Bully Pulpit " In a baffling and confusing interview, NBC News' newest star Al Sharpton doesn't seem to understand the difference between the debt ceiling issue, credit rating downgrade and default. He also, clearly, doesn't listen to his guest's answers to his nonsensical questions."

Why Obama Should Be Re-Elected
Frank J. Fleming "Obama also promised to get us out of Iraq, and he… started a war in Libya so we forgot all about Iraq. That’s pretty much the same thing. Another promise kept… approximately. And he used real outside-the-box thinking; Obama doesn’t do things the easy way. Like with getting ObamaCare passed — that was very difficult… especially since everyone hated it and didn’t want it. But Obama doesn’t care if something is difficult or unpopular or nonsensical or unaffordable; he just gets out there and gets it done. That’s a powerful president."

Tea Party Hobbits Respond To The So-Called Maverick
LibertyBelle "Angle issued a searing statement in response on Thursday, calling it “regrettable” that the senator has resorted to “name-calling.”
“Ironically, this man campaigned for TEA Party support in his last re-election, but now throws Christine O’Donnell and I into the harbor with Sarah Palin,” Angle said, adding that “as in the fable, it is the hobbits who are the heroes and save the land.”
Further, Angle mocked McCain for borrowing lines from a newspaper editorial, instead of writing the Tolkien-laced critique himself.
“It is similarly unfortunate that Senator McCain brings no new ideas to the Senate floor. In fact, so unoriginal is Senator McCain’s effort that he is reduced to borrowing words from an editorial — rather than bringing anything constructive to this debate,” she said.

The article cited by McCain: The GOP's Reality Test "Then Democrats would have no choice but to pass a balanced-budget amendment and reform entitlements, and the tea-party Hobbits could return to Middle Earth having defeated Mordor."This is the kind of crack political thinking that turned Sharron Angle and Christine O'Donnell into GOP Senate nominees." The TEA Party? Terrorists?
Obama's words following the Tucson shootings:
At a time when our discourse has become so sharply polarized, at a time when we are far too eager to lay the blame for all that ails the world at the feet of those who happen to think differently than we do, it's important for us to pause for a moment and make sure that we're talking with each other in a way that -- that heals, not in a way that wounds.
'They have acted like terrorists,' Biden said, according to several sources in the room.
"Biden was agreeing with a line of argument made by Rep. Mike Doyle (D-Pa.) at a two-hour, closed-door Democratic Caucus meeting.
"“We have negotiated with terrorists,” an angry Doyle said, according to sources in the room. “This small group of terrorists have made it impossible to spend any money.” "
Sarah Palin Calls Vice President Joe Biden's Alleged Terrorist Comment 'Appaling,' 'Vile' "The former Alaska governor and tea party activist added: "To be called a terrorist because of our beliefs from the vice president, it's quite appaling, it's quite vile." "
Joe Biden's Tea Party 'Terrorists' "....It's no surprise then that Locke was at times highly suspicious of government and politicians in general -- both are the most likely threats to our self-preservation. It was Locke who famously said that since the people constitute the authority in a commonwealth and the politicians comprise our servants, a proper understanding of "rebellion" would have to be turned on its head: it is indeed government that perpetually threatens to rebel against the people." Gone Berserk: What’s with Calling the Opposition ‘Terrorists’? "All of this name calling is supposed to remind the public that the tea party and those who agree with them are “extremists.”
But what is “extreme”? You can start by saying that running a $1.4 trillion deficit — recession or no recession — is “extreme.” You can also call it “obscene,” “nauseating,” “incomprehensible,” “irresponsible,” “imprudent,” and throw in a “nutzo” for good measure. And don’t get me started on what you should call running trillion dollar deficits for as far as the eye can see. " Rick Moran
Jonah Goldberg : To Hell with You People "So flashforward to this week. Tom Friedman — who knows a bit about Hezbollah — calls the tea partiers the “Hezbollah faction” of the GOP bent on taking the country on a “suicide mission.” All over the place, conservative Republicans are “hostage takers” and “terrorists,” “terrorists” and “traitors.” They want to “end life as we know it on this planet,” says Nancy Pelosi. They are betraying the Founders, too."
....
"...the same reporters, editors, producers, and politicians are going to insist that blood was spilled because of the right wing’s rhetoric.
"Well, go to Hell. All of you."
Ryan-Rubio, or Rubio-Ryan.
William Kristol "Take fifteen minutes for the sake of your country.
Take one minute to watch Paul Ryan on the floor of the House Thursday (you can also read the text below).
Take fourteen minutes to watch Marco Rubio on the floor of the Senate Saturday (you can also read the text below).
"And tell me why it isn’t even more obvious today than it was at the beginning of the year that the 2012 ticket should be Ryan-Rubio." Or, if Ryan is too much of shrinking violet ... Rubio-Ryan.
Coping With Obama-Induced Irritation Syndrome (OIIS): A Guide for the Perplexed
Belladonna Rogers "Poker players are well-acquainted with “the tell” — the tiniest of changes in behavior, from a slightly deeper inhalation of breath to a nano-second-lasting twitch that reveals a clue about the cards another player has or signals an upcoming bet in the game. Every player has a different tell, and some tells are genuine while others are purposeful and intended to deceive — an under-the-breath curse word uttered to suggest a bad hand when a the player actually has a terrific hand."
....
"Condescension is an attitude whose implicit message is: “I am superior to you.” It’s gratuitously insulting, it’s anti-democratic and it’s wrong. As few people in public life have demonstrated more vividly than Obama, just because you’re highly-credentialed doesn’t mean you’re either smart or well-educated. And even if someone is bright, that isn’t the only important quality in a president."

Well, he IS a liberal and they are pretty much all pompous and condescending.
Government FOR the people
Woodpecker-Saving Daughter Costs Mom $500, Possible Jail Time "Eleven-year-old aspiring veterinarian, Skylar Capo, sprang into action the second she learned that a baby woodpecker in her Dad's backyard was about to be eaten by the family cat."
"9NEWS NOW has tried repeatedly to contact the Department of Fish and Wildlife. So far, they have not returned any of our calls. If convicted, Capo could face up to a year behind bars."
Good; terrorism of this sort will NOT be condoned.
Girl's lemonade stand shut down "Police closed down a lemonade stand in Coralville last week, telling its 4-year-old operator and her dad that she didn't have a permit."
Central Falls falls
Legal Insurrection ...."In a sign of what is to come elsewhere unless we get serious about public sector union contracts, benefits and pensions, Central Falls was forced to use the nuclear option to void the contracts:
Flanders, as part of the bankruptcy filing, voided the police, fire and municipal employee contracts and he said he will impose cuts he proposed July 19 on 141 retired police and firefighter pensions to save $2.5 million. He will also begin requiring that retirees and active employees pay 20 percent of their health-insurance coverage.
Flanders said there will be layoffs, but did not give specifics.
The union bosses and Democratic politicians who fight reform are the cruel ones, because they are pushing their members towards the same fate as the employees of Central Falls.
SO THE TEA PARTY MOVEMENT IS A BUNCH OF HOBBITS?
THIS IS WHAT THE WISE SENATOR McCAIN CALLS US.
HOWEVER, TO THE GENIUS VICE PRESIDENT, THE TEA PARTY MEMBERS ARE TERRORISTS
IN REALITY WE ARE A PEACEFUL GROUP WARNING MIDDLE EARTH OF DISASTER!

UPROAR BUILDS Over Joe Biden’s Tea Party “Terrorist” Remarks "And these are the same people that lecture conservatives about a new tone.
"Disgusting."
Now, wait. Obama and the Dems treat terrorists very well, bowing, negotiating and generally respecting them. Just be glad he didn’t call the Tea Party an ally. If that were the case, we’d know they were to be betrayed and compromised. From the comments to this post.

Better late than never: So Long To Ya, 2010 | The JibJab 2010 Year in Review!
JibJab "This year we've turned Obama and Biden into puppets to sing a duet of regret. After a grueling year of Wikileaks and oil spills, join our Oval Officers in kicking off 2011 by kicking 2010 out the door!"
Remember this earlier tribute to BHO? Sure you do.
We’re Selling Iran, er “Iraq,” WHAT?!
Debbie Schlussel "It’s not exactly a newsflash that the government of Iraq is very tight with the government of Iran, and that Iran-backed Shi’ite Nouri Al-Maliki remains Iraqi Prime Minister. Whether or not Iraq merges with Iran, it is a satellite state of Iran, so it makes no difference. Given that, why the heck are we selling Iraq 36 F16 fighters? And against which country do you think Iraq would use these fighter jets? Not Iran, not Syria, not any country but for maybe, um . . . wait for it . . . ISRAEL! They say they need the jets to halt Iraqi border “transgressions.” Riiight We know what they are for. It’s absurd to sell these jets to Iraq/Iran, but hey, this is the “NEW” Iraq President Bush–not Obama–created. We might as well be selling the jets to Hezbollah, which most of Shi’ite Iraq supports." Emphasis added.
F16 fighters to help Iraq halt borders transgressions, State of Law MP "A Member in State of Law Coalition headed by Iraq Premier Nouri Al Maliki said on Sunday that transgressions on the Iraqi borders cannot be halted but by using F16 fighters and added that the sovereignty and reverence of Iraq in the region will not be complete without these airplanes adding that Al Maliki’s announcement of the willingness to double the number of bought airplanes is great news for all Iraqis."
