We completely overhauled American health care — to insure 4.2 million people?

Political Cartoons by Michael Ramirez
Lucianne "The number bounced around for years — 46 million. President Obama said it in August 2009: “I don’t have to explain to you that nearly 46 million Americans don’t have health insurance coverage today. In the wealthiest nation on Earth, 46 million of our fellow citizens have no coverage.” He said it dozens more times, including in June 2013: “We are not a nation that accepts nearly 46 million uninsured men, women and children.” The Obama administration pumped the number with official reports. The White House Council of Economic Advisers said, “Perhaps the most visible sign of the need for health care.... "   Full article

Sunday Opinion: College students learn Common Core math

Campus Reform  "College students and others at George Mason University were dumbstruck by the tedious nature of an elementary level Common Core problem during a short series of interviews conducted by Campus Reform last week.
"The problem, 32-12, was demonstrated to those on campus the traditional way and juxtaposed with the Common Core method."

Common Core Math Problems  "Jane Robbins sent me some Common Core Math problems that she had obtained from an elementary school in the Metro Atlanta area.  We’ll let these speak for themselves."

"Just this month, for example, Twitchy exposed a stupid, overly complicated set of Common Core math problems involving “number bonds”—and so much more. Those problems were also being inflicted on kindergarteners."

Also in March, a frustrated dad posted his kid’s absurd Common Core-aligned math homework on Instagram. (RELATED: ‘Why are they making math harder?’ More absurd Common Core math problems)
In February, a group of Common Core-aligned math — math — lessons oozed out of the woodwork which require teachers to ask students if the 2000 presidential election was fair and which refer to Lincoln’s religion as either “liberal” or nothing. (RELATED: Common Core MATH lesson plans attack Reagan, list Lincoln’s religion as ‘liberal’)

In January, The Daily Caller also brought you a surreal, subtly cruel Common Core math worksheet. (RELATED: This Common Core math worksheet offers a glimpse into Kafkaesque third-grade hell) ....

Obama Announces Sanctions Against 7 Russian Officials – Russian Markets Rally Over Weak Response

The Gateway Pundit  "Barack Obama announced sanctions against 7
officials today, including senior aides to Russian President Vladimir Putin and the former president of Ukraine, Viktor Yanukovych."

"The Kyiv Post reported:
In response to the Russian government’s actions contributing to the crisis in Ukraine, this new E.O. lists seven Russian government officials who are being designated for sanctions. These individuals are Vladislav Surkov, Sergey Glazyev, Leonid Slutsky, Andrei Klishas, Valentina Matviyenko, Dmitry Rogozin, and Yelena Mizulina.
The United States also will seek to hold accountable individuals who use their resources or influence to support or act on behalf of senior Russian government officials. We recognize that the Russian leadership derives significant support from, and takes action through, individuals who do not themselves serve in any official capacity. Our current focus is to identify these individuals and target their personal assets, but not companies that they may manage on behalf of the Russian state.

Follow The Equitable Access to Care and Health Act (HR 1814)

House Tees Up Health Votes   "The House of Representatives plans to vote on several health reform bills this week, and two deserve particular attention.
First, religious liberty is once again in the forefront with a bill that would allow Christian Scientists an exemption from Obamacare’s individual mandate that only the Amish and Old Order of Mennonites now receive. Christian Scientists believe in the healing power of prayer, yet they are required to purchase health insurance laden with expensive medical benefits they won’t use."

"The Equitable Access to Care and Health Act (HR 1814) would allow an exemption from the mandate for individuals who have sincerely held religious beliefs that conflict with Obamacare’s requirement that they purchase compliant health insurance. The EACH Act has at least 210 co-sponsors, including 75 Democrats. Any members worried about voting on legislation that would “fix” Obamacare should put those concerns aside. The bill makes an important statement about bipartisan support for religious liberty and deserves their support."    The Galen Institute

What's going on at Air Force Academy? God's word vs. Pentagon's word

Galatians 2-20.jpg

"The Restore Military Religious Freedom coalition, a group of two dozen like-minded religious liberty organizations, announced Thursday that they are ready to offer assistance to any Air Force Academy cadet who faces repercussions for writing Bible verses on their hallway whiteboards.

"The Air Force Academy admitted Wednesday that a cadet leader had to remove a Bible verse he had displayed outside his dorm room because it offended non-Christians and could “cause subordinates to doubt the leader’s religious impartiality.' ”

Pampering the Obamas: 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue Remains the First Family’s Pit Stop

The political accountability watchdog group, Judicial Watch, had been trying since August, 2013 to get the U.S. Dept. of the Air Force to turn over documentation of the flight expenditures incurred that year for three vacation trips made by President Obama and his family. The documentation was turned over only after Judicial Watch filed a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuit against the department. When the information finally arrived, the cost of these vacations was eye-popping:
Flight expenditures for the Obama 2012-2013 family Honolulu Christmas tallied up to a sum of $4,086, 355.20 for taxpayers.
Flight expenditure for Obama’s wining & dining trip to California in August, when he also appeared on The Tonight Show With Jay Leno came to a sumptuous total of $2,145,907.20.
The Obama family vacation to Martha’s Vineyard (again in August) cost us a kingly $1,164,268.80.

People who win vacations on TV quiz shows often have to refuse them because they do not have money to pay taxes on the dollar value of the trip.  Is that not a factor in the presidential vacations?

'Democracy is dead': 'Fanatical' missing airliner pilot pictured wearing political slogan T-shirt

  • Police investigate data from home flight simulator of captain Zaharie Ahmad Shah, 53
  • Investigators speak of his 'obsessive' support for opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim
  • Police officers fear Ibrahim being jailed could have left Shah profoundly upset
  • Flight MH370 disappeared more than a week ago with 239 people on board
  • Despite a huge multinational search effort, no signs of the plane or a crash have been found
  • Malaysian Prime Minister said yesterday that the plane was deliberately steered off course
  • FBI experts say disappearance could be ‘act of piracy’, suggesting passengers are being held
  • Officials revealed the plane could have transmitted a radar 'ping' from the ground if it was still intact

.... "Captain Zaharie Ahmad Shah, a father-of-three, was said to be a 'fanatical' supporter of the country's opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim - jailed for homosexuality just hours before the jet disappeared.
It has also been revealed that the pilot's wife and three children moved out of the family home the day before the plane went missing.

"Evidence of a plot by Malaysian Islamists to hijack a passenger jet in a 9/11-style attack is being investigated in connection with the disappearance of Flight MH370
"An al-Qaeda supergrass told a court last week that four to five Malaysian men had been planning to take control of a plane, using a bomb hidden in a shoe to blow open the cockpit door.
"Security experts said the evidence from a convicted British terrorist was “credible”. The supergrass said that he had met the Malaysian jihadists – one of whom was a pilot – in Afghanistan and given them a shoe bomb to use to take control of an aircraft.

"Royal Barnes, 23, and his wife, Rebekah Dawson, 22, pleaded guilty to three counts of disseminating a terrorist publication last month." ...

Dangerous Times: Will Europe ever Defend Itself?

American Thinker  "Putin has played a consistently brilliant chess game, snatching the Crimea -- and soon, parts of the Ukraine -- long before the West had any inkling. Even as Obama was shafting our closest allies in the Middle East, Israel, Egypt, and Saudi Arabia, Putin stood by Syria and Iran, his allies of convenience in that part of the world. With every East-West confrontation Obama has backed down. Now, with the collapse of Crimea without a shot being fired, Putin has finally revealed his plan."

The Quote-Unquote Presidency; Obama’s not that into it.

"Obama does his job as if the word had quotation marks around it."

... "As I wrote in my “Obamacare Schadenfreudarama“ screed, Obama often seems to think saying “X must happen” is all he needs to do to ensure that X happens. Saying “the website is great” means the website is great. Talking about “red lines” is the same thing as enforcing “red lines.” It seems to me, this is because Obama is only comfortable running for president not being president. That’s why he always reverts to campaign mode.
....
"I mean, am I the only one laughing that the Democrats filibustered themselves this week to talk about the crisis of climate change? They control the senate but stayed up all night to talk about how something must be done while refusing to propose actually doing something. ... I think Obama was happiest when he was president-elect. He had that faux presidential seal and, before he had anything to do, he could talk as if his talk really was a substitute for action. Once in office, the talk and action started to diverge and he never could get them to line up again, at least not for long."

News briefs

Drudge: Missing jet: Not a hijacking but 'deliberate' action, PM says   "The Malaysian Prime Minister stopped short of calling the disappearance of Flight 370 a hijacking, but he said Saturday that the jet veered off course, likely due to deliberate action taken by someone aboard."

Bill de Blasio reiterated he’s not open to any arguments against shutting down the city’s horse-carriage trade.   "But given all the half-truths and disinformation directed at these hardworking drivers, doesn’t New York’s mayor at least owe them an honest rethink before he yanks their livelihoods out from under them?"

Obama unintentionally reveals his insecurity   "It is quite obvious that the reason the 2009 mockery is on Obama’s mind is that Sarah Palin re-opened what we now know to be an emotional wound just 12 days ago, with her comment to Sean Hannity, via Politico:" ...

Lucianne: How five Colorado Democrats may have paved the way for Congress to sue the administration   "This decision should embolden members of Congress who correctly believe that President Obama has encroached upon Congress’ constitutional authority. Indeed, Congress should do no less in defending its authority than the five Colorado state legislators."

Allen West: If mass media won’t report the truth, we must do it one on one    "This week President Obama broke out his pen again and signed off on an executive order that changes rules on overtime pay. This follows his use of that infamous pen to change minimum wage earnings. All of this comes from someone who’s never even run a lemonade stand."

Obviously my respect for Allen West over Obama makes me a racist.
