . . "Only this: that secularism and cultural rot and immorality are celebrated in America. That profanity and vulgarity are acceptable forms of entertainment. That money, power, prestige and high political positioning doesn’t automatically bring class and taste.
"And that no matter how you spin it, the image of a former president rapping to a live rendition of “Birthday Bitch” is not a good look." . . .

Another Democrat mayor police turn their backs on

 Neon Nettle

The mayor can always fall back on the old "racism" claim.

"As Lightfoot visited the hospital about midnight Saturday, about 30 officers turned their backs to her when she approached them on the 7th floor, the Chicago Sun-Times reported Monday morning.

" 'It looked like it had been choreographed," a source told the outlet."

"The male officer’s father, who is a retired Chicago cop, also gave the mayor an earful when she tried to talk to him, sources told the Sun-Times.

"She reportedly remained calm and attentive while he blamed her for what happened.

"The mayor's press office provided a statement to Fox News, saying,

"In a time of tragedy, emotions run high and that is to be expected."

"The mayor spoke to a range of officers that tragic night and sensed the overwhelming sentiment was about concern for their fallen colleagues," the statement read.

"As the mayor stated yesterday, now is not the time for divisive and toxic rhetoric or reporting.

"This is a time for us to come together as a city." . . .

Two brothers charged in Chicago in fatal shooting of officer Ella French

The youngest brother Emonte, 21, was charged with first-degree murder, two counts of attempted murder of a peace officer, one count of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, and one count of unlawful use of a weapon by a felon, Chicago Police confirmed.

Brothers charged in killing of Chicago cop were on probation for felonies

CNN Considered a Boat Anchor by Parent Company

So the time to jettison CNN is now. And if Bezos wants another boat anchor like WaPo, CNN is a perfect fit. However, given the Executive Order issued by President Trump on foreign interference in elections, I suggest Bezos wait this one out. Because the U.S. government could be the owner of CNN soon.

The Blacksphere  "Remember watching footage of the war with Iraq? I was glued to the TV screen watching all that AAA lighting up the night sky as our military bombed Saddam Hussein into oblivion. I couldn’t turn away. CNN actually seemed to report news back then, and not fabricate it. But things changed. Dramatically.

"No sense trying to figure out when; it doesn’t matter. What does matter is CNN and their cohorts undoubtedly became “fake news”. Donald Trump called them out for what they were and still are.

"At the time I bet none of them thought the moniker would stick. Yet, years later we’re still referring to them as fake news. Moreover, we really believe it.

"While WaPo is carried by the richest man in the world–a man who hates the president–the fact is WaPo can’t stand on its own. Without Bezos’ backing, WaPo would be bankrupt. Most of the leading news outlets would fail were it not for support from outside sources. Which is why CNN’s parent company appears to be prepping a fire sale." . . . Kevin Jackson

CNN Proposes Travel Ban on Florida Over COVID Cases  "
After denouncing the Trump administration for banning travel from China in 2020, during the early days of the pandemic, on Monday, CNN’s New Day actually promoted the notion of somehow imposing a travel ban on the state of Florida over a recent rise in COVID cases there. Without a sense of irony, the show hyped the notion that travel from the Sunshine State would have already been banned if it were a foreign country." . . .

No Surprise: Trust in Liberal Cable News Dropped in Last 6 Months  "Viewers' trust in reporting at MSNBC fall from 93 percent to 90 in the last 6 months while CBS dropped from 84 percent to 82 percent and CNN endured a five percent decrease, from 92 percent to 87 percent. Trust in ABC remained the same at 88 percent. "...

"CNN host Brian Stelter has admitted the 'optics' of banning Chris Cuomo from talking about sex pest claims made against his brother are a 'problem' and says Chris's show could be canceled if viewers turn off over the scandal. Speaking in a six minute monologue Sunday, Stelter confirmed that Chris has been banned from discussing his brother on his nightly Prime Time show, and that CNN staff were divided at over the scandal, which saw Chris advise Andrew on how to response to claims made against him by 11 women. That number has now jumped to 13. 'Management has been clear about its position: he is not covering the governor . . ."

Red-State Bikers and Sophisticated Celebrities ...

 Power Line Blog

"Of course, all kinds of events are going on. Like Chicago’s Lollapalooza, attended by several hundred thousand over four days, where attendees were “literally pressed against each other, maskless.” But Chicago is a blue city, run entirely by Democrats, so Lollapalooza didn’t merit a mention.

"And, of course, there was no mention of Barack Obama’s 60th birthday party, where celebrities mingled cheek by jowl without wearing masks. Neither Todd nor Fauci could possibly be unaware of Obama’s super-spreader event–celebrities attended from around the world–but somehow it didn’t come up.

"Of course, CNN assures us that Obama’s birthday party was a totally different kind of event from the Sturgis bike rally. It was attended by “sophisticated, vaccinated” people. Never mind that Fauci insists that the vaccinated, like the unvaccinated, should wear masks. "

President Xi, mi casa es tu casa

China Hosting the Winter Olympics Is an Extremely Bad Idea

. . . For decades, the Chinese have acted with impunity when it comes to the stealing of intellectual property.  They have no regard for other countries' copyright or patent laws.  As far as they're concerned, if a foreign product is in their possession, they retain the right to copy, disassemble, reverse-engineer, and replicate it, in order to profit from its reproduction, distribution, and sale. . . .

China vs. America  . . . "Of course, Chinese leader Xi Jinping is not remotely as psychotically belligerent as Hitler, who was a deranged genocidal romantic who actively sought war as long as it was in advantageous circumstances. Hitler had professed to have enjoyed his four years of trench warfare in World War I, in the course of which he was wounded, gassed, and twice decorated for bravery. He felt that he must unleash aggressive war on Europe according to a strict timetable because his obsessive hypochondria led him to believe that he would die prematurely. (He did, but only because he had provoked irresistible forces to destroy him.)

"Nor could Xi be even slightly compared to Kaiser Wilhelm II, who had a childish ego and impetuosity and gave the decrepit Habsburg empire in Vienna the infamous “blank check” to plunge all of Europe into war. The comparison with Stalin must also be used with great caution; barbarous though he was, and intent though he and his successors were in stirring up Communist revolutions in different countries from Greece to the Congo to Cuba to Indonesia, neither Stalin nor any of his successors ever dared a military confrontation with United States.

"There is no reason to believe Xi would either, but . . . "   (Conrad Black)
