Obama faces political minefield during Kenyan 'homecoming'

US president’s visit to land of his father has sparked Obama-mania, but critics question decision to meet Uhuru Kenyatta and Ethiopia’s authoritarian regime

Guardian   "Everyone thought Francis Oduor was dead. In fact the Kenyan international footballer had fled into the bush, walked four miles and gone into hiding after his house was torched. When he resurfaced, people were shocked and ashamed. “I was like the walking dead,” he said. “Everyone recoiled at the sight of me.”
"Like many survivors of the post-election violence in 2007-8 that claimed at least 1,100 lives here, Oduor feels that justice has not been done because no senior politician has been held to account. He therefore refuses to join in the state-sponsored euphoria around Barack Obama’s “homecoming” to Kenya, which begins on Friday night when Air Force One lands in east Africa’s biggest economy.

"It will be Obama’s first visit to the land of his father as US president and a far cry from a 1988 trip when his luggage got lost. He will be greeted by the stars and stripes flying all over the capital, Nairobi, and giant billboards and paintings bearing his face with slogans such as “Welcome home”. Last-minute beautification projects include the painting of street kerbs and planting of flowers and grass, while 10,000 police officers will protect the honoured guest.

"Yet beneath the shiny surface lies a political minefield." . . .

Lindsey Graham: “How To Destroy Your Old Cell Phone (That Donald Trump Won’t Stop Calling)”

Iran, sure...Hey, look! Climate change!

Thousands rally in Times Square against Iran deal  "An estimated 10,000 people jammed Times Square in New York City to rally against the Iran nuclear agreement.

"Apparently, that wasn't enough people to catch the attention of the New York Times, who feature a $15-an-hour minimum wage protest of a couple of dozen people on the front page, but not thousands rallying against the Iran deal."
. . .
"Indeed, Google News shows only a handful of news outlets who bothered to cover the rally, most of them foreign sources.  CNN has nothing on the rally, either.  The Washington Post front page features a story about Kerry's salesmanship, but not a word about the rally." . . .

TRUMP OPPONENTS TAKE NUANCED VIEW OF CHILD RAPE

Ann Coulter   "There are few sexual perversions not celebrated by our media today, but I gather, from decades of flood-the-zone coverage of even the most preposterous allegations of rape, that liberals are still on record as being against rape.

"So it's worth examining the cultures we're introducing to America for the purpose of giving the Democrats votes and businesses cheap labor:

-- Seventy-seven percent of reported sexual assaults in Lima, Peru, are against child victims, according to the Latin American and Caribbean Youth Network for Sexual and Reproductive Rights (REDLAC).
-- A U.N. Special Rapporteur concluded that the only explanation for "the high degree of impunity for violence against women" in Guatemala was that "at least some of the violence was committed by the authorities."
-- CNN reports that 318 10-year-old girls gave birth in Mexico in 2011.
"In all of Western Europe, the United States, Canada, Australia and New Zealand combined, there have been eight reported births to girls aged 10 or younger. Seven of the eight involved Third World immigrants." . . .

Liberal Silliness 7/23/15

MIT Fellow: America Founded On “White Power,” Time To “Burn The Tent Of Whiteness Down”…     "Earlier this summer, Boston University Sociology Professor Saida Grundy was the center of controversy over comments she made on social media disparaging white males. And just across the Charles River, an academic at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology has been making similar statements on social media.

"MIT Postdoctoral Fellow Chanda Prescod-Weinstein has consistently directed denigrating Twitter and Facebook posts at America, the Founding Fathers, and white males." . . .Boldness mine, TD
College professor, check; hyphenated name, check; white guilt, check. Yep, she's the real deal.

How #BlackLivesMatter may wind up sinking the Democrats
. . . "As it turns out, I was completely wrong. Ross was referring not to the PR disaster as it resonated outside of those hallowed halls, but to the failure of Democrat candidates to understand just how unforgivable O’Malley’s “gaffe” was at the event." . . .

Government Backed Feminist ‘Re-Education’ Workshops For Schoolboys
. . . "Students from Oxford University, where they run compulsory “consent workshops” for students, started The Good Lad workshop. The classes have now gone into schools, where they go far beyond conventional sex-education, seeking to indoctrinate boys into a feminist worldview and to reject “toxic masculinity”." . . .

#BlackLivesMatter Folks Go After Black ESPN Commentator Stephen Smith For Defending ‘All Lives Matter’ Comment   . . . " Weighing in on the divisive “black lives matter” movement, Smith asked Twitter why there’s not outrage among “black lives matter” advocates when “black folks are killing black folks." ”

Obama’s Disastrous Deal with Iran

Conservative Daily News    "It’s disturbing to witness the collapse of logic, especially when perpetrated by our own president. After all, if we were to believe what so many of his devotees claim prima facie, he’s among the smartest on the planet. But his nuclear deal with Iran proves to the contrary; not just by its terms, but his illogic in support of it." . . .

"Obama added that no better deal was or is possible than the one he has negotiated. Since the bargaining table was approached from a position of weakness, acquiescence, and appeasement, he’s likely correct. But if the process had been approached from a position of strength, like Reagan did with the Soviet Union at the height of the Cold War, then the final agreement would have been much more inhibiting to Iranian nuclear ambitions, and we, and our allies, could have come away from the negotiations feeling much safer and assured.". . .

"The President also claimed that “no one has presented any alternatives” to his plan. All I can say is, it must be nice to live in a vacuous tunnel where the only voice one hears is their own, and those who echo his! If negotiations had been approached from a position of strength, we would have four Americans on the way home, rather than continuing to languish as political prisoners in Iranian prisons.". . .

Will Someone Please Explain Diversity to Me?

Claire Hawks

. . . "The Academy Awards weren't diverse enough this year for Jesse Jackson.  I always thought that the writers, cast, crew, etc. were picked for their ability to do a good job and earn money for the company producing the film.  I wasn't aware until this year that we should have had quotas, or counted the number of people of each race who participated in the making of a film.  Thanks for that, Jesse.  I'll be sure to count all the people in every film I see from now on to make sure that proper percentages are represented.  Maybe the races and ethnicities of the producers, directors, cast, and crew should be listed in the credits to ensure that we are going to see diverse films.  Films are rated for violence, language, and sexual content.  Maybe we should be working on a diversity score so you would know instantly whether or not the film you were seeing is appropriately diverse.  And now, the Emmys aren't diverse enough, even though the two women nominated for best actress are both black." . . . Hero to the end: Gunnery Sgt. Thomas Sullivan, Springfield Marine killed in Chattanooga attack, went to aid fellow Marines when he was fatally shot

Mass Live "He was a hero right to the end, according to those who served with Marine Gunnery Sgt. Thomas Sullivan, one of four Marines killed in a deadly attack in Chattanooga, Tennessee, on Thursday, in what some officials are calling an ISIS-inspired attack.

"Sullivan, a Springfield native raised in East Forest Park, was running to save his wounded colleagues when he, too, was shot. He didn't survive.

"Known as "Gunny" to his fellow Marines, Sullivan "died a hero yesterday," Marine Sgt. Amanda Vincent told Sullivan's family, who gathered Friday at the Hampden home of his parents, Gerry and Betty Sullivan, to celebrate the life of the 40-year-old, two-time Purple Heart recipient and Iraq veteran.

" 'The only thing on his mind was if his Marines were OK. He had a chance to jump the fence and run, but instead he ran back to make sure (I) and the others inside and the Marines that were shot were OK," Vincent said in a message to the Sullivan family." . . .

Obama to Largest Abortion Provider: 'God Bless You'

Weekly Standard   " 'As long as we've got to fight to make sure women have access to quality, affordable health care, and as long as we've got to fight to protect a woman's right to make her own choices about her own health, I want you to know that you've also got a president who's going to be right there with you, fighting every step of the way," said Obama. "Thank you, Planned Parenthood. God bless you.' "

UPDATE:  Obama to Jon Stewart: IRS targeting of Tea Party never happened
"In an interview for the "Daily Show," President Obama told host Jon Stewart that the IRS targeting of the Tea Party didn't happen and that Congress was really to blame for passing what he called a "crummy law," the Washington Times reported Tuesday. According to Obama, the real problem with the IRS was a lack of money, not a lack of ethics.

"The Daily Caller's Jim Treacher minced no words, and said Obama lied to Stewart's face. Worse yet, Obama claimed the law passed by Congress was worded so poorly that IRS employees implemented the law "poorly and stupidly."

" 'Boy, you really do have only a year left,"Stewart said. But Obama wasn't finished playing the blame game and continued, telling Stewart that Congress did not provide enough funds for the IRS and the Department of Veterans Affairs to work properly." . . .

Kiss Chinatown goodbye under Obama data-mined racial quota system?
" Obama admin racial data mining is about loss of freedom, not ending discrimination."

"In the NY Post, Paul Sperry of the Hoover Institution, highlights how massive data mining by numerous branches of the Obama administration is set to light a fire nationwide even where there is no government-sponsored, or intentional private discrimination in order to recreate communities and businesses, Obama collecting personal data for a secret race database:

A key part of President Obama’s legacy will be the fed’s unprecedented collection of sensitive data on Americans by race. The government is prying into our most personal information at the most local levels, all for the purpose of “racial and economic justice.” . . .

1938 and 2015: Only the Names Are Different

Dennis Prager

"We say that evil is dark. But this metaphor is imprecise. Evil is actually intensely bright, so painfully bright that people look away from it. Many even deny its existence.

"Why? Because once people acknowledge evil's existence, they know they have to confront it. And most people prefer not to confront evil.

"That is what led to World War II. Many in the West denied the darkness of Nazism. They looked the other way when that evil could have been stopped and then appeased it as it became stronger.

"We are reliving 1938. British Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain went to Munich to negotiate with Adolf Hitler. He left believing Hitler's promises of peace in exchange for Germany being allowed to annex large parts of Czechoslovakia. Upon returning to England, Chamberlain announced, "Peace for our time." . . .

How Obama abandoned allies for African dictators

http://activistnewsletter.blogspot.com/2014/07/07-15-14-truth-about-gaza.html
American Thinker    "Few moves taken by the Obama administration have been more consequential and less explored than his disastrous foreign policy. While ObamaCare, immigration reform, and his now famous ‘rule-by-decree’ have long been under media’s scrutiny, a patchwork of diplomatic missteps have failed to rise to the top of the media cycle. However, historians looking back at America’s first black president will surely point out that his most fateful legacy has been shifting our country’s foreign policy center of gravity away from some of our closest allies in favor of a motley group of questionable leaders.

"In the right corner:

"For the first time in half a century, the U.S is changing its system of alliances, especially in the Middle East -- Obama has pivoted away from Israel and Saudi Arabia, made a mess of Libya, Egypt, and Syria, cozied up to Iran, and struck bargains with uncouth African dictators.

"Take Israel. Michael Oren, Israel’s ambassador to the U.S. up until 2013, caused a media firestorm in June with his provocative op-ed published in the Wall Street Journal that explained in an unexpectedly frank manner how Obama “abandoned Israel”." . . .Read more
