Duffel Blog: Army to name new attack helicopter after Elizabeth Warren

The Duffel Blog: FORT RUCKER, Ala. — The U.S. Army will honor Elizabeth Warren and her Native American ancestry with the latest addition to its helicopter fleet, the AH-68 Warren, sources confirmed today.

The Warren will join the Black Hawk, Kiowa, Apache, and Lakota in the Army’s impressive legacy of combat aircraft named after Native American tribes.

"The Warren conquered its two chief competitors, the AH-67 Redskin and V-23 Columbus, to win the Army contract.

“The Redskin just offended too many white people, and frankly, I’m not even sure Redskin is a real tribe,” said Army Acquisition Corps Spokesman Maj. Darren Snyder. “And the Columbus, well that death trap killed people every time it landed.”

Snyder dismissed concerns regarding Warren’s Native American ancestry.

“ 'Do you really think Harvard hired her just to brag about having a Native American law professor?” he asked." . . .  About Duffel Blog

Actress Lori Loughlin (left) appears at a hearing at the federal courthouse in Los Angeles, Calif
. . . "Lessons? Here are two. First the good news: We are shocked by the actions of these parents precisely because there is so little corruption in America. If the problems were as systemic as some on the Internet believe, they would hardly raise such an outcry. Denizens of countries where bribery is a way of life look at us and say, “Amateurs.”

"The second lesson is not as comforting. Operation Varsity Blues is further evidence of the bankruptcy of American elites. For over a decade now, the legitimacy of elites in politics, foreign policy, central banking, journalism, religion, and economics has crumbled as reality failed to match their rhetoric. Education is the latest sphere where elites have betrayed our country’s institutions and our country’s people by using wealth and connections to rig the rules of the game.

"The scandal also points to the flagrant hypocrisy of Hollywood liberalism. No class is more moralistic, more hectoring, more obnoxiously activist than the Hollywood Left. They barrage Americans with displays of their virtue, their calls to humanitarianism, their paeans to multiculturalism and feminism, their slanders of President Trump, Vice President Pence, Republicans in general, and conservatives in particular. And they have great sway in national politics. A Democrat’s future depends on the beneficence of Hollywood donors — donors who were well represented among the individuals charged in Operation Varsity Blues.

"The entertainment-industry liberals talk a good game. But look at their actions. . ."

I still recall the image of actress Alyssa Milano, getting some great publicity by choosing the ideal place to sit in the Kavanaugh hearings. Her self-righteous glare giving her plenty of coverage at the expense of the Judge and his family. TD

Justice for Smollett versus justice for Loughlin

The spinning Wheel of Misfortune is fickle. Kathy Griffin and Roseanne Barr are gone for making bad jokes. Samantha Bee remains employed after calling the president's daughter the C-word.

Don Surber  "Jussie Smollett faces 16 charges for faking a hate crime. A Chicago judge set his bond at $100,000. He is still employed by the TV show, Empire.
"Lori Loughlin faces charges for cheating and bribing to get her daughter into a prestigious college. A federal magistrate set her bond at $1 million.
"Now I get the difference in bond.
"Smollett's case is local. Her case is federal because the complaint involves dozens of people in various states.
"But here is where the double standards apply." . . .

Well, Smollett has a two-fer in the Democrat assessment: black and gay. Loughlin is a woman, but white. Any public statements she makes would do well to begin with the words, "As a woman..."

The apology factory: Chelsea grovels - to defender of Jew-hating Omar; Nancy shows fear in her eyes

Are we looking at the beginning of a Congressional Islamic Caucus?
You never give anti-Semites so much as a millimeter of ground, and she ought to know it. It just goes to show how weak and tenuous the Democratic elites' claims to supporting condemnation against anti-Semitism really are. Chelsea Clinton folded like a cheap suit, when she should have pulled out her inner attack dog.
Democrats fold the same way before murderous dictators. TD

Monica Showalter  "To anyone but Stanford- and Oxford-educated Chelsea Clinton, it ought to be a no-brainer to tell defenders of anti-Semitic Rep. Ilhan Omar to go (k)iss up a rope.

"These jackasses decided that Chelsea Clinton's statements decrying the massacre at two mosques in New Zealand, by some self-described fascist freak, were hypocrisy, all because Clinton criticized Omar for her multiple Jew-hating tweets and statements. The statements against what came out of Omar's mouth, see, were what actually triggered the killings.

"10,000 miles around the world, Chelsea Clinton's criticisms were the very thing that activated Brandon Tarrant to fly to New Zealand from Australia, and then shoot up two places of worship and the people within.

"Somebody got a logic meter? Because this one would knock the needle off the scale.

"Chelsea, in that half-baked 'that you feel that way' of hers, decided to apologize. The Daily Caller reports:

“I’m so sorry that you feel that way. It was certainly never my intention. I do believe words matter. I believe we have to show solidarity,” Clinton stated when approached by students.

"It would have been a no-brainer, even for her, to come up with some pablum about not liking hate of any kind, making her way through some student memorial among the privileged hipsters of Greenwich Village." . . .

The left's "Apology Factory"
. . . "Coercions of public apologies vary from case to case. Some are benign: for example, when Steve Martin was forced to apologize for calling Carrie Fisher attractive. Others are quite malignant, like the recent attack by Media Matters on Tucker Carlson. The intent of course, not only was to force Carlson to apologize for the comments he made on a radio show years ago, but more importantly, to start the process of silencing his voice." . . .
. . . "This ideological strategy that Media Matters chose has backfired in the case of Carlson because the Fox News host did not respond as they hoped he would. Carlson, quite rightly, refused to yield to their demands and has not issued an apology." . . .

The fear in Nancy Pelosi’s eyes is what I’ll always remember about the Ilhan Omar Affair  "Nancy Pelosi doesn’t turn away from a fight, but turned away from a fight with Omar. That tells you how serious the situation is."
. . . Omar is no child, and she knew exactly what she was saying and she meant it. Pelosi knew that, but was afraid to say it." . . .

Contrast the above with this:

Sitting in at Speaker Pelosi's office to protest failure to condemn Rep. Omar
. . . "It was very successful, covered by Reuters, FoxBreitbart, CNS News, Christian Broadcast Network, Heritage, Daily Signal, and many more.  We began the event with a speech by me in front of the speaker's office, with a full crowd of people.  (There is a video from Breitbart here.)"

Bottom Line: Omar should be censured and, beyond that, removed from the powerful and influential House Foreign Affairs Committee that you, Madam Speaker, surprisingly granted to this first year legislator. Omar’s thinking, her conduct, and her blithe willingness to inject anti-Semitic tropes into the legislative process, make her unfit to hold such a strategic position.
Sincerely,
Rabbi Aryeh Spero,

Christchurch mosque shooting: Alleged Australian shooter remembered as 'relatively normal' visited North Korea before attack

Otto Warmbier came back from North Korea to die; Tarrant came back to kill.

9News
"The manifesto also referred to US President Donald Trump as “a symbol of renewed white identity”." Oh no! Conservatives do not need this gift to the Democrat Party. Republican blood will be shed on college campuses after this while the Democrats bloviate in anger, secretly loving all this. Meanwhile surviving families of these poor victims will mourn over their loss. TD
. . . "Tarrant is known to have visited Europe, South-East Asia and east Asia, embarking on a road trip through Portugal, Spain and France.
"Social media places him in Pakistan in October of last year and in North Korea, where he was photographed in a tour group visiting the Samjiyon Grand Monument.
"The destinations he visited now form part of the counterterror investigation being conducted into his past and character.
"I can't believe that someone I had daily dealings with would be capable to something of this extreme," Ms Gray said.
" 'I can only think that something has happened in those travels along the way."
"Shortly before the shooting, Grafton allegedly posted links to a manifesto titled ‘The Great Replacement’ declaring his intentions." . . .

. . . "Unusual places to visit and just traveling for years. He praised China, attacked conservatives, capitalists and Marxists, but the whole purpose seemed to be to pit people against each other and to influence the dialogue in the U.S. " . . .

The Semigoguery of Beto O’Rourke

Politico

With his hollow yet passionate appeals to goodness, light and possibility, the candidate exploits the naiveté of the mob. Will it work in 2020?

"Windmilling his arms as if operated by an amateur puppeteer and drawing on the leftover youth-pastor energy that powered his losing Senate campaign against Ted Cruz, Beto O’Rourke commenced his presidential campaign on Thursday in Keokuk, Iowa. Having cemented in the Cruz contest the political persona of a “better angels” candidate who preaches positivity and uplift, who espouses the right thing rather than the expedient thing, and who hails the other Democratic contenders and flatters his audiences with every breath, O’Rourke slathered the Iowa crowd with his usual campaign honey.
"And they loved it.
"But like any great chef, O’Rourke also knows when to sprinkle the vinegar.
“This is a defining moment of truth for this country, and for every single one of us,” O’Rourke said in the video announcing his candidacy earlier in the day. “The challenges that we face right now—the interconnected crises in our economy, our democracy and our climate—have never been greater. And they will either consume us or they will afford us the greatest opportunity to unleash the genius of the United States of America.”
"Challenges have never been greater? The economy looks pretty good, doesn’t it? Our democracy just replaced the Republican majority with a Democratic one in the House in an orderly election, so no impending crisis there, either. After conceding the climate point to O’Rourke, you’ve still got to ask: What’s behind his hysterics?" . . .

Communism and Youth: Seven Decades of Want and Misery Thanks To Useful Idiots.

Communist Youth  "Communism was one of the most important political movements of the twentieth century and communist leaders across the globe made young people central to their plans to create communist parties, states, and societies."
. . .
"Once in power, communist leaders made the transformation of the younger generation central to the attempt to create new communist societies. Because young people lacked prior political experience and were considered more malleable than adults, communist leaders believed they could be transformed into ardent supporters of communism and builders of new socialist societies. As Lenin declared in 1920, it was the youth of the world that were faced with the actual task of creating communist societies. To prepare the younger generation, communist regimes dismantled or undermined existing youth organizations and established party-controlled Communist Youth Leagues for young men and women and Young Pioneer sections for children. These organizations worked to educate young people in communist values and to aid the party as it worked to build communism. Thus, they provided political education for young people, sponsored communist cultural events and literacy campaigns, oversaw a range of activities in the schools, and served as a training ground for future membership in adult parties. Members of these youth groups, who often received privileged access to educational, professional, or political opportunities, were expected to devote themselves to the communist cause and participate actively in special campaigns." . . .
Red Guards: Chinese Communist Youth . . . "Moreover, the government was very permissive of the Red Guards, and even allowed the Red Guards to inflict bodily harm on people viewed as dissidents. The movement quickly grew out of control, frequently coming into conflict with authority and threatening public security until the government made efforts to rein the youths in. The Red Guard groups also suffered from in-fighting as factions developed among them. By the end of 1968, the group as a formal movement had dissolved." . . .

. . ." the Cultural Revolution Group directed the Red Guards to attack the 'Four Olds' of Chinese society (old customs, old culture, old habits and old ideas). For the rest of the year, Red Guards marched across China in a campaign to eradicate the 'Four Olds'. Old books and art were destroyed, museums were ransacked, and streets were renamed with new revolutionary names and adorned with pictures and the sayings of Mao.  Many famous temples, shrines, and other heritage sites in Beijing were attacked." . . .

These things would never take place in America; you think we're some third-world country?

Former Hillary Aide Not Happy That Beto Is Getting the Media Treatment Her Boss Deserved

Townhall  . . . “The only thing that I want to make sure is part of a conversation when we talk about Beto is that it would be near impossible for a woman to run that same kind of race,” McIntosh said. “Trying to imagine a woman saying ‘I was born to do this’ is really pretty impossible.' ” . . .
. . . "It's unlikely that fewer headlines about Clinton's email scandal would have helped. She had already done irreversible damage to her campaign by taking important demographics for granted and just flat out failing to relate to voters." . . .

O’Rourke Just Blew The Centrist Claim, Endorses Green New Deal, Says We Only Have 12 Years Left
"Well, at least he can claim to be making wind energy with those flailing arms." Video
"Beto O'Rourke on backing the Green New Deal: "This is our final chance. The scientists are absolutely unanimous on this, that we have no more than 12 years to take incredibly bold action on this crisis." "He goes on: "Do you want to make it." "They respond: "yes.' "
Watch Bobby O'Rourke destroy Joe Biden's presidential run
. . . "[O'Rourke] is the new rock star on the left.  He cannot stake a moderate position, as he has already supported the usual extreme positions that most of his opponents have previously enumerated.  But his most ardent followers are younger and highly motivated to change the world.  Already pundits are arguing that he is moderate.  If that is so, which it is not unless his opponent is Bernie Sanders, he is likely to take votes and polling numbers from Biden.

"So far, Uncle Joe presents the most reasonable option to fend off Trump's attack on socialism.  But at 76 and clearly without any energy in his last few speeches, he lacks the support of the media, which have chosen Beto.  This will keep Biden from showing enough star power and will likely doom his candidacy as time wears on.  Beto will have to find a way to kill off the rest of the pack.  This is unlikely.  You can ride a skateboard only so far." . . .
He gave a rather forlorn rationale for his campaign, as he sees himself as the last great hope for the planet.  Maybe he can take a weather balloon and float away.  Bye!
O'Rourke makes his pronouncements to the shreiks of young women in his crowd. Our generation was just as silly over Elvis and the Beatles, but not ready yet to do lasting damage to America as is this generation. TD  ‘OUR FINAL CHANCE’: Beto Compares Climate Change Proposals To D-Day, Embraces Far-Left Hysteria . . . "O'Rourke launched his 2020 campaign on Thursday morning, saying that the challenges that the United States faces are "the greatest in living memory." "At multiple campaigns stops in Iowa, O'Rourke hyped climate change hysteria, comparing climate change proposals to "those who were on the beaches in Normandy.' "

Column: Operation Varsity Blues and the hypocrisy of Hollywood liberals

"Every element of the college admissions scandal, aka "Operation Varsity Blues," is fascinating.
"There are the players: the Yale dad who, implicated in a securities fraud case, tipped the feds off to the caper; a shady high school counselor turned admissions consultant; the 36-year-old Harvard grad who sold his talents for standardized testing to the highest bidder; the comely actresses from Full House and Desperate Housewives; the fashion designer; the casino magnate. Who would have thought that one of the major headlines of 2019 would be "Lori Loughlin released on bond"?
"There are the children: the social media influencer (yes this is a thing) who was told of her parents' arrest while vacationing on the yacht of a USC trustee; the mom who submitted doctored photographs to USC to portray her son as a championship pole-vaulter; the place kicker for a high school with no football team; and the rap artist from the Upper East Side who defended his mom and dad to the press while smoking a blunt.
"There are the means: paying tens of thousands of dollars to Rick Singer, Trinity '86, who bribed athletic directors and coaches, doctored student résumés, and arranged for clients to take college admittance exams alongside a "proctor" who answered the questions for them. The icing on the cake: Some payments were made to a charitable foundation so the parents could get the tax write-off. What a country.
"There is the objective: placement at a high-profile school. Why? Social signaling, status games, but also because the wage premium for a college degree has become so large that parents are apparently willing to break federal law to earn it. Not for what the students learn at college—they hardly learn anything. Loughlin's daughter, the influencer, spoke for most undergraduates when she said, "I do want the experience of game days, partying—I don't really care about school, as you guys all know." Oh, we know. Otherwise your mom wouldn't be looking for a defense attorney." . . .By Matthew Continetti
