What the British did at Taranto in WW2 is a lesson for the US today

Seventy-Five Years after Taranto  "On November 11, 1940, Britain began its long counterattack against the four great powers that dominated Eurasia – Nazi Germany, Soviet Russia, Imperial Japan, and Fascist Italy – with a blow so unexpected and so devastating that military historians tend to assume that the results of that strike were inevitable.

"
Until that day, the British and French were reacting to the enemy. " .  . .

. . . Our generals and admirals doubtless have many ideas after hitting the bad guys in ways that unnerve them.  These "military commanders also know how to win big victories with the least amount of blood from our soldiers.  We need a president who will support them and empower them.

"Most of all, however, we need a political leader who grasps and articulates to our people and to our allies and enemies around the world that wars – hot, warm, or cold – are fought by good nations to win and for nothing less than victory.  And victory means defeating, utterly and absolutely, those who wish us harm."

Battle of Taranto   The Japanese watched this battle with great interest and out of it came the attack on Pearl Harbor.

Professor Crushes "Political Correctness" Wave Sweeping America

"In a time where college students are offended by pretty much everything, The Federalist Papers reports that one professor at UNC-Wilmington decided to cut through the rhetoric and let his students know that they aren’t the special snowflakes liberals and their parents would have them believe.

"His epic class introduction has gone viral, and for good reason: this is the most common sense lecture to come out of any college in a long time." . . .

This may finish Ben Carson with the media, but Obama, no sweat

Conservative America

9 False Things Obama Said About His Bio That Didn’t Cause a Media Feeding Frenzy
. . . "After a week of intense vetting for the Republican primary candidate, Carson unleashed a heated rebuke of the news media for what he later characterized as a “smear campaign.” Carson said at the press conference:
“I do not remember this level of scrutiny for one president Barack Obama when he was running. In fact, I remember just the opposite.”
"This brings up an interesting point: What are cases in the past when President Obama misstated points about his biography, but the media did not cause a national firestorm or characterize him as a pathological liar?

"Here are nine cases." . . .

Satire: Wait till you see what Obama has done with the month of December

SATIRE: Called false by Snopes

Obama National Muslim Appreciation Month
Obama Declares December As National Muslim Appreciation Month  "President Barack Obama held a press conference today to announce his decision which will make the month of December ‘National Muslim Appreciation Month’.

“ 'The Muslim community deserves our full acceptance and respect,” Obama told reporters. “We have disrespected these innocent and peaceful people in so many ways. We have killed millions of Muslims overseas since the September 11th attacks. They are not all bad. In fact most of them are good. So from now on, December will be a month to celebrate the Muslim people, the Sunnah and the Quran.”

Compare what we consider Obama capable of with what we see of Dr. Ben Carson

"Ben Carson spent a great deal of time learning medicine, and therefore likely spent the majority of his time with neurosurgeons. Call it a hunch. He also served on the boards of many businesses.

"Barack Obama has associated with marxists and terroristsFrank Marshall Davis a communist poet, Weather Underground terrorists Bill Ayers and Bernardine Dorn, David Axelrod and many other “questionable” people. Don’t worry. Whenever anyone found out about them, he immediately threw them under the bus."

Weasel of the Week Winner!

Nice Deb  "Once again, It’s time to present this week’s statuette of shame, The Golden Weasel!!

"Every Tuesday, the Council nominates some of the slimiest, most despicable characters in public life for some deed of evil, cowardice or corruption they’ve performed. Then we vote to single out one particular Weasel for special mention, to whom we award the statuette of shame, our special, 100% plastic Golden Weasel. This week’s nominees were all particularly slimy and despicable, but the votes are in and we have our winner…the envelope please…"

CNBC’s Faux ‘Journalist’ Carl Quintanilla!

"Fausta’s Blog: Carl Quintanilla, who came up with “Congressional Republicans, Democrats and the White House are about to strike a compromise that would raise the debt limit, prevent a government shutdown, and calm financial markets of the fear that a Washington crisis is on the way. Does your opposition to it show you’re not the kind of problem-solver that American voters want?”

"On the bright side, it gave Cruz an opening for the best line of the night.

"Oh, indeed it did. Several of them, in fact.

"Rush Limbaugh has said more than once that the rise of talk radio, conservative news, blogs and other media outlet in the last two decades or so are responsible for the main stream media having to break cover and reveal its blatant bias…and that we’ve reached a tipping point as far as a majority of Americans realizing how partisan and biased these ‘journalists’ actually are.

"The collective fellatio of President Barack Hussein Obama by these presstitutes was pretty revealing too for anyone paying attention.

"Carl Quintanilla is typical of the breed. A grad from the very lefty University of Colorado’s Boulder campus, his major was poli sci, not economics or finance. " . . .

The media's attempt to take down Dr. Ben Carson; Alisyn Camerota update

But first, perhaps Politico and others in the media would like to examine this:

Forget Carson and West Point: How About Hillary and the Marines
http://libertyunyielding.com/2015/02/24/cartoon-of-the-day-clintons-again/
"It’s funny how Politico can find an imaginary tale about Ben Carson and West Point, but failed to report on  a true scandal of Hillary and the Marines.  Hillary was speaking to female veterans in 1994, when she related a story about trying to join the Marines in 1975.  She claims they turned her down:

“ You’re too old, you can’t see and you’re a woman.  Maybe the dogs would take you.” (Dogs=Army)

“ 'It was not a very encouraging conversation,” Clinton added. “I decided maybe I’ll look for another way to serve my country.” . . .
. . .
"Hillary has been known to fudge the truth a bit.  She once told an audience that she was named after Sir Edmund Hillary.  The problem with that was she was born several years before Hillary climbed Mt Everest.  At the time Hillary was born, Hillary was an obscure beekeeper in the Australian outback.  No doubt, you remember her story about coming under fire in a 1994 trip to Bosnia.  (Wasn’t Brian Williams on that plane?)

"[B]ack in April, she told an audience in Iowa about her four immigrant grandparents.  That, too, was a bald faced lie.

"I can hardly wait until Politico reports on any of these stories."

Now, on to their coverage of Dr. Ben Carson:

Saturday Movie Matinee: The Media Attempts to Take Down Ben Carson
"The following video will be enraging to those of us who watched 2008 go by without an adequate vetting of Barack Hussein Obama. So much low hanging fruit – his commie grandparents, Frank Marshall Davis, the Marxist club at Occidental,  his drug use, Socialist conferences at Columbia, his close friendship with Bill Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn, his Islamist friends and sympathies – etc, etc, etc….

"They talked about Rev. Wright for about three weeks and dropped it like a lead balloon after Obama gave a “brilliant” (actually an aggravatingly dumb and pretentious) speech on race.

"They refused to look into his friendship with Ayers. Refused to investigate any of the disturbing rumors coming out of Chicago – rumors that I suspect will become common knowledge after Obama leaves office and someone decides to write a tell-all.

"Instead we’re focusing on whether or not someone from West Point offered Ben Carson a scholarship 50 years ago. This is the “scandal” the media gets exited about." . . .

. . . "In an attempt to defend this assault on the character of Ben Carson, Alisyn Camerota of CNN told the candidate on Friday that the media are fair and balanced because they “vetted” Barack Obama as a candidate by checking out reports that he once had a girlfriend, who “may have been a composite character.”

"All of this is happening now because Carson is doing very well in the presidential polls and could actually capture the GOP presidential nomination and threaten Hillary Clinton’s election to the presidency. However, our media are determined to have the first black president, whom they failed to vet for his communist connections and Muslim background, succeeded by the first woman president, no matter how corrupt and how tainted by the Benghazi massacre she may be.

"But in going after Carson, a decent man who has saved countless lives as a surgeon, the media are getting downright mean and silly. And typical of the bias they pretend not to have, they don’t seem to realize how ridiculous they look.

"Carson, who grew up without a father, has credited his mother, teachers, a band director and the choir director at the church he attended while going to Yale for helping turn around his life and becoming a success. After his career as a doctor, he then became a philanthropist, setting up reading rooms in schools and awarding scholarships to students. His adult life is a success story by any objective measure.

"But none of that matters because Carson is a black conservative who threatens the progressive, or dialectical, view of history and he must be destroyed." . . .

Krauthammer: GOP, take the winnings and run.

Charles Krauthammer

. . . "The CNBC debate was a gift for the GOP, so unadorned a demonstration of liberal
condescension, hostility and arrogance that the rest of the media — their ideological cover exposed — were forced to denounce and ridicule their ham-handed colleagues. What happened then? Instead of quitting while they were ahead, the Republicans plunged into a week of meetings and statements, whining and complaining, bouncing around a series of demands, including control of the kind of questions that may or may not be asked at future debates.

"Who’s the genius who thought up that one? First, it instantly allowed the liberal media to turn the tables and play defenders of journalistic independence against GOP bullies.

"Second, it made the Republicans look small. To paraphrase Chris Christie’s “fantasy football” moment, the economy is in the tank, Russia is on the move, the Islamic State is on the attack — and the candidates are debating the proper room temperature for a debate forum?" . . .

The Media Mafia has had it with Ben Carson

Sally Zelikovsky  . . . "Where's the beef?  Who was hurt by this?  Lying is noxious – so much so that it made it to the top ten things you shouldn't do to rattle the Big Guy upstairs.  I wouldn't mind it if Hillary, Bill, Barack, and Joe "Plagiarism Is a Form of Lying" Biden had to spend some quality time in the stocks for their lies.  But if no one is hurt – if it's just a lie or, in this case, more of an exaggeration – is there a punishable infraction?

"If he told this fib on his med school application and he was accepted, it might matter if he pushed out an equally qualified truth-telling candidate.  If he made up this malarkey to get a job, or a loan, then maybe there'd be some beef.

"But this story broke not because Carson lied in order to bolster his campaign or raise money under knowingly false pretenses and was "found out."  It broke not because someone discovered he was lying about his past to get ahead, receive special treatment, or secure the nomination.

"This story was unearthed by the Media Mob.  It was tucked away in Carson's book, Gifted Hands, and Charlie "Still Stupefied that Rubio Thinks Hillary Lied" Rose asked him about it.  This is what the Media Lynch Mob does.  It is their raison d'être.  They are programmed to annihilate Republican candidates, all the more worthy of destruction if they are female, black, Hispanic, or any other minority. " . . .

Carly Fiorina and the View

Michael Ramirez Cartoon

Whoopi Defends Planned Parenthood against Fiorina: ‘No One’s Harvesting Baby Parts’  . . . “Whether you’re pro-choice or pro-life, the majority of Americans are horrified by the reality that we’re harvesting baby parts through late-term abortions,” Fiorina said. “Carly, I need to stop you,” Goldberg interrupted. “Because that is not — you know that’s not true.”
“Carly, no one is harvesting baby parts,” Goldberg continued.
“It’s interesting that Planned Parenthood just announced that they were no longer going to take compensation for that,” Fiorina shot back.
“You can’t say things like that that aren’t true,” Behar interjected. “That offends my sensibility . . ."

Carly Fiorina Leaves The View Looking Like Idiots Once Again
. . . "They showed no decorum interrupting Carly several times showing no objectivity. The truth has no place on any Liberal show and the View is no exception."

After 'Demented' Comments, Fiorina Tells The Ladies of 'The View' She Has 'Thick Skin'
. . . In the most misleading question of the interview, Goldberg asked Fiorina if she is equipped to handle "humor," suggesting Fiorina had blown their jokes out of proportion.

"Of course, comedians can tell jokes. The problem, however, was that "The View's" hypocrisy has been exposed as a result of this feud. Behar, for instance, defended Fiorina when Donald Trump told viewers to "look at that face." Now, Behar is the one attacking the conservative woman's appearance.

"In a last bit of irony, Fox News' Martha MacCullum noted that on Thursday's taping of "The View," the hosts criticized women who attack other women."

Politico drops claim of "fabrication" from its Carson hit piece

Breitbart
GOP Presidential Candidate Ben Carson Takes Book Tour To Florida

. . . "Later on, the original draft states: “When presented with this evidence, Carson’s campaign conceded the story was false.”

"The updated story has amended this story to: “When presented by POLITICO with these facts, Carson’s campaign conceded he never applied.”

"Politico has taken a drubbing on social media and from outlets on the left and right since the original article was published and subsequently questioned on Friday morning.

"As Breitbart News Senior Editor-at-Large Ben Shapiro characterized the backlash:

Politico went for a hit and came up short. In the end, they stepped on a rake. Carson, whose campaign is largely built around bashing the media as biased attack machines for the left, will emerge not only unscathed, but stronger.
Actually, as it turns out, Politico’s story was false.   "First off, Carson’s story wasn’t false. Here is Carson’s recollection of events from Gifted Hands:" . . .

Cats who regretted their life choices

BoredPanda
"We took a lot of heat from dog owners after our last post about dogs that immediately regretted their poor life choices, so we decided it was time to spread the heat: this is Bored Panda's ultimate list of cat-fails!

"Maybe cats are more agile, and maybe even more clever, but that just means that there's that much more trouble for them to get into. Have you ever caught your cat in a predicament? Post your photos below, or vote on your favorite!"

Politico's Kyle Cheney attempts political assassination of Ben Carson

First, before we get into this story, Check out the relevant passage from Carson's book, Gifted Hands, presented as a smoking gun by MSNBC's Benjy Sarlin:

Embedded image permalink

Rush Limbaugh

. . . "'The Politico story is an outright Lie,'" it says here. "Dr. Carson as the leading ROTC student in Detroit was told by his Commanders that he could get an Appointment to the Academy. He never said he was admitted or even applied. The campaign never 'admitted to anything. This is what we have come to expect from Politico.' Politico reporter Kyle Cheney , who has the byline on the Carson story, did not immediately respond to multiple requests for comment," from The Daily Caller.

."RUSH:  I want to show you how this works.  I want to share with you some headlines that have run during the course of this program, and I want to preface it by saying the only people lying here are the Politico.  The only liar in this whole story is The Politico.  Well, actually there's more than that, because every other news organization that has reported and parroted the story is furthering the lie.  Politico is totally lying.  Ben Carson never said he accepted an invitation to West Point.  He never applied.  He never attended.

"He has been up front. He even admitted to Charlie Rose in an interview last month, "Yeah, I was told I could go to West Point. But I told him that was not the way I wanted to go in life.  I wanted to go into medicine." He's never misrepresented this. " . . .
. . .
So they don't know how to take him out.  They wouldn't know how to go about it.  They've tried insulting him. They've tried making fun of him not being able to do math. Nothing seems to damage his support.  "So how about saying he lied about going to West Point?  Let's try that!  Let's try that!  Let's just tell everybody that this guy lied about going to West Point."  That's what they're trying to make people believe today.
Politico Edits Ben Carson Hit Piece, Drops Claims of ‘Fabrication’  "Politico has rewritten the headline, lede, and several portions of the text of an article accusing Ben Carson of “fabricating” part of his personal biography involving the Military Academy at West Point." . . .
Kyle Cheney on Muck Rack

Here are some examples of the work done by Politico's Kyle Cheney

Kyle Cheney links Hillary's troubles to "GOP conspiracy"  Cheney writes, "A seemingly frustrated Hillary Clinton strove on Sunday to link the latest flap over her personal email server with the string of scandals and attacks Republicans raised against her in the 1990s."
