Pulitzer Prize Parody Nominations: Cinema Felines, Gendered Airlines, and Cheese-Cars Streamlined

RedState

"Our weekly recognition of less-than-meritorious excellence in journalism is worthy of Pulitzer consideration.

"As an extension of the media-mocking venture at Townhall, Riffed From The Headlines, we once again recognize the exalted performances in our journalism industry and compile worthy submissions to the Pulitzer Prize board in numerous categories. To properly recognize the low watermark in the press, let us get right to the latest exemplars of journalistic mis-excellence.". . .

Fed up British Drivers Respond Accordingly After Eco-Activists Block Traffic on a Busy Roadway

"During the Antifa/Black Lives Matter-led “protests” that took place last year here in the U.S. after the officer-involved death of Minneapolis resident George Floyd, there were numerous instances where so-called “peaceful protesters” took over busy streets, blocking them and preventing the normal flow of traffic from one place to the next in an effort to spread their warped “Defund the Police” message, a message that backfired spectacularly on House Democrats in the November 2020 elections.

"There were angry confrontations in some instances where either the demonstrators surrounded the vehicle or jumped on the vehicle, or the irritated drivers proceeded to try their luck and approached the agitators who were blocking the streets, trying to force their way through. Injuries and arrests were reported at some of them. In a couple of instances, deaths were reported as a result of the confrontations.

"In any event, I said all that to say that many of us here in the states can definitely identify with the feelings of frustration and anger over being prevented from going where one needs to go due to a street-blocking “sit-in” protest being put on by radical left-wing activists, whether it be on your way to work, to visit family and/or friends, or to just be out for a leisurely stroll as one often does, especially on a beautiful fall day like today.". . .

Who Is Really Running the Destroy-America Biden Regime?

 100%FedUp

There are only two people, I believe, who qualify as possible candidates for choreographing the massive coup attempt currently taking place before our eyes. Both have spoken of their contempt ––if not searing hatred––for America, and both have tried mightily over decades to bring down our country. And, most importantly, both have the brains and power and track records to place them in frontrunner contention...

...“Guilty as hell, free as a bird—America is a great country.” Bill Ayers, Weather Underground founder....The main obstacle to a stable and just world order is the United States. George Soros, hedge-fund billionaire.

. . . "In less time than a normal human pregnancy, putative president Biden managed to accomplish the following:

California: Imagine what the Democrats can do to the entire nation!

How To Slow, Reverse The California Exodus. . . "This domestic migration away from California is attributed to quality of life and economic concerns. Rising crime, urban blight, and growing inconveniences, such as worst-in-the-nation traffic, erode the state’s quality of life.

"From an economic perspective, residents face steep housing costs, high-priced energy, expensive cost of living, and high taxes. Extortionate taxes and unaffordable housing costs alone turn California’s 14 percent average income premium compared to other states into a nearly 20 percent net income deficit.

"Businesses have also given up on California. Since 2008, thousands relocated either fully or partially elsewhere. ". . .

Activist Judges Are the Latest Threat to California Businesses  "An activist judge with a questionable track record has made a head-scratching decision to overturn the votes of millions of Californians.

"Alameda County Judge Frank Roesch recently ruled in favor of a union-backed lawsuit aimed at dismantling Proposition 22 — a ballot measure that provided job protections for gig workers while allowing them to retain the flexibility of being freelancers. But last fall, Prop. 22 passed by more than 58 percent of the vote with almost 10 million Californians voting in favor of the ballot measure. Now, thanks to one union-friendly judge, it’s as if those votes don’t count.". . .

Thanks to Biden's policies, prepare for a cold, expensive winter

Andrea Widberg  "One of the wonders of the modern age is that fossil fuel allows us to avoid freezing in the winter and overheating in the summer.  Climate change fanatics, however, who ignore that the Earth's climate has cycled endlessly between hot and cold for billions of years, desperately want to return us to a pre-modern state.  Their efforts are paying off, for the U.S. government is warning of a 54% increase in winter heating bills.

"Upon entering the Oval Office, Biden immediately shut down the Keystone Pipeline and ended new drilling on federal lands.  While Trump had brought America to energy independence and affordable energy, Biden reduced America to a vassal of oil-producing countries.

"Thanks to this policy, gasoline prices keep climbing.  In my neighborhood, they've increased by almost 78% in just nine months.  The same is true everywhere.

"Like all Biden policies, this is devastating for the middle and working classes, for it doesn't just make commuting more expensive; it increases the price of every single item in America.  Fuel is needed for farming, manufacturing, shipping, wholesaling, and retailing.  Every aspect of life becomes more expensive when fuel prices rise, with the middle and working classes bearing the ultimate burden.

"All of this is in the name of fighting alleged climate change.  That is a faith, not a science.  We humans can pollute, and I believe we have a moral obligation to keep our environment clean and healthy, but the whole climate change theory is a joke and a bad one at that.". . .

Media Cover for Joe Biden as Gas Prices Surge to Levels Not Seen Since Joe Biden Was VP

... 'Biden will not suffer.  Just as Obama kept the White House at a toasty 75 while his policies left Americans in the cold, expect Biden to do the same.  And at home in Delaware, this man, who got fabulously wealthy in politics (it pays to have a bagman for a son), can keep the house as warm as he wants."...

Will Biden’s Vaccine Mandates Tank The Economy?

. . . The Biden administration’s policies have been not only among the most worker-unfriendly in history, they’ve openly encouraged people not to work. The labor force breakdown could have a disastrous impact on U.S. economic growth for years to come, triggering another recession. If so, it would be yet another unforced error by the worst American president in recent history.

54% hike expected in heating bills

"The Biden administration is putting the screws on America's furnaces this winter, as its anti-fracking, anti-pipeline, and anti-energy policies take hold.

"Already, natural gas prices have nearly doubled so far this year.". . .

Protesters in Rome Chant F**k Joe Biden while Marching Past the American Embassy

. . .”While it is unclear what, if anything, sparked the anti-Biden chant heard at many public events in America, The Daily Wire notes that “The protest coincided with the visit of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) to Rome. At one point, Italian security officials had to take Pelosi and her husband out of a Mass in Rome’s St. Patrick’s Church.' ”. . .

Trending Politics  "Turns out the Italians are fans of Brandon too.

"This past weekend, on October 9th, anti-vaccine mandate protesters in Rome, Italy chanted “f*** Joe Biden” as they marched past the American Embassy, which was long the route of their march through the Eternal City.".  . .

"According to the Associated Press, “Thousands of demonstrators marched down Rome’s famous Via Veneto and other streets on Saturday, some smashing their way into a union office and clashing with police as they protested Italy’s new “Green Pass” vaccination requirement for employees to enter their offices.

"The Green Pass is a certification system that will become mandatory beginning on Oct. 15, 2021, and is required for both public and private workplaces.

"By requiring all employees to have the pass to come to work, Italy has in effect mandated that all working-age Italians receive the vaccine."...

Who Is in Control? The Need to Rein in Big Tech

"The following is adapted from a speech delivered at Hillsdale College on November 8, 2020, during a Center for Constructive Alternatives conference on Big Tech."

In these ways the Web was different. No one owned it, owned the information on it, or could kick anyone off. That was the idea, at least, before the Web was captured by a handful of corporations.

Imprimis  "In January, when every major Silicon Valley tech company permanently banned the President of the United States from its platform, there was a backlash around the world. One after another, government and party leaders—many of them ideologically opposed to the policies of President Trump—raised their voices against the power and arrogance of the American tech giants. These included the President of Mexico, the Chancellor of Germany, the government of Poland, ministers in the French and Australian governments, the neoliberal center-right bloc in the European Parliament, the national populist bloc in the European Parliament, the leader of the Russian opposition (who recently survived an assassination attempt), and the Russian government (which may well have been behind that attempt).

"Common threats create strange bedfellows. Socialists, conservatives, nationalists, neoliberals, autocrats, and anti-autocrats may not agree on much, but they all recognize that the tech giants have accumulated far too much power. None like the idea that a pack of American hipsters in Silicon Valley can, at any moment, cut off their digital lines of communication.

"I published a book on this topic prior to the November election, and many who called me alarmist then are not so sure of that now. I built the book on interviews with Silicon Valley insiders and five years of reporting as a Breitbart News tech correspondent. Breitbart created a dedicated tech reporting team in 2015—a time when few recognized the danger that the rising tide of left-wing hostility to free speech would pose to the vision of the World Wide Web as a free and open platform for all viewpoints.

"This inversion of that early libertarian ideal—the movement from the freedom of information to the control of information on the Web—has been the story of the past five years.". . .

. . ."In these ways the Web was different. No one owned it, owned the information on it, or could kick anyone off. That was the idea, at least, before the Web was captured by a handful of corporations. . .

Kill Back Better

Serenity's mother complained that the police and prosecutors are "just bickering." That was her assessment of the situation -- not that Chicago has a prosecutor who won't prosecute murder. This may explain why -- in addition to George Soros's $2 million donation -- Foxx was reelected last year.

 Ann Coulter

"This isn't a Chicago story. It's a Democrat** Party story.

"Kim Foxx, the state's attorney for Cook County and darling of MSNBC, has managed to increase murders in Chicago to astounding levels even at a time when we're all getting used to astounding crime figures. Nationwide in 2020, murder and non-negligent manslaughter were up 29.4%, according to the FBI. That's more than double the previous record of 1968, when murders increased by 12.7%.

"Under the careful management of Foxx, murders in Chicago were up 55%. To put this in perspective, last year, there were nearly as many murders in Chicago (population: 2.7 million) as in New York City and Los Angeles combined (total population: more than 12 million).

"Perhaps you've heard about the Wild West shootout in the Austin neighborhood of Chicago two weeks ago? One group of gang members shot up the house of rival gang members at around 10 in the morning. They blasted the house with more than 70 rounds, using handguns that had been modified into automatic weapons. Their rivals fired back from inside the home, in a gun battle that lasted so long, it was still going on when the police arrived.". . .

..."But as I said, this is not a story about Chicago. Kim Foxx is a dangerous nut, but she's not a random dangerous nut. She is the Democratic Party's beau ideal of criminal justice"...

..."Liberal moneybags George Soros has spent millions of dollars installing criminal-friendly prosecutors around the country. (Back before it was "anti-Semitic" to mention Soros' pro-murder campaign, The New York Times ran an article boasting of the old prune's role in electing inert prosecutors, like Foxx.)"...

..."MSNBC, mouthpiece of the Democratic Party, was ecstatic the night Foxx won the election that would make her Cook County's top prosecutor, with Lawrence O'Donnell giddily interviewing the pro-criminal Foxx. She was triumphantly interviewed again that weekend by Al Sharpton."...

..."As dead bodies pile up in Chicago under Kim Foxx, remember: This is the criminal justice "reform" Democrats want for the entire country."...

Kyle Rittenhouse Case: Is the Gun Charge A Sinister Attack on Kyle’s Self-Defense?

If the jury finds itself looking for a reason to completely unravel self-defense entirely, however, and simply convict Rittenhouse of all the charges regardless of the lack of legal merit to support such a verdict, a desperate effort by the prosecution to characterize this misdemeanor offense as the “provocation with intent” needed to crush the legal defense entirely may provide the jury with just the excuse they need to do exactly that.

Legal Insurrection

Rittenhouse’s criminal trial is scheduled to begin on Monday, November 1, 2021. And thanks to the kind sponsorship of Legal Insurrection, we’ll be here live.

"So why also include a misdemeanor charge good for at worst 9 months in jail and a $10,000 fine—and, given Kyle’s perfectly clean criminal history, how unlikely it is that he’d receive that maximum punishment even if convicted of this charge?

"There were two key issues I wanted to tackle on this matter of this misdemeanor gun charge.

"First, which we covered in yesterday’s content, was whether Rittenhouse had even violated the relevant gun law in the first place.  You can find that content here: “Rittenhouse: Should Misdemeanor Gun Charge Just Be Dismissed?”

"The bottom line was that a plain-English reading of the relevant Wisconsin statutes would appear to exclude Rittenhouse from any criminal liability under the charged misdemeanor gun crime.  It is for this basis that the defense has filed a motion, still under consideration by Judge Schroeder, to have this gun charge dismissed.

"Second, and the issue we’ll discuss in today’s content, is why is Assistant DA Binger so aggressively pursuing this relatively modest misdemeanor gun charge against Rittenhouse when he already has a handful of serious felony charges pending against the defendant?  Is there a simple, straightforward rationale for this?

"Or might the prosecutor have a more sinister strategy behind bringing this charge—a strategy that threatens the very core of Rittenhouse’s self-defense? A strategy that, if successful, would leave Rittenhouse defenseless against conviction on every one of the felony charges brought against him?

"So, grab a seat and make yourself comfortable, as we dive into this second question about the why behind this misdemeanor gun charge.". . .

EPIC RANT: Famous Investor Comes Out Of Nowhere To Debunk TONS Of Fake News Narratives About Trump

Trending Politics   Michael Burry become a household name after his story was featured in the film “The Big Short”. He risked hundreds of millions of dollars on a bet that the housing market would crash in 2007-2008…and he was right.

"In more recent times, he has sounded the alarm multiple times about inflation and the impending “economic doom” that are country will face.

"However, his Twitter account is incredibly mysterious. He only keeps tweets up for a few hours at a time, and sometimes he deletes his entire Twitter account altogether.

"Today, he set his sights on the lying liberal media.

"Here are screenshots of some of his best tweets of the day that spit in the face of the anti-Trump media:

McConnell Wants Garland to Clarify His Memo Demonizing Parents Protesting Critical Race Theory

Legal Insurrection   "Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell demanded AG Garland clarify his memo that told the FBI and other DOJ departments to investigate parents protesting critical race theory.

"Garland cited threats. harassment, and intimidation as reasons for his actions. He never provided a specific example.

"McConnell expressed concern about the memo because it could stifle parents’ freedom of speech.

“Parents absolutely should be telling what their local schools what to teach,” wrote McConnell. “This is the very basis of representative government. They do this both in elections and – as protected by the First Amendment of the Constitution – while petitioning their government for redress of grievance. Telling elected officials they’re wrong is democracy, not intimidation.”

"However, McConnell noted that school boards and those who side with the school boards have threatened, harassed, and intimidated parents who don’t want critical race theory taught to their kids:

On the other hand, in your own very backyard of Virginia, there have been shocking efforts by public officials to organize for the intimidation and harassment of parents who have the temerity to want a better education for their children. one Loudon County schoolboard member participated in a Facebook group that compiled a list of parents opposed to Critical Race Theory and discussed having their websites. It’s a situation where legal accountability is difficult because the Loudon County Prosecutor was also a member of the group seeking to “doxx” concerned parents. It’s exactly this kind of intimidation of private citizens by government officials that our federal civil laws were designed to prevent. . . .

Freedom From Censorship: Inside The Battle To Build A Second Internet; "Why I’m joining RightForge."

The Federalist  . . . "President Trump was far from the first to be banned by Twitter, but his permanent suspension marked the start of a long, dark night, when anyone anywhere might be banned for anything at the whim of a technocrat.

"We’d seen warnings the sun was setting on a free internet: Mozilla Firefox President and cofounder Brendan Eich was fired over his Christian religion in 2014; Google worked openly to demonetize content it didn’t like in 2020; and that same year social media giants censored a true story from a major newspaper founded by Alexander Hamilton in order to assist their political allies. Treating the U.S. president worse than a terrorist spokesman, however, was something new.

"In response, President Trump’s followers flocked to Parler, a Twitter competitor that hadn’t banned him from their platform, quickly making it a top-downloaded app in the Apple and Google Play stores. Seeing the threat to their censorship, on Saturday both stores announced they would ban the company’s app. That evening, their web host, Amazon Web Services, took Parler entirely off the internet.

"These actions can’t be overstated: To ban an app from the major stores is to essentially ban it from being used by any of your customers — and at the moment of its greatest momentum. To ban it from the very servers it uses is to lower it into its grave. For three of the most powerful companies on the planet to do so in concert is nothing less than the end of a crucial idea — that if you don’t like the way something’s done, you can do it yourself, and if you’re good and lucky enough you might even succeed. We called that idea the American dream." . . .

DeSantis Celebrates Banning Zuckerberg’s Election Meddling As A Win For Safe, Secure Voting

Zuckerberg didn’t just help Democrats by censoring their political opponents. He directly funded liberal groups running partisan get-out-the-vote operations. In fact, he helped those groups infiltrate election offices in key swing states by doling out large grants to crucial districts, Federalist Senior Editor Mollie Hemingway wrote in her new book “Rigged: How the Media, Big Tech, and the Democrats Seized Our Elections.”
