Law Schools Fall To Revolutionaries -

 The American Conservative

"Here’s a very, very powerful addition to my danger of conservative complacency post.". . .

. . .Writing on Bari Weiss’s invaluable Substack, Aaron Sibarium details the corruption of the American legal profession by wokeness. Y’all, this is a five-alarm situation. Excerpts:

"Read it all. Seriously, every word. As scholar Eric Kaufmann said over the weekend (see my link in the first graf), conservative voters and politicians have to make fighting wokeness in the culture war their No. 1 priority. If they don’t, we are going to lose our freedom. It really is that simple.

"The people who lived under totalitarianism in the Soviet bloc were the first to understand the true nature of the changes sweeping over America in this last decade. I tell their story in Live Not By Lies, and share their advice on how to resist it. If you have previously thought the idea of “soft totalitarianism” was unduly alarmist, I invite you to read Sibarium’s report and reconsider. If you are the kind of person who think that wokeness is a fad among the young, and that they’ll grow out of it, you are not only wrong, you are dangerously wrong.

"This week, Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson is appearing before the Senate in her Supreme Court confirmation hearings. Two years ago, in a law school lecture, she discussed Critical Race theorists who were influential in shaping her thinking. Here is a link to the text of the lecture. She also praised the fraudulent 1619 Project. Well, Critical Race Theory came up yesterday in questioning:". . .

Sen. Graham warns NATO summit will fail if ’Biden Doctrine’ is used

WATCH: Sen. Graham warns NATO summit will fail if ’Biden Doctrine’ is used | Washington Examiner   "As President Joe Biden heads to Brussels for a NATO summit, Sen. Lindsey Graham said a strong message must be sent that there will be severe consequences should Russian President Vladimir Putin decide to use chemical weapons within Ukraine.

"When asked about different U.S. presidents’ approaches to war, Graham, a South Carolina Republican, told Fox News’s Sean Hannity that Biden’s approach is not working.

“Here’s what’s not working, the ‘Biden Doctrine,’ which is to withdraw completely from Afghanistan, leave the place abandoned, give up Bagram Air Base, and allow the Taliban to be back in power 20 years after 9/11 with ISIS and al Qaeda growing in strength inside Afghanistan,” Graham said. ”He is not deterring Putin from destroying the great people of the Ukraine … He is not deterring China from being provocative in Asia, and he’s about to do a deal with the religious Nazi called the Ayatollah.”
"Graham said the NATO summit can either be “a disaster, or it can be a resounding success” depending on what kind of message Russia and China get.
“ 'If NATO will tell Putin with clarity, 'If you use chemical weapons, we will establish a no-fly zone. If you explode a nuclear device inside Ukraine, we’ll consider that an attack on NATO itself because the radiation will flow throughout Europe,'” Graham insisted. “And tell China right now, before it’s too late, that if you keep giving aid to Putin, we will sanction you, and here are the sanctions.'”. . .

Russia not taking Gen. Mark Milley's phone calls

Why I'm not taking Milley's calls either:

Monica Showalter

. . .Another theory is that Putin may now view the United States as a determined adversary bent on his downfall and not worth engaging. Russian officials bristled at Biden calling Putin a "war criminal," saying it could lead to a complete break in relations.

"It misses some of the big ones, though, one of which is the matter of contempt and how much of that the Russians have for Milley (and his wokester U.S. defense secretary, Lloyd Austin).

"After all, Milley's signature achievement has been the botched, chaotic, mal-planned, militarily disastrous U.S. pullout of Afghanistan, which left America's military reputation in ruins and effectively negated the U.S.'s decades of sacrifice in blood and treasure.  Milley is still on the job, of course, un-fired and un–drummed out of the service, so the incompetence now associated with American military leadership is unlikely to change any time soon.  Russia's military establishment had warned that the U.S. pullout plan would lead to disaster back in April 2021, and sure enough, it did.  Milley's pullout was so bad that it made the orderly Russian pullout from the country back in 1989 look positively good in comparison.

"How could the Russians respect a guy like that, or, more importantly, fear him?  Much easier to just dismiss his phone calls.". . .

"Whatever it is, we know that Milley doesn't have the pull to get his phone calls answered in Moscow.  The Post is probably right in thinking that this raises the odds of a U.S.-Russia conflict.  If so, it would be another fine mess Milley has gotten us into.  Back in the old days, countries would leap to pick up the phone when the U.S. came calling.  Today, not so much.  What an embarrassment."

The Arsenal of Democracy? Biden's weak leadership means complicity in Putin's war crimes

My countrymen, Poles, are looking today at Mariupol and are saying, "God" — they say it with tears in their eyes — "Mariupol looks like Warsaw did in 1944 when Nazis, Hitler's Germans, were brutally bombing houses, killing people, killing civilians with no mercy at all."

American Thinker   "Joe Biden's weak leadership on the international stage has led to an enormous international crisis.  Not only is he inept, but we need to speak plainly and call him out for what he really is: a disgrace.  Biden is complicit in the despicable crimes being committed against the Ukrainian people by his lack of action.  The United States of America has the military and political power to have already put an end to this, yet he has chosen to do the bare minimum, and as a result, thousands of people are needlessly dying, and mass destruction is being brought to a great and historic nation.

"It is made all the more worse when you consider that this man has no consistent policies rooted in any sort of logic.  He was the Senate sponsor of the failed Kosovo resolution, which still led to the Clinton administration committing war crimes against the Serbian people and murdering hundreds of civilians in the process.  He passionately insisted that he was in favor of bombing Belgrade, yet he is too afraid to confront Vladimir Putin, who is mercilessly bombarding the innocent people of Ukraine.  This sort of double-standard is unfitting of an American president, and the world is in great peril to have such a man as the de facto leader of the free world.

"We must why it is okay to ignore the United States Congress in its refusal to endorse a military campaign against Yugoslavia, but when there is a wide-ranging outcry across the political spectrum to take more action in defense of Ukraine, he remains on the sidelines.  The American people have always been willing to step up and sacrifice in defense of freedom and for a just cause and righteous intent.  This is one of those moments in history.". . .

Oil and Gas Associations Unite to Destroy Biden's Narrative About Who's Behind the Energy Crisis

Brandon Morse (Yes, really) at RedState

"The energy crisis is in full swing and true to form, the Democrats are leveling their fingers at everyone but themselves. The Biden administration, for instance, doesn’t want to take any responsibility despite having the lion’s share of it. Instead, they point to two of their favorite punching bags, Russian Vladimir Putin and that dastardly oil and gas industry.

"However, the oil and gas industry isn’t letting the lie go and ten associations have united to make clear the truth behind the energy crisis.

"Ten associations from all over the nation wrote an open letter to Joe Biden that demolished his narrative that fossil fuel companies were somehow to blame for the energy crisis because they were greedy and attempting to price gouge customers in times of turmoil.

"The letter begins by stating that they support Biden in his efforts to punish Putin for his unjust war against the Ukrainian people and that it has had an effect on the price of oil and gas. As a result, parts of his administration have demanded that oil and gas companies in the U.S. step up, only there’s an issue stopping them from doing so…his administration:. . ."

The Babylon Bee predicts the future and therein lies the problem

Babylon Bee Censorship Shows Why Courts Should Uphold Texas’ Social Media Law
Earlier this week, Twitter locked the account of The Babylon Bee, a right-leaning parody site, after it awarded Rachel Levine, a transgender Biden administration official, the title of “man of the year” in reaction to USA Today naming Levine one of its “women of the year” last week. This is just the most recent example in a long train of Big Tech censorship actions. . . .

7 Times The Babylon Bee Reported History Before It Happened (thefederalist.com)

"The joke is on Twitter — not only is the Big Tech bully showing its ridiculous vendetta and giving the Bee a lot of publicity, it’s also helping the Bee’s prophesies come true.". . .

"While Twitter struts its bully power to shut down free speech and keeps us all from our favorite source of satire accurate predictions of insanity, it’s a good time to reflect on all the times the Bee has proven a more reliable source of news than corporate outlets like The Washington Post and CNN. Here are a few of the most memorable times the Bee’s satirists predicted history before it was written.". . .

Shut down by Twitter, Babylon Bee stands up to tyranny of Big Tech - American Thinker

. . ."This isn't the Bee's first clash with Big Tech.

"In 2020, Facebook demonetized the Bee's account and removed an article lampooning Democrat senator Mazie Hirono's comments during the confirmation hearings of SCOTUS nominee Judge Amy Coney Barrett.

"Facebook claimed that the article was "inciting violence" and demanded that the "problematic" portions be removed for the post to be restored.". . .

. . ."This occurred at a time when Facebook allowed content such as that generated by BLM's Hawk Newsome, who tweeted: "If this country doesn't give us what we want then we will burn down the system and replace it," and Democrat congresswoman Maxine Waters, who incited "protesters" to harass members of the Trump administration.". . .

Freedom of expression emanates from freedom of thought.  Every amazing invention or idea or literary work was the product of a brave new idea.  A society that demands consensus ceases to grow.

This is why people living under totalitarian regimes rarely innovate.  It is not for the lack of talent; it is just that the people do not want to risk their lives by expressing a different idea.

By censoring and suppressing the "wrong" ideas, Big Tech is effectively impeding growth.  There is no place for such tyranny in one of the world's largest democracies.

Judge Jackson: what has become of American culture?

Thursday Cartoon: Biology Is a Social Construct... – RedState

"Soon, the highest court in the land will have a woman on it who can’t define what she is. Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson can’t answer that seemingly obvious question: “What is a woman?”

"But here’s a conundrum for the left. What if we all self-identify as… a biologist? If I can be a woman by saying I am, I can be a biologist, too.

"From now on, I am self-identifying (only on Thursdays, and 9am to noon) as a Golden Retriever Biologist.". . .

Ketanji Jackson’s Polling May Not Be as Good as the Media Wants You to Believe – PJ Media    . . ."Republicans have also been pointing out her past embrace of critical race theory and its advocates, and her controversial refusal to define what a woman is. These positions presumably will hurt her image amongst Americans who haven’t yet made up their minds about her.". . .

Ketanji Jackson Has Been Alarmingly Evasive in Her Testimony – PJ Media

. . ."Eli Yokley of Morning Consult nevertheless spun the numbers positively, claiming Jackson had “sturdy backing,” but that’s misleading for two reasons. First, she failed to get support from a majority of those surveyed—which is not a strong position. Second, this poll, which was conducted March 18-21, comes mostly prior to her confirmation hearings, meaning that many voters simply haven’t had the opportunity to form an opinion on Jackson yet. Republicans have aggressively been highlighting her soft-on-crime record as a judge, which includes a disturbing pattern of leniency for sex offenders and child pornographers.". . .

(2) Republicans are racist for daring to inquire into your credentials and views. (3) Regarding those racist questions, we would never treat a Supreme Court nominee as disrespectfully as the Republicans are treating you.  (Their disgraceful treatment of Brett Kavanaugh, Amy Comey Barrett, Clarence Thomas, and Robert Bork has been memory-holed.)". . .

SEN. BLACKBURN: "Can you provide a definition of the word 'woman'?"

 Pictured: Biological woman:

The things they don’t teach at Harvard – Black Woman Brown Jackson cannot define “woman” | the Aspen beat    . . ."Republican Senator: “Given that you said yesterday that you cannot define the word ‘woman’ what is it that makes you think you are one?”

"That line of questioning will not take place, because logical but awkward questions to Dem nominees are deemed by the woke establishment – which is to say almost all of the establishment – to be hateful or racist or something or another that’s bad.

"In any event, I suspect that Black Woman Brown Jackson will decide on a definition of “woman” within seconds after she is confirmed by the Senate and will stick to that definition for her 30 or more years on the Supreme Court. We won’t like her definition, nor will any real biologist.

"But the lying leftist wokerati will. This is the same group that says Justice Clarence Thomas is not really black, because he’s a conservative. To the left, what matters is ideology and power, not logic, honesty or truth."

Protecting Biden Is a Full-Time Job for the Times

 Ann Coulter

"This is an odd line to read in The New York Times:  Ashley Biden’s Diary Was Shown at Trump Fund-Raiser. Weeks Later, Project Veritas Called Her. - The New York Times (nytimes.com)

"In “a still-emerging story” (exciting, no?), Project Veritas “worked to expose personal information about the Biden family at a crucial stage of the 2020 campaign.”

"Isn’t that what journalists are supposed to do?

"Just kidding! As we saw with Hunter Biden’s laptop, the job of journalists is to suppress negative information about Democrats. Instead of reporting news “without fear or favor” — Times founder Adolph S. Ochs, 1896 — the U.S. media now function as the Praetorian Guard for the Democratic Party.

"Still, you’d think the Times would be embarrassed to attack others for doing the reporting they won’t do.

"The story was about how Project Veritas got its hands on the diary of the president’s daughter, Ashley Biden. (She’s the good child by virtue of being less of a drug fiend than Hunter.) It was titled: “Ashley Biden’s Diary Was Shown at Trump Fund-Raiser. Weeks Later, Project Veritas Called Her.”

"The Times no longer reports news about the president: It berates other journalists for reporting news about the president.

"Thus, the Times breathlessly reveals:

"— “The diary’s highly personal contents, if publicly disclosed, could prove an embarrassment or a distraction to her father at a critical moment in the campaign.”

"THAT’S NOT JOURNALISM! THAT’S HURTING A DEMOCRAT! IT’S LIKE ANTI-JOURNALISM.

— “[The Project Veritas] caller was seeking to trick Ms. Biden into confirming the authenticity of the diary …”

"So? Has the Times heard of Woodward and Bernstein? “60 Minutes”? Journalism?". . .

Let's play 'spot the peaceful protester'

American Thinker  . . ."Despite billions of dollars lost in aggregated revenue, property damage, and thousands of human causalities (including many deaths), the "neo-peaceful protest" movement still receives credit as altogether peaceful!

"Is this just an expansion of the definition of "peaceful protest"?  Well, not quite.  It's a complete redefinition — a redefinition both disorienting and nonsensical.

"The definition of peaceful protests used to refer to mass marches and chants of dissatisfaction (while unarmed).  Many Americans don't realize that that definition exactly describes the protesters in D.C. on January 6, 2021.  They were unarmed as they marched toward the Capitol buildings, chanting displeasure with the presidential election outcome.  Media and commentators called this group "hateful," "White Supremacists," and insurrectionists.

"That's funny.  The D.C. protesters didn't topple statues, they didn't set buildings on fire, they didn't set upon onlookers and demand a salute, and they didn't loot or interfere with private businesses at all.  Yet those actually peaceful protestors are universally targeted, condemned, and prosecuted by the FBI, CIA, Capitol Police, and judges.  True, some in this group did enter Capitol grounds and have been charged with "trespassing."  Still, compared to the fully armed, violent rioting and looting "neo-peaceful protesters" in 2020, this cadre of protesters was entirely benign.  Like something out of Orwell's 1984, the disproportional treatment between these two groups is grotesque!"

Joe's War: "The fate of the world is in the hands of a man who is literally and demonstrably a weak-willed and mentally disabled dimwit."

Joe Biden’s War - The American Spectator | USA News and Politics

"What are the Biden family’s benefactors in Ukraine and Russia getting for their money? Whose interests is the Biden regime serving?

"So here we are in a shooting war with Russia. We are supplying the weapons, and the Ukrainians are doing the fighting and dying. But make no mistake. In addition to arming the Ukrainians, by our sanctions, we have declared economic war on Russia and, reportedly, are also using our satellites to target Russian troops for death and destruction. We are in this war just as surely as if Americans were on the ground pulling the triggers.

"And, as this goes on, the question becomes how will it play out? Will Russia retaliate with cyberattacks to disrupt our domestic power grid, pipelines, transportation, financial institutions or other infrastructure?  Will it unleash chemical or biological agents? Will it use tactical nukes to speed up the rubbling of Ukraine’s cities? How will we respond if Russia pursues any of these options? And how close are we to that one misstep that could cause events to spiral out of control into nuclear conflagration?

"How did we get here?

"The answer is simple. The titular head of the Biden regime is weak, corrupt, and mentally incompetent. None of this is or has been a secret. All of it has been on embarrassing display before the entire world and was disastrously demonstrated by Joe Biden’s witless and chaotic withdrawal from Afghanistan as well as his astoundingly moronic prewar assurance to Vladmir Putin that the United States would not militarily oppose an invasion of Ukraine.

"Biden’s caretakers have tried to hide and explain away his glaringly obvious unfitness for office. During the 2020 presidential campaign, he was kept out of public view. As our purported president, his public appearances have been marked by his inability to extemporaneously speak in a coherent manner. He even struggles to read off a teleprompter and frequently appears to be confused and lost in a mental fog.". . .

"In the face of their incompetence, today’s situation requires emergency measures."

FNC's Peter Doocy to Jen Psaki: Why Are Border Detention Facilities Open At Full Capacity But Not Schools? | Video | RealClearPolitics   "FNC's Peter Doocy asked White House press secretary Jen Psaki during Wednesday's press briefing why Biden's immigration policy seems to have more to do with reversing decisions made by the Trump administration than securing the border.

"Doocy also asks: "Does the WH think that it's a problem when the CDC tells these migrant shelter facilities that they can be a full capacity... But when the CDC tells schools that they can open in person at full capacity, many of them don't?"

" 'Have the border patrols unions and the HHS unions been easier to work with than teachers unions?' ". . .

I did a search for Doocy-Psaki exchanges, but all but two in the first several pages were "Psaki totally conquers Doocy" themes.  None on either side were thoughtful pieces. TD
