American Thinker has much to say about Alexandria Ocasio Cortez

Who was behind Alexandria Ocasio Cortez’s astonishing makeover?
. . . "Someone with deep knowledge of what expensive make-up can do to remake a human visage into something very different from the au naturel version went to work on her.  In tandem with her transformation from nerd to a female Che Guevara, she morphed from capitalist to membership in a party that wants to “abolish profit.' ” . . .

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez: Economist (no, really!)  "In 2011, Ocasio-Cortez earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics from Boston University.  This means that she learned about the efficiency of a free market, the damage that too much government spending can cause, and the work disincentive of taxation.  With a background like this, one would think she would be eminently qualified to help steer the federal government to a laissez-faire handling of private industry.  Some examples of elected officials trained in economics come to mind.

Donald Trump received an economics B.S. from Wharton.  As president, he saw too much regulation and excessive taxes.  He lowered both and observed a substantially lower unemployment rate." . . .

Did Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez's socialist fanaticism come from bitter failure in business?   . . . "It would have to have been a disappointment to fail in such a much-touted bright-star business. No wonder she was complaining about taxes. She probably ran head-first into regulations, monopoly practices from established publishing houses and other obstacles all businesses endure, too. And this being New York, possibly some mob shakedowns.
Even Ocasio-Cortez's tweets, done years ago, in 2011, suggest disappointment in business. A O-C's tweets, cited by the Daily Caller, are these:

133 Trump Supporters Attacked Following Maxine Waters’ Call for Violence

Neon Nettle
Civil war has already begun in America

"As attacks on Trump supporters reach epidemic levels, the mainstream media is now attempting to justify the horrifying assaults by pointing the finger at Trump's rhetoric for the senseless violence.
" such person is Maxine Waters.
"Congresswoman, who has recently had charges filed against her for assaulting a journalist, has claimed the weekend protest about President Donald Trump’s immigration policies proved "the people" want The Democrats to be more forceful and “more confrontational."
"The unhinged Democrat said:

“Well, let me just tell you this, first of all, the people of this country, no matter Republican or Democrat, do not like the idea that children have been separated. Republicans are making a mistake thinking they can hold on to that constituency, that so-called belongs to Donald Trump. On this issue, Republicans and Democrats, Independents alike are opposed to what is going on. And yes, people do want to see us being stronger and more forceful and to confront them on these policies.”
. . .
"To give you an idea of how bad the problem is, Breitbart’s John Nolte complied with an updated list of stories dealing with anti-Trump aggression and harassment. To highlight the severity of the situation, Breitbart’s John Nolte compiled a constantly updated list of stories dealing with anti-Trump aggression and harassment."
Here is the list, of which these are the first three incidents, starting at the bottom up to the most recent:
  • March 14, 2016: CNN treats man who tried to tackle Trump as folk hero.
  • March 12, 2016: Man tries to tackle Trump at campaign rally.
  • March 1, 2016: Former Daily Show contributor Larry Wilmore “jokes” about killing Trump.

LOOK: Students Outraged Over Trump's Unannounced SCOTUS Nominee. UpDATED

Fox News  "Students at New York University recently expressed their disdain over President Trump's pick to replace Supreme Court Associate Justice Anthony Kennedy.
"The only problem is, he hasn't announced his nominee yet.
"Campus Reform Media Director Cabot Phillips, who interviewed the students, said Sunday on "Fox & Friends" that many people seek to quickly show their hatred for President Trump the moment they hear his name.
" 'Other people, I think they just want to go along with the flow and make themselves sound intelligent and smart," he said.
President Trump has said he'll name a candidate on July 9, but many students criticized the nonexistent nominee when asked for their opinion, Phillips reported." . . .

UPDATE: Liberals Oppose (Insert Name Here) For The Supreme Court
. . . “-- will make abortion illegal and send women to prison!” This has already started. Democrats live here because it keeps their base angry and afraid, which is all they have to offer this election season. If President Donald Trump nominated beloved liberal abortionist and likely America’s most prolific serial killer Kermit Gosnell to replace retiring Justice Anthony Kennedy they’d still make this claim. It’s Pavlovian.

. . . “-- is out of the mainstream of American society.” When your base is on-call 24/7 to “take to the streets” to march against whatever they’re told to hate and your elected official come primarily from wealthy coastal states, your grasp on what is “mainstream” might not be as strong as you think. If you haven’t been to a private event or party where anyone disagrees with you and the mere mention of the name Trump puts a look on everyone’s face like they just bit a lemon, your world is more insulated than you know." . . .

Former Wrestlers & Coaches Come To Jim Jordan’s Defense Following Republican Establishment Smear Campaign UPDATED

UPDATE: What the Left doesn’t want you to know about Jim Jordan’s
accusers

. . . "7) Others who know Jordan deny this happened: “I am very distressed to hear that Mike DiSabato’s displaced personal vendetta has led to hostility filled accusations that Jim Jordan turned a blind eye to ANYTHING, let alone sexual abuse,” the emailed statement from Karen Mendoza also reads. “Long before Jimmy was a public servant, he lived the example of a man that Ray wanted to grow into with his own family.” George Pardos, a wrestler during Jordan’s coaching tenure turned Marine Corps veteran, says that the allegations are bunk. “For Jimmy to know that this was going on and not do anything about it, it wouldn’t happen. It’s completely out of character,” Pardos told The Hill. “I’ve had dinner at his house, worked out with him. This didn’t happen.” Pardos also accused his former teammates of trying to line their pockets through sexual abuse allegations following the $500 million settlement that Michigan State University struck with hundreds of victims of gymnastics coach Larry Nassar earlier this year. " . . .

DC Whispers

Former coaches, wrestlers, and colleagues rush to defend Rep. Jim Jordan
“ '…Pardos insisted Jordan was incapable of ignoring abuse. If the assistant coach knew Strauss was abusing students, Pardos tells me, “knowing Jimmy I think he would’ve ripped of his arm and beat him with it.”
"…Skove, who wrestled and trained with Jordan at the East-West tournament when the congressman was a student at the University of Wisconsin, couldn’t imagine Jordan ignoring abuse. “He definitely would’ve represented the wrestlers. From what I know of Jim and his personality, he’s not a flower. He isn’t going to wilt if something’s going on.”
"Some like Lee Kemp, a gold-medal Olympian and national champion, argue that accusations are part of a campaign to discredit Jordan now that the Ohio Republican is considering a bid for House Speaker. “This doctor worked with other sports teams too,” Kemp told me by phone. “Why pick out Jim? Clearly, this is an attempt to smear him.' ” . . .

The signs pile up: Hillary is running

Monica Showalter  "Michael Goodwin has a good one out, arguing that Hillary Clinton is running for president again. He bases that thinking observations about her frenzied emails and email-based fundraising. It's news, and as good an argument as any that the still-angry former first lady, Senator and ex-Secretary of State is not done fighting and wants to take one last shot at winning it next time.

"Goodwin observes that there are good reasons for it that shouldn't be ignored, writing:
First, because there’s no clear front-runner for the nomination 18 months into Trump’s presidency, Clinton remains the closest thing to an incumbent. She’s also got numerous advantages, from name recognition to campaign experience to an off-the-shelf Cabinet, that could give her a head start.
Second, a crowded, diverse field diminishes the chances of anyone knocking her off. Recall how Trump outlasted 16 GOP rivals by having a committed core of supporters that grew as the field shrunk. Clinton could be in a similar position — unpopular among many, but also unbeatable by a single opponent.
Third, looking ahead to the 2020 primaries, she sees no reason to fear the favorite daughters and sons in key blue states. She would almost certainly beat Sen. Kamala Harris in California, Sen. Cory Booker in New Jersey and Gov. Andrew Cuomo in New York.
. . . "I also noted how crazy she seemed to be getting as she tried to take credit for #MeToo in the wake of her enablement of Bill Clinton and her own efforts to discredit all of his many female sex-harassment accusers. To call her the founder of #MeToo is a delusion of grandeur.  What's more, it signaled she doesn't have enough to do with herself these days."

Remember the words of William Safire who called Hillary "a congenital liar".

Whom do we fear most: Hillary Clinton or those who adore her?

[California] Protesters Blast ICE As Agents Disrupt Child Sex-Trafficking Ring In Oakland, California

National Review

"As the national debate on immigration continues to heat up, video from last year has resurfaced of neighbors protesting U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Homeland Security agents as they broke up a child sex-trafficking ring in California.
"People in the West Oakland neighborhood of Oakland, Calif. woke up early one morning last year when they heard ICE agents raiding one of the houses and assumed the agents were arresting illegal immigrants, according to the video from a local CBS News outlet.
"The protesters, who crowded around the house, were apparently not given any information by the agents about what was happening.
“It’s been really tough because we have no idea what’s going on in there, and we know that there’s a lot of injustices that have been happening,” said Hadar Cohen, who held a sign reading, “No person is illegal.”
“ 'We care for our neighbors, and we’re for immigration rights.”
"The Oakland Police Department confirmed to the CBS station that the operation had nothing to do with immigration enforcement and the agents were acting on a federal search warrant obtained during an ongoing criminal investigation into juvenile sex trafficking." . . .  Hat tip to Weasel Zippers

A Dem grown-up warns the crazies that ‘Abolish ICE’ is a really bad idea
. . . " So, it is left to Democrats with a degree of immunity to leftist shaming to try to persuade the leftists to behave themselves. One such person is Obama’s Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson, whose African-American racial privilege helps deflect savage retaliation." . . .

Reading list for July 7

Hey, NeverTrumps, Where Would We Be with Hillary Clinton Right Now?
. . . "Massive numbers of job-killing Obama EPA regulations have been reversed.  The U.S. is now actually on track to become number one in oil  production very soon, another positive thing that will promote more U.S. job growth.  Trump has also instituted an economy-revitalizing phase-one tax cut with more ensuing phases on the way.  Are you paying attention, NeverTrumps?  The forty-fifth president of the United States has made the U.S. respectable again, crushing the terror group ISIS in less than a year.  The U.S. border is no longer wide open, and, slowly but surely, a wall is being built." . . .

How low will CNN go?  . . . "Overall in prime time, Fox averaged 2.45 million viewers and 480,000 in the 25–54 demographic.  MSNBC took second, with 1.74 million viewers and 346,000 in the prized demographic, and CNN finished third, with an average of 929,000 viewers per night and 302,000 viewers in the 25-54 demographic.". . .  Does that count CNN being on in all airports and recommended by California schools?

Trump Keeps His Promises to Veterans  . . . "Trump didn't just make vague promises – he outlined a 10-point plan for how he would reform the V.A. and bring dignity back to the lives of veterans all over the country.  It was an integral component of his campaign to Make America Great Again.  Among other goals, the plan touched on issues like: . . ."

Red Hen Reopening: Will The Joint That Jilted Sarah Sanders Survive?
. . . "[Black people in the past] were getting kicked out of places for the color of their skin, now we have people getting kicked out of restaurants for their political persuasion.' ” . . .

Exports hit a record high under Trump  . . . "I didn't make a big deal about the economy gaining a net 213,000 jobs in June because this is now the usual. The Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017 delivered within days. After 8 years, we still await Obama's health bomb to deliver those $2,500 reductions in premiums like he promised." . . .

Not a month goes by without a headline that Whites “should return stolen lands to Indian tribes.” . . . "Will the Chippewa return the land they drove the Sioux from? Will the Chinese relinquish Tibet and cease their ethnic cleansing? Will the Turks vacate the conquered Byzantine lands and return Constantinople? Will they cease the ethnic cleansing in Cyprus?" . . .

Screw Snopes! California Has Effectively Banned Showering And Doing Laundry On The Same Day

The Federalist
Snopes, Facebook, and others purporting to ‘fact check’ conservative frustrations with California’s new water-restrictions law are the ones misleading about its effects.
The latest in Facebook-policed “fake news” is a claim echoing through the conservative Twittersphere, including from my own account, that two bills outgoing California Gov. Jerry Brown signed impose such draconian water use standards that fines could be imposed for taking a shower and running laundry on the same day. Snopes rated these assertions as “mostly false,” and Facebook flagged stories about them as fake news.

"But Snopes, Facebook, and others purporting to “fact check” conservative frustrations with the law are the ones misleading about its effects. The way these allegedly neutral fact-checkers present repackaged liberal assumptions as hard fact is a great illustration of how the Left pulls off the kind of logical ju-jitsu that allows them to label conservative arguments as fake news in order to dismiss them.

"In this particular case, none of these “debunking” articles actually dispute the three most crucial facts: there is a daily per-person 55-gallon limit ratcheting down to 50 gallons over the course of a decade, fines will be imposed upon violation, and, for at least some users, a reasonable-length shower and running the wash will put them over. In fact, most of the articles in question actually confirm these three vital points, usually squashed into a final paragraph that contradicts the headline. Nevertheless, they conclude that conservatives are spreading false information." . . .

After Praising Pruitt’s Resignation, Left Insists Andrew Wheeler Is Worse

Those people must not be given into!

The Federalist  "Democrats’ joy was short lived on Thursday. After President Trump announced that Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Scott Pruitt was resigning after an intense political pressure campaign, he tweeted that Deputy Andrew Wheeler would take on the role.
"Wheeler shares many of the Pruitt’s policy views and was confirmed as deputy in April with only three Democratic votes. As with Pruitt, many on the Left find his views on climate change and environmental regulation disheartening. Similar to how many on the Left mourned Justice Anthony Kennedy’s retirement, environmental agencies and liberal commentators took to Twitter to express their dread of the new administrator of the EPA.
"The Natural Resources and Defense Council (NRDC), an environmental advocacy group, tweeted that Wheeler was just as nefarious and ill informed as Pruitt, but much more capable. The headline of the article reads “Who is Andrew Wheeler (And Why You Should Be Afraid Of Him).”
"Wheeler is Pruitt’s “ideological twin,” just with more “political savvy” according to the article." . . .

Pruitt's downfall was all about policy  . . . "
If journalists, lobbyists, and Democrats were actually concerned about unethical and corrupt activities at the EPA, transparency, questionable policies, and misuse of taxpayer money, they would have had a field day during Obama's eight years, and there was little coverage, so it is strictly about policies, and they will soon have a new target.
"Here are just some of the questionable, unethical, corrupt actions during Obama's tenure that received minuscule reporting, via Grabien:" . . .
Pruitt's actions were, I believe, firable and I think the disgusting part is that Obama, Hillary and any other Democrat you might name doing the same things would be no problem for the left. TD

KrisAnne Hall: A Word from a Recovering Liberal – Walk Away

When truth is the enemy or the cause of a hostile response, you know for sure that someone is afraid they are believing lies! Their foundation is being rocked, so keep on rocking! Keep shining that light. Keep walking a consistent walk.

Western Journal   "I was not born a constitutionalist. I did not live my life with an inherent understanding of liberty and what is necessary to defend it. I was not raised a Christian.
"For some, these things will be a stumbling block, so you need to know from me. I was raised a Democrat.
"The only thing more evil than Satan was a Republican in my home. There were no choices to be made in voting … straight Democrat Party line was the only choice.
" I was an environmentalist — a rabid environmentalist. Some of my best friends were members of Green Peace and I supported the World Wildlife Fund and PETA. I believed the earth would be better if there were no people at all. I was a vegetarian by ideology, not for health reasons, for almost 15 years.
"I believed in the “good” of scientific manipulations of food and the necessity of vaccines. Not only believed them, but helped create them when I was a biochemist for Monsanto.
"I believed in global warming and defended the theory vigorously. I believed in the Big Bang and openly criticized those who believed in creationism as ignorant and misled. " . . .

Will They Really #WalkAway From The Democrat Party?  . . . "How did the party of anti-Communist JFK end up with Commie wannabe Sanders so close to dethroning Hillary ‘Catch Me if You Can’ Clinton? Let me count the ways…" . . .

True or not, the leftist slander machine must be resisted

Anybody who stands against the leftist demagoguery seems to pay a high price. We must stand by conservatives who are being destroyed by the left. TD

"Democrats, Fake News Media and Law Firm Perkins Coie Try to Take Down Honest Jim Jordan with Disgusting, Scurrilous Charges"
. . . "The Reddit post continued by noting that Perkins Coie has numerous sinister actions involving the Democrat Party, for example –
…Perkins-Coie was the hub used by the Democratic Party to funnel money to Fusion GPS.
Obama for America paid $972,000 to Perkins Coie from April 2016 to August 2017. The payments were presented as “Legal Services” but it’s highly suspected the money was financing the phony Steele Dossier. Hillary for America paid $5.1million to Perkins Coie. The DNC paid $5.4million to the Perkins Coie.

Bret Baier Grills Jim Jordan on Abuse Allegations: Are You Saying This is a Conspiracy? . . . “ 'Okay, but you know there are others,” Baier pointed out. “It’s not just him.” The Fox News host pointed out that multiple wrestlers who praised Jordan, also maintained that he definitely knew about the abuse.
“ 'Not true,” Jordan replied to their claims. He added that “the timing is suspect,” as the allegations came as he’s being floated to serve as the next House Speaker." . . .
Lucianne comments: "Surprisingly to me, Jordan´s responses to Bret Baier don´t exactly inspire confidence that he had not at least heard rumors."

Demand From Liberals: Democrats Must Stay United Against Trump's SCOTUS Pick

Legal Insurrection
Guy Benson  "For weeks, Left-wing groups have been preparing for war against the president's forthcoming Supreme Court nominee, signaling furious opposition to any of the names on Trump's widelyreported short list. Activists are insisting that all 49 senate Democrats stick together to vote 'no,' a wall of solidarity that could help sway just two wavering Republicans to derail the selection.

"It's an uphill battle, even if Chuck Schumer manages to keep his whole team on the same side. Both Susan Collins and Lisa Murkowski, the GOP moderates who'd most plausibly break ranks, joined Mitch McConnell and all of their partisan colleagues to detonate the Reid Rule in order to confirm conservative Neil Gorsuch to the High Court last year. Each has a long history of voting to confirm judicial picks -- and not just from Republican presidents, in Collins' case. Unless Trump shocks everyone and picks somebody out of deep right field, or his nominee self-destructs, it's highly likely that all GOP members of the upper chamber will be on board. If that's the case, it'd be all over but the shouting -- and it may be a lot of shouting:
Under particular pressure to side with the president are the three red-state Democrats who voted for Justice Neil Gorsuch last year and face difficult reelection campaigns: Sens. Joe Manchin, Heidi Heitkamp, and Joe Donnelly. Keeping them in the Democratic fold — in the face of withering pressure from a liberal base that expects nothing less — amounts to the biggest challenge of Schumer’s 18-month tenure as Democratic leader. The New Yorker has preferred to take a hands-off approach to his moderate members, rather than twisting arms on big votes. Yet it’s far from clear that will work this time. “The message from grassroots groups is pretty clear: that if Democratic leadership can keep their caucus unified in doing no harm, we can aim our firepower on Republicans like Susan Collins and Lisa Murkowski and bring full pressure to bear in their states,” Adam Green, co-founder of the activist Progressive Change Campaign Committee, said in an interview.
"We condemn (fill in the blank)"
