Oops, my bad: ". . . against whom he has a grudge". Anyway, I digress: And he's getting the United States to pay for it. Honestly, this is necessary to help the Secret Service do its job, but I do recognize a bit of irony in it. TD
SandraRose"President Barack Obama is preparing to move into his $6 million rented mansion within walking distance of his soon-to-be former residence.

"Star Wars directors George Lucas and JJ Abrams arrived to the party as well shoulder to shoulder with the likes of Questlove of A Tribe Called Quest, who deejayed the evening."
Recall this?"Obama: Trump Hangs Out With Celebrities, Doesn’t Care About Working People Unless They’re Mowing His Lawn" But I have digressed; back to the Obama departure (You'll have to ask Al Sharpton for the new address). Obama's parting shots . . . "But with time, he has shifted his argument for Clinton's loss to the difficulty of a female breaking through and implied that the Russian penetration of DNC computers was critical to undermining her victory. Obama has decided to erect roadblocks for Trump and alter longstanding relationships with allies such as Israel as a result of the Clinton loss." . . .
Obama set for pardon frenzy as he leaves office. . . "If Obama fails to pardon Snowden, his supporters say he may face the death penalty under the incoming administration of Republican Donald Trump, who has called him a "terrible traitor."

How many more killers who have sworn to attack America will Obama release?. . . "This is what happens when national security is pushed aside in favor of a political agenda. President Obama promised to close the prison camp at Guantanamo Bay, and he is willing to sacrifice American lives to fulfill that pledge. " . . . Obama's Last Chance. . . "Obama’s years will be seen as the time partisanship grew and racial tensions rose again.
"But there is a last-minute chance to use Obama’s symbolic presidency to do something good and noble." . . .
"For example, The White House now claims that it needed to erect barricades at the WWII Memorial to keep out vistors, including a group of visiting WWII veterans, because parks service personnel know how to perform CPR. (Seriously, that’s the claim.) " . . .
. . . The Barry-cades should be the symbol of this “shutdown” — political opportunism by Obama and the Democrats in Congress who create unnecessary photo-ops, even if it means ambushing visiting WWII veterans and ordinary citizens in order to protect special Obamacare privileges enjoyed by members of Congress. . . .
The vindictiveness of Obama shown during the government shutdown "However, the Obama Administration is going out of its way to take unreasonable and unnecessary steps to block public access to parks and monuments that isn’t warranted by a government shutdown. For example, open air parks and national monuments, places without doors or gates, where people are allowed to visit 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, have been barricaded off. In addition, none of these D.C. memorials were closed during the last government shutdown in 1995-1996 under the Clinton Administration. The Obama Administration’s closing of these sites is not something they are required to do; it’s something they are CHOOSING to do. The Obama Administration wants the effects of this government shutdown to be as painful as possible." . . . Obama's Spite Fences.

Matt Margolis"With the Senate looking to be on the verge of starting an impeachment trial for President Trump over bogus allegations that he incited the assault on the Capitol on January 6, Democrats have established the precedent that even after a president is out of office, he must be held accountable for alleged crimes committed during his presidency.
“ 'If it is a good idea to impeach and try former presidents, what about former Democratic presidents when Republicans get the majority in 2022?” asked Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas) as an ominous warning to Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.). “Think about it and let’s do what is best for the country.”
"Cornyn’s message was clear. The Democrats, in proceeding with this impeachment, will have opened Pandora’s Box. While it’s hardly a sure thing that Republicans would have the courage to impeach former Democrat presidents once they are back in the majority (let alone a current one) the possibility now exists.
"Cary Elwes, the actor most famous for his role as Westley in The Princess Bride, scoffed at Cornyn’s hypothetical: “And what would you try to impeach former Democratic Presidents for?”
"Well, that’s the question I’m about to answer. The most obvious former Democrat president who could be and should be impeached despite already having left office is Barack Obama. While Democrats are most likely motivated by their desire to prevent President Trump from running for president again, there are other benefits given to former presidents that would be taken away upon conviction. Given his many impeachable acts while in office, the post-presidency impeachment of Barack Obama would hopefully set an example for future presidents.
"I’ve compiled ten things Barack Obama could be impeached for once Republicans retake the majority in the House.: . . .
10. Illegally firing an inspector general to protect a sex predator...
Allow me to add to the list these items that the vindictive man-child Barack Obama inflicted on us:
"Obama’s IRS also attempted to silence political enemies.Lois Lerner, an IRS official who served under Obama, threatened Tea Party nonprofits that had applied for tax-exempt status throughout the 2010 midterms and the 2012 presidential election." . . .
2013: Obama Wants to Make the Shutdown Hurt Ordinary Americans. . . "The managing director of the farm, Anna Eberly, said, “In all the years I have worked with the National Park Service … I have never worked with a more arrogant, arbitrary and vindictive group representing the NPS,” Eberly said." . . . "Mr. Obama’s behavior is not normal behavior but it is the behavior one would expect in a Banana Republic." . . .
President Obama wants the government shutdown to hurt, and hurt bad. He closed a World War II memorial and tried to block veterans from remembering their service to their country. Is Obama using the federal budget to spite veterans and the elderly? Hear what Trifecta thinks.
Silvio Canto, Jr.. . . " 'Pathetic" is all you can say. Again, he must be scared about something.
"On the other hand, President Bush delivered a speech fitting for a funeral. He remembered the man and did not go out of his way to insult anymore.
"We remind you that the late Representative Lewis was not exactly nice to President Bush. He skipped his inaugurations and was never a voice of reason on issues like school choice, black on black crime, or the state of our inner cities.
"Let the world see what I saw: Bitter Obama vs Gracious Bush. It was clear to see unless you hate Trump so much that truth does not matter." . . .
Martin Luther King Jr.'s Niece Slams Obama for Politicized John Lewis Eulogy. . . “You know, actually President Trump is saying, ‘People, please pay attention. We do want you to vote. Use your absentee ballots. Go to the polls.’ He has even encouraged, you know, people to be poll watchers and poll workers and that kind of thing,” she said.
“President Trump is not trying to suppress the vote,” she added.
"The former president also advocated for statehood for Washington, D.C. and for ending the Senate filibuster during the political eulogy."
Obama Graces Us with His CynicismKatie Pavlich "This week the ugly, divisive, dishonest character of former President Barack Obama reminded us of the worst of his tenure in the White House." . . .
"As for the so-called "protests" Obama referred to, where is his condemnation of the destruction in inner-city America? Especially the places where black-owned businesses have been burned to the ground, leaving the lives of owners, employees and patrons marred forever. Does he have any concern the number one cause of death for young black men is homicide?" . . .
Obama Will Never Leave You Alone"When George W. Bush finished his second term, he quietly exited the national stage and allowed the age of Obama to begin without interference. Obama has no intention of affording his successor the same courtesy.
"He is a different man than Bush. He loves the spotlight too much to leave. He also knows that the press loves him more than Trump and will run to him for comment on everything Trump does.
If you thought you were rid of Obama, guess again.
"Pirro also reminded viewers that Obama told Stephen Colbert that he’d like to be telling a “stand-in” or a “front man/woman” what to do from behind the scenes in a theoretical third presidential term (which is prohibited by the U.S. Constitution) in office. “So I ask you, who do you think is running the White House?” Jeanine Pirro concluded." Jeanine Pirro
"“What are we supposed to conclude when the most powerful man in the free world says that someone will reprimand him if he doesn’t do what they tell him to do?” she asked. “Is someone else in charge?”
"Pirro then implied that she thinks she might know who is calling the shots on a de facto basis.

Is Peter Doocy allowed in this "room"?
“And by the way, how is it that Kamala Harris, who is Joe Biden’s choice for vice president, was even given that opportunity given the fact that she called him out on his racist beliefs? And why would someone as clueless as ‘cackler Kamala,’ who had to drop out of a presidential primary because she couldn’t get 1%, how is it that she’s now the vice president of the United States? Think back to Barack Obama’s affection for Kamala Harris"…
. . . "Here’s how political analyst Dan Schnur put it, as transcribed by the Examiner:
“Obama is the most popular politician in the country right now, and any Democratic candidate who is relying on support from swing voters needs him. This is what’s happening in Virginia right now, but next year you’ll see Obama campaigning in these key districts in addition to, or instead of, Biden.”
The Vindictive Obama is "most popular"! Perhaps with those who mask up, burning cities and ruining America's historical monuments. TD
Having seen Obama's past actions, one must assume he is being spiteful and vindictive toward Republicans. As far as Cuban refugees are concerned, when in the past eight years has Obama stood with the persecuted against tyrants? Iran? Cuba? Venezuela? Islamic rulers? Russians? TD
. . . "What happens now? My guess is that some human rights group will challenge the decision because no one knows what will happen to the Cubans returned, as Senator Marco Rubio indicated.
"Also, did President Obama get any concessions from Raúl Castro that these Cubans won't be treated like traitors when they go back? In the past, returning Cubans have been targeted by the regime.
"My hope is that President Trump reverses Obama's decision and calls on Cuba to make some concessions, such as a guarantee that these Cubans will not be targeted. It could be part of a new deal with Cuba based on helping the Cuban people rather than making a deal for the sake of making a deal".
NY Times: Ordinary Cubans Fret About End to US Immigration Policy But Havana loves this and got it with nothing demanded in return by Obama. "The Cuban government hailed President Barack Obama´s decision ending automatic legal residency for any Cuban who touches U.S. soil, while ordinary citizens mourned the end of an easy pathway to a new life in the United States. Average Cubans and opponents of the island´s communist leaders said they expected pressure for reform to increase with the elimination of a mechanism that siphoned off the island´s most dissatisfied citizens and turned them into sources of remittances supporting relatives who remained on the island. The repeal of the "wet foot, dry foot" policy went into effect immediately after a Thursday afternoon announcement."
Obama Caves to Castro—AGAIN!. . . "First off, this U.S. immigration policy wasn’t invented for Cubans. Our status upon reaching U.S. shores actually had little to do with socalled "political pandering to the powerful Cubanexile lobby," and everything to do with something called the Refugee Relief Act signed into law by President Eisenhower in August 1953 to assist Iron Curtain refugees.
"Came Castro's Stalinist regime in 1959 and Cuba’s became a regime more oppressive than East Germany’s or Hungary’s and the Florida straits became a barrier far deadlier than the Iron Curtain. In fact, over twenty times as many Cubans died trying to breach it than Germans attempting to breach the Berlin Wall.
"Essentially the Cuban Adjustment Act of 1966 simply codified the 1953 Refugee Relief Act for victims of tropical Stalinism." . . .
"Four family members who ran one of the largest cartel smuggling operations in south Texas had their life in prison sentences commuted and will likely be returning to this border city from where they ran their criminal empire. One of the main destinations that the criminal organizations delivered drugs to was Chicago, Illinois.
" 'If Chuck Schumer tries this too much, he's going to get a million tweets," he added, referring to the Democratic New York senator's efforts to stall confirmation hearings on several of Trump's Cabinet picks.
" 'Trump has already changed the Republican Party," Horowitz told Dobbs. "It's going to take a longer effort by being a leader, being a fighter."
"Trump, Horowitz argues in "Big Agenda," will "drive a wedge" between Democrats and their inner-city base with his jobs-focused agenda.
" 'He has a new deal for the inner cities," Horowitz told Dobbs. "The Democratic Party has monopoly control of the inner cities.' " . . .
"Prominent offenders who had sought clemency and were NOT given it include Bowe Bergdahl, Rod Blagojevich and Edward Snowden."
A biker friend of mine told me once, with a sly smile, "Some girls just like bad boys." It appears the same can be said for Barack Obama.TD
Obama Booby Traps Trump With These 5 Moves"It’s customary for the lame duck to sit around and do nothing. To shop for houses or plan a vacation, but not Obama. This guy has unleashed his plot against Americans in his final days as President. Shockingly half the country is too blind to face the facts because they’re too busy boycotting an inauguration.
"Trump is stepping into the biggest White House disaster in history, and cleaning up the debris will be a mammoth undertaking. Hurricane Katrina made less of a mess. It’s like Obama went around setting booby traps for Trump to fall into. However, Trump won’t fall alone. He’s the leader of this great nation, which proves Obama never cared in the first place." . . .
You will find it pointed out in numerous places of the Tunnel Wall that Obama is a petulant, vindictive, juvenile-ish community organizer.
President Obama tried to sneak in a bevy of restrictive regulations on his way out the door.
Weekly Standard "Like a bachelor before a date, the Obama administration rushed around during the transition hiding dirty laundry for the incoming administration. And now, almost 100 days in, the Trump team is still working to find and undo a handful of underreported bureaucratic messes left behind. "The Obama administration was on cruise control before the election because almost everyone in the president’s circle was sure that Hillary Clinton would win. However, as reality set in, the president and his team rushed through a series of regulatory measures, leaving behind a a few dirty socks for the Trump administration to pick up. "In fact, this public policy cleanup has consumed the administration during the first 100 days and shows no signs of slowing. It indicates pettiness on the part of an outgoing president who rejected the results of the election because they clashed with his pride. "One of the most public wins in this administration-to-administration game has been rolling back Obama's rushed-through CAFE standards, which dictate how many MPG an automaker's fleet must average. Despite announcing in 2016 that the governmentwouldn'tpublish new standards until the middle of 2017, President Obama did exactly that as fast as possible after Clinton lost. (This might be the first example of a president breaking a campaign promise aftersomeone else's election.) "That wasn't the only mess though. Obama proved amazingly effective when his vindictiveness was roused. His administration filed suits against companies that weren't among his donors, and they checked off items from the supporter's wish lists as well." . . . Emphasis added, TD
"The Obama administration defied the wishes of Prime Minister Netanyahu and President-elect Donald Trump.
"Democrats are the so-called friends of Israel and they just lodged a major rebuke of our only Democratic ally in the region. It was a condemnation of their right to exist.
"The U.S. allowed the U.N. Security Council to condemn Israel’s settlements, which are simply apartment building or homes in their own country, in their own real capitol of Jerusalem.
"The U.N. Security Council called settlements a “flagrant violation” of international law.
"The only thing that is flagrant is what Obama just did. Thankfully, Hillary didn’t win because she said she would do the same thing." . . .
The administration’s decision not to veto the measure.... broke a longstanding American policy of serving as Israel’s sturdiest diplomatic shield at the United Nations....
The vote came a day after Mr. Trump personally intervened to keep the measure, proposed by Egypt, from coming up for a vote on Thursday, as scheduled. Mr. Trump’s aides said he had spoken to Mr. Netanyahu. Both men also spoke to the Egyptian president, Abdel Fattah el-Sisi. Egypt postponed the vote.
From the comments to this Althouse post:
Static Ping said... I want to thank Obama for confirming permanently that voting for Trump was the correct decision.
Chuck said...Last night on Fox, Alan Dershowitz made the case that this Obama decision could be damaging for years or decades into the future, without any chance (or much chance) for a President Trump to reverse it. It is a UN resolution; it isn't any old executive order. Trump can't do a new UN resolution with a stroke of his pen. Dershowitz also made the case that even a president-elect Hillary Clinton would have been calling Obama this week and begging him to not take this step. I'm no Israel expert; not even close. But this might be the most anti-Israeli thing that Obama has ever done, in an eight-year run of anti-Israeli things.
M Jordansaid...Netanyahu is the only world leader who didn't bow down and worship our man-child president. Obama waited until the curtain was closing on Act 5 to take a dump on him.
Unknownsaid...Well, they said that if I voted for Trump that we would have a racist, anti-semitic president who would stab Israel in the back!
And they were right!
Michael The Magnificentsaid...Dear American Jews, please pay attention to who treats you like a friend, and who doesn't.
If there’s one saving grace it’s that after eight years of letting the [petulant, vindictive] man-child lead from behind, adults are moving into the White House come January.
Clash Daily"Barack Obama’s working harder his last month or so in office than he has his last eight years in office. When you’ve got a legacy to manufacture, and Donald Trump to set up for failure, hard work comes easily I suppose. The examples are many and new ones are being added almost daily.
"Take for instance his order to scrap a registry program designed to identify and track potential terrorists. He had eight years to abolish it but somehow only got around to doing so in December 2016?
"Same goes for the sudden round of hysterics over Chinese military movements in the South China Sea. We’ve heard more about a Chinese military build-up in that part of the world these past few weeks than we’ve heard in years, even though the build-up isn’t anything new.
"Then there was the unprecedented failure by the US ambassador to the UN to vote on a resolution condemning Israeli settlements. Like R.E.M. once sang, “silence means approval”, so abstaining from the UN vote was condemnation of Israel under another name.
"There’s Russia. Heaven only knows what Obama has up his sleeve to make sure Trump’s administration starts out on difficult footing with the Russian regime." . . .
An evil and ugly speech. . . "It is an evil and ugly and dishonest speech — not from beginning to end, but at key points, with premeditation and intent to do harm. I challenge readers to find its like by any president in our history. It represents a nadir in presidential oratory and rhetoric. It warrants the closest attention." . . .
"Obama has jammed this deal down the throats of the American people. With the mechanics of the Corker bill in place and Obama’s Democratic adherents reliably in line behind him, Congress will present no serious obstacle to the deal. Obama’s Jew-baiting is the gratuitous act of an extraordinarily vindictive and, to give him the benefit of the doubt, misguided man. It should be nevertheless be recognized for what it is. "Obama’s real problem is not with Israel or Jews, but rather with the American people."
Obama and the Iranian Revolution Guard Corps . . . "Just because the sanctions regime allowed the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) more control over the Iranian economy does not mean that the lifting of sanctions will lessen the Revolutionary Guards’ economic power." . . .
The basic idea is simple: to oppose the president’s Iran deal means
you want war with Iran, you’re an Israeli agent, you are in the pay of
Jewish donors, and you are abandoning the best interests of the United
States. So Dan Pfeiffer, senior political adviser to Obama until this
winter, tweeted that Senator Charles Schumer — who announced his
opposition to the Iran deal last week — should not be Democratic leader
in the Senate because he “wants War with Iran.”
RedState comments: . . . "The criticism of Republicans is about what America can expect from a man

ideological pit bulls." . . .

Police Remove Vietnam War Veterans at Memorial Wall "After one group of veterans went around the barricade, "the park ranger told them the wall was closed," NBC's Mark Seagraves reported. "Later another group of vets showed up and moved the barricades. At that point, the memorial filled with vets and tourists. That's when police came and moved everyone out." .... The Obama administration has been very selective in devoting resources to shutting down memorials." This vindictive president and his administration. Iwo Jima Memorial Closed, Barricades Erected (Update: Vets Break Through)

Memorial circus outrages visitors “I think it’s trashy politics if a politician is coming down to get publicity at a memorial that they have closed. I’m talking about both sides,” said Colonel Al Appling..." Sure, blame both sides, but remember it is Obama who ordered these to be shut down. Feds Try to Close the OCEAN Because of Shutdown "The Park Service will also have rangers on duty to police the ban... of access to an ocean. The government will probably use more personnel and spend more resources to attempt to close the ocean, than it would in its normal course of business." All above via Drudge For Political Impact Only "The nameless bureaucrats that make anonymous decisions affecting our lives decided that open air walk through malls must now be enclosed and sealed. It takes more money and effort to close an open park or mall than to leave it open. I guess we shouldn't be surprised. The optics of the yellow tape around the WWII memorial screams "the Republicans did this".....at first. Then the analysis turns to the idiocy of the exercise and the bogus intent."

Making Life Difficult "The Democrats are claiming the Republicans are holding the nations "hostage." But is seems the mean- spirited hostility to the public is coming from the Obama administration."
UNBELIEVABLE: NPS blocks lane to prevent viewers from stopping on the side of the road to view Mt Rushmore! The National Park Service is run by Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar who sits at the table with Barack Obama during cabinet meetings. Here is where the President can give him instructions on what to do with American's access to national parks and memorials, including telling him not to spend money on blocking visitor access. Or, being Obama, this is likely where he told Salazar to make things as difficult for Americans as possible. Somehow I picture laughter around the cabinet table as Salazar told Obama he even put cones in the road so people cannot even stop to look at Mt. Rushmore. "Attaboy, Ken! I can't wait to blame this on the Republicans!" How vindictive of this petulant, spiteful, juvenile president. The Tunnel Dweller
