Watch This Color Footage Of Berlin Immediately After World War II

The end of Nazi rule is featured in this most excellent opening theme to "Judgment at Nuremberg",  "Wenn Wir Marschieren" (When we March).
Quite interesting is that the final dramatic scene showing the giant swastika being dynamited has been cut out of most videos of this. Not to offend any Nazis out there perhaps?  Watch it explode here

(Interesting side note is that Jewish Werner Klemperer, who played Colonel Klink in Hogan's heroes portrays one of the most evil characters in this movie.")

Buzzfeed  "The color video captures a slice of life in the German capital just two months after the fall of the Nazis."

Truly amazing how the Germans cleaned up their city in such a short time. Imagine if New Orleans had been a German city after Hurricane Katrina.

"Seventy years ago this Friday, the Allies celebrated “V-E Day” — victory in Europe over the Nazis and the rest of the [European] Axis powers."

How Not to Look at the Garland Attack  . . . "Criticizing and seeking to quash the targets of terrorism, rather than the fanatics who commit it, is the American Left’s own pathology. Terrorists cannot be accommodated out of existence. Addressing that reality plainly now will help us prevent attacks in the future — which are being planned, in Arizona and Aleppo, whatever Pamela Geller does or does not do."  Rich Lowry

Texas shooting: Outgunned traffic officer stopped 2 attackers "It wasn't a fair fight.
On one side, you had two men in body armor, toting assault rifles and showing every willingness to open fire now and count their victims later. On the other, you had a security officer -- a traffic officer by day -- with a pistol.

"Somehow, the officer won.

"Authorities have not released the name of the overmatched Garland, Texas, police officer who stopped a pair of gunmen Sunday night outside that city's Curtis Culwell Center, where people had gathered at an event featuring controversial cartoons of the Muslim Prophet Mohammed. But they have described what he did, actions that could be characterized as equal parts skillful, heroic and miraculous."

"U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson lauded the police officer for having "acted quickly and decisively, and thereby likely (saving) a number of innocent lives."

Water-Wasting Fines of Up to $10.000 Proposed by Gov. Jerry Brown

San Jose Mercury-News  "Residents and businesses could soon face that threat after Gov. Jerry Brown on Tuesday unveiled legislation that would increase potential penalties on the most flagrant water scofflaws and allow cities, counties and water districts to issue fines without having to go to court.

" 'As this drought stretches on, we'll continue to do whatever is necessary to help communities save more water," Brown said after meeting with California mayors, including San Jose's Sam Liccardo and Oakland's Libby Schaaf." . . .

Obama needs to tell black young men that cops are not the problem

 Political Cartoons by Steve Kelley

Silvio Canto, Jr.  "Let me salute all of the police officers from coast to coast who protect us and put their lives on the line every single day.
"Over the weekend, we learned that another police officer was shot.  We learned yesterday that he is dead.
"Sadly, there won't be any marches on behalf of this officer.
"Since Ferguson, we've seen this mad assault on the police.  It comes as part of a false narrative that white police officers are out to kill black young men.
"President Obama has a duty and responsibility to address this madness.  He can start by addressing the nation and speaking a few truths about the police and black young men.
"First, he can quote Politifact, referencing Juan Williams:
According to the CDC, homicide was indeed the No. 1 killer of black men between the ages of 15 and 34 in 2011. Accidents ranked second in causes of death, and suicide claimed the third amount of black male lives between 15 and 24 years old, while heart disease ranked third for men 24-34. [snip]
Compared to other ethnicities, the numbers really stand out. Forty percent of African-American males 15-34 who died were murdered, according to the CDC, compared to just 3.8 percent of white males who died. Overall, 14 percent of all men 15-34 who died in 2011 were murdered.
In 2011, black males 15-34 were 10 times more likely to die of murder than whites of the same age group.
"Second, he can tell black young men that they have a behavior problem.  You can't get a good job if you don't graduate from school.
"Third, he can call on black men to raise their children.  Over the weekend, John Blake posted a great commentary about a big missing piece in Baltimore:
We hear about the absence of black men from families, but what happens when they disappear from an entire community? West Baltimore delivered the answer to that question this week.
It's no accident that one of the most enduring images from the riot was a young mother spanking her son as she dragged him away from the protests. Where were the men in his life?
As I walked through my old streets, it was filled with nothing but black young women, children and teenage boys. It was as if an alien spaceship had come in the night and spirited all the older black men away.
 Political Cartoons by Ken Catalino
"President Obama is uniquely qualified to make this point.  He is a successful black man, a husband, and the father of two young women.
"It's up to him to make the case that the war on cops will not address the problems in the black community.  On the contrary, the war on cops will mean less investment (jobs) and more unsafe streets for the people living in these communities.

Yet Another ObamaCare Promise Bites The Dust As ER Visits Spike

Investors.com   "One of the key selling points of ObamaCare was that it was supposed to cut back on the overuse of expensive emergency rooms for routine care.
"The argument seemed to make sense. The uninsured can't afford to see a doctor, so they put off health care as long as they can, then head to the ER knowing that they won't have to pay.

" 'It's why those of us with health insurance are also paying a hidden and growing tax for those without it — about $1,000 per year that pays for somebody else's emergency room," President Obama explained in his 2009 speech to Congress on a government takeover of health care.

"By expanding insurance coverage, ObamaCare would cut this waste."  . . .

Islamic State claims responsibility for Texas attack outside Muhammad cartoon show

"The Islamic State claimed responsibility Tuesday for the thwarted attack outside a prophet Muhammad cartoon contest near Dallas, threatening to carry out “worse and more bitter” violence on American soil.

"The authenticity of the claim — announced on a Syria-based radio station operated by the militant group — could not be immediately verified.

"U.S. officials, speaking on condition of anonymity, suspect that the Islamic State did not direct the attack, but theorize the gunmen were inspired by the terrorist group’s propaganda, which includes an online English-language magazine. In recent months, the FBI has charged several people with alleged attempts to stage attacks in the United States.

"Sunday’s shootout in Texas represented the first time the Islamic State has announced links to a high-profile attack in the United States.

“ 'Two soldiers … of the caliphate attacked an exhibit in Garland in American Texas, and this exhibit was holding a contest for drawings offensive to the prophet Muhammad,” the militant group said on its al-Bayan radio station, according to the SITE Intelligence Group, which monitors radical factions around the world." . . .

. . . "The winner of the cartoon contest was Bosch Fawstin, a New York native born to Albanian Muslim immigrants. His entry featured a scowling, turbaned Muhammad saying: “You can’t draw me!”

"At the bottom of the cartoon he wrote: “That’s why I draw you.”

"The Islamic State has claimed responsibility for dozens of major attacks and slayings in Europe, North Africa and elsewhere. In October, a gunman shot and killed a ceremonial guard at a soldiers memorial in the Canadian capital of Ottawa before storming the nearby Parliament building, where he was fatally shot. Some investigators described the attacker as a potential “lone wolf” militant inspired by the Islamic State, but Canadian officials later said there were no credible links to the group."

On race relations today. . .

Poll: Race relations at their worst point since 1992
. . . " 2012 was a year in which the president inflamed tensions around the death of a Florida teen that was presumed to be a racially-inspired homicide. Only a year later was the victim of that teen’s assault vindicated by a criminal jury. It was a year when the Supreme Court was determined to be a willing participant in a racial conspiracy after they ruled that a 47-year-old law was hopelessly dated and violated the principles of federalism." . . .

. . . "It required substantial agitating by a professional class of provocateurs to create the conditions that finally led to violence in America’s streets."

Again, I must say that in frequent dealings with African-Americans in my community and in my church, I have experienced nothing but grace and friendliness from them. It leads one to think that there is some embarrassment over the evil things we all see in our society caused by this racial friction; that we want others to know we are all better than the Sharpton-Wright- Farrakhan Axis.  TD

The logical outcome of the Sharpton-types being: ANOTHER BLACK MAN KILLS A COP
“It’s with great regret and sadness that we announce the passing of New York City Police Officer Brian Moore. Shield number 469. New York City police officer, hero of the city, killed in the line of duty,’’ Police commissioner Bratton told reporters outside the hospital.

. . . " Well it has happened again, another black man kills a cop, but where is the outrage, where are the protests, is there an epidemic of blacks killing cops in this country? I don’t expect to see any outrage or protests, because in today’s upside down society the criminal, the bad guy, is the one that seems to get all the sympathy, the cops, the good guys, are the one’s being treated like the criminals." . . .
New York City Police Officer Brian Moore is seen in an undated picture released by the New York City Police Department. Moore, 25, a plainclothes police officer shot in the head over the weekend has died of his wounds, local media reported. Moore was shot on Saturday as he and his partner, sitting in an unmarked car in a residential neighborhood of Queens, were trying to question a local man wanted for illegal gun possession. New York City Police Officer Brian Moore is seen in an undated picture released by the New York City Police Department. Moore, 25, a plainclothes police officer shot in the head over the weekend has died of his wounds, local media reported.
"Here is a novel idea for the black leaders, instead of protesting when a black criminal dies, why don’t you teach young black men not to be criminals. Communities would be safer, jails would not be over crowded and lives would be saved. Making martyrs out of criminals will only make way for more criminals."

Rev. Al expresses anger over the murder of this police officer. Um, what? Wait. Oops, my mistake.
Al Jazeera takes note of the police shootings

The Hot Air article above closes with this positive quote:
. . .  Despite the best efforts of a class of professional agitators, racial progress is quantifiable. That is not to say that racism is not an issue, racial progress is never stifled by its adversaries, or that racial disparities have entirely disappeared or perhaps ever will. There are persistent inequalities of outcomes among the races that should anger every American, and many of them are perpetuated by a cast of well-meaning public servants in Washington. Perhaps perfect racial equality and harmony is a utopian goal that will never be achieved. But those who contend that race relations have not improved with historically atypical alacrity lack the evidence to support this contention.

ISIS claims responsibility for Garland jihad attack, making Pamela Geller a target
"Pamela Geller is apparently on the hit list of ISIS.  French press agency AFP reports that ISIS is claiming responsibility for the attack on the Draw Muhammad cartoon competition in Garland, Texas:

"Two of the soldiers of the caliphate executed an attack on an art exhibit in Garland, Texas, and this exhibit was portraying negative pictures of the Prophet Mohammad," the jihadi group said.
"We tell America that what is coming will be even bigger and more bitter, and that you will see the soldiers of the Islamic State (ISIS) do terrible things," the group announced.
It marked the first time the extremist group, which has captured swathes of territory in Syria and Iraq, claimed to have carried out an attack in the U.S.
"Pamela, a longtime AT contributor, is no shrinking violet.  She has announced that she wants to have more such events. " Video at the link

ISIS in America and the Importance of the Second Amendment . . . "Any discussion about the Second Amendment must take seriously the Islamic threat. The Second Amendment is not about hunting; it’s about defending ourselves from threats of force.

"Consider the following from Breitbart. “Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, the leader of the Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham (ISIS), sent a message to his fellow Sunni supporters to commemorate the Muslim holiday of Ramadan.

"Baghdadi wrote:
“Soon, by Allah’s permission, a day will come when the Muslim will walk everywhere as a master, having honor, being revered, with his head raised high and his dignity preserved. Anyone who dares to offend him will be disciplined, and any hand that reaches out to harm him will be cut off."

MAAMOUN YOUSSEF via Drudge   "CAIRO (AP) -- The Islamic State group claimed responsibility on Tuesday for a weekend attack at a center near Dallas, Texas, that was exhibiting cartoon depictions of the Prophet Muhammad - though it offered no evidence of a direct link to the attackers.

Iran Deal ad- Why are the Mullahs laughing?

Blackfive   "Secure Freedom (Center for Security Policy) has released a new ad showing the joy the Iran Deal has given to the Iranian regime. They couldn't be much happier. They are laughing because they know this deal gives them everything they want."

"President Obama announced a framework for a deal with Iran over its nuclear program last month. Not long after his press conference, the Iranians announced they didn’t agree to most of what the President was bragging about. It was almost as if the two sides were talking about completely different things.

Obama: "This framework would cut off every pathway that Iran could take to develop a nuclear weapon."

"The Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif didn’t quite see it that way.

"None of those measures include closing any of our facilities. The proud people of Iran would never accept that," he said.

"Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khameini took to Twitter to pour cold water on Obama’s celebration." . . .  Keep reading...

Baltimore; A Great Society Failure/ Not enough money? Baltimore got $1.8 billion from Obama Stimulus

Yet Baltimore students say they are using 20-year-old textbooks. Should we be looking for corruption at the administrative level? What other explanation could there be?  I'd say America has third-world voters who chose a third-world president and third-world local governments. TD

Thomas Lifson  "Last Tuesday, President Obama blamed the GOP-controlled Congress for its failure to fund the “massive investment in urban communities” that could “make a difference.”  Well, how does $1.8 billion for the 622,000 people of Baltimore sound?  Pretty massive – actually, just about $2900 for every man, woman, child, and baby of the entire City of Baltimore.

"But that’s the total amount of Obama Stimulus money sent to Charm City, according to an analysis by The Free Beacon:

The city of Baltimore received over $1.8 billion from President Barack Obama’s stimulus law, including $467.1 million to invest in education and $26.5 million for crime prevention.
"Moreover, that spending was concentrated in Baltimore’s inner-city areas:" . . .

Marytland Politically More Corrupt than Chicago or Illinois

Rich Lowry: Baltimore, a Great Society Failure. . . "Obama said, cuttingly, that this Congress won’t approve “massive investments in urban communities.” Dating back to the Kerner Commission in the aftermath of the riots of the 1960s, the left’s go-to solution to urban problems has been more social programs. Since then, we’ve gotten more social programs — and just as many urban problems.

"Exhibit A is Baltimore itself. The city hasn’t been “neglected.” It has been misgoverned into the ground. It is a Great Society city that bought into the big-government vision of the 1960s more than most, and the bitter fruit has been corruption, violence and despair.

"All you need to know about the confused ineffectuality of the city’s leadership was evident in the purposefully inadequate initial response to the mayhem, apparently on the theory that a little rioting is OK.

"And why not? The left has a soft spot for rioters." Read more: http://www.politico.com/magazine

ISIS Camp a Few Miles from Texas, Mexican Authorities Confirm

 isis_mexico

Judicial Watch "ISIS is operating a camp just a few miles from El Paso, Texas, according to Judicial Watch sources that include a Mexican Army field grade officer and a Mexican Federal Police Inspector.

"The exact location where the terrorist group has established its base is around eight miles from the U.S. border in an area known as “Anapra” situated just west of Ciudad Juárez in the Mexican state of Chihuahua. Another ISIS cell to the west of Ciudad Juárez, in Puerto Palomas, targets the New Mexico towns of Columbus and Deming for easy access to the United States, the same knowledgeable sources confirm.

"During the course of a joint operation last week, Mexican Army and federal law enforcement officials discovered documents in Arabic and Urdu, as well as “plans” of Fort Bliss – the sprawling military installation that houses the US Army’s 1st Armored Division. Muslim prayer rugs were recovered with the documents during the operation.

"Law enforcement and intelligence sources report the area around Anapra is dominated by the Vicente Carrillo Fuentes Cartel (“Juárez Cartel”), La Línea (the enforcement arm of the cartel) and the Barrio Azteca (a gang originally formed in the jails of El Paso). Cartel control of the Anapra area make it an extremely dangerous and hostile operating environment for Mexican Army and Federal Police operations.

"According to these same sources, “coyotes” engaged in human smuggling – and working for Juárez Cartel – help move ISIS terrorists through the desert and across the border between Santa Teresa and Sunland Park, New Mexico. To the east of El Paso and Ciudad Juárez, cartel-backed “coyotes” are also smuggling ISIS terrorists through the porous border between Acala and Fort Hancock, Texas. These specific areas were targeted for exploitation by ISIS because of their understaffed municipal and county police forces, and the relative safe-havens the areas provide for the unchecked large-scale drug smuggling that was already ongoing.

"Mexican intelligence sources report that ISIS intends to exploit the railways and airport facilities in the vicinity of Santa Teresa, NM (a US port-of-entry). The sources also say that ISIS has “spotters” located in the East Potrillo Mountains of New Mexico (largely managed by the Bureau of Land Management) to assist with terrorist border crossing operations. ISIS is conducting reconnaissance of regional universities; the White Sands Missile Range; government facilities in Alamogordo, NM; Ft. Bliss; and the electrical power facilities near Anapra and Chaparral, NM.
