What conservatives should be FOR
RealClearPolitics by Heritage "It's seldom a good idea to raise taxes. But jacking them up as the country is struggling to recover from recession could push us back to the brink of economic disaster. As this election year kicks off, conservatives have a chance to lead by listening to the American people. They should draft a new "Contract with America" that promises to do what Americans want their leaders to do: Reduce spending, fix health care, keep us safe and hold the line on taxes."
Taking Terrorism Seriously
CATO "But the criteria U.S. intelligence agencies use for determining when to put a suspected terrorist on a watch list or a no-fly list, Crovitz shows, are adapted from a landmark law-enforcement case, Terry v. Ohio, concerning local traffic stops: “Mere guesses or inarticulate ‘hunches,’” the standard concludes, ”are not enough to constitute reasonable suspicion.” Is it any wonder that the dots were not connected. They won’t be until we start taking this war seriously."
Repeal the Health Bill
American Thinker "Over the last century, our liberal friends had one great advantage: Their naked power plays were written up by liberal journalists and historians as the very essence of progress and justice. Woe betide the dissident conservative who attempted to tell a different story. But then, in the fall of 2008, a political blessing came. The Democrats won the presidency, and eventually a filibuster-proof majority in Congress. They had the opportunity to ram through legislation that their liberal base wanted and that the American people hated, and they took it. "
No, These Aren’t Health Care Reform Fairy Tales
Pajamas Media "In plain English, those two sentences mean the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force and the new “health choices commissioner” will determine what preventive services, including mammograms, are covered under the health insurance plan envisioned in the House health care reform bill." Better known as a "death panel", wouldn't you say?
California: Drop dead
DailyMail “53% say the state should cut back on welfare programs, health services and the state payroll,” Rasmussen noted. Many a business today has empty desks. There is no reason a state government should be immune from this reality."
Olbermann: Hume Tried to ‘Force’ & ‘Threaten’ Tiger Woods into Christian Conversion
Newsbusters "The Countdown host introduced the segment, contending again that Hume had tried to "threaten" Woods into becoming a Christian: "Brit Hume of Fox News has not only not apologized for his bizarre on-air attempt to threaten Tiger Woods into converting to Christianity, he`s actually gone further."" Why MSNBC is the network for the left. More on Olbermann: "This is part of the infantilism of the left. If you disagree with their policies it means you "hate." Just the mere use of this world is all the evidence you kneed(sp) that Olbermann is a vacuous and shallow ObamaMyrmidon with no working familiarity with rational thinking processes." Neal Boortz
Sarah Palin Schools Obama: It’s War Not a Crime Spree
Gateway Pundit "President Obama was right to change his policy and decide to send no more detainees to Yemen where they can be free to rejoin their war on America. Now he must back off his reckless plan to close Guantanamo, begin treating terrorists as wartime enemies not suspects alleged to have committed crimes, and recognize that the real nature of the terrorist threat requires a commander-in-chief, not a constitutional law professor. "
Obama, the Overmatched President
Peter Wehner, Commentary "Memo to the President: You face stiff challenges, as do all presidents. But for the record, a recession is not a depression and the war in Afghanistan is not comparable to World War II. The most difficult actions that had to be taken on the economic front were ones done by your predecessor, before you were sworn in – and a good deal of the responsibility for what went wrong rests with the party you represent (see blocking reforms of Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae)."
Democrat electoral prospects worsening
Thomas Lifson "Rahm and company are not fools. The job they will protect is Obama's. This situation completely explains the rush to get everything done right away."
Democrats gear up for amnesty battle
Ann Kane,AT If the amnesty bill can be pushed through fast enough, the Democrat Party will increase its number of voters, unlikely for the November elections (although, never underestimate the Chicago way), but most assuredly for 2012."
Here's one for Jim DeMint
Andrew Thomas "He is very intelligent and has a firm grip on reality (which separates him from the majority in the Senate). Although I have respected him as a staunch conservative, I have never admired his acumen in the political arena as much as I do now."
