Fencing Lesson

Hope n' Change
obama, obama jokes, hope n' change, hope and change, stilton jarlsberg, cartoon, million vet march, debt ceiling, golf, shutdown

"Specifically, military veterans attending the "Million Vet March" in Washington DC removed the aptly-named "barrycades" preventing access to the World War II memorial, and piled them in front of the White House while chanting "Obama must go!' "
....
"In 2010, the military considered giving medals for "courageous restraint" to soldiers who refrained from responding violently in the face of provocative enemy action.  Hope n' Change thinks that medal should be awarded, with honor, to every veteran who peacefully protested this weekend at the White House."

House GOP to push Obama, Biden into Obamacare

Political Cartoons by Bob Gorrell
Washington Times  "House Republicans on Tuesday narrowed their attack on Obamacare to the issue of fairness, insisting that President Obama and his top political appointees all have to buy their insurance through the Affordable Care Act’s exchanges as part of a new bill to end the government shutdown and extend the federal debt ceiling.
"GOP leaders hope to put the bill on their chamber’s floor for a vote later Tuesday, with little time to spare before the Thursday deadline the Treasury Department has set for when it will run out of maneuvering room under the current $16.7 trillion debt ceiling."

One Confederate flag at the veterans rally? What do we make of a Soviet flag at a pro-Obama rally? That Che Guevara poster at an Obama office?

"Yet the mainstream media doesn't seem to find this worth mentioning."
The Obama campaign disavowed this as I'm sure the right will disavow the Confederate flag. But the MSM was more than happy to buy the Obama disclaimer.
This is a volunteer office that is not in any way controlled by the Obama campaign. We were disappointed to see this picture because it is both offensive to many Cuban-Americans -- and Americans of all backgrounds -- and because it does not reflect Senator Obama’s views. Barack Obama has been very clear in putting forward a Cuba policy that is based on one principle: freedom for the Cuban people.

The man who could have saved us from Obama now regrets his punt

Investors.com   "A Barack Obama Update: The good news is we have endured 1,729 days of this guy. The bad news is there are still 1,193 left.
"His pettiness and lack of leadership helped produce and prolong a record duration of high unemployment, the worst economic 'recovery' in decades, record deficits, record national debt, a wasted trillion dollars in stimulus, record youth and black employment hardships, untold lies about the unfolding disaster called ObamaCare and Benghazi and so many other things.
"The country's latest fiscal crisis continues this week as an arrogant incumbent president of the United States, who approached this crisis by playing more golf, leads his nation to the brink of an historic default, which he voted to have eight years ago, but now opposes."
....
"In 2003, Sen. George Allen, namesake son of the legendary NFL coach, approached Ditka to be the party's nominee the next year. Ditka, who had described himself as "uber-conservative," subsequently said he considered the new career path for two days. But turned it down as an interference with business plans."

Shut down Barricade

As I said yesterday, that guy with the Confederate flag was either an idiot or a left-wing plant,LukeHandCool nails it with this comment:
....Imagine if a Republican were in the White House and just a tiny, ragtag Cindy Sheehan group of a couple dozen people (2/3 of them reporters) had disgustedly deposited barricades outsids I wrote yesterday, that guy with the Confederate flag was eitheran idiot or a left-wing plante the White House … those TV cameras would zoom in like Hubble telescopes and pan forever.
But, alas, to the great masses of low-info voters watching the MSM news … absolutely nothing happened in DC yesterday.
I'm sure that Confederate flag got plenty of coverage. Especially on the race-pimping MSNBC (Often promoted on "Law and Order").

I told you the guy with that Confederate flag was either an idiot or a leftist plant. Race-baiting MSNBC jumped right on it. And so did these guys:
DC Ralliers Fly Rebel Flag, Tell Obama ‘Put the Quran Down’ "Ralliers"?. One stupid or vindictive guy. One.

From the left-wing ThinkProgress: Veterans Slam Tea Party Politicians For Hijacking Protest Against War Memorial Closures   "Polls show most Americans blame Republicans for the shutdown, and both the GOP and the Tea Party’s popularity are at all-time lows."
But it is the Obama administration which closed down all sites and gave orders to make the shutdown hurt citizens.

Let's not forget to check in on ObamaCare

11,588,500 Words: Obamacare Regulations 30 Times as Long as the Actual Law    "Bureaucracies in the Obama Administration have thus far published approximately 11,588,500 words of final Obamacare regulations, while there are only 381,517 words in the Obamacare law itself.

"That means unelected federal officials have now written 30 words of regulations for each word in the law. "....

Cronyism, incompetence cited in failure of healthcare.gov site  ..."InfoWorld summed it up: "It was built by people who are apparently far more familiar with government cronyism than they are with IT."

"All but one of the 47 contractors who won contracts to carry out work on the Affordable Care Act worked for the government prior to its passage," the report reads."...

...."Nominally a defense contractor, SAIC has been involved with many government projects with ghastly end results, such as New York City's fraud- and corruption-riddled $600 million CityTime payroll software boondoggle."
Rick Moran

Politico says: It's time to fire Secretary Sebelius
“If Apple launched a major new product that functioned as badly as ObamaCare’s online insurance marketplace, the tech world would be calling for [CEO] Tim Cook’s head.”
"That searing indictment of Obamacare didn’t come from a conservative. Those were the words of the Washington Post’s Ezra Klein — yes, liberal Ezra Klein —and Evan Soltas in a blog post on Oct. 4, just three days after the online Obamacare marketplace opened. They were right."
Political Cartoons by Eric Allie
Obamacare website troubles began long before launch  ..."But the public simply wants to understand what is going on in the meantime, as the clock ticks on the individual mandate.  As we’ve seen the responses from this administration, which repeatedly tells the public these are all just glitches due to the overwhelming demand for Obamacare – demand it claims was unexpected – it should be evident by now that no straightforward answers appear to be coming our way anytime soon."
The NY Times article cited here: From the Start, Signs of Trouble at Health Portal

Obamacare’s Secret Is Out  "Timing is everything. And just as Congress’s focus seems to be drifting from Obamacare’s ravages on the economy, Americans are learning the reason this law’s implementation was postponed until after the presidential election.
"That reason is becoming clear as person after person opens the mail. Insurance costs are going up. For many, not just going up—skyrocketing.
"Ross, a married father of three small boys in Florida, tells us his insurance will be going up $525 per month. “I feel completely helpless,” he says."....

Doolittle Raiders' last toast

Doolittle Raiders Set 'Final Toast' for November  "By tradition, the Raiders reunite each year and toast "those who have gone" from the original 80. They use special silver goblets with engraved names. For years, the plan was for the last two survivors to make the final toast. However, after Maj. Thomas Griffin of Cincinnati died in February at age 96, it was decided to have a final ceremony this year because of the survivors' advancing ages." View short trailer.

Historical overview of the raid  "The April 1942 air attack on Japan, launched from the aircraft carrier Hornet and led by Lieutenant Colonel James H. Doolittle, was the most daring operation yet undertaken by the United States in the young Pacific War. Though conceived as a diversion that would also boost American and allied morale, the raid generated strategic benefits that far outweighed its limited goals."

Website: The Doolittle Raid remembered "This website is intended to provide accurate information for persons interested in learning more about the men who took part in the Doolittle Raid as well as the equipment used and other related subjects. Various pages can be accessed from the navigation bar above."

POWs of the Doolittle raid  Crewmen of the raid are listed here as well.
One of the men imprisoned by the Japanese became a Christian during his prison stay and returned to Japan as a missionary. Still others returned to civilian life here in the United States. More.

North American B-25H Mitchell   "The North American B-25H Mitchell is one of the most well-known bombers from World War II. Made famous in the Doolittle Raid on Japan; the first retaliatory strike after the U.S. entered WWII, the B-25 became a symbol of American airpower during the war."

Our vindictive president and his actions in this shutdown

Obama’s Confession of Indifference   "When terrible things happened on George W. Bush’s watch — Katrina, Abu Ghraib, etc. — the immediate liberal response was to insist that Bush had in fact ordered or wanted the terrible things to happen.
"Now we have a president openly admitting it — and no one seems to care."  Jonah Goldberg

Andrew C. McCarthy asks, We can fund al-Qaeda but we can’t fund the families of our war dead?   "Don’t you find it strange... that in a shutdown Obama has instigated in order to enforce the Obamacare law Americans don’t want...his administration says we can fund al-Qaeda but we can’t fund the families of our war dead?"

The List: Unnecessarily Shut Down by Obama to Inflict Public Pain

"There are many other examples of this president's cold-hearted fanaticism and willingness to punish people for reasons that seem to have much more to with spite than what is and is not "essential." In fact, there are a number of examples where Obama seems to be spending more money and using more resources to close and block and inconvenience than to just leave it alone.
"The media may or may not report on these individual occurrences, but what they will never do is provide the American people with the full context and scope of Obama's shrill pettiness.
"Below is a list of illogical, unnecessary, and shockingly spiteful moves our government is making in the name of essential and non-essential."....

The vets marched off with some of the Barrycades and dumped them at the White House fence:

"The Flight 93 Memorial honors the 40 crew members and non-terrorist passengers who died on that flight, and recalls the sense of national unity Americans felt in the aftermath of the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks."

Rand Paul’s shaky world view

I found this while trying to size up Sen. Paul and his qualifications as a national leader. I fear his father's "be nice to the Iranians and they will be nice to us" foreign policy, and suspect the acorn yada, yada, yada.
Anyway, let's add this to our body of knowledge on the man before considering Rand Paul as a President.
Jennifer Rubin "Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) is supposedly the titular head of the isolationist wing of the Republican Party. He has, among other things, suggested that containing a nuclear-armed Iran would be feasible, that we need fewer bases and overseas troops, that we should cut foreign aid and that we should not have intervened or remained in Iraq."
....
"But here’s the rub: His philosophical bent is not consistent with discrete policies he says he wants to pursue, which just happen to be near and dear to the hearts of Christian conservatives who turn out heavily in the GOP presidential primary and caucus contests."

The Wheelchair Rebellion: Pulling the Trigger on Revolution, Calling Down the Swarm

Grumpy Opinions  ...."But the revolution is real. It has started, or rather, shall I say, it has moved past words. It is now on the ground. And a wheelchair shall lead them."
...."Instead, but again, almost in character, for craven meanness, spite and malice, and faux-badassness, Obama has exceeded even my expectations, enough so, that I have to believe the president (or his advisers) are trying to incite violence, real street violence. Is violence, not pain, their end game? Instead of hearing “Ouch”, do they want to hear gunfire?
"What are they thinking? Your guess is as good as mine, but the president is not trying a bluff here. If it’s a bluff, it’s already been called. The vets-in-wheelchairs took care of that at the WWII Memorial.
"Obama doesn’t seem to be daring the American people to rise up. He’s seems to be inviting them to."
