Darrell Issa plans hundreds of hearings (Updated)

Politico  "Issa won’t have a shortage of targets. He’s been hammering for better tracking of the stimulus and has a growing list of other investigative targets, including the housing meltdown and the bank bailout."

Advice to administration officials; lawyer up  "Unlike Henry Waxman's bread and circuses - holding hearings on steroids in baseball, for instance, - Issa plans to get to the meat of the cronyism, the potentially illegality of czars, the threatening of inspector generals across the board, and the cozy relationship between Democrats and labor."

Manchin to flip Republican?

UK Daily Mail  "Republicans are making some big promises to try to lure West Virginia Senator-elect Joe Manchin to cross the aisle.
"Aside from his pick of committee assignments (likely the Energy and Natural Resources Committee), Manchin might get support for one of his pet projects – a plant to convert coal to diesel fuel that has stalled under Democratic leadership in Washington.
"It’s one of Manchin’s pet projects and could mean big money for the state’s coal producers."
Hey, they may be earmarks, but they're OUR earmarks.

Get to Work Repealing Obamacare

Heritage "The President just doesn’t get it. According to the national exit poll just 16% of voters want to leave Obamacare as is. A full 48% of voters want to see it outright repealed and another 31% want to see it changed in some way. Americans do want to relitigate Obamacare. Yesterday, here at The Heritage Foundation, Minority Leader Mitch McConnell promised to do just that:"...

CBO CONFIRMS OBAMACARE WILL INCREASE DRUG PRICES   "The CBO confirms the range of onerous restrictions and requirements will drive health care costs up, at odds with the claims made by its proponents. CBO’s letter specifies that manufacturers will have an incentive to raise drug prices and that, as a result, health care costs will increase for some seniors and for those who are uninsured."

Citing health overhaul, AARP hikes employee costs "In an e-mail to employees, AARP says health care premiums will increase by 8 percent to 13 percent next year because of rapidly rising medical costs.
"And AARP adds that it's changing copayments and deductibles to avoid a 40 percent tax on high-cost health plans that takes effect in 2018 under the law. Aerospace giant Boeing also has cited the tax in asking its workers to pay more. Shifting costs to employees lowers the value of a health care plan and acts like an escape hatch from the tax."

Busted! 12 Photos of the Global Warming Bunko Scam, Which You'll Never, Ever See in Legacy Media

Doug Ross "These photos highlight the locations of official climate thermometers, which -- if they're not missing altogether -- are intentionally placed near air conditioners or getting blasts from jet engines. You won't believe your eyes."

Socialists and Communists: Coming out of the Closet

Beatroot
American Thinker  "So what is the lesson here? The communists and socialists are attempting to become mainstream. The question remains: will it work? Time will tell. In the meantime, I would like to see these capitalist living bearded socialists try moving to one of the countries that already has a socialist or communist form of government in place. Try it out for awhile. Let me know how much you like it and get back to me. It would be fascinating to see if you continue to believe in those failed systems of government as you quickly flee back to the United States of America."

Defeated Democrats Pen Letter to Implore Pelosi to step aside

Fox News  "The letter goes on to say "Madam Speaker, fairly or unfairly, Republicans made you the face of the resentment and disagreement in our races. While we commend your years of service to our party and your leadership through many tough times, we respectfully ask that you step aside as the top Democrat in the House."
"The letter says that the defeated members "fear that Republicans will further demonize you, and in so doing, they will scare potential candidates out. The prospect of having to run against their own party leadership, in addition to their Republican opponent is simply too daunting.""   Hot Air photo

Get to Work Stopping the Obama Tax Hikes

Heritage  "President Obama is right: presidents often do get too much of the credit and too much of the blame for the economic performance of the country. But there is one aspect of the economy that President Obama does have control over: taxes. And at a time when our nation’s unemployment still hovers around 10%, President Obama’s tax plan raises taxes by $1.8 trillion over the next 10 years."
Stop the tax increases and Obama's people will then call it the "Obama Tax Cuts" to claim credit. But Reagan once said there's no limit to what you can accomplish as long as you don't care who gets the credit.

Eric Cantor: Dems Didn’t Get the Message If Pelosi is Made Minority Leader

Gateway Pundit  "“I mean, the voters outright rejected the agenda that she’s been about. And here they’re going to put her back in charge,” Cantor, in line to become the House majority leader in the next Congress, said on “Fox News Sunday.”"

NPR’s Mara Liasson today told the FOX News Sunday panel that antiwar socialist Nancy Pelosi is just like Winston Churchill.  "Churchill lifted his country to victory. Pro-surrender Pelosi helped democrats triple the deficit and double the unemployment rate. She rammed through nationalized health care on a strictly partisan vote.
"There’s a big difference, Mara."

Advice to the GOP: Steal the Immigration Issue from Democratic Demagogues

Verum Serum  "Simply put, steal the issue. There is precedent for this move. Back in 1996, when Clinton was rocked by the 1994 Republican sweep, he moved to the center and declared the era of big government over. By doing so, he refused to play the losing hand and instead took credit for many of Newt Gingrich’s accomplishments."

Bomb-proof tunnel with air conditioning: Obama's security go to extraordinary measures for his tour of the Gandhi museum

UK Daily Mail  "The White House has, according to some reports, booked the entire Taj Mahal Palace Hotel in Mumbai, the city’s most luxurious. It is not uncommon for the grander heads of state to reserve a floor or two, but a whole hotel is unprecedented. This hotel was the main target of the 2008 attacks by Pakistani militants which left 166 dead."

American Groupspeak

Victor Davis Hanson  "The fate of [NPR's Juan] Williams reminds us that Americans have developed two personas — one public and politically correct, the other private. Mix the two and big trouble ensues.
"Here are some reminders about what to shut up about."...

Why is Hillary Clinton hiding? Perhaps it's because her foreign policy has been a failure

UK Telegraph  "The last 21 months have been a period of marked US decline, both at home and abroad, for which Clinton also bears significant responsibility. The notion that she will emerge unscathed from the political revolution sweeping Washington is highly fanciful. The US public is increasingly disillusioned not only with President Obama, but more broadly with the most left-wing government in American history – one that has not only undercut freedoms at home, but which has significantly weakened the perception of America’s power abroad, and her ability to project it." Nile Gardiner
