CNN’s Don Lemon Makes ‘Worst of Journalism’ List for 2014

"I don’t watch CNN anymore, but I’m very familiar with Don Lemon from all the times he’s appeared on conservative news sites seeking to correct something he said.

"According to The Hollywood Reporter, lots of people have noticed Lemon’s work:
CNN’s Don Lemon Named to ‘Worst Journalism of 2014′ List
Don Lemon has picked up a dubious honor: ranking in a Columbia Journalism Review fellow’s list of the “worst journalism” of 2014.
The anchor has made headlines throughout the year for controversial moments during his tenure as a CNN newsroom anchor.
In a post written by David Uberti, the CJR fellow makes a case for why Lemon deserves to be ranked along with other missteps in journalism over the past year.
As one of the most recognizable anchors on CNN, Don Lemon has helped lead the cable network’s coverage of the biggest stories of the year. Live television is exceedingly difficult to produce, of course, but Lemon’s gaffes this year offer a case study in how to choose words wisely — or not,” Uberti wrote.

"The fine folks at Twitchy think they may have uncovered the reason for Lemon’s new distinction:" ...

Giuliani: Obama Backing Police with Al Sharpton Next to Him Like Promising to Fight the Mafia Alongside Joe Colombo

"President Obama might offer plenty of praise for American police at some times, but his friendly associations with Al Sharpton and comments at other times add up to contempt for police officers, Rudy Giuliani says.

"Asked by CBS whether he’d recant some claims about President Obama’s anti-police rhetoric because the president has praised police often, Giuliani declined, and pointed first to the president’s frequent meetings with Sharpton.

“ 'You make Al Sharpton a close adviser, you’re going to turn police against you,” Giuliani said. “I saw this man help cause riots in New York; I’ve heard his anti-police invective firsthand. To have a man who hasn’t paid $4 million in taxes, to have a man who’s spent his career helping to create riots and phony stories about police, to have that man sitting next to you speaks volumes. Actions speak louder than words.”

“ 'You put Al Sharpton sitting next to you,” Giuliani said, “you just said you’re against the police.”...

Obama on Iran Embassy: ‘Never Say Never’

"President Barack Obama hinted that he might be prepared to establish a new U.S. embassy in Tehran ” if we can get a deal on making sure that Iran does not have a nuclear weapon,” and the deal led to warmer relations with the Iranian regime. Obama’s remarks were published Monday in an interview with National Public Radio host Steve Inskeep. Essentially, the U.S. would be prepared to tolerate and legitimize the autocratic rule of the Iranian regime, as long as it agreed not to become a nuclear threat." ...

This president is setting our nation up for some foreign policy failures. After it all falls apart, Mr. Obama will tell his adoring crowds how the following president's policies destroyed the good work done by him.
How ironic it would be if Obama had another Bush to blame for his failures. TD

The state of race relations in Obama's America

Urgent Message to Eric Holder: You and YOUR PEOPLE Are Out of Control!
 Dear Attorney General:
In case it has escaped your attention, you and YOUR PEOPLE, including Barack Obama, Al Sharpton, Mayor de Blasio and most members of the Democrat Party, have allowed yourselves to become agents of hatred and racial enmity of such intensity as to threaten the general peace and well being of the American people.
..."Your bias against law enforcement officials is particularly distressing when it stokes the fires of hatred against police." ...

NATIONAL REVIEW ONLINE : Ferguson's Media Darling Flames Out   "Joshua Williams was the liberal-media darling of the Ferguson protests; now he’s an alleged arsonist."

... "During the Ferguson protests, Williams perfected the skill of catching the attention of journalists and using them to elevate his claims of police brutality to national attention. Quoted or photographed in countless articles in publications including the New York Times and USA Today, Williams claims police in Ferguson, Mo., targeted him because he is black. The truth, caught on tape by National Review Online, is much different."...

Whose Puppet Are They?

Power Line "To a large degree, those who engage in violent protests are the same people, regardless of their alleged cause–anti-war, anti-economic development, anti-police. And those who organize the demonstrations are, likewise, largely the same groups, year after year. We wrote here about the fact that the Communist group A.N.S.W.E.R. is a chief organizer of the anti-police protests in New York. That post might have been the inspiration for this cartoon by Michael Ramirez, which depicts anti-police protesters as the puppets of A.N.S.W.E.R. and Occupy Wall Street, appropriately accompanied by a hammer and sickle.  "Why are these connections so little remarked upon in the press? Presumably because reporters and editors don’t want to embarrass their political allies."

Film review: The Interview

"NoteIncludes some spoilers.

"Let’s start off with the positive aspects of The Interview. The decision by some smaller theater operators to show the film demonstrated some courage and defiance, and the uneventful showings of The Interview exposed the lack of corporate intestinal fortitude in the larger chains in the face of hardly-credible threats. Sony’s decision to offer on-demand release in the face of a much-more credible threat from hackers could not have been an easy decision, even though it was the right one. Tinpot dictators and hackers should not be allowed to shut down American artists by extortion.

"With that in mind, I watched The Interview on YouTube yesterday, and the film raises a big question. It’s not why North Korea or hackers wanted to block it from publication. It’s why anyone at Sony would have green-lighted it in the first place.  Even for a bromedy, The Interview is exceedingly juvenile, obsessed with scatalogical humor, and is almost utterly lacking in wit." ...

While on the subject of tin-pot* dictators: Egypt Bans ‘Zionist’ Film on Biblical Exodus   “It is a Zionist film,” Egyptian culture minister, Gaber Asfour, said. “It gives a Zionist view of history and contains historical inaccuracies and that’s why we have decided to ban it.” The Guardian’s coverage of the issue is a fine example of cultural relativism. Would the paper have been so matter-of-fact about the story if it were Israel banning a story that celebrates Egyptians?

Have You Heard The Joke About The Rapper Who DEMANDED $100 Trillion In Reparations?

 Azealia Banks Reparations

Downtrend   "This past Friday, rapper Azealia Banks unleashed a Twitter rant in which she demanded that the U.S. government fork over $100 trillion in reparations, reports the Daily News:
“ITS MY MONEY, AND I WANT IT NOWWWWW!!!!!!” Banks tweeted on Friday afternoon, after linking to stories from various newspapers describing the ways in which American Indians and Holocaust survivors have sought reparations from the American and German governments, respectively.
“Jews and Native Americans all got reparations because they organized. Please don’t let my ‘beef’ with hip-hop distract from what we need… To be focusing on. We are owed MAJOR F***ING BUCKS kids, MAJOR BUCKS.”
"Keep in mind that this lunatic happens to be worth $3 million and grew up attending posh music schools in Manhattan."...

Trust me, there are millions of African-Americans who are embarrassed by characters such as this.

Ret. Woburn Chief Emotionally Speaks Out About “Protests” at Candle Light Vigil Honoring Slain Woburn Officer Jack Maguire

The Valley Patriot
“Many times our lives have been threatened by people like those today that are marching. And they shouldn’t. They should be thanking us and thanking Jack who gave his life for this community.”  Ret. Woburn Chief Phil Mahoney

..."Emotions still run deep in the City of Woburn, Massachusetts four years after the murder of Woburn Police Officer Jack Maguire, who was shot and killed by a Deval Patrick parolee who had robbed the Kohl’s jewelry counter only a few day’s after his release." '''

World War 2, Dec 27, 1944

While our troops were freezing in the Ardennes:
When the Army Invaded Montgomery Ward Bloomberg ViewLiveblogging World War II: December 27, 1944: FDR Seizes Montgomery Ward
" ...because the company refused to comply with a labor agreement."
I'm so thankful today's Democrat Party is above such actions.

One more sad note about US race relations back in those days. If we could only right those wrongs from long ago, to those people who were victims at that time.

Sadly, there was this incident in the Ardennes: Battle of the Bulge: Massacre of 11 black soldiers  “ 'On 15 February 1945, I personally examined the bodies of the American Negro soldiers listed below,” Everett wrote. In a single-spaced, one-page memo, the assistant regimental surgeon chronicled their wounds. Most had been killed by blows to the head with a blunt instrument, probably a rifle stock. They had been stabbed repeatedly with bayonets. The finger of one man was almost completely severed. The soldiers had been shot multiple times."

These solders were known as The Wereth 11 of WWII
...The Wereth incident happened on the same day, about 10 miles away in the farming village of Wereth, Belgium, and was likely carried out by the same division under SS Major Joachim Peiper.
After walking 10 miles in the deep snow to reach American lines, Mr. Stewart and 10 other black soldiers from the 333rd arrived, cold and wet, at the farmhouse of Mathias Langer, the Wereth mayor who took them in and gave them bread.
But someone in town tipped off the Germans, and an hour later a four-man SS patrol pulled up. The unit marched the U.S. soldiers into a cow pasture and executed them. Army autopsies showed signs of torture, although no one but the executioners really knows what happened in that field...
Black Soldiers Sacrifice Finally Told In New Film  ..."The Aubrey Stewart Project tells the story of James Aubrey Stewart, a soldier from Piedmont, West Virginia, who along with 10 other black soldiers sacrificed their lives to save a family during the Battle of the Bulge." ...

Profanity-screaming Muslims attack German church-goers, media silent

The love affair Muslims had for Germany when the Nazis were killing Jews by the millions seems to have dissipated.
I have long resented that peaceful Muslims do not publicly condemn acts such as this.  By the same token I have begun - at last! - to realize many of us Christians need to condemn the acts of the
Westboro "Baptist" Church  for their vicious behavior (but it is good to note they are an unusual group - not millions around the world). TD

Supporters of the Pegida movement protest at another of their weekly gatherings on December 15, 2014 in Dresden, Germany.

"According to an English translation of a report posted Friday at the German-language RP Online, a group of Muslim children, including one teenager, disrupted a Christmas service at St. Mary's Catholic church in the city of Mönchengladbach-Rheydt. According to the report, the Muslims disrupted the service shouting anti-Christian profanities. A Google search, however, found that aside from various conservative blogs, the news was completely ignored by the so-called "mainstream media.' "...  Hat tip to  Joe Newby

The 11 Most Politically Correct Moments on College Campuses in 2014

Katherine Timpf has done a great job compiling this list. Via College Insurrection

This is just a list of the subjects Ms. Timpf covers in more detail at the link.
"There are almost too many to choose from, but here are eleven of the most politically correct moments on college campuses in 2014:"

1. Princeton University students launched a microaggression-reporting service.

2. College students invented a roofie-detecting nail polish — only to be told that that’s actually also rape culture.

3. Students hosted an anti-rape-culture rally only to be told that’s — yep — actually also rape culture.

4. A school campaigned against “offensive” language such as “wuss,” “you guys,” and “derp” because it has an “oppressive impact on culture.”

5. Students opposed a female-to-male transgender candidate for class diversity officer because he’s a white man.

6. A school told its orientation officers not to use the word “freshman” because it promotes rape.

7. A liberal group demanded the school teach a mandatory transgender-sensitivity class to right the wrongs of colonial America.

8. A student newspaper’s editorial board wrote a whole piece about how racist bras are.

9. The War on Tacos.

10. The War on Coconut Bras. The photo at right I used to think hilarious, but it kinda gags me now.

11. Harvard University was about to stop buying water machines from the Israeli company SodaStream because they might be a microaggression.
