Biden's manic mood shifts

"So Biden’s SOTU speech hasn’t done much to help him on the issues but his angry visage is going to hurt him in the long run. Most people after hearing SOTU speeches don’t parse it like the politicians or Washington pundits. They are just left with an impression and the image in many minds is of an old man looking very angry and shouting." Greg Ganske

Biden’s State of the Union Speech Too Hot for Cool Medium; Greg Ganske  . . . "My wife is a retired family physician, has treated dementia and stroke patients with Adderall and Ritalin, and wondered the same.

Other physicians I know think similarly. A few comments from them: “If you look at how Biden usually is—slow and stumbling—compared to how he was during the State of The Union--fiery and angry—these are signs that are typical for someone taking Adderall or any amphetamine,” and "Adderall or Provigil are the GO pills used by Military Air Force--next day was running for Congress again," and "Absolutely yes. I considered modafanil which the military has used for years."  An anesthesiologist tells me, " I absolutely was thinking they pumped him up with either adderall, ritalin or modafanil. He also appeared to be very “edgy.” . . .
Biden Is 'Angry' Again. NBC News Offers Some Insight; Matt Vespa   . . .Biden is also a weak candidate, folks. His approval is in the toilet, and it will remain there. He’s too old and stupid to fix that until Election Day. It’s about animating base voters. It goes for both sides—it’s why Biden’s shambolic, off-the-rails State of the Union address was mostly about attacking Trump and the Republicans. He needed to get his base together, which had been drifting away from the president. Young voters, Blacks, Hispanics, labor union workers, and Arab Americans are all souring on Biden, along with independents. Trump doesn’t have a base problem. "It's still funny that Biden is indignant that the wider public isn’t stroking his ego over an economic recovery that began under Trump." . . .

"The crowd erupted with applause before Biden took a shot at Donald Trump, claiming that rather than calling them “ex-insurrectionists” and “criminals,” Trump calls them “patriots.”

"Glenn Beck notes that Biden’s rant isn’t even close to correct.
" 'In no court documents, in no court case, are they being convicted or tried for insurrection. None of them,” Glenn says.
“ 'We’re not trying to downplay what happened on the day, but like this idea that there was 1,200 people who tried to overturn the government is so completely insane and overblown that you lose all context of what actually happened on January 6,” Stu Burguiere agrees." . . .

Biden privately in 'rivalry' with Obama, former president's staff predicted Biden 'would suck as president'

Fox News

Obama-Biden rivalry goes back over a decade, according to a recent book

"President Biden compares himself to former President Obama in private as part of a years-long "rivalry" between the two men, according to a recent report. "Obama would be jealous," Biden has reportedly said, "when speaking about a perceived accomplishment," according to two Biden aides who spoke with Axios. Other Biden aides have complained that "Obama and his team did not fully appreciate Biden's experience with foreign policy, Congress and grip-and-grin politicking — and were disrespectful," the outlet revealed. "The Obama people thought Biden would suck as president," one former Biden aide told Axios."

Netanyahu responds to Schumer, Israel raids Al-Shifa hospital

"Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is firing back at Senator Majority Leader Chuck Schumer after he called him an "obstacle to peace" and urged Israel to hold new elections. This comes after months of war have unleashed devastation in the Gaza Strip as calls to address the humanitarian crisis continue.

"There's also been an operation ongoing at Al Shifa Hospital in Gaza City, the largest hospital in the Gaza Strip. The Israeli military recently released a statement saying that it now has full control over the medical facility calling on Hamas members to come out and surrender."

Schumer's Israel Intervention: Ally or Intruder? - The Jerusalem Post  MARCH 18, 2024    . . ."In 2010, Schumer’s comments at an Orthodox Union event, advocating for the economic strangulation of Gaza to discourage support for Hamas while emphasizing the importance of humanitarian aid, drew criticism. He credited economic prosperity in the West Bank to cooperation with Israel and justified Israel’s blockade of Gaza as a means to promote moderation.
"Schumer consistently supported Israel, notably during the 2014 Israel–Gaza conflict – and in 2018, he dismissed the connection between Israeli settlements in the West Bank and the overall conflict. He also co-sponsored a Senate resolution opposing UN Security Council Resolution 2334, which condemned settlement-building, criticizing the Obama administration for its abstention.
"In 2017, he co-sponsored the Israel Anti-Boycott Act, proposing penalties for participating in boycotts against Israel and settlements in response to Israeli government actions. He also introduced a resolution celebrating the 50th anniversary of Jerusalem’s reunification and praised then-President Donald Trump in 2018 for moving the embassy to Jerusalem – which he supported for decades.
"In the complex realm of international relations, the urge to advocate for democracy and peace is noble, but the path to such ideals must be taken carefully, respecting the sovereignty and will of each nation’s people.
"Schumer’s intentions, rooted in a long history of support for Israel, reflect a genuine desire for peace and stability in the region, but intervening in the political process of another democracy, especially an ally like Israel, raises significant concerns about respect for self-determination and the potential for unintended consequences.
"The delicate balance between supporting allies and respecting their autonomy requires nuanced understanding and restraint.
"While external voices can play a role in encouraging dialogue and peace, the decision-making power ultimately lies with the citizens in question.
"As history has often shown, external interventions in another country’s politics can complicate and sometimes exacerbate tensions, however well-intentioned.
"Most Israelis reject a two-state solution, so promoting one must honor the principles of sovereignty and self-determination. Let’s encourage dialogue, support and cooperation, but also remember the importance of allowing nations to chart their own course democratically.". .

Trump talks ‘bloodbath’ in auto industry if cheap Chinese EVs flood the market—Dems pretend he called for violence

My chance to use a new word: The mendacious and the unenlightened; The perfect makeup for what is the Democrat Party in 2024.

Trump talks ‘bloodbath’ in auto industry if cheap Chinese EVs flood the market—Dems pretend he called for violence - Jack Hellner

"The media and other Democrats know that Joe Biden and his policies are unpopular, so for the last eight years, they’ve sought to destroy Donald Trump, no matter how much they have to intentionally lie and mislead the public, and this latest iteration is beyond absurd.

"While speaking at a recent campaign rally, Trump said there would be a “bloodbath” in the auto industry if China flooded the American market with cheap electric vehicles flowing through Mexico—but instead of showing the full quote, much of the media, along with Biden campaign workers and Democrats like Pelosi, decided that with polls as bad as they are, they should intentionally mislead the public that Trump had called for violence if he doesn’t win in November.

"Here’s this, from RedState:" . . .

"The fact that the media and the White House got together so quickly to intentionally mislead the public shows how coordinated the actions are. Most of the media are just campaign workers for Democrats to push their policies no matter how destructive and unpopular they are—and this is just the umpteenth example.

"Biden and others have repeatedly lied about what Trump said in Charlottesville seven years ago for the sole purpose of ginning up racial hate and division of Trump—this was the “very fine people” hoax.

"The media and other Democrats know that Trump instructed his supporters to march “peacefully and patriotically” to the Capitol, yet they mostly hide it from the public. They know that the FBI said what happened was not an insurrection on January 6th, yet they continually mislead the public and claim that it was. They know that the January 6th committee intentionally hid from the public Trump’s suggestion to bring 10,000 members of the guard to the Capitol, but they in turn hid this truth from the public. Obviously Trump did not want violence that day or he wouldn’t have requested the guard show up. Why didn’t Pelosi and others secure the Capitol?" . . .

Since the mainstream media falsely claims that Donald Trump warned of a "bloodbath" if he loses the 2024 election, I encourage you to listen to what he actually said and what he was referring to and draw your own conclusion: the automobile industry and the loss of jobs. 2024 Could Turn on Smell of Selective Prosecution from Georgia to New York

The Odor of Mendacity: 2024 Could Turn on Smell of Selective Prosecution from Georgia to New York – JONATHAN TURLEY   . . ."Below is my column in the Hill on the recent decision in Georgia and the “odor of mendacity” rising out of various courtrooms across the country.  It is the smell of not just selective prosecution but political bias in our legal system. It is becoming harder to deny the existence of a two-track system of justice in the country as commentators and even a few courts raise concerns over the role of politics in prosecutions." . . .

Mendacity - Definition, Meaning & Synonyms | Vocabulary.com  Anyone in the habit of lying frequently has the characteristic of mendacity. People often accuse government officials of mendacity, or being less than honest. You're bound to get frustrated by the mendacity of your friend who's a pathological liar. Mendacity comes from the Latin root word mendacium, or "lie." Don't confuse mendacity with a similar-sounding word, audacity — which means "fearlessness, daring, or bravery."

Ethics complaints? Targeting law license? Troubles lie in wait for Georgia DA Fani Willis; WSJ    "Fani Willis is a lucky prosecutor, and Donald Trump is a lucky defendant to have her on his case. The Fulton County, Georgia, district attorney survived a judicial probe into her ethics on Friday, but in such a way that she has poisoned her own case. As the judge put it, “an odor of mendacity remains” around her actions.

"That was the ruling Friday by Fulton County Superior Court Judge Scott McAfee, who said the prosecution of Mr. Trump for trying to overturn Georgia’s election results can continue but either Ms. Willis or her romantic partner, prosecutor Nathan Wade, had to step aside from the case. The breakup is necessary to prevent the “appearance of impropriety” created by financial arrangements in their relationship. Mr. Wade resigned later on Friday.

"Judge McAfee said Mr. Trump’s legal team failed to clear the high bar of proving that Ms. Willis’s relationship with Mr. Wade (and the vacations he paid for) were an “actual” conflict of interest under Georgia law. Ms. Willis said she repaid Mr. Wade for her half of the trips. While that reimbursement practice may be “unusual,” the judge wrote, it is “not so incredible as to be inherently unbelievable.”

"But Judge McAfee was withering in his assessment of Ms. Willis’s conduct and her defense of it. The finding is “by no means an indication that the Court condones this tremendous lapse in judgment or the unprofessional manner of the District Attorney’s testimony,“ Judge McAfee writes. The record “highlights a significant appearance of impropriety that infects the current structure of the prosecution team.” . . .

Ethics complaints? Targeting law license? Troubles lie in wait for Georgia DA Fani Willis (msn.com)   . . ."Crucially, Judge Scott McAfee didn't actually conclude Willis had perjured herself, nor that she received a material financial benefit from hiring or dating Wade. However, he said reasonable people "could easily be left to wonder" whether Willis resumed a romantic relationship with Wade or was receiving financial benefits unless one of them stepped aside. Wade resigned later on Friday.

"The Georgia case alleges that Trump and 18 co-defendants — four of whom have taken plea deals — participated in a multi-pronged conspiracy to steal the 2020 presidential election.

"While Willis can still prosecute the case following the ruling, she may well face challenges to her law license at the State Bar of Georgia — even if experts don't expect those challenges to succeed based on existing evidence. She could also have to deal with other state regulators. Even before the decision, a conservative group asked the State Bar to open disciplinary proceedings against both Willis and Wade." . . .

Tyson Foods fires over 1,000 Americans, seeks to fill spots in new facilities with ‘asylum seekers’: report

Tyson Foods laying off Americans with plans to hire tens of thousands of illegals -Olivia Murray

Tyson Foods is on a mission to fire American, and hire foreigner. Too bad this is another product I can’t walk away from, because I never bought it to begin with.

. . ."(More than one-third of Tyson’s employees are “immigrants” and I have little confidence that even a majority of them are legal.)

Instead of American companies hiring third-world foreigners outside of the U.S., our politicians simply import those people here to take our jobs—before providing “free” room and board, “free” food, “free” health insurance, prepaid debit cards loaded with thousands of dollars, “free” public education, “free” college tuition, and many other “free” amenities. (It goes without saying, we are the ones paying for all of this.)

As Ohio’s J.D. Vance said:

All we know is that they are firing American workers and hiring illegal aliens to replace them. This is the entire point of illegal immigration — and Republicans, we’ve got to hammer this point home.’

At this point, I must remind you that Tyson’s Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer is an Ivy League grad, a member of the Council on Foreign Relations, and… a disciple of Klaus Schwab: John R. Tyson is an alumnus of the World Economic Forum’s Young Global Leaders project. The picture becomes a little clearer doesn’t it?" . . .

Bernie jumps the shark

Mark C. Ross - American Thinker

"Being a street-corner commie from Brooklyn, Bernie is straight from Central Casting.  He’s got the accent, the laughable dogma, and the continuing pursuit of a nonsensical utopia that are all needed to play the part.  He is a wish that won’t ever come true"

"America’s most conspicuous political clown has finally overestimated the ignorance of his followers.

"I’ve always doubted Bernie’s ability to do arithmetic, but his appeal for cutting another day off the work week without reducing a worker’s pay goes well beyond a “normal” conceptual defect.  Stepping on his own screed, he also blamed the decline in workers’ purchasing power on inflation.  Really?  What causes inflation?  Oh, yeah...Bernie and his fellow demagogues in D.C. are doing it by borrowing and printing more paper money so it can be embezzled by their cronies.

"It is true that lefties have blinders on when dealing with numbers.  Years ago, I was visiting some lefty friends who both happened to have MBAs.  They strenuously advocated the four-day work week as a means to reduce unemployment.  I asked them if they would be willing to take a 20% cut in their pay in order to let this happen.  They looked at each other and blurted out, “Of course not!”  Hence the triumph of ideology over quantitative analysis.

"Time passes, and Bernie’s nonsense is losing its appeal.  Americans, especially, are very, very jealous of their standard of living.  Making it more expensive for businesses to produce goods and services makes life in general more expensive.  Commies like Bernie believe that businesses should be social instruments, with the elevation of the common person as their reason for existence.  Profit, to them, is a dirty word.

"Guess what, Bernie: employers are not in business for their health.

"Bernie’s entrance into the national spotlight marked the beginning of the Democrat party’s profound lurch to the left — this in spite of his remaining an independent Democratic Socialist and not actually a Democrat.  So what?  “The Squad” followed his lead while also remaining under the Democrat tent." . . .

What Will Biden Do When Israel Finally Invades Rafah?

What Will Biden Do When Israel Finally Invades Rafah? – RedState

"As Israel intensifies its efforts to destroy Hamas, tensions between Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and President Joe Biden are growing. Israel began discussing an invasion of Rafah, a city located in the southern area of the Gaza Strip, a few weeks ago. Netanyahu indicated earlier that another hostage/prisoner exchange could delay the planned incursion.

"Now the prime minister has given the green light for the invasion - but what will Joe Biden do? That's not clear at all, and that lack of clarity is a problem.

More than a month after first announcing Israel’s intended offensive in Gaza’s southernmost city of Rafah, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has authorized plans for the incursion to take place, a spokesperson from the Prime Minister’s office confirmed on Friday. Though an exact time frame for the operation was not specified, it is said to include plans for the evacuation of the city’s civilians.

The announcement comes amid weeks of heightened concern among human rights organizations and world leaders alike about the impact that such an offensive would have on Rafah’s 1.4 million residents, many of whom were instructed to flee there at the onset of Israel’s ground invasion.

"As Israel continues to defy Biden and other world leaders who wish to see Israel halt its pursuit of Hamas, there is speculation as to what could happen when the IDF attacks Rafah. Congressional Democrats have expressed frustration with Israel’s pushback against the president. Sen. Chris Van Hollen (D-MD) said:

“Time and again, President Biden calls upon the Netanyahu government to take certain actions, and for the most part, time and again, Netanyahu ignores the president of the United States. And so I think that makes the United States look ineffective.”

"The lawmaker asserted that “to effectively enforce [Biden’s] warnings the administration has to use these other tools at its disposal,” which highlights a desire on the left for the White House to go harder in trying to compel Israel not to continue attacking Hamas, including conditioning U.S. military support and cutting off all military aid to Israel: . . ."

Biden Attack on Netanyahu Causes Worst Crisis in History of U.S.-Israel Relations

Joel B. Pollak: (breitbart.com)

The message to Israel’s enemies is clear: they are winning, despite Israel’s success against Hamas in Gaza thus war. The Biden Administration is rewarding Islamic terror, as well as the Iranian regime, apparently blind to the consequences.

Biting the Hand That Feeds You

"President Joe Biden’s endorsement Friday of a call by Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) for Israel to oust Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and hold new elections marks the worst crisis in the history of U.S.-Israel relations.

"Israel is currently fighting to defeat Hamas, which murdered 1,200 people in the October 7 terror attack. It is also under attack from Hezbollah in Lebanon, and has even faced missile attacks launched by Houthi rebels in Yemen.

"All of these groups are funded and armed by Iran, which views the United States as its enemy. Instead of backing Israel fully, Biden is not only criticizing Israel in increasingly strident terms, but demanding it remove its democratic leader.

"Biden is also slapping sanctions on Israelis who have not been convicted of any crime; this week, he also sanctioned two geographic areas under Israeli control in the West Bank. At the same time, he gave Iran a $10 billion sanctions waiver.

"Meanwhile, the Senate — at Schumer’s direction — is refusing to pass billions of dollars in military aid for Israel. And there are reports that the Biden administration is “slow-walking” deliveries of ammunition already promised to Israel.

"This is happening because Netanyahu — like most Israelis — rejects Biden’s plan to impose a Palestinian state after the war, which would reward Hamas for terror. Israelis also want to win the war — not to wait, and allow Hamas to survive.

"Biden is furious, and wants Netanyahu out of the way. So he, and Schumer, have sent a message to Israel: if you do not replace Netanyahu, you will not be receiving more money and more weapons. You will be on your own against terror.

"If Israel complies, and elects a new leader — should one be found who accepts Biden’s policies, which are rejected by the majority of Israelis — then Israel might receive aid and ammunition, but it would definitely fall short of its war goals. It would probably not be able to complete the defeat of Hamas in Rafah, and it would almost certainly be unable to secure northern Israel against Hezbollah. Israeli shipping through the Red Sea will remain impossible. Israel will lose the war." . . .

Netanyahu lectures the West: "Have you so quickly lost your moral consciences?"

“Days of Rage” Planned for Democratic Convention

  NoisyRoom.net

"The “Step Aside Joe” Movement, launched by the far-left group Roots Action, is demanding that Biden be replaced in part because of his lukewarm support for Israel’s response to the terrorism of October 7. Such a movement has a global context."

"Protests that are sure to turn violent are being planned by communist factions in the Democratic Party and worldwide to replace Joe Biden at the top of the ticket. Vice President Kamala Harris’s demand for a “ceasefire” between Israel and Hamas was clearly designed to save Biden from the gathering storm. In the speech, she condemned Israel for allowing a “humanitarian catastrophe” in Gaza.

"At the same time, Biden ordered the U.S. military to air-drop 38,000 meals to people on the ground in Hamas-controlled Gaza who had brought the terrorist group to power.

"Over the weekend, a Times Square pro-Hamas rally became a nightmare situation when protesters blocked a police Bomb Squad from responding to a potential bomb threat. The grenade was later determined to be inactive and inert.

"These demonstrations, as we have documented in a report with photographs, are largely organized by communist groups in America who pledge their allegiance to China and Russia.

Rashida Tlaib, Palestinian

"Biden’s initial support for Israel is coming back to haunt him, prompting talk even in left-wing circles of “Days of Rage” protests at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago in August that will seek his replacement by anti-Israel “progressives” aligned with Moscow and Havana.

"The violent “Days of Rage” protests in 1969 were the culmination of months of street actions and riots to protest support for anti-communist South Vietnam in its war with North Vietnam, backed by Russia and China. Under this kind of pressure, including riots during the Democratic National Convention in Chicago in 1968, incumbent Democratic President LBJ withdrew from the race, the Democratic Party splintered, and LBJ was replaced by Hubert Humphrey, a Senator who lost to Republican Richard Nixon in the general election.

"Senator Robert Kennedy had entered the race to challenge LBJ but was fatally shot for supporting Israel by a Palestinian Marxist, Sirhan Sirhan." . . .

Grumpy Old Man Mumbles State of the Union; Biden spoke with marbles in his mouth and read the teleprompter with an odd cadence.

The American Spectator | USA News and Politics

He appeared angry and shouted as much as talked. He attempted to bait the right-leaning contingent to his left, demagogued on wealthy Americans, and attacked the captive audience of the Supreme Court.

"Joe Biden, like Adolf Hitler and Axl Rose, arrived late. He entered the House of Representatives at 9:16 p.m. and began delivering his State of the Union nine minutes later. Unlike Christmas, it was not worth the wait.

"He addressed Russia’s invasion of Ukraine first and at great length. The invasion of America’s Southern border came later, precisely at 10:06 p.m. Citizens in McCallen, Texas, watching their city overrun, or in Roxbury, Massachusetts, seeing a local recreation center repurposed as a shelter for immigrants, did not enrich his family’s coffers as did the Ukrainian interests paying his son, after all.

" 'Freedom and democracy are under attack at home and overseas,” he said in juxtaposing the dual threats of Vladimir Putin with Donald Trump, who the president found, unlike Putin, so loathsome that he refused to say his name. President Biden called him “my predecessor” and “a former American president” and used pronouns. Republicans demanded he say murder victim Laken Riley’s name. He eventually did invoke “Lincoln Riley” — the head football coach at the University of Southern California — at heckler Marjorie Taylor Green’s instigation. But he never did say “Laken Riley” or “Donald Trump.”

"For different reasons he did the same with abortion. He referenced a woman in the audience who “had a fetus of a fatal condition,” whatever that meant, and needed to leave Texas “to get what she needed.” What she needed he did not say. He went on to euphemistically talk of abortion as the “treatment they need,” “reproductive freedom,” and the “right to choose.” Like the words “Donald Trump,” he could not say its name or accurately describe it. He instead characterized easier access to killing unborn children as a way to “stand up for families.”

"The president lashed out at “Big Landlords,” “Big Pharma,” and “Big Oil.” Left out of his tirade? Big Government. “I want to give public school teachers a raise,” “a future of paid leave,” “homecare and elder care,” “affordable high-speed internet for every American no matter where you live,” and “raise the federal minimum wage.” He spoke of “fiscally responsible ways” to pay for his wish list, including “making big corporations and the very wealthy finally begin to pay their fair share.” He would, presumably, determine what share amounted to fair.

“ 'My message to transgender America: I have your back,” he remarked in homage to diversity inspiring diverse interpretations. He name-dropped Native Americans. He highlighted African-American civil rights activists. It all sounded obligatory.

"The biggest lie of the night came from a woman who said nothing. Kamala Harris, whose office pursued almost 2,000 marijuana convictions when she served as district attorney in San Francisco, stood up and cheered Biden when he boasted of “expunging thousands of convictions for mere possession” of marijuana. One would need to expunge “thousands” just to undo what Harris did. A close second occurred when President Biden added the postscript, after pledging to ban assault weapons and impose other firearms restrictions, that “none of this violates the Second Amendment.”

"Biden displayed unusual energy and vigor early.  . . ."

A very specific cheat sheet reminds Biden how to act (nypost.com)   . . ."The prepared instructions for Biden — titled “Offshore Wind Drop-By Sequence of Events” — tell Biden to “enter the Roosevelt Room and say hello to participants.”

'Then, the paper says, “YOU take YOUR seat.”

'The typed-up note says that after reporters arrive, “YOU give brief comments (2 minutes).”

'When reporters depart, “YOU ask Liz Shuler, President, AFL-CIO, a question” and then “YOU thank participants” and “YOU depart.' ”

"Biden’s use of staff notes at events has been embarrassing before, such as last July, when an aide scrawled, “Sir, there is something on your chin.” Biden also held that note so it faced reporters and photographers." . . .

‘The Abolition of Man’: How C.S. Lewis’ Prophecy Is Being Fulfilled

 Jeff Minick - Intellectual Takeout

"For years now, our culture has waged war over the question of what it means to be a man. To that battlefield, some online pundits have brought the heavy artillery of C.S. Lewis’s 1943 book, The Abolition of Man: “We make men without chests and expect of them virtue and enterprise. We laugh at honor and are shocked to find traitors in our midst. We castrate and bid the geldings be fruitful.' ”

. . ."Fast-forward to our day, in which we are conditioned daily to accept new ideologies, sometimes twisting language to bring them to life. Phrases like toxic masculinity, reproductive choice, white privilege, gay marriage, and cisgender vs. transgender—all concepts that ignore objective truth and the anchor of tradition—now abound. Conditioners in our culture, for example, have taken a phenomenon like transgenderism (once rare and, until recently, regarded as a mental illness), reworked it into an ideology, and encouraged more and more people to accept it as the norm, with deniers often suffering severe consequences.

"Other Conditioners are intent on convincing us to eat bugs rather than beef and to eradicate fossil fuels, all to save the planet from climate change, a measure which could leave countless people impoverished or dead of starvation. As Lewis told us, our Conditioners know how to produce and influence conscience, and they busy themselves day and night to that end." . . .

Quoting C.S. Lewis: "Traditional values are to be ‘debunked’ and mankind to be cut into some fresh shape. … The belief that we can invent ‘ideologies’ at pleasure, and the consequent treatment of mankind as mere … specimens … begins to affect our very language. Once we killed bad men; now we liquidate unsocial elements."
