From Judicial Watch: Congressional Disgrace

Judicial Watch "A president has an affair with a White House intern; “allegedly” sexually assaults a woman outside the Oval Office; is credibly accused of rape; hires investigators to intimidate witnesses; and lies to the American people, his cabinet, a federal court and grand jury, etc…that president didn’t resign. The Senate couldn’t even be bothered to remove him from office. Weiner must think, “If Clinton didn’t go, why should I?” Bill Clinton is an elder statesman in this corrupt city. His wife, who helped orchestrate the effort to destroy the women* who were witnesses against him, is our pretender Secretary of State. The Clinton way is now the prevailing ethic for Washington, especially for liberal politicians."

Pelosi Hypocrisy: She Called FBI on Mark Foley But Gives Weiner a Pass  "Back in 2006 Nancy Pelosi was leading the charge on the Foley email scandal. She said it was for the children. Pelosi statement on the Foley investigation:"
House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi released the following statement today on news reports that the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is opening a preliminary investigation of the sexually explicit e-mails Congressman Mark Foley sent an underage former House Page.
....
"Congress must not pass the buck on investigating this cover up. The children, their parents, the public, and our colleagues must be assured that such abhorrent behavior is not tolerated and will never happen again."

A former liberal writes: "The Secret Knowledge: On the Dismantling of American Culture"

The David Mamet Interview      "David Mamet, for the economy of time here, is a traditional Hollywood liberal who is no longer and has written a book about his conversion and transformation -- and it is fascinating. I spent close to 45 minutes with him yesterday afternoon after the program discussing this conversion and how it happened, what inspired it and who the people were. It is a wonderful book for those of us who are conservative, because we look at liberals and have a question: "How can they, A, think the way they do? How can they, B, think the way of us that they do?" This is just a wonderful work in the conversion process. Mr. Mamet did it on his own. I mean, he was influenced by people but he did the work. Who were the people? What were the catalysts that made you even question your liberalism?"

Mr. Mamet's March 11, 2008 column in the Village Voice: David Mamet: Why I Am No Longer a 'Brain-Dead Liberal'An election-season essay.
"What about the role of government? Well, in the abstract, coming from my time and background, I thought it was a rather good thing, but tallying up the ledger in those things which affect me and in those things I observe, I am hard-pressed to see an instance where the intervention of the government led to much beyond sorrow."
....
"I began reading not only the economics of Thomas Sowell  (our greatest contemporary philosopher) but Milton Friedman, Paul Johnson, and Shelby Steele, and a host of conservative writers, and found that I agreed with them: a free-market understanding of the world meshes more perfectly with my experience than that idealistic vision I called liberalism."

Eternal Rest for Veterans Act of 2011
"The United States Supreme Court ruled that Fred Phelps’ actions are protected under the First Amendment. But the SERVE Act protects the rights of families to mourn the loss of a loved one at a military funeral with the dignity and solemnity appropriate for the occasion. Senator Snowe testified before the Senate Committee on Veterans Affairs hearing and also spoke with Military Families United about the SERVE Act."

Where will they picket next?  The Westboro Baptist Church's site is often the target of hackers and has been offline, but for now you can check them out.

Here is a current list of their planned targets.

May God bless the Patriot Guard Riders who stand between those who mock our soldiers' funerals and the families who mourn the loss on their soldier.

Fact-Checking Limbaugh's Seminar Caller

American Thinker  " On Thursday, a victim of the Reid-Pelosi recession -- an out-of-work lawyer -- phoned Rush Limbaugh's conservative radio show, suggesting a revival of Depression-era Keynesian spending. Here is the transcript. On the fly, Mr. Limbaugh responded quite well to the caller's claims, which also are fact-checked below.
"Sensing that it was a "seminar caller", Limbaugh adroitly refused to accept the caller's premises. (After the call, the host explained that Clinton aide Dick Morris produced seminars many years ago, training Democrats to get on conservative shows and parrot Democrat talking points)."

Leftist Hollywood; Not just unashamed, but proud of their bias

Where Are You, Norman Lear?  "Unfortunately, Di Bona  is a high-ranking member of the Caucus. Disgusted by Di Bona's admissions, Lionel quit the Caucus. He was soon joined by mega-producer Norman Powell. "I knew most of my fellow members looked upon [conservative] political positions ... as distasteful,"
Chetwynd wrote in his resignation letter. "What I now understand is the disgust was not for their views, but for their very person. Such people, Mr. Shapiro's sources make clear, must be silenced, and it is therefore proper to make them suffer discrimination."
"The fallout was immediate and intense. The New York Times covered it. So did The Hollywood Reporter and Variety.
"But was Hollywood upset? Of course not." More...    By Ben Shapiro in Big Hollywood

Lionel Chetwynd’s Letter of Resignation to Caucus for Producers, Writers [and] Directors
..."I realize, now, the enormous special obstacles put in my path by my supposed colleagues, obstacles that over the years made earning a living or a quiet pursuit of my trade so unusually onerous, were not a matter of political difference; they were a declaration of my unworthiness to be one of them. The rejection was not of my ideas, but of my person." Via A Hollywood Republican

The exception that proves the rule? "Law and Order" does the right thing?
Surprisingly sensitive portrayals of pro-life views . . . on network TV?  "“I am used to seeing pro-lifers marginalized and dismissed as narrow minded religious zealots. This was one of the most fair-minded and even-handed presentations of this critical and persistent legal and moral issue.""

The above is a surprise because L and O usually does stuff like this: "Law [and] Order": another TV show that sucker-punches half the American population "  From the Tunnel Wall, Feb 28th, 2011.

Americans Will Suffer Under New Obamacare Mandates

Heritage  "Many businesses affected by Obamacare—those not lucky enough to receive the coveted waivers—now view their slimming insurance options with extreme caution.
"A shocking new study out by McKinsey and Company finds that 30–50 percent of employers who currently provide health insurance for their employees are likely to drop their coverage. Yes, that’s right. Even if you like your insurance, you will not be able to keep it, as President Obama often and famously promised.
"Obamacare offers subsidies to low- and middle-income workers who don’t have employer coverage while fining employers that do not offer coverage. But for employers, paying the fines will be a lot less expensive than continuing to offer coverage."

Britain, forgive him for he knows not what he does!

Our next Republican president should make an apology tour of our allies' capitals, bowing to them and apologizing for their treatment at the hands of the Obama administration. TD

Obama Top Ten Insults Against Britain 2011 "The American people must understand that the president of the United States does not have our good intentions. Obama is destroying the very fabric our founding fathers put forth onto this land. From the economy to national security, America is losing our exceptional status and maintaining world security. By alienating our allies like Great Britain and Israel, Obama is emboldening our enemies like Iran, Syria, Argentina, Nicaragua, North Korea, al-Qaeda, and the Muslim Brotherhood.
"Top 10 Obama Insults to Great Britain."...

Obama States the Falklands Does Not Belong to the British   "In doing so, the United States sided not only with Buenos Aires, but also with a number of anti-American regimes including Hugo Chavez’s Venezuela and Daniel Ortega’s Nicaragua.
"The declaration calls for Argentina and Great Britain to enter into negotiations over the sovereignty of the Falklands, a position which London has long viewed as completely unacceptable. "

As in the case of Israel, it it just Obama being Obama. He's scary enough, but the real terror is knowing that Americans are capable of electing someone like this man, merely because he is nothing more than a celebrity. TD

President Obama Should Side with Britain over the Falkland Islands  "The Special Relationship is vital to the interests of both the United States and Great Britain, and its preservation is of paramount importance to the defense of freedom and liberty across the world. It is time for President Obama to put his words into action by recognizing and supporting British sovereignty over the Falkland Islands and standing by America’s closest ally."  Nile Gardiner, Ph.D. via Heritage

Obama Welcomes Thieving African Dictator to White House…   "Jack Blum, a United Nations consultant and expert on offshore banking, said that the invitation sends a disturbing message. Blum estimates that in years past the Bongo family and its cronies have “siphon[ed] off 25 percent of the gross domestic product of the country. And it’s made them incredibly rich.”

Kirsten Powers, Anthony Weiner's Ex: He Lied to Me

The Daily Beast  "Anthony Weiner’s former girlfriend, Kirsten Powers, defended him on TV to millions of people after he insisted to her that he didn’t send lewd photos on Twitter. Now she takes him to task for his rampant misogyny—and says he must resign immediately."
It seems there was nobody he didn’t lie to. The New York Times reported this morning that he told donors a week ago that the scandal was the result of a “vast right-wing conspiracy” and that “everything [would] be fine.”
Kirsten Powers is a columnist for The Daily Beast. She is also a political analyst on Fox News and a writer for the New York Post. She served in the Clinton administration from 1993 to 1998 and has worked in New York state and city politics. Her writing has been published in the Wall Street Journal, USA Today, the New York Observer, Salon.com, Elle magazine, and American Prospect online.

Kirsten Powers is a liberal whom I respect for her ability to add to a dialog rather than destroy it. It is always such a relief to see her on "Fox News Watch" rather than the haranguing Alan Colmes.

2006 issue
Time, Newsweek Offered Cover Stories, 15 Pages to Mark Foley in 2006; But About 160 Tiny Words on Weinergate  "Obviously, there were no Anthony Weiner cover stories this week (dated June 13): Time had Dr. Oz, and Newsweek mocked Mitt Romney’s Mormonism as they promoted the vulgar South Park musical "The Book of Mormon." How many Weinergate pages inside? Do you have to guess? There's not a "page" at all.
"Time magazine was funnier: try reading the whole issue for any mention of Weiner. There’s no news story, no funny quote from Weiner about “certitude” in the “Verbatim” feature. Then on page 83, in tiny six-point type in the “Pop Chart” feature, there are these tiny words: “A college student received a lewd picture from his allegedly hacked Twitter account.”
"Thirteen words and an tiny, upside-down picture."

Victor Davis Hanson: Land of the Lawless

Victor Davis Hanson  "In that regard, an administration is sworn to uphold the established law; why, then, was the Defense of Marriage Act arbitrarily rendered null and void without legislative appeal, simply because it was considered illiberal by those now with executive power? "
....
"The Left simply disregards its former purported role as guardians of constitutional law, and grows quiet, again on the apparent logic that the rare progressive presidency is simply too precious a commodity to endanger by maintaining any consistent criticism in the manner it once went after the Bush administration.
"Imagine the reaction of the New York Times, NPR, or a Senator Obama, had a President Palin decided to bomb Iran off and on for 70 days without congressional consultation, or had she decided to throw open the US border to any from Europe who could fly in, or had she violated union contracts to favor junior Wall Street creditors, or had she demanded that an Al Gore organization plop down several million in a contingency fund for the damage it had done oil workers by obstructing efforts of companies to gain oil leases."

"Someone who was listening to Sharpton later decided to storm the store and start shooting, wounding several employees, and setting a fire that killed seven people.
"Of course, after all this, Sharpton became a pariah -- oh wait! In the opposite of being exiled, he became famous, ran for president as a Democrat and Al Gore kissed his ring, after these events.
"In January of this year, Sharpton was repeatedly rolled out as the expert commentator on civil discourse -- on NBC's "Meet the Press," NPR, CNN and MSNBC. As MSNBC's Ed Schultz said in introducing him, "Al Sharpton is on a crusade against hate speech on talk radio.""
