Canada had Lone Wolf under surveillance

Blackfive   "The Canadians were watching their "lone wolf" killer before he killed CPL Cirrillo. But nothing came of it, what is the problem? My compatriot at Center for Security Policy Kyle Shideler takes a look at why watching isn't enough.
October 22nd’s terror attack by Michael (aka Abdullah) Zehaf-Bibeau brings into focus an important question for Western counterterrorism efforts, as reports are now indicating that Zehaf-Bibeau, reportedly a Muslim convert, or having recently become religious, had been under Canadian law enforcement scrutiny prior to the attack, over fears that he may head abroad to join the Islamic State. This exact same set of circumstances also existed for Martin Couture Rouleau, who killed one Canadian soldier, and wounded another, in a hit and run terror attack on October 21st. Nor are the Canadians the only ones who have had all the proper intelligence on suspects, and literally surveilled them all the up until the moment they began their deadly assault. A look at the past several years brings to mind multiple examples. The FBI was made aware of Boston Marathon bomber Tamerlan Tsarnaev , and even interviewed him, well before he engaged in his jihad. British MI-5 had likewise been made aware of Michael Adebolajo, when he was arrested by Kenyan authorities allegedly for trying to join the jihad in Somalia. Adebolajo (together with a partner) would go on to engage in the beheading of British Army drummer Lee Rigby, in an attack very nearly copied by Rouleau.

The latest in news and satire on the release of Marine Sgt. Tahmooressi from Mexican jail

If you see this first article anywhere, it is only satire. However it is believable because it is so believable, right down to the use of the personal pronoun "my". TD

"Obama Takes Major Credit For Marine’s Release From Mexican Prison"  " Barack Obama took credit today for Mexico’s release of US Sgt. Andrew Tahmooressi, ignoring charges that his administration was slow to act in securing the former marine’s freedom. The President praised the Mexican government’s decision to drop the case against Tahmooressi, taken into custody last March 31 after accidentally crossing into Tijuana with three weapons in the back of his truck, an event the marine called an innocent mistake. “I thank the individuals assisting my negotiating team in our efforts to bring closure to this case,” said the President, speaking from the Rose Garden. “All Americans should join the Tahmooressi family in celebrating his new found freedom,” he added. Tahmooressi was confined for 214 days "

Rohrabacher: Obama was ‘AWOL’ in efforts to free Tahmooressi  "A group of politicians’ efforts to secure the release of Marine Sgt. Andrew Tahmooressi from a Mexican jail paid off Friday night. California Rep. Dana Rohrabacher says President Obama was “AWOL” throughout the process...

..."The Republican Congressman told The Washington Times on Saturday that he and California Republican Rep. Ed Royce, former New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson, and Arizona Republican Rep. Matt Salmon took it upon themselves to fight for Mr. Tahmooressi when President Obama did not."

...Mr. Royce did say that the president did not seem to put as much effort into securing Mr. Tahmooressi’s release as he had for the exchange of five Taliban prisoners for Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl.
...
"Knowing that officials were listening in, he also detailed legislation that his office is drafting that would cut remittances from Mexican workers in the U.S. to their families back in Mexico, estimating that it would stop billions of dollars from going across the border." ...  Full article.

 Tahmooressi
... "The two carried with them the simple message that, with a bit of motivation, Obama could ensure Tahmooressi’s release with just one phone call." ...

Whom Will Obama Blame If Democrats Lose Senate?

John W. Lillpop   " Although it is way too early to predict damn near anything about the November 4 election, just a few days from now, it is NEVER too early to speculate about whom Barack Obama will blame should the Democrat Party lose majority control of the US Senate.

"Hint: He will most definitely NOT point the finger of blame at his surly, radioactive self!

"Indeed, rather than accept even a smidgen of responsibility for any election day Republican wave, or even a modest right-wing puddle, The One will, should election results reflect widespread dissatisfaction with his agenda and leadership, resurrect his favorite excuses and promulgate the same as sinister evils inherent in a society dominated by white Christian male capitalists for far too long."  Full article.

I wish I could share in all this optimism, but I still remember in 2012 how we all - including Michael Barone, the wizard of election predictions - thought the Democrats were gone. Besides, my default position is one of pessimism.

What Do Gays Really Want From The Church?

Christians should stay in the closet and live in the shadows;  then perhaps liberals will stand up for them.

American Thinker   ... "The question that is most puzzling to me is why did the gay couple choose to do business with that particular wedding chapel? Were there not any other places that they could have gone (such as the Justice of the Peace) to have their wedding performed? Why did the gay couple in Colorado approach the Christian Bakery? Were there no other bakeries in their city or town? It appears that the gay community is targeting Christians and the Christian church. If that is indeed the case, what do they want from the church?
...
... "Yes, I know that many homosexuals and lesbians claim that the Bible is outdated and that Christians are bigots; nonetheless, the first place they run is to a Christian business owner or minister. If they really believed that Christians are bigots, why would they suffer being in their presence?"...

Victor Davis Hanson: Crimes of Exactly What?

Ka-chung, ka-ching
Victor Davis Hanson // PJMedia ... "Racializing crime is a serious business, because it breaks society apart along tribal lines. It is all the more dangerous when elected officials like the president and attorney general are sometimes the worst offenders, given their racialist slurs like “nation of cowards,” “punish our enemies,” and “typical white person” and cheap editorializing in the Trayvon Martin and Michael Brown cases. So on their cue, are we to look at lurid fatal crimes in the news and s
ee them not as matters of individual evil acts, but rather as collective tokens of larger racial hatred? And are we to detect some sort of state culpability that suggests shared guilt for the violence?"
...
... "If we were to embrace the abjectly racist worldview of Eric Holder or Al Sharpton, where would the racialization of crime end? Who would decide which interracial crimes illustrated premeditated racial hatred — or criminal laxity on the part of the state — and deserved national attention? Which adjudicator could or would declare that one interracial incident was idiosyncratic without transcendent significance, but the other typical and thus representative of collective pathology?

"What exactly has this country stooped to, when our officials and public figures traffic in politicizing the end of human lives? We are becoming not just a sick country, but an amoral one as well. What Ferguson wrought will not end well."

If You Strike Bill Maher Down, He Shall Become More Powerful Than You Can Possibly Imagine

If You Strike Bill Maher Down, He Shall Become More Powerful Than You Can Possibly Imagine
The Federalist   "Last week Maher was tapped as the commencement speaker for the University of California-Berkeley’s December graduation. Stung by the news they might be addressed by a man whose views deviate in the slightest from the modern orthodoxy, Berkeley’s Social Justice Warriors sprang into action:" ...

The original idea of a university:
"It seems a quaint notion in the 21st century, but at one time it was thought that a university might assist its students by exposing them to challenging ideas, to be tested in the fires of debate, and thereby to arrive at something approximating an education." ...
...
"A liberal curriculum that shields its students from opposing views serves them poorly indeed. Outside the groves of academe, in the real world of horrible jobs, the best and brightest of Berkeley won’t be protected from such heresy. They’ll have to engage with the Bill Mahers of this world as best they can, and they might as well learn to do so in college, by wallowing in such ideas."

And it all seems to have started with this debate over Islam:

The Atlantic: The Crisis in U.S.-Israel Relations Is Officially Here

U.S.-Israel relations teetered on the brink Wednesday after Obama officials were quoted in the Atlantic calling Benjamin Netanyahu a coward and chicken excrement. Israel is very mad. Susan Rice immediately went on a talk show and blamed the attack on a Mel Gibson video.    -Argus Hamilton

Kerry phones Netanyahu to apologize over 'chickens---' slur
... “ 'That’s a completely normal course of events: Someone tells the truth, and then because the truth isn’t diplomatic, they have to say the y weren’t authorized to speak,” Goldberg said. “The level of frustration [in the White House] is incredibly high, possibly higher than ever, from the Washington side, and people are boiling over.' ”

The Atlantic  The Obama administration's anger is "red-hot" over Israel's settlement policies, and the Netanyahu government openly expresses contempt for Obama's understanding of the Middle East. Profound changes in the relationship may be coming.

... "The fault for this breakdown in relations can be assigned in good part to the junior partner in the relationship, Netanyahu, and in particular, to the behavior of his cabinet. Netanyahu has told several people I’ve spoken to in recent days that he has “written off” the Obama administration, and plans to speak directly to Congress and to the American people should an Iran nuclear deal be reached. For their part, Obama administration officials express, in the words of one official, a “red-hot anger” at Netanyahu for pursuing settlement policies on the West Bank, and building policies in Jerusalem, that they believe have fatally undermined Secretary of State John Kerry’s peace process."...
Political Cartoons by Chip Bok
However...
Mideast Chickens Coming Home to Roost   "The Obama administration is incapable of imagining that it might be wrong."

... "What is striking is that the reality is not just generally the opposite, but almost precisely the opposite. In each of the matters for which they fault Netanyahu, it is the Obama administration, not Netanyahu, that has been unreasonable. Only months into his presidency, Obama demanded that Israel cease building settlements, foreshadowing his absurd determination to withdraw Israel to its pre-1967 borders. Despite three decades of saber-rattling from Iran’s mullahs and obfuscation about its nuclear program from government authorities, the Obama administration has put limitless faith in Iran’s noble intentions. And, of course, it is laughable for this White House to scorn someone else for prizing political self-interest." ...
...
"It is not simply that Obama created the crisis in U.S.-Israel relations. It is that neither he nor his representatives are capable of taking stock and realizing it. That is a much deeper problem than diplomatic infelicities."

Double-Check Your Final Ballot When You Vote!

NRO   "Stories like this are just pouring gasoline on a fire:
The [Maryland Republican] party said Tuesday that it has received complaints from about 50 voters in 12 Maryland counties who say machines at early voting centers “flipped” their Republican votes to count toward Democratic candidates.
Marsha Epstein of Pikesville said she ran into the problem when she went to vote at the Reisterstown Senior Center’s Hannah More campus. She said she tried to vote for Republican Larry Hogan for governor but the machine recorded a vote for Democrat Anthony G. Brown.

Democrat Voter Fraud? That’s Unpossible!

American Glob
"Remember back in 2008 when The Simpsons implied that voter fraud favored Republicans?"

"Good times.
"In real life however, it’s Democrats who benefit from voter fraud.
"Michael Warren of The Weekly Standard…
Video: Votes for Republicans Switched to Democrats in Illinois
Two Illinois voters say their attempts to vote early for Republicans on an electronic voting machine were registered as votes for Democrats—and they say have the video evidence to prove it.
The voters are 18- and 19-year-old Moline residents who asked to remain anonymous. They say they went to their polling station on Monday, October 28, at the Moline Public Library. Both say they were aware of recent news stories that other early voters in their area had experienced difficulties voting on electronic machines. The complaints have been widespread.
The Republican House candidate for the area, Bobby Schilling, claims 20 supporters have called his campaign to say that their attempts to vote for him were switched to his opponent, Democratic congresswoman Cheri Bustos.

Mark Steyn: Marginalia

SteynOnline

... "Mr Maher asserted that Islam is "the only religion that acts like the Mafia" and that Muslims "will f**king kill you if you say the wrong thing, draw the wrong picture, or write the wrong book". As a result, students at Berkeley now wish to get him banned from their campus:
Too many students are marginalized by his remarks and if the University were to bring this individual as a commencement speaker they would not be supporting these historically marginalized communities.
"Are Muslims really all that "marginalized"? Every time I switch on the telly, some Muslim is beheading a woman in Oklahoma or London, running over a soldier in Quebec, shooting a soldier in Ottawa, hatcheting a policeman in New York, kidnapping schoolgirls in Nigeria, decapitating journalists in Syria, or mass-murdering his way across western Iraq to Baghdad. We should all be so "marginalized". Nevertheless, the daily additions to this vast mountain of corpses distress the sensitive types of Berkeley's "marginalized communities" not a whit, only Bill Maher's insensitivity in pointing it out."...

Chicago Activists Unchained, Destroy Black Leadership

Rebel Pundit   "Chicago activists Paul McKinley, Mark Carter, Joseph Watkins and Harold “Noonie” Ward recently went on the record with RebelPundit to deliver a message to black communities across the country.

"That message shed’s light on who they say are the “real oppressors” of their community–Black-liberal democrats."

...
"McKinley explains that black americans are in an “abusive relationship with black leadership…There not pushing a black agenda, they’re not pushing a family agenda, they’re pushing a neo-liberal agenda.”
They always talk about black on black crime, and when you here the words black on black crime, the first thing you think of is a black man is a black man robbing you or breaking in your house, and that is a black on black crime. But lets take it one step further. There’s a black on black crime down in city hall, there’s a black on black crime down in all the state capitols in America, where all the black folks are voting against our interests.”
“ 'We’re always talking about what the Republican’s ain’t done for us, but my life has been hurt by democrats,” Watkins says, “this lot where I stand right now, Ida B. Wells, where public housing residents used to live at, most of the people are homeless living in the street, it’s because of you Mr. President." ... More here.

Hillary: What I really meant was that businesses do create jobs

Legal Insurrection     "Clintonian-level spinning."

"That was then. This is now."

"Via Buzzfeed:
When Hillary Clinton fumbled a line at a rally last Friday — “Don’t let anybody tell you that corporations and businesses create jobs” — the comment caused a minor outrage among political observers. Republicans said she’d been pandering to liberals. Democrats wondered if she’d been trying too hard to channel Elizabeth Warren, the populist senator who also spoke at the event.
On Monday, Clinton went out of her way to correct the comment at a rally for Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney, the Democrat up for reelection in this Hudson Valley district.
Clinton said in her speech that corporations that outsource jobs or move profits overseas should not be granted tax breaks. The clarification made clear that the remark was a botched line — not new messaging from Clinton, who has honed a new stump speech during a series of rallies ahead the election next month.
