Howard Zinn Update: High School History Teacher Throws Out Textbooks For Radical Marxist ‘History’ Book

"The race riots, destruction of historical monuments, the Pulitzer Prize winning 1619 Project, and the damaging notion of collective American guilt and specifically, white guilt, are all products of the Zinn narrative."

Howard Zinn’s radical revisionist ‘history’ book, 'A People’s History' of The United States, is the new normal in the American education system.

"A young high school history teacher, named Annie, posted a TikTok video raving about Howard Zinn’s “A People’s History of the United States,” which she explains will be her new classroom textbook.
"Howard Zinn’s 1980 left-wing revisionist history book, “A People’s History of the United States,” is a Marxist’s take on American history. This class warfare, victim narrative, famously praised by Matt Damon in his 1997 academy award winning movie, Good Will Hunting, has sold more than two million copies and gone through five editions. In short, the book is a Marxist narrative whereby American history is viewed exclusively through the prism of race and class.
"In her TikTok video, posted in the wake of the George Floyd riots, Annie explains she will no longer be using official textbooks in her classroom because they “omit a lot of the truth from our past.” Ironically, “A People’s History” is replete with factual omission to twist history in order to fit a narrative of American shame. For example, according to “A People’s History,” the American Revolution was waged in order to defeat “potential rebellions and create a consensus of popular support for the rule of a new, privileged leadership”. Civil War soldiers fighting to preserve the Union were deceived by “an aura of moral crusade” against slavery which “worked effectively to dim class resentments against the rich and powerful, and turn much of the anger against ‘the enemy.'”
"Interestingly, Howard Zinn made no bones about his motivation and goals for writing “A People’s History.” Reputable historians attempt to teach history without being selective and misleading. Zinn on the other hand, openly admitted that he became a historian in order to inspire a social revolution, “I came to history with a very sort of modest objective, I wanted to change the world.' ” . . .
It will take a massive effort on the part of honest historians to undo the damage done by Howard Zinn and restore the truth about America’s founding, shortcomings and proud history as the architects of freedom and self-government. Eva Duffy

UPDATE: How Howard Zinn’s Anti-American Textbook Inspired The Antifa Bombing Attempt  . . . "Zinn’s ‘History’ Text Preys on the Naïve and Uninformed.
"By any reasonable definition, Zinn’s book does not deserve to have “history” in the title. Zinn’s book is filled with lies, omissions, distortions of evidence, logical fallacies, and plagiarism from dubious sources. In my forthcoming book, “Debunking Howard Zinn,” I detail all of these critical problems. I also describe Zinn’s life, from budding teenage communist to Pied Piper professor at Spelman College and Boston University, and globe-trotting anti-American agitator." . . .
“A People’s History” places a wildly disproportionate amount of focus on the past sins of the United States. The work teaches students to view history through the lens of toxic identity politics. The enslavement of blacks and women, exploitation and murder of workers and Indians, imprisonment of political dissidents, and America’s World War II treatment of Japanese-born Americans all get prime billing. For Zinn, America is irredeemable and merits comparisons to Nazi Germany.

Today is the day to talk about the blacks who didn’t riot

We have to get the Sharptons and Waters' out of our minds. TD

Bookworm
The media keeps the focus on blacks whom leftists have taught to hate. In America, though, there are probably more blacks who don’t hate. Here are 3 of them.

"I went to the gun store again today, which is always a pleasant way to pass time. (By the way, thanks to all of you for your helpful ideas about which guns to buy.) Having handled about a dozen semi-automatics and test-fired the top three candidates, I think I’m going to get a Ruger because it fits my hands. I also stocked up on ammo. Better to have it when you don’t need it, than to need it an not have it.
"As always, I find gun stores and ranges delightful places to be. The employees are friendly and helpful — and so are the other shoppers. If you say “Hi, how’s your day?” to a gun store shopper, they’ll stop and answer and you’ll have a nice conversation. Which gets me to my first story about the blacks who didn’t riot.
"Regarding racism, my friend and I were standing in line outside the store (stores here are open but they have to limit the number of customers), when a black man came to stand in line behind us. I immediately said hello to him and asked him how his day was going. He responded that his day was great and asked us how ours was going. A little civil chit-chat followed.
"Then, bless him, this young man went out of his way to assure us that he was not someone who hated us because of our skin color. He didn’t say so directly. Instead, he told us that it’s great to have guns and that people here have them because “We’re all in this together.” Those stupid rioters, he said, they burned a car and made some mess, but they’re not who we are.
"It was an utterly endearing thing to do, and further conversation revealed that he was as nice as his first instincts showed him to be. But his kind gesture also made us aware of how much the world has changed. Once upon a time, nice white people hastened to assure black people not to worry. Now it’s the other way around. I want to us all, black, white, Hispanic, Asian, blue, green, purple, to live in a world in which such assurances are unnecessary, but I am so grateful to those who realize we’re not in that world yet and who make the effort to ensure that their own little patch of earth is a friendly place." . . .

Let’s ‘Demonetize’ NBC News And Google

Go to any far-left website and you’re likely to find hate-filled comments, offensive language, and calls for violence and mayhem, right next to ads placed there by Google’s ubiquitous ad network.

I & I Editorial Board  "This week saw a depressing new low in the attempt by the left to silence voices with which it disagrees when an NBC News “reporter” tried to enlist Google to block two conservative websites’ ability to make money.
"In a report on Tuesday, NBC News’ London-based Adele-Momoko Fraser claimed that Google had banned The Federalist and Zero Hedge from its ad platform over articles that were “pushing unsubstantiated claims about the Black Lives Matter protests.”
"Google soon tried to correct the record, saying that “The Federalist was never demonetized.” Google had only threatened to blacklist the site from its ad network. (It did “demonetize” Zero Hedge.)
"What’s more, contrary to NBC News, Google’s actions against The Federalist and Zero Hedge had nothing to do with articles they published, but with reader comments on those sites. Google told Fox News that it has “strict publisher policies that govern the content ads can run on, which includes comments on the site. This is a longstanding policy.”
"It turns out that not only did NBC’s Fraser botch the story, she also played an active role in generating the “news” in the first place. It was NBC News that notified Google of “research conducted by the Center for Countering Digital Hate,” a heretofore unknown and sketchy outfit, which got the ball rolling.
"When her initial story published, Fraser tweeted out a cheery thanks to the CCDH for “their hard work and collaboration.”
"Since Fraser hasn’t been fired or disciplined – that we know of – it’s apparently acceptable at NBC News for a reporter to actively try to silence other journalists, while playing fast and loose with the facts. So long as it’s in service of a leftist agenda. This isn’t media bias. This is media malpractice." . . . Full article...

Our concerns over Trump far outweighed by fear and dread of Democrats

Bolton kneels to libs, collects $2 million
Conservatives burned by Bolton can cry that he will never be invited to their parties again, but he does not care. He wants the coveted John Dean seat, where you go on CNN and pronounce every act by any Republican president as worse than Watergate. Dean's getting up there in age. He's the RGB seat for former Republican swamp critics.
The media suddenly loves the far-right, neo-con, war-mongering, dangerous John Bolton . . . "Bolton says that Trump caters to dictators he likes. He clearly is mixed up as to which president he is referring to.
"It was Obama/Biden, not Trump who:
  • Catered to the Castros and Cuba.
  • Gave kickbacks and rewards to the terrorist tyrants in Iran who pledge death to America.
  • Did not honor commitment to put missile shields in Poland and the Czech Republic to appease Putin.
  • Refused to give defensive weapons to Ukraine to appease Putin.
  • Had Putin monitor the chemical weapons of Assad and Syria.
  • It was Obama/Biden and several previous Presidents that continually allowed manufacturing jobs to China.
"On that last point, to take just one of them, Trump has been fighting to bring them back since he took office." . . .
National Review likes Bolton but... . . . "Bolton is a longtime friend of this publication and we take his honesty as a given. Any credibility contest between him and Donald Trump is laughably lopsided.
"That said, Bolton is facing legitimate questions about the propriety of taking a sensitive, high-level job in an administration and then immediately turning his experience into a best-selling book when back out of office. He’s also getting dinged for having information that he believed would have made the case for impeaching the president more compelling, yet not sharing it while impeachment proceedings were ongoing (although there would have been complications — including disputes over what material was classified or privileged — and nothing he said would have changed minds in the Senate)." . . .
NR wanted Trump impeached but was disappointed by the "Stache".

U.S. Trade Rep Shoots Down John Bolton’s Outrageous Claim About Trump: “Absolutely untrue, never happened. I was there.”  "Before anyone takes a word of John Bolton’s new book seriously, they should be reminded that Bolton refused to testify under oath without a subpoena and that Democrats didn’t want to subpoena him because, without lying, he had nothing." . . .

Adam Schiff: Democrats May Investigate Claims Against Trump in Bolton Book
Schiff, who led the Ukraine-related impeachment trial against Trump, told CBS News he would be discussing with top Democrats whether Bolton's claims warrant further inquiries.

Portland: George Washington Statue Torn Down, Draped in Burning U.S. Flag

"A statue of George Washington, the first president of the United States, was toppled and draped in a burning American flag by protesters in Portland, Oregon, on Thursday evening.
"KOIN 6 reports:
Thursday marked the 21st day of protests in Portland sparked by the death of George Floyd at the hands of Minneapolis police. Two groups — Rose City Justice and Lavender Caucus — hosted a sit-in rally at Jefferson High School in the evening where community members shared their experiences with racism to a crowd of a few hundred. The group did not hold a march.
A separate group of about 20 people met at NE Sandy Boulevard and NE 57th Avenue around 10 p.m. at the site of a large bronze statue of George Washington. Some wrapped the statue’s head in an American flag and lit the flag on fire. Their numbers grew over the next hour until there were enough people to pull the statue to the ground. They quickly scattered. A KOIN 6 News crew found the statue face down and covered in graffiti. Portland police arrived a short time later.

"Meg is the daughter of a cop. As such, she understands what families of law enforcement go through…
"…Sadly, the recent high school graduate is coming face to face with just how vile and depraved some people can be in their hatred for EVERY cop and ALL those who love and support them.
"Recently, she posted supportive statements on her personal social media page, only to have people, many of whom she considered friends, lash out at her and her family and then block her.

Furious Americans Slam Nancy Pelosi After She Presents Folded Flag to George Floyd’s Brother

100% FedUp  June 15: "The latest stunt by Nancy Pelosi is so outrageous that it was being called “fake news.” It’s true, and it happened today.

"Democrat Nancy Pelosi presented George Floyd’s brother with a folded flag today, enraging families across America. The hashtag #FloydWasNoHero is trending on Twitter, and comments like the ones below are slamming Pelosi for this stunt. Many families of veterans commented about this stunt thinking it’s only reserved for the military but, another Twitter comment enlightened everyone that this is a Congressional “perk”…This is STILL outrageous because, as one woman said below, the flag was the only thing her family received upon her veteran father’s death. This cheapens the gesture no matter what."

A United States burial casket flag drapes the casket of deceased veterans to honor the memory of their service to the country. The ceremonial folding and presentation of the flag is a moving tribute of lasting importance to the veteran's family.

Senators React to Trump’s Dangerous Appointment of John Bolton as National Security Advisor

WIN WITHOUT WAR is referred to in this post from Jack Hellner: But let's take a trip down memory lane to see what the left had been saying about Bolton before turned on Trump

Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-CT): John Bolton’s poor judgment and record of reckless right-wing warmongering should disqualify him from any White House role, much less National Security Advisor.
Sen. Chris Coons (D-DE): Ambassador Bolton’s stated positions on today’s major issues, most notably North Korea’s and Iran’s nuclear programs, are overly aggressive at best and downright dangerous at worst.
Sen. Tim Kaine (D-VA): (1/2) This is the new National Security Advisor? Disqualified by horrible judgment and dangerous for America and the world.
Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY): Mr. Bolton’s tendency to try to solve every geopolitical problem w/ the American military first is a troubling one.
Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA): .@realDonaldTrump promised to reduce US involvement in wars overseas, but his new National Security Advisor has never met a war he didn’t like. The last thing we need is someone like John Bolton who embraces military solutions first and puts us all at risk.
. . .
"Know what this reminds us of? Creepy porn lawyer Michael Avenatti, now a career criminal, who went on CNN 121 time and MSNBC 108 times to serve the left's attempt to destroy Trump.
"At one time he was touted as a presidential candidate to run against Trump in 2020.

"Michael Avenatti once dominated cable news. Now he’s watching it."

SDG&E Worker Fired Over Alleged Racist Gesture Says He Was Cracking Knuckles

For background on this, we covered it here: 4chan trolling turned the OK sign into a symbol of hate  "In February 2017, 4chan users started the hoax "Operation O-KKK," a call to spread the sign around the internet and claim it as a symbol of white supremacy. The anonymous 4channer who started it added a graphic demonstrating how the gesture could spell out the letters WP for "white power." The same month, Media Matters for America accused Gateway Pundit founder Jim Hoft, who made the gesture in a photograph in the White House press briefing room, of using a "hate symbol." . . .
These fearful people scared to death of the millennial Taliban, took away a man's living out of panic!
NBC 7 spoke to the man who originally posted the picture on Twitter. He has since deleted his account and said he may have gotten "spun up" about the interaction and misinterpreted it. He says he never intended for Cafferty to lose his job.

Weasel Zippers  "A complete media fiction and people are still being fired or punished for this nonsense. No one is allowed to crack their knuckles anymore.
It all started about two weeks ago near a Black Lives Matter rally in Poway when Emmanuel Cafferty, a San Diego Gas and Electric employee, encountered a stranger on the roadway.
The stranger followed Cafferty and took a picture of him as his arm hung out the window of his company truck.
The picture made the rounds on Twitter accompanied by a claim Cafferty was making a “white power” hand gesture made popular by white supremacists groups. ‘Today Is a Great Day to Celebrate’: San Diego DACA Recipients Praise Supreme Court Decision
According to the Anti-Defamation League, the gesture — made by forming a circle with the thumb and index finger, and extending and separating the other three fingers — has been used in recent years by white supremacists to form the letters W and P, but has also long been used as a sign signifying “OK” or approval. Therefore it shouldn’t be assumed to be a white supremacy symbol unless there is other evidence to support those claims, according to the ADL.

Colossal Screw-up: Did You Catch What an NBC News Reporter Tweeted in Their Hit Job Against The Federalist?

Matt Vespa

"Well, it looks like NBC News’ Verification Center tried to go after conservative news sites and ended up peddling fake news instead. It comes after a story they pushed claiming that Google has demonetized The Federalist. Yet, Google denied they did any such thing, even refuting it on their Twitter account. This forced NBC News to edit their piece

"Remember to the Left, words are violence. Silence is violence. And therefore, anything that makes them uncomfortable is violent and hateful and any pieces criticizing the Black Lives Matter movement could slate you for demolition by the left-wing mob. Cornell Law Professor William Jacobson is now facing calls for his firing after his blog, Legal Insurrection, published a couple of posts criticizing BLM."

Judge Napolitano on Rayshard Brooks case: Murder charge against Atlanta officer is 'catastrophic mistake'

According to Napolitano, the murder charge was either done because Howard is up for re-election in Fulton County this year or to "pander to the crowd."
Fox News

"It was a "catastrophic mistake" to bring a murder charge against one of the police officers involved in the shooting of 27-year-old Rayshard Brooks, Fox News senior judicial analyst Judge Andrew Napolitano asserted Thursday.

"Appearing on "Fox & Friends," Napolitano stated that the 11 charges against 27-year-old former Atlanta police officer Garrett Rolfe -- including the felony murder charge, which could potentially lead to the death penalty -- are "grossly inflated."

" 'Look, if there's a jury trial, here's what the judge is going to say to the jurors before they start deliberating. If that police officer reasonably believed that Mr. Brooks was using or was about to use deadly force on him, the police officer, then the police officer is permitted to use deadly force to protect himself," he explained. "Secondly, the determination of what was in the police officer's mind is not what a reasonable civilian would do, but what a reasonable police officer would do."

"Brooks, a father of four, was shot and killed almost a week ago outside a Wendy’s restaurant where he’d apparently fallen asleep in his car in the drive-thru lane. He allegedly failed a field sobriety test -- and ultimately was seen wrestling with the officers and running with one of their Tasers leading up to the shooting.
