Left-Wing Media Have Jumped the Shark

Townhall
It is easier to discover an intelligent statement from Joe Biden than it is to find a real journalist in America today. In the Trump era, American journalism has moved from trying to hide its hardcore left-wing agenda to openly advocating for the Democratic Party.
"For decades, the American news media have been liberal. Studies showed consistent and overwhelming support among the news media for Democratic candidates for president. Even a landslide loser such as 1972 Democratic presidential candidate George McGovern was the runaway favorite among American journalists.
"Previously, the liberal media made a minimal effort to hide their true objectives; however, today, there is no disguising their extreme hatred for President Donald Trump. Their purpose is clear, not to give fair and accurate reporting, but to advocate for the defeat of President Donald Trump and the election of former Vice President Joe Biden.
"At the president’s frequent news conferences, he is subjected to insulting, mean-spirited attacks masquerading as questions. Never has the media treated a president so rudely. Today, the White House press corps are so unhinged they make the rude questioning of Sam Donaldson in the Reagan era look tame in comparison.
"When Barack Obama was president, the media pushed his agenda and asked him obsequious questions such as what “enchanted” him the most about the position. These Democratic Party cheerleaders, poorly imitating reporters, might as well have thrown rose petals at his feet and asked if they could give him a foot rub." . . .

Remember Obama's Hawaii presser when he got this royal CNN treatment?
"After thinking a second – probably wondering how fortunate he is to have such an unapologetic shill in the audience – Obama responded, “That’s a multiple choice question, isn’t it?”

"And this is the type of hard-nosed journalist the supposedly most trusted name in news has as a White House correspondent."
Shill:  1. One who poses as a satisfied customer or an enthusiastic gambler to dupe bystanders into participating in a swindle.2. One who publicly promotes another's cause, especially in an extravagant or misleading way.

Again, why DO you watch CNN?

That channel long ago gave up any aspirations of being a source to be relied on for information. TD

At first unlikeable to me (I still feel Carly Fiorina is owed an apology for Trump's insult to her), this man has proven courageous in standing up for our nation against America's enemies, foreign and right here among us.
Under Democrats, our ships were challenged by several rival countries whose militaries harrassed our ships, flying within feet of them and threatening our to attack.
Obama sent pallets of cash were sent to Iran in payment for hostages they were allowed to take by that same President.

CNN Accuses Trump of Running ‘Propaganda Session’ During White House Briefing
"CNN is always looking to hit new lows."

CNN Insists WH Video Using Media's Own Words Is Chinese 'Propaganda'
"Despite being constant critics of the president, CNN will throw themselves a pity party when they are the ones taking the heat from the White House. That was evident Monday evening into Tuesday morning as just about every CNN host and correspondent raged at President Trump for playing a video during Monday’s coronavirus task force briefing that called out some in the media for downplaying COVID-19.
"CNNers were so upset at the White House pushing back on their narrative that Trump cost American lives by not acting soon enough, that the network cut out of the briefing early to complain." . . .
. . . "Stelter also laughably took issue with Trump focusing on “the past”, seemingly not understanding that this video was a response to the media constantly harping about how Trump allegedly didn’t do enough in the past to respond to the virus.
"Later in the evening, hosts Anderson Cooper and Don Lemon couldn’t stop ranting at Trump’s “propaganda.” Not to be outdone, White House correspondent Jim Acosta amazingly deflected blame from his network shilling for China by saying that the White House video was Chinese propaganda paid by “your tax dollars”:            " . . .

Suppose Trump Had Acted Earlier Against the Wuhan Virus?  . . . "Too bad their energies are always directed against Trump, rather than subjects given only a brief glance, such as Benghazi, Hillary Clinton’s emails, the Steele/Brennan dossier, and real election interference.
"The New York Times, briefly distracted by rewriting their tweets describing Joe Biden being credibly accused of sexual assault, took up the role of drum major in the media’s Get Trump jihad." . . .

In New Book, Jon Karl Admits Press Is Full of Trump Haters, RIPS Acosta as 'Rude' Jerk  . . . "In the introduction on page XXII, Karl, the chief White House correspondent for ABC News slammed the President as a serial liar: “The president is waging a war on truth, helping to convince millions of Americans that real news is fake, that journalists are partisans out to get him.”
"But Karl then concedes:
“But the truth is that the mainstream media coverage of Donald Trump is relentlessly and exhaustively negative. His accomplishments – and there are accomplishments – are either ignored or overshadowed by the drumbeat of outrage fueled by his own outrageous behavior.” . . .
Comedian Argus Hamilton discusses CNN: "A Phoenix grandma visiting the zoo saved a woman from the clutches of a Jaguar with which she’d tried to take a selfie. She hurled a water bottle at the cat and then pulled the woman to safety. The next day, CNN reported that a white woman attacked an African immigrant and stole his lunch."
Never forget this piece of hard-hitting "journalism" from CNN as that channel's, um, employee Dan Lothian spoke truth to power in his Obama interview :

Ex-CNN Contributors: Network 'Openly Despises Conservatives,' Has Become The 'Hate Trump' Network

Daily Wire

"According to several former contributors to the cable news network, CNN has increasingly become the anti-conservative, "hate Trump" network that allows only Republicans critical of the president on their airwaves and has systematically "squeezed out" conservative voices.
. . .
" 'CNN used to pretend it accepted right wing voices for balance, but now it openly despises conservatives who are pro-Trump," Sexton told Mediaite. "Today the entire enterprise clings to a fundamental dishonesty: that it has no political agenda. Taking down Trump is obviously the agenda. And in this regard, some of CNN’s ‘hard news’ anchors are the biggest journalistic frauds of all.' " . . .

One of my all-time favorites of CNN reporting:

2011; CNN Reporter Dan Lothian asks Obama this challenging, insightful question:

CNN cutting staff by as many as 300 jobs

Most likely, few if any prominent on-camera personalities will be taking buyouts or will get pink slips. It will be more anonymous staffers suffering the damage. While CNN has actively driven away its viewers, the network still has continuing revenue from cable and satellite providers that helps cushion the decline in advertising revenue that will inevitably follow its ratings crash.

Thomas Lifson  "Maybe President Trump ought to use the adjective “failing” in front of CNN instead of the New York Times. In point of fact, Trump hatred has been good for the Gray Lady, with digital subscriptions up substantially (over $700 million in revenue last year) as the paper became the premier source of anti-Trump fulminations.
"But with CNN, the story is very different. The network that pioneered cable news long ago lost its dominant position to Fox News, and since Donald Trump became president has bet its future on the Russia Hoax – and lost. Bigtime. FromThe Hill:
CNN's prime-time ratings dropped a whopping 26 percent in April compared to last year, according to Nielsen Media Research.
MSNBC's ratings were down 14 percent in April 2019 compared to April 2018, while Fox News's ratings overall were flat.
The sharp decrease for CNN marked its lowest-rated month in total viewers since October 2015.
"Most humiliatingly, CNN now is a distant third place in the ratings among cable news providers:
In prime time, Fox News finished first with an average of 2.4 million viewers. In April 2018, the network also averaged 2.4 million viewers, according to Nielsen.
MSNBC was second with an average of 1.66 million viewers, down from 1.93 million in April 2018.
CNN was third with 767,000 average primetime viewers, down from 1.04 million in April 2018.
"A plan unveiled yesterday shows that CNN is cutting costs and downsizing its staff. Paula Blyard reports at PJ Media:" . . .
An example of hard-hitting reportage seen at CNN as done by Dan Lothian's penetrating question of Barack Obama as he speaks nonsense to power:

CNN to Obama: Are GOP candidates “uninformed, out of touch, or irresponsible”

Then Mr. Obama gives us his signature, That's not who we are speech.

Chris Wallace Calls Out Shepard Smith For Blaming Trump For Suspicious Devices

Shep, that was so CNN-ish. You must have been channeling Don Lemon, Dan Lothian or Chris Matthews. TD

Weasel Zippers

"Well done, Chris.

"Kudos to Chris Wallace for calling out Shephard Smith for blaming President Trump for the actions of Cesar Sayoc."
"Really bad journalism on the part of Shepard. "

CNN: the most outed name in news

If CNN and Carl Bernstein Are Willing to Lie About the Little Things…
"Why did CNN’s Carl Bernstein destroy his reputation and legacy with the following lie: “Contacted by CNN, one of Cohen’s attorneys, Lanny Davis, declined to comment.” We now know that’s a lie because we now know Davis was indeed a source for Bernstein’s story, a pile of fake news about President Trump knowing in advance about the Trump Tower meeting. But…
"That is not the point anymore.  The point is this…"

CNN’s Media Team Addresses Michael Cohen Story, Omits Key Details
. . . "And in other CNN-Antifa news, Don Lemon claimed Tuesday night that yes, Antifa is violent, but hey, “no organization’s perfect.”
“ 'Listen, no organization’s perfect. There was some violence,” Lemon said in reference to Antifa. “No one condones violence, but there were different reasons for Antifa and for these neo-Nazis to be there. One, racists, fascists, the other group, fighting racist fascists. There is a distinction there.' ”

Is CNN proving President Trump's point?  . . . "Despite this obvious bombshell, CNN continues to stand by its reporting, leading some to question the network’s credibility. For example, Tucker Carlson recently interviewed Glenn Greenwald, founder of The Intercept. According to Greenwald: "They can’t retract the story and they can’t admit they lied… So they are continuing to stick to what everybody knows is a lie, but not many people care because people think -- a lot of people, anyway -- that it was done for the right political agenda.' "  . . .

And never forget this magnificent piece of "journalism" and speaking nonsense to power:
CNN Reporter Asks Obama: Are GOP Candidates "Uninformed, Out Of Touch, Or Irresponsible?"
" 'Last night at the Republican debate, some of the hopefuls, they hope to get your job, they defended the practice of waterboarding which is a practice you banned in 2009. Herman Cain said, quote, 'I don't see that as torture.' Michele Bachmann said that it's, quote, 'very effective.' So I'm wondering if you think that they're uninformed, out of touch, or irresponsible?" CNN's White House correspondent Dan Lothian asked President Obama in Hawaii."

Brooke Baldwin brings a sliver of light into the darkness that is the leftist media

This places her head, shoulders and full height above these CNN embarrassments:

"So I'm wondering if you think that they're uninformed, out of touch, or irresponsible?" CNN's White House correspondent Dan Lothian asked President Obama in Hawaii."

CNN’s Don Lemon: ‘Is It Preposterous’ to Think a Black Hole Caused Flight 370 to Go Missing?  "CNN’s Don Lemon has been entertaining all sorts of theories about the missing Malaysian Airlines Flight 370, including the chance something “supernatural” happened, but on Wednesday night, he actually asked panelists about the possibility a black hole was involved.
"Lemon brought this up along with other “conspiracy theories” people have been floating on Twitter, including people noting the eerie parallels to Lost and The Twilight Zone, and wondered, “is it preposterous” to consider a black hole as a possibility?" . . .

Thank you, Brooke Baldwin for this small ray of light in the darkness that is today's media.

CNN...again

CNN Tries To Provoke Waffle House Hero Into Saying Something Against Trump  "This is CNN. James Shaw refuses to be drawn by Van Jones. He’s a class act. He’s also raised over $150,000 for the victims of the shooting."

2020: Don Lemon Reveals CNN Will Limit Airing Trump Rallies ‘In Real Time’

CNN anchor Don Lemon revealed that his network will limit the amount of time it devotes to airing President Donald Trump’s 2020 rallies unfiltered.
“There will be no rallies that run in real time,” Lemon said at a Variety event on Friday. “There will not be so much space for candidates to let them ramble on. The American people will demand that. We will expect more truth from our candidates.”
According to Variety, Lemon referenced “CNN’s decision to carry live coverage of Trump rallies without much commentary as something that won’t be repeated.”
During the 2016 campaign, Trump used his rallies to give his perspective on issues like illegal immigration and trade that went counter to the legacy media’s preferred narrative. He even highlighted “Angel Moms” and people of color whose families were victimized by illegal immigrant crime—like Jamiel Shaw Sr.—that the legacy media had conveniently chosen to ignore.
The legacy media aired many of Trump’s rallies unfiltered because they never thought he could actually win the presidency. But the joke eventually ended up being on them, and now the legacy media seem intent on not making the same “mistakes.”
Remember this piece of insightful, penetrating journalism? CNN speaking sycophantically to power.  From 2011;
Here is a marvel of CNN's journalistic softballism in this Dan Lothian question to Obama. You can hear someone in the press gaggle loudly enjoying Obama's reply: TD

. . . "After Ryan asked a combative question during Thursday’s press briefing, accusing her of being "blindsided" by comments Rudy Giuliani recently made on Fox News, Sanders told Ryan, “Well, with all due respect, you actually don’t know much about me in terms of what I feel and what I don't.' ”
. . .
“ 'For Sarah Huckabee Sanders, the presidential spokesperson, the mouthpiece for the President of the United States, to say, ‘You don’t know me,’ in certain quarters in this nation, that starts a physical fight,” Ryan said. “I was very shocked. It was street. I will even go beyond that, it was gutter.' ”
. . .
"The United States Secret Service directed Fox News to CNN and the White House when asked if they consider the latest comments a threat. CNN did not respond to request for comment."

CNN mocked for glorifying JFKs ‘legendary’ infidelity after harping on sex allegations against Trump

The Not-CNN News via Drudge.

"CNN was slammed for hypocrisy over the weekend when the network glorified President John F. Kennedy’s many infidelities after spending significant coverage painting President Trump as a monster for an alleged affair that occurred prior to his political career.

"While promoting “The Kennedys,” CNN hailed the 35th president's “legendary love life,” before asking, “Did one of his affairs connect him with the mob?” The tweet featured video detailing JFK’s relationship with actress Judy Campbell, who was allegedly intimate with the head of the Chicago mafia while also having an affair with the president.

“ 'Hypocrisy at its finest,” one user responded.

"Author Joshua Kendall responded that “legendary love life” is a poor choice of words because it makes JFK’s infidelity sound “glamorous” and attached a link to a recent Los Angeles Times op-ed headlined, “JFK may have been a worse philanderer than Trump. Does it matter?”

"Daily Caller media reporter Amber Athey quoted CNN’s promotional tweet and wrote, “That’s certainly an interesting way to describe having numerous affairs while president. I think we need to get Anderson Cooper on this to find out if JFK was wearing a condom.”

"After seeing the promo, pundit Stephen Miller sarcastically channeled his inner CNN and asked, “Why does no one take us seriously when we constantly talk about Trump’s behavior with women?”

"Cooper, who is CNN's biggest star, had sat down with both Playboy playmate Karen McDougal and porn actress Stormy Daniels in recent days to ask detailed questions about their alleged affairs with Trump. CNN has spent significant time analyzing all aspects of the alleged affairs including questions about intimate details." . . .

Here is a marvel of CNN's journalistic softballism in this Dan Lothian question to Obama. You can hear someone in the press gaggle loudly enjoying Obama's reply:

CNN is the world’s foremost news gathering network and it is watched daily in millions of homes, offices, schools and government agencies around the globe. CNN Newsource is the nation’s premier news service, licensed to local news providers throughout the world, so they might utilize news material gathered by CNN to enhance their own newscasts.

CNN’s absurd reaction to Andrew McCabe's firing. But consistent with the character of this source

Patricia McCarthy  "Channel surfing after the announcement that AG Sessions had indeed fired Andrew McCabe was like being yanked into the Twilight Zone.  On Fox, Laura Ingraham addressed the firing calmly from all sides along with her guests Sara Carter, Alan Dershowitz, Harmeet Dhillon and Jonathan Turley.
Switch to CNN and one would be told that it was Trump who did the firing, that Sessions did it to keep his job.  Barely mentioned was the fact that the recommendation to fire McCabe came from the FBI's own Office of Personal Responsibility (OPR), an almost unprecedented event.  Don Lemon and his guests were apoplectic that this "fine and respected" man has had his pension taken away.  They were not concerned at all about what he may have done to elicit the OPR's recommendation that he be fired.  Not one bit.
"This bunch takes as factual that Trump is evil and that he colluded with Russia, even though they know very well that he did not.  They know that the whole "Trump colluded with Russia" theory was dreamed up by the Clintons to excuse and explain her loss to the man her crowd and the media thought had no chance of victory.  But they still think the American people are so dumb that we don't know what they know.  They still think they can sell their anti-Trump hatred with lies and snake oil.  And Friday night, CNN was simply outraged that an object of Trump's well-deserved wrath was fired.
"But to CNN the Stormy Daniels story is even more important than McCabe's firing." . . .
Pretty consistent with CNN's idea of "journalism":

Trump Renews Feud With CNN. Petulant? That's my word for Barack Obama

But please, please stop the tweeting! Now Trump has lost RedState, no fan of the Democrats.

Red State  "President Trump renewed his feud with CNN on Saturday, taking a swipe at the network that has kept him pressed to the wall for the past year.

"Trump fed his daily red meat to his famished base on Twitter:

.@FoxNews is MUCH more important in the United States than CNN, but outside of the U.S., CNN International is still a major source of (Fake) news, and they represent our Nation to the WORLD very poorly. The outside world does not see the truth from them!
"That he’s singing the praises of Fox News is no surprise. Trump is the most petulant, petty, and vindictive president in modern history. He has done the Herculean task of making a corrupt Obama look mature, by comparison. He is an embarrassment of immeasurable proportions.

"Fox News gets a pass because the majority of the on-air talent for the network grovel and snivel at Trump’s feet, tossing softball interviews and cooing with doe eyes over anything he says, no matter how bizarre and unhinged.

"So what’s the latest beef to get Trump’s Depends in a knot?
The tweet comes amid tensions over a potential merger between AT&T and Time Warner. The Justice Department allegedly told AT&T to sell off either CNN’s parent company or DirecTV as a condition of approving the merger. The department formally sued AT&T to block the $85 billion merger on Monday, arguing that it would hurt competition and consumers. AT&T has denied it has offered to sell the cable network, or that it would in the future. The Justice Department move has drawn criticism from observers who note that Trump is often critical of CNN.
. . .
Do not admire CNN, however. Never forget this penetrating question asked of Obama by CNN's Dan Lothian:

WATCH: 17 Times CNN Propagandists Denied Their Leftist Biases

WOW

"They are not journalists nor do the propagandists at CNN deserve to be referred to as such and stupid American voters are their enablers.
"Caught with their pants down and staging news, yet CNN continues to deny that it is biased."

WATCH: 17 Times CNN Personalities Denied Their Leftist Biases

I myself watched this memorable moment of journalistic integrity from Dan Lothian of CNN:

"After thinking a second – probably wondering how fortunate he is to have such an unapologetic shill in the audience – Obama responded, “That’s a multiple choice question, isn’t it?”
"And this is the type of hard-nosed journalist the supposedly most trusted name in news has as a White House correspondent."

CNN: guardians of our freedom

CNN: The Corleone Network
When CNN reports on the collusion scandal, it focuses on the Trump campaign, Vladimir Putin, and maybe once in a blue moon, Hillary Clinton.  But it chooses not to report on the entity that truly colluded in the Russia claims: the media.
CNN was better when it was boring  "A couple of years ago, you could have described the three cable news channels this way. FOX was dynamic, MSNBC was unwatchable and CNN was boring.
"Well, CNN is now worse than boring. They are just plain silly and self absorbed, as Roger Kimball wrote:
A couple of weeks ago in this space, I speculated that CNN, the Crackpot News Network, had reached the terminal stage of malevolent implausibility.
“[I]t would be a good thing,” I wrote, “were CNN humiliated and sued out of existence. It performs no journalistic function, merely a destructively partisan one.”
As usual, I was too kind. CNN will not have to be sued out of existence, as Gawker Media, another disgusting purveyor of malicious gossip and fake news, was a year or so back.
No, CNN seems to be performing a species of hara-kiri or seppuku in public.
"Yes, they are self-destructing indeed, no matter how much they try to put on a happy face.
"Jeff Zucker, President of CNN, is now complaining that President Trump istrying to intimidate his network. Really Jeff? Are you that soft? What if President Trump had said that CNN is trying to intimidate him? Wouldn't CNN mock that?
"On a more serious note, "the bean counters" may soon be asking Mr. Zucker for a meeting to discuss ratings. CNN continues to be #3 and way behind #2. In fact, CNN Can’t Crack Top 10 In Cable News Ratings!
"All of this begs a question: What if CNN had responded to Mr. Trump's wrestling video with their own wrestling video? What if they had responded with humor rather than this self-righteous crap that President Trump is threatening journalism? "  (It does not "beg the question; it prompts the question! TD)
Who can ever forget this jewel from CNN's Dan Lothian?
