"U.S. Attorney John Lausch’s office indicted Democratic Chicago alderman Edward Burke who has been serving since 1969.
"Burke had been in the crosshairs of prosecutors for over forty years but it wasn’t until Lausch came into office that he was finally indicted.
"Lausch was also running a case targetting the most powerful state politician in the United States - Illinois House Speaker Mike Madigan.
"After years of inaction, Lausch had set his sights on Madigan, whose aides and cronies have been indicted for various crimes of influence over time." . . .
