Constitutional Interpretation

Kerby Anderson, "Apparently the founders of this country and the framers of the Constitution were
concerned that we would drift from these principles due to incremental changes. James Madison is considered the architect of the Constitution. He warned, “I believe there are more instances of the abridgment of freedom of the people by gradual and silent encroachments of those in power than by violent and sudden usurpation.” " Probe Ministries , Point of View

Federalist No. 78 – The Judiciary Department  "It was this departure from Hamilton’s recipe that left Americans with the legacy of a radical out-of-control judiciary. The branch that should be the weakest of the three now too often attempts to overpower the political branches whenever it wants to do so.
"The good news is that Hamilton and his fellow Federalist Paper authors, James Madison and John Jay, left us with a guide for having a judiciary that is, truly, the “least dangerous branch.” The answer is self-constrained judges with respect for the parameters of the Constitution."

Declaration of Independence for kids Very useful until you come to the final paragraph; there the apologies and liberal caveats appear.  Eye-opening in that you can see how American History is being taught today. Does this article make you appreciate our founders or distrust them?

Snopes: The Price They Paid: Signers of Declaration of Independence

Our enemies rejoice as wounded US lion withdraws from Afghanistan

The Australian   "Many in the US and across the world wonder if Obama's speech - and the broad bipartisan support for it - is yet another sign of America's decline. American power and weakness is often a matter of perception.
"From the Taliban's perspective, the withdrawal is a sign of US weakness and their impending victory.
"Not only the Taliban will see it this way: Iran and Syria's regimes and the malignant units in the Pakistani military and secret service see a weak America that roars but retreats when the going gets tough.
"The short-term benefits of abandoning counter-insurgency may be politically appealing. The long-term costs may be greater than Obama anticipates."
This is not the Democrat Party of Harry Truman any more. (Really? What was your first clue?)

Honoring Independence Day

There is No First Amendment Without a Second Amendment
"In March, the Huffington Post had an article titled “Obama Looking for Ways Around Congress on Gun Policy” by Sam Stein. “Faced with a Congress hostile to even slight restrictions of Second Amendment rights, the Obama administration is exploring potential changes to gun laws that can be secured strictly through executive action, administration officials, say.”"
 Alan Caruba, Warning Signs

The History and Origin of Independence Day  "John Adams, a lawyer, the first Vice President and the Second President of the United States, was one of the members of the Second Continental Congress who signed the Declaration of Independence. He wrote to his wife, "I believe that it will be celebrated by succeeding generations as the great anniversary festival... it ought to be celebrated by pomp and parade, with shows, games, sports, guns, bells, bonfires and illuminations from one end of this continent to the other...""

Historical Events on 4th July  Among the many events listed are these:
1863 - General Lee's army withdraws from Gettysburg
1863 - Vicksburg, Mississippi surrenders to Union forces
1884 - Statue of Liberty presented to US in Paris
1944 - 1,100 US guns fire 4th of July salute at German lines in Normandy

A real honest to goodness heartfelt commitment to America. That would be the best possible way to celebrate July 4th

PJMedia Sues Department of Defense for Climate Conference Info

Pajamas Media What happened to the transparency that candidate Obama promised?
"The volume of fuel used in the flights and how much the baggage weighed, as well as who was on all the flights, is information kept by the Air Force as a matter of course. This request should have taken about 20 minutes with a file cabinet to fill. Additionally, while this information would be classified (also as a matter of course), none of it was national security information. We all know the president went to Copenhagen and came back empty-handed."

Report: US to offer Israel incentives to negotiate

Ma'an News Agency  "US special envoy for the Middle East David Hale is reported to have said that the principles put forward in President Obama's May 19 speech were "the only way to move forward" in the peace process, a secret cable obtained by Maariv said."....
Bosch Fawstin
"In the meeting, Hale is reported to have stated that Israel must agree to President Obama's principles, but will receive something of value in return."
Considered the main source of independent news from Palestine, MNA has become the first choice for online information for many Palestinians, and is also attracting a growing international readership and interest from prominent international news organizations and agencies.

Via Joshuapundit  "At least that's what the 'Palestinian' Ma'an news agency is reporting. So in exchange for unnamed 'incentives', the Israelis are supposed to retreat to indefensible borders and sit down with Hamas!??! If I were the Israelis, I wouldn't trust a single word coming out of Obama's mouth, let alone anything I heard from Mahmoud Abbas."

But then all of Islam would love us and we would never again fear a terrorist attack.

Alternative reasons for climate change?

Bookworm Room    "Amazing video. The narrative is clear, and the images are brilliant:"
Teachers could use this in a classroom  if they dared.

Alan Caruba: The Epicenter of Anti-Semitism

Warning Signs  "The UN’s role in the furtherance of global anti-Semitism is so manifest it is impossible to ignore. Its sponsorship of the Durban conferences, allegedly to oppose racism, has fostered the most egregious anti-Semitism. In September 2009, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad addressed the conference and repeated every tired lie about Judaism and Jews. Out of 192 UN members, only eleven got up and left. The United States and Israel had chosen not to attend. "

Anti-Semitism in the United Nations  "As a result of such bias, the UN has lost credibility. It is no surprise that the Oslo agreements were negotiated outside of, and contained no role for, the UN. Though Israel has been the subject of aggressive wars in 1948, 1967 and 1973 and the victim of countless terrorist attacks, the Security Council and the General Assembly have never once censured its assailants.'  By Morris B. Abram,  Chairman, United Nations Watch

Why Can Academics Study 'Islamophobia' But Not Anti-Semitism?  "In our view, "Islamophobia" hardly deserves any academic attention compared to the much more serious phenomenon of anti-Semitism. According to the German scholar of anti-Semitism Clemens Heni, "Anti-Semitism, with its irrational, implacably genocidal dimension, is totally different [from Islamophobia]….[T]here are some Islamicists who openly advocate the takeover of Europe, the West and the world….[T]he Jews have never had or claimed such a goal.""

Rubio: Obama Using Language Of “Leader Of A Third-World Country”

Obama continues his war on cheap American energy

American Thinker  "Barack Obama's EPA has been on a crusade to kill off efforts to boost America's domestic energy supplies. We are now among the least attractive nations for energy companies seeking to explore and develop energy supplies. The American people are waking up to the man-made disaster that Barack Obama has created."
A god or a flake?  "In less than three years of his administration, this "god" is falling from the sky, and indications are he will hit the ground with a sickening thud. Economic devastation is everywhere on the American landscape; we are teetering on the brink of a depression; he has insulted the British by returning a bust of Winston Churchill; he has alienated our ally Israel by telling them where their borders should be (they don't know, he knows), and has embarrassed himself by muffing a toast to Queen Elizabeth."

But like Maxwell Smart or Inspector Clouseau, Obama continues as if he did nothing wrong.

That press conference: Obama’s ‘Pants on Fire’

Heritage  Obama said:
What I have done — and this is unprecedented, by the way; no administration has done this before — is I’ve said to each agency, ‘Don’t just look at current regulations or don’t just look at future regulations, regulations that we’re proposing. Let’s go backwards and look at regulations that are already on the books and if they don’t make sense, let’s get rid of them.”

...."Eliminating unnecessary regulation is good policy, and with a mountain of new rules imposed in the realm of health care, banking, the Internet and the environment, the President is well advised to stop feeding the regulatory beast. But he would also be well advised not to make bold proclamations that are blatantly false, especially when he bears responsibility for the problems he claims to be solving.?

Politifact on Obama's claim. "Obama claims that his administration is doing something unprecedented -- "no administration has done this before," he said -- by having each agency review existing regulations, with an eye toward eliminating ones that don't make sense. Lots of presidents have done that. We rate Obama's statement Pants On Fire."
Will the press call him on it? What do you think?

Boortz Press Conference   "For those of you who missed my version of Barack Obama’s press conference, you’re in luck! You can listen to it right here [14:24]. Too bad Barack Obama is too busy to listen … he could stand to learn a few things."
