The world as it is when the US gives up all her authority and responsibility

Republicans on Capitol Hill went on TV Tuesday and called Vladimir Putin's expansion policy something no one's seen since Adolf Hitler. For goodness sake, they know he is nothing like Hitler. He only annexed the Crimea, it's not like he made us buy health insurance. Argus Hamilton
WHAT'S NEEDED IS NOT A SPECIFIC MOVE ON THE CHESSBOARD, BUT A DIFFERENT PLAYER    "... what he is doing as President of the United States – hollowing out the armed forces, cashiering our most experienced and successful combat commanders, kowtowing to Iran, Russia, China, and Al Qaeda, crippling the American economy – is actually rather bold."
Pictured: the President and some of his voters:

WaPo: Obama doesn’t grasp Putin’s Eurasian ambitions   "It’s necessary, however, to take some of what Mr. Putin said seriously, because of the implicit threat it poses to European and global security. Mr. Putin advanced a radical and dangerous argument: that the collapse of the Soviet Union left “the Russian nation” as “one of the biggest, if not the biggest ethnic group in the world to be divided by borders.” That, he suggested, gave Moscow the right to intervene in Crimea, and, by extension, anywhere it considers ethnic Russians or their culture to be threatened."

We cannot let the trite comparisons with Germany of the 1930-40s inhibit us from making use of the wisdom and experience learned the hard way from the actions of dictators bent on conquest and the appeasement by free nations intimidated by their left at home.
Hitler's excuse for invading the following countries was based on protecting ethnic Germans living there: Austria, Czechoslovakia, the Sudetenland, western Poland; all to restore a "Greater Germany", having these absorbed Germans within it. The rest of Hitler's conquests were to give these Germans more room to live and farm.
Then, as now, any effort by free nations to resist the conquerors was met by cries of "warmonger!" promulgated by the left (the Pete Seegers and the Bruce Springsteens of that day) and led by communists. The Tunnel Dweller

If the U.S. doesn't lead, the strongmen win. For them it's easier.    "This moment is not about Barack Obama. By now we know about him. This is about Vladimir Putin and the self-delusions of Western nations and their famous "fatigue." Vladimir Putin is teaching the West and especially the United States that fatigue is not an option."  Daniel Henninger, WSJ

Romney: The Price of Failed Leadership

"The President's failure to act when action was possible has diminished respect for the U.S. and made troubles worse."
With actions like the Eastern Europe defense systems he cancelled and the apology video to Iran back in 2009, Mr. Obama looks to me like the kid who hands his lunch money to the school bully as soon as he gets to school.
Political Cartoons by Michael Ramirez
Mitt Romney in the Wall Street Journal    ..."President Obama and Secretary of State Clinton traveled the world in pursuit of their promise to reset relations and to build friendships across the globe. Their failure has been painfully evident: It is hard to name even a single country that has more respect and admiration for America today than when President Obama took office, and now Russia is in Ukraine. Part of their failure, I submit, is due to their failure to act when action was possible, and needed.

"A chastened president and Secretary of State Kerry, a year into his job, can yet succeed, and for the country's sake, must succeed. Timing is of the essence."

"In response to Crimea's fixed and illegal "election" (in which there were more pro-Russian votes than actual voters) and Vladimir Putin's subsequent declaration that Crimea is now an independent state, a furious Barack Obama unleashed "the most comprehensive set of sanctions since the Cold War" against Russia.

"And Russia is laughing its ass off.

"Obama's sanctions single out only a handful of individuals, several of whom took to Twitter to openly mock Mr. Obama as an ineffectual jackass. The president's actions were, in the always succinct and wonderful words of Charles Krauthammer, "preposterous" and "a humiliating response."

"But this is nothing new, as Mitt "Why The Hell Didn't We Elect Him?" Romney points out in a scathing Wall Street Journal article, noting that Barry's inaction and inattention to world matters has devastatingly screwed things up in North Korea, Iran, Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, Libya, Ukraine, and Russia. Although, on the plus side, our relations with Mexico will remain good as long as we leave our borders open and keep giving guns to their drug cartels.

"Sadly, for international friends and foes, real presidential leadership from the United States has simply disappeared from the world's radar."

Handing Over the Keys to the Internet

"It’s nuts to cede control of the Internet to countries with poor records on free speech."

.... "Consider how different the story might have been had the system’s guts been controlled by someone else — even by a relatively free country such as Britain or Canada, where the government is benign but speech is curtailed by law. Is it not possible that the temptation to bring the Web into line with “reasonable” limits on expression would have been too much to resist? Can one not imagine a pressure for “common sense” reform building from inside and outside — and leading to censorship of language that gave offense to, say, gays, or Muslims, or police horses? If so, imagine what less amiable nations might seek to impose. The reality of today’s “global governance” is that it will not be Britain or Canada champing at the bit, but Russia and China and, through the pernicious United Nations, global Islam, which has already managed to secure various Human Rights Council resolutions that prohibit criticism of religion. Ready?"

Is this another case of Obama's guilt over America being America?

Remembering our heroes: Mize and Guarnere

“A nation reveals itself not only by the the men it produces, but also by the men it honors, the men it remembers…”
- President John F. Kennedy
"Last week, America lost two outstanding warriors. Ola L. Mize, veteran of the Korean and Vietnam Wars and Medal of Honor recipient, and William J. Guarnere, from the legendary “Band of Brothers” unit of World War II."

... "On June 10, 1953, a battalion-sized force of Chinese troops attacked and overran Mize’s outpost. With his company officers dead or wounded, Mize organized a defense, dragged wounded to safety, and formed a patrol to fight the Chinese bunker to bunker – despite having been hit by grenade and artillery blasts multiple times. Fighting for hours – hand-to-hand at times – Mize killed several dozen enemy soldiers with his carbine and many more by calling in American artillery fire. His full citation can be read here."

" 'Wild Bill" Guarnere’s oldest brother Harry was killed fighting the Germans at Monte Cassino, Italy, and William couldn’t wait to kill every German he could. His fierce fighting earned him the nickname “Wild Bill.” Guarnere parachuted into France prior to the D-Day invasion, and was platoon sergeant during a June 6 assault on German artillery at Brecourt Manor (featured on DVD) “Band of Brothers” miniseries, for which he earned the Silver Star."   Via Blackfive

Israel's Defense Chief: Israel Stands Alone Against Iran Nukes

Breitbart London   ... "If Israel had ever expected the United States to take out Iran’s nuclear weapons capability, that is not about to happen, Ya’alon said: “Therefore, on this matter, we have to behave as though we have nobody to look out for us but ourselves.”

"Ya’alon issued a sharp critique of Washington’s attitude toward Iran, suggesting President Barack Obama would prefer to delay any confrontation until it could be passed on to his successor. “People know that Iran cheats,” Ya’alon said. “But comfortable Westerners prefer to put off confrontation – if possible, to next year, or the next president. But in the end, it will blow up.”
....
"I was in Singapore and heard disappointment about China getting stronger and the U.S. getting weaker. Look what’s happening in Ukraine, where the United States is demonstrating weakness, unfortunately.' ”

Enemies laugh at this president; American institutions fear him

Israel's defense chief says U.S. projecting weakness  "His latest comments, confirmed by an Israeli official who was present at lecture Yaalon delivered at Tel Aviv University on Monday, displayed deep disappointment with U.S. President Barack Obama's handling of burning world issues.

" 'We had thought it would be the United States that would lead the campaign against Iran," said Yaalon, who pointed to the Ukraine crisis as an example of Washington "showing weakness"."
Meanwhile, here in the US:
Obama as Imperial President    "Senator Lee cannot understand how the Democrats, during the State of Union Address, gave the President a standing ovation when he said he would bypass Congress to implement his policies. “If a Republican president said and did what President Obama has done I would be up in arms.  I think most, if not all, Republicans in the Senate would call that president on it.  I am stunned that not a single Democrat has come out publicly in opposition to what is happening.  Although, I must say some have told me privately they think I am correct in calling this president out for the sake of the Constitution.' ”

So Obama does to US citizens and institutions what Putin did to Ukraine and Georgia.

A New Obama Doctrine?

"With his presidency in a tailspin, Carter radically changed course. Will Obama do the same?"

Victor Davis Hanson  "Carter was dazed. He had come as a Light into the world to save it, and now the world had rejected him. Why was his magnanimity sneered at as weakness rather than appreciated and reciprocated with good will? Did these ungrateful countries not realize that they were only making American realpolitikers and reactionaries look good — and thus undermining a rare American internationalist who was more a citizen of the world?
"Soon, a few of those around Carter became quite concerned that the old world order, at least as they had known it since the end of World War II, was unraveling. This was not good for Democratic chances in the upcoming 1980 elections.
"Then all of a sudden Carter flipped. By January 1980 there was a new Carter Doctrine, warning the Soviet Union that the Persian Gulf would be protected by force if necessary. Saudi Arabia may have been a misogynist, fundamentalist, and autocratic monarchy, but human-rights advocate Jimmy Carter declared it was central to Western interests and vowed to protect the Saudi royals." ...

Krauthammer’s Take: Obama Is Being ‘Ridiculed by Russians’

"President Obama has thus far responded tepidly to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, targeting only several individuals in Russia for sanctions and providing Ukraine with rations as opposed to the arms it requested. Because of Obama’s rhetoric and policy, Charles Krauthammer said the president is being “ridiculed by Russians.”

“ 'If he thinks that sanctioning seven Russians out of a population of, what, 150 million is a sanction, he’s living in a different world,” Krauthammer said. Instead we should be sending Ukraine weapons, something the administration denied because it thinks “somehow to arm the victim of aggression is a provocation,” Krauthammer explained.

"The idea that such small, targeted sanctions will work is “preposterous,” Krauthammer said. “This really is a humiliating response by a president who can’t even get the Europeans to join him in effective sanctions.' ”

Drudge: Russian Deputy PM Laughs at Obama’s Sanctions   "MOSCOW – Russia’s deputy prime minister laughed off President Obama’s sanction against him today  asking “Comrade @BarackObama” if “some prankster” came up with the list."

Putin does have a sense of humor:  Exclusive: Russia Will Sanction U.S. Senators   "Putin is set to respond to Obama's sanctions of Russian officials with his own list. Several U.S. Senators and officials will be banned from visiting Russia, including Sen. Dick Durbin."

An Illinois doctor diagnoses ObamaCare in one amazing sentence

Investors.com   ... "It's by Dr. Barbara Bellar, a motor-scooter-riding animal lover, Army veteran and Republican attorney who's taking on a massive challenge of the Chicago political machine for a state Senate seat to combat the fiscal insanity in Barack Obama's adopted home state, which isn't an easy job, as you might imagine, so she made this hilarious homemade video that captures the colossal stupidity of ObamaCare in one (very long) sentence, like this one." ...
