The Swamp Fights Back

Victor Davis Hanson

"Never before in the history of the presidency had a commander-in-chief earned the antipathy of so many -- and lived to tell the tale."

FBI Deputy Assistant Director Peter Strzok prior to testifying on Capitol Hill

"Editor’s Note: The following excerpt is adapted from Victor Davis Hanson’s new book, The Case for Trump. It appears here with permission."
"Trump was warned by friends, enemies, and neutrals that his fight against the deep state was suicidal. Senate minority leader Chuck Schumer, just a few days before Trump’s inauguration, cheerfully forecast (in a precursor to Samantha Power’s later admonition) what might happen to Trump once he attacked the intelligence services: “Let me tell you: You take on the intelligence community — they have six ways from Sunday at getting back at you.”

"Former administrative-state careerists were not shy about warning Trump of what was ahead. The counterterrorism analyst Phil Mudd, who had worked in the CIA and the FBI under Robert Mueller, warned CNN host Jake Tapper in August 2017 that “the government is going to kill” President Donald Trump. Kill? And what was the reason the melodramatic Mudd adduced for his astounding prediction? “Because he doesn’t support them.” Mudd then elaborated: “Let me give you one bottom line as a former government official. The government is going to kill this guy. The government is going to kill this guy because he doesn’t support them.” Mudd further clarified his assassination metaphor: “What I’m saying is government — people talk about the deep state — when you disrespect government officials who’ve done 30 years, they’re going to say, ‘Really?’”

"It was difficult to ascertain to what degree Mudd was serious or exaggerating the depth of deep-state loathing of Trump.

"A writer for the London Review of Books, Adam Schatz, seemed even more direct. He reported a supposed conversation that he had with an American political scientist knowledgeable of the Washington permanent caste. He purportedly had assured Schatz that if Trump were elected, he would likely not survive his full term: “He will have to be removed from power by the deep state, or be assassinated.' ” . . .

California Grandfather is Told That He’s Dying By ‘Robot’ Doctor

The Gateway   "The family of a California man is outraged after a hospital used a robotic “doctor” to break the news to their elderly loved one that he is dying from chronic lung disease.

"The incident took place on March 3, when a nurse wheeled in a machine with a screen showing a doctor into 78-year-old Ernest Quintana’s hospital room at Kaiser Permanente Medical Center emergency department in Fremont, California.

“The nurse came around and said the doctor was going to make rounds and I thought ‘OK, no big deal; I’m here,” his granddaughter Annalisia Wilharm told USA Today." . . .

Ocasio-Cortez at South by Southwest Conference: Blasts America as 'garbage' and FDR, Reagan as racist

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is the perfect manifestation of what the public school system in America has accomplished in the past 40 years. Namely, the failure to teach students how to think critically. This was a deliberate omission made by liberal educators who knew the only way they could impart their vision of America and American history is if they were able to prevent even simple questions from being asked.

Rick Moran  . . . Don't abolish capitalism but we have to abolish capitalism. There is no logic or reason to what she says. She doesn't realize that putting "society first" means that someone, somehow, somewhere is going to have to determine what, in society, should be "first." Who sets priorities? Who will determine what's best for everyone? What if a lot of people disagree?

"AOC cannot imagine anyone disagreeing with her social justice agenda. It is so self-evidently "good" and "compassionate" and "just" that anyone who disagrees is a racist pig who needs to be reeducated.

"She reminds me of the Valley girls from the 1980's - empty headed, moronic, contradictory.
"I know that many readers are sick of reading about Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. But the reason we cover her is simple; she should be seen as the most dangerous politician in America, someone who threatens our freedom and our future. There can be no compromise with her views, nor with her legions of followers."

The offspring of Trump Derangement Syndrome is Pelosi's triple nightmare  . . . "Second, I wonder how many from the left agree with Omar's anti-Obama remarks.  My guess is that many do but were afraid to say it.  After all, President Obama never closed Gitmo or stopped the drones, and indeed, he put a lot of kids in cages.

"These three ladies are Pelosi's nightmare because she can't stop them.  They owe nothing to the party leadership, and I wouldn't be surprised if they think of Pelosi what Omar thinks of Obama.

"Pelosi's three spoiled brats will make her long for her days as minority leader or when she didn't have to explain resolutions like the farce we saw last week."

Truly Bad People

"Rather than attempting to quell the fears of these children and allow them to be instead of scared pawns in a farcical progressive power play, the Democratic Party celebrates their deception. They’re proud of their work. They’re proud of the lying, they’re proud of the fear."

Townhall  " Fear is a great motivator, as is anger. Those two emotions are among the most powerful and destructive feelings that human beings can experience. Politicians use them, to varying degrees, regularly and effectively. But rarely has a political party so openly embraced these two sentiments as the argument for supporting them. Democrats no longer use fear and anger as tactics, they’re now both the means and the end to winning elections. And for a large percentage of the public, it works.
"Successful politicians who have a lasting place in history have taken the other route. Ronald Reagan sought to inspire the country to believe in themselves and the nation, even during the tension of the Cold War. John F. Kennedy and Bill Clinton did the same, telling people things could be better, that the United States is better. Even Donald Trump, with “Make America Great Again,” is telling people things can be better than the stagnation at the time.
"Now the Democrats have decided to take a different path. “The world is coming to an end” is meant to inspire only disaster avoidance if obedience is granted to liberals’ demand.
"This occurs on nearly every issue. Climate change will kill you, unless Democrats get their way." . . .

Women, what has being Democrats done to you?

"It’s worth noting in passing that even the private Sidwell Friends School in D.C., which is chock full of the children of Democratic officials (like the Obamas) and functionaries was the site of an anti-Semitic incident this week. A teacher at the same school earlier harassed the Republican EPA head at a local restaurant. The apples are not falling far from the Democrats' tree." Clarice Feldman

Clarice Feldman: Democrats Working for Trump's Re-Election
"I find it impossible to disagree with Ryan Saavedra’s Twitter observation:

"The Democratic Party, which has called everything under the sun a “Nazi” for the last 3 years, all of a sudden can’t muster up the spine to condemn blatant anti-Semitism within their own party.”

"It’s been in the works for years under the cloak of intersectionality -- in truth little more than an effort to ingather voting blocs of illegal immigrants, Palestinian supporters, socialists, blacks locked in the ghettoes of their minds, sexual outliers – LGBT (and "whatever other gender” now included), and malcontent women delighted that even post-birth abortion will be legal.

"The three harpies -- Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Ilhan Omar, and Rashida Tlaib -- have stripped the veil from the Democratic tango dancers and presented House Speaker Nancy Pelosi with a dilemma: Who to bow to -- the Congressional Black Caucus without whose votes she would not have her position, or the weak-spined moderates and Jewish House members who might mouth objections but still will continue to vote with the party? From the standpoint of her own interests she chose wisely by endorsing an outrageous resolution. I believe and hope that she chose poorly from the standpoint of American voters." . . .

Covington Lawyer Reveals Plan to File Suit Against CNN Likely Next Week…

The Last Refuge  "The lawyer representing Covington High School student Nick Sandmann has told Fox News he plans to file a lawsuit against CNN likely next week.
"According to Fox News, lawyer L Lin Wood discussed his intentions for a more than $250 million lawsuit in an upcoming broadcast interview with host Mark Levin:

CNN is likely to be hit with a massive lawsuit worth more than $250 million over alleged “vicious” and “direct attacks” on Covington Catholic High School student Nick Sandmann, his lawyer has told Fox News.
Lawyer L. Lin Wood discussed his decision to sue CNN for its reporting and coverage of his client during an interview that will air on Fox News Channel’s “Life, Liberty & Levin” on Sunday at 10 p.m. ET.
[…] “CNN was probably more vicious in its direct attacks on Nicholas than The Washington Post. And CNN goes into millions of individuals’ homes.”
[…] “They really went after Nicholas with the idea that he was part of a mob that was attacking the Black Hebrew Israelites, yelling racist slurs at the Black Hebrew Israelites. Totally false.

“Now you say you’ve seen the tape; if you took the time to look at the full context of what happened that day, Nicholas Sandmann did absolutely nothing wrong. He was, as I’ve said to others, he was the only adult in the room. But you have a situation where CNN couldn’t resist the idea that here’s a guy with a young boy, that Make America Great Again cap on. So they go after him.”

How liberals would stop the invasion

But liberals are thinkers. Their solution would be to look at the problem. People come here to escape "violence and poverty".  Ah, that is the problem. Never mind that most illegal aliens ultimately wind up in ghettos of violence and poverty run by Democrats.
Don Surber  "The New York Times reported, "The number of migrant families crossing the southwest border has once again broken records, with unauthorized entries nearly doubling what they were a year ago, suggesting that the Trump administration’s aggressive policies have not discouraged new migration to the United States.
"More than 76,000 migrants crossed the border without authorization in February, an 11-year high and a strong sign that stepped-up prosecutions, new controls on asylum and harsher detention policies have not reversed what remains a powerful lure for thousands of families fleeing violence and poverty."
"Any rational person would recognize that this is a crisis requiring immediate action.
"But we do not send rational people to Washington. We send people who defend antisemitism as "criticizing Israel."
"Instead of calling them insane, we call them liberals. They are extremists whose solutions never solve the problem.

Left Attacks Trump For Signing Bibles For Victims Of Tornado In Alabama

Weasel Zippers

"Get a life. Via Daily Caller:
President Donald Trump signed a handful of Bibles while visiting tornado-ravaged Lee County, Alabama, and the critics were quick to pounce.
MSNBC kicked off Saturday morning with a segment that was highly critical of the move.
Joe Watkins, former White House aide to President George H.W. Bush — who also happens to be a pastor — said he would “not be inclined to sign someone’s holy book.” He did, however, note that the people asking Trump to sign their Bibles did not appear to be bothered by it.
Former Obama White House aide Will Jawando added, “I’m of the opinion that only Jesus should be signing a Bible.”

Linda Sarsour Explains How She Influenced Democratic Leadership To Scrap Original Anti-Semitism Resolution

Daily Caller  . . . "The Women’s March co-founder attacked House Speaker Nancy Pelosi last Tuesday for initially allowing the anti-Semitism resolution, saying in a Facebook post, “Nancy is a typical white feminist upholding the patriarchy doing the dirty work of powerful white men. God forbid the men are upset – no worries, Nancy to the rescue to stroke their egos.”

"Democrats argued with one another last Wednesday over the resolution’s language. Washington Democratic Rep. Pramila Jayapal, the progressive caucus’s leader, did not want Omar’s name in the resolution, while a number of Jewish members reportedly pushed to include it. Ultimately, the resolution omitted Omar’s name.

According to Sarsour on Friday, she and her fellow organizers worked behind the scenes to change the original intent of the non-binding resolution by the end of the week. (RELATED: Democrat Anti-Hate Resolution Passes House)" . . .

Women’s March co-founder Linda Sarsour explained Friday how she and other left-wing organizers influenced the final language of the “anti-hate” resolution that passed the House Thursday night.

A free republic under this Constitutional form of government depends on Western cultural values to function. We see here that in this time, Islamic values go head to head with this Constitution and dominate a government that requires the willing cooperation of  its citizens. Tell me how you disagree with this statement. TD

Linda Sarsour Gives Orders To CAIR Who Then Block Reporter From Questioning Rep. Rashida Tlaib   "Video has surfaced showing Islamic supremacist, anti-Semitic activist Linda Sarsour ordering associates to block a reporter from entering the office of Rep. Rashida Tlaib, D-Mich.
"Asra Nomani, a journalist and leader in the Muslim Reform Movement, documented her attempt to enter Rep. Tlaib’s office along with others and how she was physically blocked from entering.
. . .
"Tlaib is very cozy with the Islamist organization. She is a regular at CAIR fundraising events across the country.
"That same day, Sarsour was pictured in front of anti-Semitic Democratic Rep. Ilhan Omar’s office. In the photo, taken by the radical-left, anti-Israel Jewish Voice for Peace group, she is flanked by the Hamas-supporting CAIR officials, Jinan Shbat and Nihad Awad." . . .

Micky Goodfella Cohen won’t take out Donald Trump

Niall Ferguson
The president’s ex-lawyer squeals, but no one knows when this show ends
. . . "Now imagine a similar exercise in March 2019. On what date will Donald J Trump leave the office of president? If, as in 1941, the majority of your seven senators were Democrats, I would guess that at least three would predict January 20, 2021 — the day the constitution requires Trump to hand over the White House if he is defeated in the 2020 election. But I doubt they would all say that.

"Senate Democrats are under instructions not to talk about impeaching Trump, but I am sure more than a handful think about it. So perhaps two out of seven would go for an earlier date, perhaps some time next year. But that would leave two pessimists. The first might say January 20, 2025, acknowledging that the president they love to hate could win a second term. The most pessimistic of them all, having read all those overwrought articles from two years ago about the coming Trump tyranny, might write “never”.

"One great benefit of recording such political wagers is that, years later, they can remind historians that the familiar past they study was once the uncertain future. We all know the United States eventually joined the fight against Axis powers. But that did not seem inevitable to many Americans, even in March 1941. In the same way, no one should pretend to know for sure how long the Trump presidency will last." . . .

Anti-Semitism Is Wrong, Even When a Designated Victim Like Ilhan Omar Does It

PJ Media
. . . And now the same process is happening with the Dems' purported opposition to anti-Semitism. If you haven't been following along, here's a quick recap of what just happened in Washington: Ilhan Omar is loudly and proudly anti-Semitic, her colleagues refuse to condemn it, and now, somehow, it's the Republicans' fault.
"I'm not Jewish, and I don't pretend to know what it's like to be Jewish. What I do know is that anti-Semitism is a litmus test to decide whether a person is capable of acting in good faith. If you genuinely believe that Jews have hypnotized the world, that anybody who disagrees has been bought off with Jewish money, and that Americans who criticize such rhetoric are more loyal to Israel than their own country -- all of which are things Ilhan Omar has said -- then there's just no reasoning with you. You are an insane bigot. I don't care if you're wearing a hijab or a MAGA hat, an anti-Semite is an anti-Semite.
"But the Democrats in Congress disagree." . . . Some of her Somali countrymen

How many and who would qualify for reparations?

"By pushing for compensatory reparations, Warren and Harris may be helping themselves, but they are further splitting their party along the lines of ethnicity and race and elevating an issue certain to divide their country more than it already is."
Patrick J. Buchanan   "Having embraced “Medicare-for-all,” free college tuition and a Green New Deal that would mandate an early end of all oil, gas and coal-fired power plants, the Democratic Party’s lurch to the left rolls on.

" 'Presidential candidates Kamala Harris and Elizabeth Warren both called last week for race-based reparations for slavery.

“ 'Centuries of slavery, Jim Crow, legal discrimination and segregation, and discrimination that exist today have led to a systemic wealth gap between black and white Americans,” Harris told The New York Times. “I’m serious about taking an approach that would change policies and structures and make real investments in black communities.”

"Echoed Sen. Warren: “We must confront the dark history of slavery and government-sanctioned discrimination in this country.” This history has crippled “the ability of black families to build wealth in America for generations.”

"That black Americans are handicapped by their history in this country, and cannot accumulate wealth as easily, and require compensatory reparations for slavery and segregation, is more than a controversial assertion." . . .

. . . "Warren says Native Americans, too, must be “part of the conversation.” Apparently, they suffer from a similar handicap and need the same reparations.
"How far and fast has the Democratic Party lunged leftward? In 2016, Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders all rejected reparations.
"Have Warren and Harris thought this through?"  . . .
