Did the state make you great?

Charles Krauthammer

“If you’ve got a business — you didn’t build that. Somebody else made that happen.”
— Barack Obama, Roanoke, Va., July 13
"Limited government so conceived has two indispensable advantages. It avoids inexorable European-style national insolvency. And it avoids breeding debilitating individual dependency. It encourages and celebrates character, independence, energy, hard work as the foundations of a free society and a thriving economy — precisely the virtues Obama discounts and devalues in his accounting of the wealth of nations."
McClatchy: Commentary: 'Life of Julia' is a life without ambition  "One of the major underlying issues in this year’s election is to what extent we will, as Arthur Brooks of the American Enterprise Institute put it, continue to value “earned success,” or slide into “learned helplessness.” "  E. Thomas McClanahan

40 Then the Lord Govt turned the retailer and the manufacturer and the wholesaler and all the servicers, and said,
“I will make your taxes and regulations very severe;
with painful labor you will give birth to profit.
You shall be afflicted with plagues of audits,
the coming of Osha, and the trials of Irs.
By the sweat of thy brow you will earn thy living
until you return it to Me.
You will suffer the droughts of subsidy and stimulus,
and will thirst forever. You're welcome."

ABC's Brian Ross apologizes for blaming Colorado shooting on the right

Rick Moran  "But Brian Ross, the ABC reporter who suggested that the name "Jim Holmes" he found on a tea party website was the same man who allegedly murdered 12 people at a Colorado theater today -- and turned out to be laughably wrong -- will probably get promoted to the White House beat if Romney is elected president. After all, he showed a lot of initiative in trying to smear the right which is exactly what ABC will be looking for if Mitt wins in November.

"Now that the report has turned out to be a figament of Ross' imagination, ABC is apologizing."
....

"What made Ross go to the Tea Party page in the first place? Was he looking for an excuse to blame the Tea Party for the massacre?"
The liberals are always predictable; cases in point:
Bozell: ABC's Disgraceful Rush to Judgment on the Tea Party"In a moment that demanded clarity of thought and purpose, Ross rushed to slander those with whom he does not agree politically, exposing the depths and darkness of his political prejudices."

COLORADO THEATER CALLED 'GUN-FREE' ZONE

WND  "Gun advocates say the movie theater where a Colorado gunman opened fire Friday, killing 12 and wounded 58, has a strict policy against firearms on its premises – even for patrons [who] have concealed handgun permits."
....

"That’s exactly how it happened in the same town just three months ago – when a man gunned down a pastor’s mother at the New Destiny Center church in Aurora, Colo.
"The shooter, Kiarron Parker, had been released early from prison after serving time for assaulting two officers.
"An off-duty Denver police officer – who had been carrying a concealed firearm during the church service – shot and killed the gunman.

Thoughts about the Colorado theater shooting

Sadness, but No Anger  "The responses of both presidential candidates to the horror in Colorado feel weak to me. They are characteristic of our culture, which treats each of these grostesque acts of mass killing as “tragedies.” The proper response to such an atrocity is rage. It wouldn’t be out of place for the president and the man who hopes to replace him to refer to the shooter as a “monster.” We don’t do that. Instead, we focus on “healing.” We’ve become excellently behaved victims."  Mona Charen

ABC Irresponsibly Connects Colorado Shooting to Tea Party
NRO; Colorado: Our Odd Focus  "Whole groups will be vilified, blame will be apportioned to those many times removed, and the shooter will be partially absolved of blame by those who prefer to see fault in video games or talk radio or political rhetoric or anything else that can be conscripted to explain why terrible things happen to good people. Few will point out that unless someone commits an atrocity in the name of an ideology — Timothy McVeigh, for example — their political beliefs are wholly irrelevant. Even in cases where a killer is motivated by something specific, to draw general conclusions is most often folly. America is not the land of collective guilt, and mass shootings should carve out no exception. Those few people who have already jumped on the crime to hit out at their boogeyman of choice are fools." Obama Prays For CO Victims: "What If Malia And Sasha Had Been At The Theater?" "I think is a day for prayer and reflection," Obama said in conclusion. "I'd like us to pause in a moment of silence of the victims of this terrible tragedy." In a particularly odd moment, several of Obama's supporters in Fort Myers chanted "Four More Years" as he concluded the decidedly apolitical event. Mitt Romney Reacts To Aurora, Colorado Shooting  ""We pray that the wounded will recover, and that those who are grieving will know the nearness of God," Romney said." Colorado Batman Movie Shooting Suspect James Holmes Was PhD Student
Neal Boortz draws some conclusions on the Colorado shooting  "Even at this early stage in the investigation, there are some things which we will undoubtedly see:
Progs will use this tragedy to focus on their desire for gun control. At some point the killer will be identified as a right-winger. This will be used to promote Hillary’s signature on that U.N. small arms control treaty. Our hearts go out to the friends and families of those killed and injured in this attack.

Lecturing the Successful

Explaining Obama's Ressentiment*; Unearned success is the central theme of his life story.
"What is the root of Barack Obama's ressentiment? Why does he insist that men like Jack Gilchrist don't deserve their success? Not because they are successful. Even if Obama loses in a landslide, he will have enjoyed more success than most people can dream of in a lifetime."No, Obama resents their modest success precisely because they did earn it."

Understanding the Obama Voter

Neal Boortz    ...." Who are the rest of these people?  How do you explain the young people with actual jobs .. young people who look perfectly normal, but are there nonetheless trying to get a ticket to see their hero?  Who ARE these people?  I think they are the people who have bought into Obama’s class warfare rhetoric.  These are people who think that the rich – those evil rich people – are really hoarding and spending money that belongs to them.  They think that the rich became wealthy not through hard work, but through exploitation --- or that they were simply lucky.  That’s why this “less fortunate” phrase works with them so well.  These people look at Obama as someone who will make things right for then … make things right by taking that money these rich people got by exploiting all those people, and then giving some of that money to them.  Simply put – wealth envy.  Wealth envy is what’s causing these people to stand in the heat to get their tickets to see the man they think will straighten this mess out – the man who will make those rich people pay their “fair share.”  If you asked them some simple questions about who pays what when it comes to taxes there is simply no way in hell they could come up with the answers.  Facts mean nothing to them – their envy overcomes them; clouds their thinking.  They’re waiting for Robin Hood"  Read more....

Here come the boycotts: Chick-fil-A president slams gay marriage

Yahoo News " "I think we are inviting God's judgment on our nation when we shake our fist at him and say, 'We know better than you as to what constitutes a marriage,'" Dan Cathy, the company's president and chief operating officer, said in a recent radio interview. "I pray God's mercy on our generation that has such a prideful, arrogant attitude to think that we have the audacity to define what marriage is about." "
Hat tip to Jeff Hayden; Plano, TX, who accurately predicted the boycotts.

Here it comes:
Ed Helms to Boycott Chick-fil-A Over Company's Anti-Gay Marriage Stance " Helms is not alone in his stance. Many associated with NOH8 - such as Miley Cyrus, Lindsay Lohan and Kim Kardashian - have also called for a Chick-fil-A boycott."

Gen. Boykin: Boy Scouts 'Should be Applauded for Standing up for Traditional Values'

“I would say that if you look at the fact that there are many documented incidents of the abuse of young boys by homosexual scout leaders, the Boy Scouts are actually protecting the young men that are part of the Boy Scouts by ensuring that there are no homosexual predators associated with them,” Boykin said.
"He added: “That is not to say that every homosexual is a pedophile, but there have certainly been many incidents that have been documented that reflect that there is a problem. ....
"Homosexual activists, meanwhile, roundly condemn the Scouts’ decision – and the policy."

Former Navy SEAL launches anti-Obama PAC

Ryan Zinke
Hot Air   "Politicker reports that Ryan Zinke, an ex-Navy SEAL of Team 6 and a current Montana state senator, has just launched a new political action committee: Special Operations for America, a group to support “the election of Mitt Romney and like-minded candidates.” "
“For those who have taken an oath to defend the Constitution against all enemies, both foreign and domestic, it is a call of duty to take back America from a Commander-in-Chief that is incapable of understanding the sacrifices that have been made for the values that have made America great.”

Democrats' Ideal Voter: Illegal Alien, Single Mother, Convicted Felon

Ann Coulter  "How can a country that elected Ronald Reagan have Obama tied in the polls with Mitt Romney?
"The answer is: It's not the same country.
"Similarly, when two successful, attractive multimillionaire women in California can't beat a geriatric leftist like Jerry Brown or an old prune like Barbara Boxer, that's not the same state that elected Ronald Reagan twice, either.
"The same process that has already destroyed California is working its way through the entire country."
Then she explains why...

HuffPo; Democrats Benefit From Illegal Immigrant Voting
"There is a huge problem with voter fraud. And, in my opinion, it is proven by the vehemence of the Democrats, the beneficiaries of the fraud, toward enforcement of our laws."
Larry Elder highlights absurdity of Democrats' claims of 'war on voting'
"What proof, they ask, demonstrates a problem with the integrity of voting? Popular political scientist Larry Sabato, author of the book on voter fraud called “Dirty Little Secrets,” writes: “From voter fraud to election chicanery of all kinds, America teeters on the edge of scandal every November. The fact that so many people want to thwart legitimate and prudent efforts to improve ballot integrity has become a scandal in its own right.”  "

The real Obama, unplugged

Politico; Obama hijacks American success   "Our life is a journey — branching out in scattered directions. By God’s grace and the foresight of our Founding Fathers, this journey is determined by our own free will and motivation. But success, according to Obama, can only be achieved if the government has had an integral part — pushing you in the right direction.

So, using the president’s logic, Michael Phelps won eight Olympic gold medals because the Federal Highway Administration built the roads to get him to swim practice. They also woke him up at 4 am each morning and forced him to train. Or Spanx undergarments — which millions of women rely upon — became a billion-dollar company because its founder, Sara Blakely, wanted to pay more taxes."....

Neal Boortz; Hey ... Obama. We Built That Stuff Too
"Get in Marine One, Obama, and fly off to visit a road construction project.  Look at those graders, rollers and the machines that lay the asphalt.  See those logos on the doors?  Those logos are for private construction firms.  Those workers in yellow vests?  Their paychecks and benefits are coming from private businesses – many of them the very small businesses you want to hit with tax increases."....

Videos: Romney on the attack after Obama’s “You didn’t build that” remark

Hot Air  "Mitt Romney delivered an impressive rebuttal to Barack Obama’s ill-considered remarks in a Roanoke, Virginia speech on small business owners this past Sunday."
...." Mitt Romney delivered an impressive rebuttal to Barack Obama’s ill-considered remarks in a Roanoke, Virginia speech on small business owners this past Sunday."
"This is just about pitch perfect. In the midst of all these attacks on Bain Capital and private equity, conservatives have urged Romney to start fighting back with full-throated defenses of capitalism and private property. Obama’s weird statement gave Romney the perfect opening, and Romney did not let it go to waste. He also correctly diagnosed why Obama made that argument and why Obama’s prescription is exactly what we don’t need in the next four years, which he addresses in the part of the speech that immediately follows this excerpt."
