Ferguson and the media

Perry blasts felony indictment as ‘outrageous’; Press stresses the indightment without reporting on the merits

at NY Magazine;   This Indictment Of Rick Perry Is Unbelievably Ridiculous
"The conventions of reporting —  which treat the fact of an indictment as the primary news, and its merit as a secondary analytic question —  make it difficult for people reading the news to grasp just how farfetched this indictment is."

Via Drudge   "A defiant Rick Perry on Saturday went on the offensive one day after being indicted for allegedly abusing his power with a controversial veto, denouncing the charges as “outrageous” political theatrics and predicting he will prevail over “those who would erode our state’s constitution and laws purely for political purposes.”

... "Even without Hanson, it seems to me, the statute — as understood in the indictment — is unconstitutionally overbroad. It would, for instance, punish clearly protected speech such as, “If you Legislators enacts a bill with this language rather than the version I like, I will veto it,” since that too would be “threat[ening]” “to take … action as a public servant” by vetoing the bill in “attempt[ing] to influence” legislators in “specific performance of [their] official duty,” namely drafting and enacting legislation. But Hanson strikes me as even more clearly authoritative on the matter."

Legal Insurrection; Rick Perry indictment looks, walks and quacks like political power play    "The criminalization of routine politics only seems to apply to Republicans."
...
"Rick Perry and Texas Republicans, on the other hand, have a video of the “embattled” DA and head of the Public Integrity Unit belligerently wasted and strapped to a chair, demanding special treatment from a sheriff named Greg:"

"At least for now, I think it’s obvious who’s winning the narrative in red Texas.

"Travis County itself is notoriously liberal, but you have to wonder just how bad it must be for Battleground Texas and their democrat friends statewide, if they’re forced to bank all expectations on a political play that’s almost certain to fail."

But liberals will do anything to defend their drunks – remember Ted Kennedy?
Rosemary Lehmberg DUI DA

... "She got a 45-day jail term, – served about half of it, – and refused to resign her office.

"The alleged ‘criminal activity’ Governor Perry engaged in was threatening to line-item veto her office funding if she didn’t resign.

Has Obama checked out and no longer interested in being president?

Neo-Neocon
Obama 2008 Acceptance Speech
...
"But was he ever interested in the work of being president? I don’t think so. From the very start, what interested him was giving speeches and campaigning. For the rest, he truly believed that just being his glorious self would somehow magically cause all the things he wanted to happen to actually occur, with a minimum of effort.

"And although that sounds rather deluded, in a sense it was reality-based in his case. Isn’t that pretty much how his life had gone up till now?

"Obama never was very engaged with the work of government, although much of his career has been spent in government. As president, even his signature “accomplishment” early in his administration, Obamacare, was designed and pushed mostly by others (Pelosi, for example), who did the heavy lifting for him.

"Obama is used to adulation and feeds off it, and when the adulation stops he’s really not very interested in going on with the activity. Campaigning and elections are tailor-made for a personality such as his. They feature speeches and promises and debates (words) rather than the need to work with others and accomplish something concrete. The main activity is travel—constant movement—and speaking before adoring crowds." ...

NBC News reports:
U.S. Army Major General Harold Greene was buried today at Arlington National Cemetery with full military honors, including a caisson, two escort platoons, casket team, firing party, colors team, and a caparisoned horse. The U.S. Army band, “Pershing’s Own,” played softly as the funeral procession made its way down the long hill past the rows of simple white gravestones to bring General Greene to his final resting place.
The graveside service began with a few words, followed by a 13-gun salute. The major general’s widow, Dr. Susan Myers, was seated in the front row. To her right was their son 1st Lt. Matthew Greene, his daughter Amelia Greene, followed by Major General Greene’s father, also Harold Greene.
After three rifle volleys and the playing of “Taps,” the American flag, once placed on the major general’s casket, was carefully folded as the band played “America the Beautiful.” U.S. Army Chief of Staff Gen. Ray Odierno presented the flag to his widow, and additional flags to his children and father.
General Greene, 55, became the highest-ranking fatality in the war in Afghanistan after an Afghan military police officer opened fire on Aug. 5th, 2014.

Head of Fraternal Order of Police rips Obama for his remarks on Ferguson

Rick Moran
Political Cartoons by Michael Ramirez

..."I'm sure the president thought he was being even handed by blaming both protestors and cops for the violence. But you can't have law without order, and preventing people from looting and setting cars on fire usually necessitates strong arm tactics. And inevitably, non-violent people are going to be unfairly arrested simply because they're in the wrong place at the wrong time.
"This is what happens in a riot. It is chaos. The president and many on the left criticizing the police seem to think that the cops can restore the peace in an orderly and logical manner, without resorting to physical violence. It is regrettable that things get out of control but that's what a riot is all about."

It would be nice if people would stay silent about Ferguson
...  "Let me say a couple of things about President Obama's statement:
       1) It was cautious and he did call for "healing." That's good.
       2) It was unnecessary and out of place for a president.  That's bad.

Hamas stages evidence of terrible Israeli murders

Was This A Staged Protest or Staged Propaganda?

"I know Muslims aren’t known for their sharp minds, but I never thought a staged funeral could be this amateurish.

"It is so bad that I’m beginning to think this was a staged protest, similar to the kinds the big brains in our country organize. You know who I mean, the kollidge students."

Well, the video may not be so great, but the still shots will do fine. They will work well enough to set Geraldo's spleen into overdrive.

Krauthammer: On Obama’s foreign policy, Clinton got it right

“Great nations need organizing principles, and ‘Don’t do stupid stuff’ is not an organizing principle.”
— Hillary Clinton, The Atlantic, Aug. 10

Charles Krauthammer

"Leave it to Barack Obama’s own former secretary of state to acknowledge the fatal flaw of his foreign policy: a total absence of strategic thinking.

"Yes, of course everything Hillary Clinton says is positioning. The last time she sought the nomination (2008), as she admitted before Defense Secretary Bob Gates, she opposed the Iraq surge for political reasons because she was facing antiwar Sen. Barack Obama in Iowa. Now, as she prepares for her next run (2016), she’s positioning herself to the right because, with no prospect of being denied the Democratic nomination, she has the luxury of running toward the center two years before Election Day.
"All true, but sincere or not — with the Clintons how can you ever tell? — it doesn’t matter. She’s right."...

Victim Mentality Afflicts Black Americans

The do-gooder media calls these rioters "oppressed", but I maintain that they are in actuality the oppressors.  The oppressed are the owners of businesses where the rioters live. They stock their shelves, investing their capital in hopes of growing their businesses only to see it all swept away by thieves; entire families of looters, bragging about getting even with "the man".
We hear of poverty in those neighborhoods, but what sane business will build employment in areas where those living around them may wipe them out in one evening of anger and opportunism?

Man Frustrated by Ferguson Riots Goes on Legendary Rant: ‘It’s Time For Us to Change’    "Following the shooting death of Michael Brown by the police in Ferguson, MO, and the riots that have ensued as a result, here’s Johnathan Gentry’s perspective:"

Alan Caruba; Victim Mentality Afflicts Black Americans    "The response of some members of the black community in Ferguson was to vandalize and loot stores on Sunday night victimizing the owners of those stores, some of whom avoided it by standing fully armed in front of their place of business. Since then the rioting has continued through Wednesday, inflamed by the predictable presence of Al Sharpton who is famed for getting on the first plane available to get to the scene of riots and similar incidents."
...
"Commentator, Juan Williams, in his book “Enough”, wrote “Very few leading black voices in the pulpit or on the political stage are focused on having black people take personal responsibility for the exorbitant amount of crime committed by black people against other black people. Today’s black leaders sing like a choir when they raise their voices against police brutality and the increasing number of black people in jail…but any mention of black American’s responsibility for committing the crimes, big and small, that lead so many to prison is barely mumbled if mentioned at all.' ”

Coulter asks why send missionaries to Africa when America herself is fighting for it's soul?

Ann Coulter

... " No -- because we're doing just fine. America, the most powerful, influential nation on Earth, is merely in a pitched battle for its soul.

"About 15,000 people are murdered in the U.S. every year. More than 38,000 die of drug overdoses, half of them from prescription drugs. More than 40 percent of babies are born out of wedlock. Despite the runaway success of "midnight basketball," a healthy chunk of those children go on to murder other children, rape grandmothers, bury little girls alive -- and then eat a sandwich. A power-mad president has thrown approximately 10 percent of all Americans off their health insurance -- the rest of you to come! All our elite cultural institutions laugh at virginity and celebrate promiscuity.

"So no, there's nothing for a Christian to do here."

Evangelicals: Ann Coulter Speaks Only for Herself on Criticism of Christian Ebola Doctor; She Needs to Ask WWJD
" 'Along the way, we have the personal benefit of participating in the humility of service that mirrors what our Lord did on our behalf. Christ took the ultimate mission trip when he went to, as Ann Coulter would describe it, the 'disease ridden cesspool' of this world and offered salvation," he writes."

French Foreign Minister Hits Obama: “When People Are Dying, You Must Come Back From Vacation”

Daily Dose

"French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius has a message about Iraq for Barack Obama: Get back to the White House and do something.

" ‘I know it is the holiday period in our Western countries,’ Fabius told a radio interviewer Tuesday in France,’ but when people are dying, you must come back from vacation.’

"Full-time workers in France are guaranteed a whopping five weeks of paid vacation every year, making his plea all the more urgent.

"Obama is on a family and golfing holiday in a ritzy neighborhood of Martha’s Vineyard but says he will come back to Washington briefly on Tuesday before returning to fun, sun, and more golf.

"As town after Iraqi town is conquered by ISIS, an Islamist terror group that claims it has established an ‘Islamic state,’ Obama’s approach has consisted so far of airlifting humanitarian supplies to victimized groups, protecting the aid drops with airstrikes, and begging for help from allies."

Golfers frisked as Obama arrives at Martha’s Vineyard club    "Regulars at the Vineyard Golf Club in Martha’s Vineyard were gobsmacked when President Obama unexpectedly strolled onto a nearby green and they were immediately frisked. “There was no warning he was coming,” sniffed a guest.

“ 'There was security on the way in, but no word as to why they were there.” The member added, “While eating, overlooking the golf course, guests had to stand up and be wanded.” One asked if he could finish his hot soup first, and an Obama security man cracked, ominously, “So, you’re not cooperating?' ”

... "Lindsey Rotteau wrote, The Blaze reported: “The only place his name should appear is in school textbooks stating he was the worst president in our history. The only CHANGE he made was making people not be proud to be an American!”

"Meanwhile, graduates of the former John F. Kennedy High School expressed outrage over the name change, too.

“ 'This is an outrage and shouldn’t even be considered,” wrote Karen Lydon, The Blaze reported. “The name should stay the way it is now honoring President Kennedy!”
