Woe to Our Allies; America’s new policy of retreat is leaving our friends exposed.

Charles Krauthammer  "Three crises, one president, many bewildered friends.

"The first crisis, barely noticed here, is Ukraine’s sudden turn away from Europe and back to the Russian embrace.
....
The second crisis is the Middle East — the collapse of confidence of U.S. allies as America romances Iran."
....
"The third crisis is unfolding over the East China Sea, where, in open challenge to Obama’s “pivot to Asia,” China has brazenly declared a huge expansion of its airspace into waters claimed by Japan and South Korea."

Read the details on each crisis to see what a foreign policy mess the next administration will inherit from this circus that occupies the halls of American "power".

Obamacare; your government at work

"Judy Smith, the legendary Washington, D.C. crisis communications expert and inspiration for the hit show Scandal, said she has not seen a disaster like Obamacare in quite some time and that President Barack Obama has lost the trust of the American people with the law's botched rollout."

Obamacare and Its Cronies "In the words of former Senate majority leader Tom Daschle, insurance companies are “not necessarily unbiased. They have a lot of skin in the game.” Indeed, one of the more peculiar aspects of the Obamacare debate has been the mainstream media’s apparent bemusement at the insurance industry’s support for a law that not only forces people to buy its products (which are necessarily more expensive under the law) but also offers direct taxpayer subsidies to help cover the cost, to the tune of nearly $500 billion over the next ten years."

ABC News And The White House Observe Mandela’s Death With Pictures of Obama

American Glob "Before liberal readers get upset, let me just say that I’m not trying to take anything away from the passing of Nelson Mandela. He was a great man who meant a lot to people all over the world.
"However, the Cult of Obama never sleeps and I’m sad to say I knew this was coming the minute I heard Mandela died.
"Here’s how the White House chose to observe Mandela’s passing. In a word?

"Tacky."

The Obama-media love affair

Date Night: Chris Matthews Tosses Softballs to Obama    "With President Obama’s approval ratings sinking thanks to the failing Obamacare rollout and the unpopular nuclear deal with Iran, Obama broke the media emergency glass to access the MSNBC host Chris Matthews. Matthews, who has compared Obama to Jesus and Henry V, and said that he was “the perfect American,” tossed Obama softball after softball, to which Obama gave stock answer after stock answer."

Chris Matthews to Obama: 'Everyone Knows' Republicans Want to Stop Minorities From Voting   "Talking to the President at American University, Matthews read a question from a viewer via Twitter: "What can we do to stop the GOP, the Republicans, from rigging the states, rigging the votes, state by state, to disenfranchise voters and destroy our democracy?' "

Carney blames Bush again   ... the result of, in part, some truly poor policy decisions that had been made in the previous administration,” he said.

Chris Matthews on his Obama interview: “He came to us. He came amongst us.”   "And, lo, the president came upon them, and the glory of the president shone round about them: and they were sore afraid."

Some thoughts on the celebrity of Sarah Silverman.

Kevin D. Williamson
"Silverman is a model American of the age, whose craft consists of taking a very old tradition, Jewish ethnic humor, and making it embarrassing. Barack Obama is a fan — it is not mere cultural accident that their careers are contemporaneous — while semi-serious intellectual salons host her, to their occasional regret. This is an age of infantile politics, the motto of which is: “I want!” It is only natural that this would be matched by an equally infantile popular culture — it is the infantile culture that brings about the infantile politics, not the other way around — and that one of the more significant evangelists for Barack Obama and Obamaism would be a woman who starred in a faux French New Wave film called Féte des Pets (Fart Party) and published Eat, Pray, Fart: Life Lessons from the Sarah Silverman Program."
....
"... Sarah Silverman, whose politics are as crass as her sense of humor, is a perfect cultural fit for the Age of Obama."

Liberals Talk Race and Crime - And Hilarity Ensues!

Ann Coulter

"On a break from pretending to believe they live in a country bristling with violent white racists, the Non-Fox Media have been trying to debunk stories about the "Knockout Game," in which young black males approach random strangers and try to knock them out with one punch.

"The left's leading line of defense against the Knockout Game is to argue that young black males have always been violent, so, hey, this is nothing new.

"You're welcome, black America!" ....

Martin Bashir Resigns From MSNBC Over Palin Comments

American Glob

"Let’s hope this sends a message to other leftists in media who are way too comfortable saying hateful and violent things about (conservative) women."

Liberal Cartoonist: If Hillary Is Nominee in 2016 ‘Sexism Will Be The New Racism’

Newsbusters  ... "Indeed it is, but Rall's right.
Just as anyone that criticized Obama the past six-plus years was accused of racism, in the coming years, anyone that criticizes Hillary if she runs will be depicted as sexist.
"The so-called "Republican War on Women" will be dusted off again, and every utterance by an opponent or commentator that isn't flattering will be due to Clinton's lack of a Y-chromosome and not because of her views.
"So we got that going for us."

The lawlessness of President Obama

Charles Krauthammer: An outbreak of lawlessness  "The violence to political norms here consisted in how that change was executed. By brute force — a near party-line vote of 52 to 48 . This was a disgraceful violation of more than two centuries of precedent. If a bare majority can change the fundamental rules that govern an institution, then there are no rules. Senate rules today are whatever the majority decides they are that morning."

This is one more big step toward the US being a third-world nation. The stuff that banana republics are made of.

...."As of today, the Senate effectively has no rules. Congratulations, Harry Reid. Finally, something you will be remembered for."
....
"A Senate with no rules. A president without boundaries. One day, when a few bottled-up judicial nominees and a malfunctioning health-care Web site are barely a memory, we will still be dealing with the toxic residue of this outbreak of authoritative lawlessness."
Even more on Obama lawlessness   ... "Professor Jonathan Turley, George Washington University Law Center (h/t Hot Air), testimony before Congress:
People of good faith can clearly disagree on where the line is drawn over the failure to fully enforce federal laws. There is ample room given to a president in setting priorities in the enforcement of laws. A president is not required to enforce all laws equally or dedicate the same resources to every federal program. Even with this ample allowance, however, I believe that President Barack Obama has crossed the constitutional line between discretionary enforcement and defiance of federal law.
Barack Obama: Above the Law or Just Lawless?   "To date, Barack Obama’s presidency has been characterized by many things, not the least of which has been a display of arrogance usually reserved for full-blown dictators like Hugo Chavez or crazies like Al Gore. And his personal haughtiness has been more than matched by members of his administration who have followed their fearless leader lockstep down a path of government expansion and economic implosion."

America’s Coastal Royalty; The real national divide isn’t between red and blue states.

Victor Davis Hanson  "The densely populated coastal corridors from Boston to Washington and from San Diego to Berkeley are where most of America’s big decisions are made.
"They remind us of two quite different Americas: one country along these coasts and everything else in between. Those in Boston, New York, and Washington determine how our government works; what sort of news, books, art, and fashion we should consume; and whether our money and investments are worth anything.
"The Pacific corridor is just as influential, but in a hipper, cooler fashion. Whether America suffers through another zombie film or one more Lady Gaga video or Kanye West’s latest soft-porn rhyme is determined by Hollywood — mostly by executives who live in the la-la land of the thin Pacific strip from Malibu to Palos Verdes."
....
"In California, whether farms receive contracted irrigation water, whether a billion board feet of burned timber will be salvaged from the recent Sierra Nevada forest fires, whether a high-speed-rail project obliterates thousands of acres of ancestral farms, whether gas will be fracked, or whether granite should be mined to make tony kitchen counters is all determined largely by coastal elites who take these plentiful resources for granted. Rarely, however, do they see how their own necessities are procured. Instead, they feel deeply ambivalent about the grubbier people and culture that made them."

What Will Happen When (and If) HealthCare.gov Actually Works

Heritage   "The disaster has spawned countless news stories and updates about the website’s progress. But here’s the most important story: HealthCare.gov can’t fix anything that’s wrong with Obamacare.
"Even if it worked perfectly from Day 1, that would do Americans little good. A slick, smoothly functioning website couldn’t undo all the damage Obamacare has done and is doing.
"Here are just six of the things HealthCare.gov couldn’t begin to fix."
...

"Fixing the problems facing the U.S. health care system requires an alternative to Obamacare. Learn more about our ideas to take health care out of the government’s hands and put it back in yours."

The Return of the Queue/ It’s been the death knell of every progressive effort.

Charles C. W. Cooke    ... " If he has the time and the stomach, the president could do worse than to read the story of the 1979 British general election. The Right’s post-rationalizations notwithstanding, Mrs. Thatcher’s ascent was not primarily a sign that the British had been magically converted to the charms of privatization, free markets, tax cuts, and a strong defense, but that they were sick and tired of what socialism had done to their country and that they were reluctantly prepared to give the other side a shot. To her immense credit, Thatcher recognized this, and she made sure that her branding focused more on dissatisfaction with the status quo than on her own ideology. The Conservative party’s election-season message was pitch-perfect for the moment: Showing a snaking line of people outside an unemployment office, giant posters across the country featured three simple words: “Labour Isn’t Working.' ”

Obamacare’s Lessons in Government Failure    "We conservatives are always on about the “unintended consequences” of government programs, but we didn’t expect the Obama administration and congressional Democrats to provide such a vivid object lesson.
