Rush Talks to Conrad Black About President Trump

RUSH: We rarely on this program have guests, but we do make exceptions. Today is such an exception. We are happy to welcome back Conrad Black, who is a noted columnist, author, broadcast and media baron now residing in Canada and author of a new book, a paperback version update of a book he published two years ago, it’s called A President Like No Other: Donald J. Trump and the Restoring of America.

Rush Limbaugh and Conrad Black on the press . . . Lord "I think they feel that he is threatening their influence in the political life of the country and they don’t like it. Now, add to that most of them tend to be leftish and snobbish. And leftists and snobs don’t much care for Donald Trump because he is not a man of the left, although he’s certainly not a reactionary, either. He’s a man of the people, but not the left. And they are of course not the same thing. And he is informal and straight talking and politically incorrect. And that tends to incite stupefying levels of snobbery.

"And he is the victim of that, but he’s also the beneficiary of that because as all the polls indicate, the media are in a uniquely low repute in the country. And incidentally, you haven’t raised this, but I will if (unintelligible), I think that that whole state of affairs is worrisome because we have to have a free press to have a functioning democracy, and we can’t have any one government or anyone else tampering with it. But we have a very inferior press, not only the United States, but it’s a problem throughout the advanced western countries.

"And when the public disdains the press, I believe that is eventually dangerous situation. We have to have a free press that is respected. But it can only be respected if it earns that respect. And as you said a minute ago, the conduct of the media at this election campaign has been absolutely scandalous. They are full of malice, and they are liars. And one hesitates to use such inflammatory phrases, but I cannot take issue with the president when he said they are enemies of the people. To the extent that they deliberately misinform the public, that’s what they are, enemies." . . .

Will Democrats try to ‘Bork’ or ‘Kavanaugh’ SCOTUS nominee Amy Coney Barrett? (Reader Poll)

Legal Insurrection  "Republican Supreme Court nominees repeatedly have been attacked at a personal level not directed at Democrat nominees.

"The term to “Bork” a nominee grew out of the Democrat treatment of Reagan nominee Robert Bork, and we all saw how Brett Kavanaugh was mistreated just two years ago.

"What does it mean to be Borked or Kavanaughed? We’ll know it when we see it.

"Will Amy Coney Barrett receive the “Bork” and “Kavanaugh” treatment?

"So far, there was an initial burst of venom directed at her, including questioning her adoption of two children from Haiti, and of course the anti-Catholic bigotry she faced when she was nominated for the Court of Appeals in 2017. The hysterics also have centered around Obamacare and Roe v. Wade. But so far, it’s kid stuff compared to what Bork and Kavanaugh (and Thomas, and Alito, and Estrada, etc.) have gone through.

"The hearings start October 12, with two more days of questioning, then a floor vote on October 22. So Democrats have some time. Remember, with Kavanaugh the fake sexual assault allegations came out after the committee hearings were over. So the end of the hearings is not the end of the threat. Until the floor vote, she is vulnerable.

"Right now, there is no doubt they are digging into her childhood, teen years, and college years, hopring to find someone to accuse her of something. They also not doubt are scouring her friends, family, and her husband’s connections also. These are really bad people, they will do anything if they think they can get away with it.

"So, the poll is: Will Democrats try to ‘Bork’ or ‘Kavanaugh’ SCOTUS nominee Amy Coney Barrett?" . . .

McConnell Suspends Senate Floor Proceedings, Judge Barrett’s Hearings Remain on Schedule

Republicans are almost certain to confirm an outstanding judge. But a simmering anti-Catholicism threatens to break through.  "The Democrats have essentially given up on blocking the confirmation of Judge Amy Coney Barrett to the Supreme Court. This does not imply, however, that they will fail to turn her hearings into a nasty farce of smears of the nominee as an adherent to a voodoo-like religious devotion, and a passionate seeker of an America with no assisted healthcare and back-alley abortions. " . . .

No, Amy Coney Barrett’s Confirmation Won’t Necessarily End Roe v. Wade

A close look at Amy Coney Barrett's legal writings indicates deep respect for the precedent set by landmark Supreme Court cases.

Dangerous Talk From Stupid People

Townhall   "Understand that when someone tells you he wants you dead, he wants you dead.

"And that’s a very dangerous thing to want, because the intended victim gets a say, and he may start saying the same thing about you. I could talk about walking through the wrecked villages of Kosovo – villages that had mostly belonged to the Serbs who started the civil war then lost it – but that is probably going to be lost on the pampered and parochial left. History, be it modern Balkans or ancient, such as the cautionary tale that was the decline and fall of the Roman Republic, is something they are too smart to bother studying. They know what they think and what they want and they can’t be bothered with pests nagging them about how their paucity of wisdom could very well set into motion events they cannot control and that are unlikely to turn out in the way they hope.

"We saw a lot of it – a lot of it – in response to the president’s pangolin pandemic diagnosis. Wishing that your opponent dies of a disease is pretty bad, but some go beyond the passive voice when hoping for our deaths. They seek to do it. Exhibit A is tech overlord Dick Costolo, a former Twitter CEO apparently, who tweeted on September 30 th , “Me-first capitalists who think you can separate society from business are going to be the first people lined up against the wall and shot in the revolution. I'll happily provide video commentary.” So Dick, which by coincidence also happens to also be your name, you want to play horsey, huh?

. . .

"One challenge for the dilettantes of death is to find the people who would actually commit political murder for them, but money and institutional inertia make that possible. As we have seen, woke zillionaires can fund their own lil’ revolutionaries. They are the ones behind Antifa, and if Donald Trump is reelected, we will likely see the DoJ (once Trump rids himself of the worse than useless FBI Director Christopher Wray, who never met self-serving establishment narrative he didn’t eagerly hump like a horny dog rubbing on the nearest leg) forced by Bill Barr to concede that this is an Astroturfed RICO conspiracy paid for by rich leftists. Yet, Antifa is not a combat organization (unless you are one person surrounded by a dozen of these brownshirts) but an information operation asset." . . .

Victor Davis Hanson on The Full Crowley

Tony Branco

In other words, [CNN's Candy] Crowley became a real-time, partisan fact-checker, rather than a moderator—but of a peculiar sort that did not fully assume her new role until Obama himself was desperate for a bailout.

Victor Davis Hanson  "In the second presidential election debate between President Barack Obama and Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney on October 16, 2012, CNN moderator Candy Crowley sensed that Obama, coming off a dismal initial September 26 debate, was again floundering.

"Romney was driving home the valid point that the Obama Administration had inadequately prepared the American mission in Benghazi for likely terrorist attacks. And such laxity resulted in a horrific attack and the deaths of four Americans, including the U.S. ambassador.

"Yet in the wake of the attacks, Team Obama denied that the killing of four Americans was indeed an act of terror. Instead, it fed the public a transparently but politically correct false narrative of a spontaneous riot in reaction to a video posted by a purported right-wing Egyptian residing on American soil.

"Yet in the debate, Obama retorted: “The day after the attack, governor, I stood in the Rose Garden and I told the American people and the world that we are going to find out exactly what happened. That this was an act of terror and I also said that we’re going to hunt down those who committed this crime.”

"Romney pounced: “You said in the Rose Garden the day after the attack it was an act of terror? It was not a spontaneous demonstration—is that what you’re saying? I want to make sure we get that for the record because it took the president 14 days before he called the attack in Benghazi an act of terror.”

"Romney was correct. Obama took two weeks before he eventually jettisoned his administration’s concocted “spontaneous demonstrations” party line that his subordinates—Susan Rice in particular, to her eternal embarrassment—had been peddling to the American people.

"Yet in the debate, Obama flailed with a weak, “Get the transcript.”

"In truth, Obama in his comments after the attack had simply offered, “No acts of terror will ever shake the resolve of this great nation, alter that character, or eclipse the light of the values that we stand for”—a deliberate effort not to name Benghazi specifically in the context of a terrorist act.

Speculation mounts about the source of President Trump’s illness

"If you read one thing today it should be this". Lucianne.

Deborah Franklin  "The dramatic events of the last week will be studied for decades, and much information remains unknown. In the early morning of Friday, October 2nd, President Trump tweeted that he and the First Lady had tested positive for COVID. That evening, after reports that the President was running a fever, he checked in to Walter Reed National Medical Center for treatment. Immediately, speculation began about how he caught the virus and the nature of its severity.

"However, as numerous Republicans in key positions also tested positive, the nature of the speculation began to change. The issue shifted from whether or not the president wore a mask to why so many important Republicans simultaneously got the virus. Among those testing positive were Trump’s campaign manager, the Chair of the Republican National Committee, the President’s senior counselor, and two Senators on the Judiciary Committee who will vote on the confirmation of Amy Coney Barrett.

"Lin Wood, a high-profile lawyer representing Nick Sandman and Kyle Rittenhouse, tweeted, “Many leaders in administration of @realDonaldTrump are quarantined by what almost appears to almost be targeted strike of Covid-19.” He later tweeted, “There are no coincidences. Zero. None. Hard stop.” Deanna Lorraine, who ran for Congress against Nancy Pelosi, also picked up the theme of a “targeted strike” in her tweet, “Does anyone else find it odd that no prominent Democrats have had the virus but the list of Republicans goes on and on?”

Seven months before the train crash, a gunman opened fire on members of the Republican congressional baseball team, severely wounding Steve Scalise, who was then serving as House Majority Whip. NBC reported: “Witnesses told investigators that when the gunman arrived at the ballfield, he asked people, “Are these the Republicans or the Democrats?”

In the almost four years since Trump has become president, Republicans have suffered three potentially mass fatality events. The coming months may finally bring some answers about these incidents. It’s time for the American people to understand what’s happening to them.

Eric Garcetti Flip-Flops on DA; Switches Endorsement to Soros-Backed George Gascon

 Breitbart

"Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti switched his endorsement in the race for Los Angeles County District Attorney from incumbent Jackie Lacey, the first African American to hold the post, to George Soros-backed challenger George Gascon.

"In 2018, as Breitbart News reported at the time, Soros spent heavily on left-wing candidates for district attorney posts around the nation, often backing “progressive” candidates against establishment Democrats. He spent nearly $4 million in total.

"The results are evident in a wave of politicized prosecutions — or, in the case of Chicago’s Jussie Smollett hate crime hoax, non-prosecutions. Soros-backed prosecutors have backed the Black Lives Matter movement, selectively enforcing the law.

"In Los Angeles, the movement targeted Lacey. As Breitbart News noted: “[Protesters] accuse her of being too tough on crime. In March, Black Lives Matter activists marched to Lacey’s door in the wee hours of the morning — and Lacey’s husband confronted them with a gun and told them to leave. He now faces criminal charges in that incident.”

"In August, Gov. Gavin Newsom backed Gascon. As Breitbart News noted:

Gascón is a left-wing prosecutor with a controversial history. He previously served as district attorney in San Francisco, as Politico notes, working with then-Mayor Newsom to roll back policing — but leaving a city synonymous with vagrancy today, and backing Proposition 47, which put more convicted criminals back on the streets:  . . .

BLM and Democrats

DarkAngelPolitics.com.

They’ve largely remained silent on the vile crimes being committed under the banner of “peaceful protests.”  . . . Only now are they beginning to address the chaos as polls have been critical of their hushed tones. However, Harris’ latest comments demonstrate her lack of understanding of the national crisis we’re facing.

“ 'Peaceful protests” against racial injustice are critical for the nation’s progress and help to keep law enforcement in check,” Harris said Friday. "Sadly, her view of “peaceful” is distorted. Death, mayhem, and billions and billions of dollars in property damage are not moving the nation forward." . . .

Tucker Carlson: Kamala Harris Will Bring Black Lives Matter Agenda To The White House
. . . "Now the Democratic Party embraces BLM. Democrats incorporated BLM talking points directly into the Party's platform. You didn’t hear much about that in news coverage of the convention. Just like you probably didn’t hear a lot about Kamala Harris’s speech to the NAACP this Friday. The media didn’t have the time to tell you about it — there were too many of those rioting white supremacists to hunt down. That’s a shame. You should know a lot more about Kamala Harris. Harris is 22 years younger than Joe Biden. If Biden wins, at some point — possibly sooner than we expect — Harris will control the White House. That’s a concern, because few in the Democratic Party have pushed BLM’s message more aggressively than Harris has. . ."

'Unmoved by the violence in our streets and the brutal attacks on our police officers, Kamala Harris says the 'protests' are essential for our 'evolution' as a country,' wrote Arthur Schwarz as he used the senators own words against her.

Democrats, which side do you choose?  BLM Attacks #WalkAway Event in Texas  "Black Lives Matter agitators attacked a #WalkAway Movement Rescue America Rally in Dallas, Texas, on Saturday. Tweeted videos show a man wearing a Black Lives Matter shirt as he allegedly breached backstage security to disrupt the rally. He then appeared to assault a security guard for the #WalkAway Movement.

"A video tweeted by #WalkAway Movement founder Brandon Straka shows a man wearing a Black Lives Matter shirt and a woman wearing a Defund the Police shirt allegedly assaulting a security guard at the Rescue America Rally. As the security guard attempts to detain his alleged attacker, other BLM activists jump in to free the man.

"Straka tweeted, “BLM agitator infiltrated stage area of today’s rally then put his fist into security’s neck when being removed. @DallasPD ARRESTED THE SECURITY AGENT!!' ”

Biden Sock Puppet Chris Wallace Pulls A Candy Crowley

Daniel John Sobieski

"Perhaps the people at Fox News as it veers further to port need to have their cognitive abilities tested, not Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden, whom they increasingly shill for, judging by the performance of debate moderator and Fox News Sunday host Chris Wallace. The conventional wisdom is that Wallace lost control of the debate but a closer look shows he knew exactly what he was doing, that he was on a mission to be 2020’s, Candy Crowley.

"During the 2012 presidential debate between Willard Mitt Romney and Barack Hussein Obama, CNN’s Candy Crowley corrected GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney at a key moment, falsely claiming President Obama called Benghazi a terrorist attack the very next day. CBS knew President Obama was lying and had a tape to prove it.

"As part of a “60 Minutes” interview taped on September 12, the day after the terrorist attack by the al-Qaida-linked group Ansar al-Sharia, and moments after the President and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton had appeared in the Rose Garden, CBS correspondent Steve Kroft asked a very direct question: “Mr. President, this morning you went out of your way to avoid the use of the word terrorism in connection with the Libya attack, do you believe that this was a terrorism attack?”

"It was the perfect time for the President to say his oblique reference to “acts of terror” did in fact include Benghazi and insist Kroft’s question was based on a false premise. He did not because he could not. Instead, he said that “it’s too early to tell exactly how this came about, what group was involved,” as his administration was already pushing the lie that it was a spontaneous mob action caused by an obscure Internet video insulting to Islam.

"When Kroft responded that there were “reports that they were very heavily armed with grenades, that doesn’t sound like your normal demonstration,” President Obama meekly responded that “…we’re still investigating exactly what happened, I don’t want to jump the gun on this.' ” . . .

"This critical part of the interview proving that Obama did not label Benghazi a terrorist attack despite clear evidence it was was incredibly and, I believe, deliberately left on the cutting room floor because it likely would have doomed President Obama’s reelection chances on the spot. CBS stood silent during and after Crowley’s own journalist malfeasance and knew the truth when its own Bob Schieffer conducted the third and final presidential debate without mentioning it." . . .

VIDEO: Students can't answer basic questions about the Holocaust

Campus Reform  "Campus Reform recently asked students basic questions about the Holocaust.  A recent survey found that the GenZ and Millennial generation had a shockingly low level of knowledge about the Holocaust."

“I honestly don’t know,” one student said when Campus Reform asked how many people were murdered in the Holocaust.
“I’m just honestly frustrated because you know it’s just like a basic thing you should know, 'cause it was a genocide” added another student who was responding to the recent survey that found young adults were unaware of the Holocaust.
" Students overwhelmingly agreed that the Holocaust should be taught in schools and most of them remember learning about it at some point.
“ 'I wouldn’t be surprised because there are many people who still think it is a hoax,” said one student when told that 90 percent of survey respondents said they believed that the Holocaust happened, seven percent were not sure, and 3 percent denied that it happened."

Op-Ed: President Trump Must Start Condemning White Supremacy Every Day, Just So We Can Be Extra Sure

RedState  "It’s been a rather tumultuous couple days, hasn’t it? Only days after a raucous presidential debate between Trump and Biden, the American public found out that the president has tested positive for the coronavirus and is now at Walter Reed Hospital. But the current political upheaval has left the nation wondering: Has Trump condemned white supremacy again today?

"Yes, we know that Trump denounced white supremacists on Wednesday, the day after the debate when he made the much-ballyhooed blunder on the question of rejecting white supremacy. Moreover, the president condemned white supremacist groups, and even the Proud Boys, by name. Even more than that, he has also expressed similar sentiments on many occasions before the debate.

"But he didn’t do it on Friday even though he had the perfect opportunity. Even conservative commentator Stephen L. Miller noticed and expressed his outrage on Twitter:" . . .

McEnany Tears Reporter to Shreds for Pushing 'Shameful' Anti-Trump Narrative

. . . "The move appeared to trigger a meltdown in Roberts, however, who demanded a "current" statement from McEnany." . . .

The wife of John Roberts, Kyra Phillips reported Trump did denounce white supremacism:
