Half of U.S. Muslims Want More Condemnation of Extremism; Wow! This is great news! Er, wait a minute here...half?

Commentary Magazine  "With the recent controversy over Rep. Peter King’s radicalization hearings, it was interesting to see Muslim Americans have the same misgivings about Muslim community leaders  that the congressman does. Nearly half – 48 percent – say Muslim leaders haven’t done enough to speak out against Islamic extremists. And that number is even higher among women and American-born Muslims:"...
....
"And the most prominent Muslim American group, Council on American Muslim Relations, has become so politically toxic in recent years that its influence has really been waning. It seems like there’s a major opening here for a new Muslim American group that’s more invested in (and more vocal about) combating extremism and radicalization, while still fighting to protect Muslim civil rights and political interests."

Two Major Examples of Why We Can’t Trust the Mainstream Media

Ron Radosh , "Two Examples..." Quoting from "American Theocracy Revisited" by Ross Douthat:
If you didn’t spend the Jeremiah Wright controversy searching works of black liberation theology for inflammatory evidence of what Obama “really” believed, you probably shouldn’t obsess over the supposed links between Rick Perry and R. J. Rushdoony, the Christian Reconstructionist guru
"Both subjects of my blog today make it more than clear: we can no longer trust a great deal that appears in the mainstream media."  More on this here.

NYT Shocker: 'MSNBC Is Less a News Provider Than a Carousel of Liberal Opinion'  "When one of the nation's most liberal papers thinks the nation's most liberal cable news network is too biased, the owners of said network should sit up and take notice."

Politico’s ‘Is Rick Perry Dumb?’ Hit Piece Is Just a Taste of What’s Coming in 2012  "Desperate to change the subject from Obama’s default socialism, Jonathan Martin at Politico stepped in and did something that can only be described as morally obscene — he published oppo-research against this private citizen (who eventually came to be known as Joe the Plumber).
"So what does this have to do with Politico’s Rick Perry hit-piece?"

Related: Operation Destroy Joe the Plumber   From 2008; never forget!  " Welcome to Joe the Plumber Derangement Syndrome. If you can’t beat him, smear him. It’s the Obama way."

Verum Serum has this: How the Media Handles “You lie” vs. You Lynch  "Here we are two years later and the shoe is on the other foot. In audio that was brought to wider attention by Naked Emperor News, Rep. Carson accuses Tea Party members of Congress of wanting to see blacks “hanging on a tree.” There’s no need to hear any phantom words this time. The race-baiting is as plain as it could be."

Destroying America's Moral Fiber

"This is occurring as America witnesses the most gay-friendly administration in its history. The appointment by President Obama of Kevin Jennings to a position in the Department of Education is an example. Jennings helped introduce Bill 4530 in Congress that would require the normalization of homosexuality, transgenderism, cross-dressing and other behaviors into the curriculums of schools from coast to coast. California has introduced legislation mandating such views in its schools."
....
"The nation’s economic problems can be fixed and we can ensure a strong defense, but the moral rot that is occurring with every passing day will destroy America from within more surely than any external enemy could hope for. "  Alan Caruba

Flashback Obama in 2010: New Jobs Plan after Vacation

"“Next week, I will be laying out a series of steps that Congress can take immediately to put more money in the pockets of working families and middle-class families, to make it easier for small businesses to hire people, to put construction crews to work rebuilding our nation’s roads and railways and airports, and all the other measures that can help to grow this economy,” Obama said on Monday at a Rose Garden ceremony for new Council of Economic Advisors Chairman Alan Krueger."

Israeli Columnist Shreds “Disaster Called Obama” In Oped

NiceDeb   "He doesn’t say anything, we, in the conservative blogosphere haven’t already said, but this is a pretty decent rant, deserving of your attention:
Barack Obama is solidifying his status as the worst president in American history. The leader who promised us a bright future of peace and fraternity is leading the American empire – and the rest of the world with it – into a dark abyss. Ever since he settled into the Oval Office, Obama has been hopping from one disaster to the next, making every possible mistake, boosting enemies and disregarding allies while ruining everything he touches in the process. To our regret, the heaviest price – for the time being at least – is being paid by residents of the Middle East.

And here: Op-ed: Israel should not be deterred by psychological warfare from White House "Will Prime Minister Netanyahu leverage this unique American support, defying pressure and solidifying Israel's posture of deterrence in the face of an unpredictably violent Middle East, where concessions breed radicalism, terrorism and war? Or, will he succumb to the psychological warfare launched by the White House?"

Ron Paul: 9/11 Attacks Product of U.S. Foreign Policy (Isn't that the position of Code Pink?)

Weekly Standard  " “I don’t see Islam as our enemy,” Paul said. “I see that motivation is occupation and those who hate us and would like to kill us, they are motivated by our invasion of their land, the support of their dictators that they hate.” "

Ron Paul says U.S. intervention motivated 9/11 attacks " “(9/11) was one of the main motivations for getting your attention on why they hate us and want to kill us,” he said. “You could send 20 million people over there and all it would do is make our problems worse.” "

From RealClearPolitics: Ron Paul's Foreign Policy Predicament  "Paul likely will have a difficult time making his case effectively on international and military affairs to many of the voters who might otherwise be inclined to support him on the home front.
""I think what brought the tea party together were domestic economic issues -- the health care bill, the tax issue," Curtis said. "When it comes to foreign policy, the opinions become more diverse. Some take a very narrow view and would like to see the U.S. take a more isolationist view when it comes to foreign policy, whereas others feel strongly about providing for the common defense and preventing future terrorist attacks.""

From The Foreign Policy Initiative   "Continuing to include Paul and his mob of vocal supporters at Republican debates makes the GOP look unserious. It would be as if Bernie Sanders were allowed to grace the stage at Democratic-party events and promote his socialist vision for America to a cheering crowd. "
"Compounding the problem, some in the Tea Party movement now seem to be following Paul’s recipe for American decline".....

Ron Paul on Israel  "...he believes that we should NEVER try to use our influence to stop Israel from defending herself. Ron Paul refused to vote to condemn Israel during the 2006 war with Lebanon. And he will never try to pressure Israel into accepting a “land for peace” compromise before the Israelis themselves decide."

NO SURPRISE HERE - OBAMA SNUBS MILITARY AGAIN

Obama Snubs VFW: First Time In Group’s History White House Not Sending Senior Official To Veterans Convention…  The Fox article via Weasel Zippers
“It is an insult of the highest magnitude that for the first time in the history of the VFW, the White House has apparently decided that this great and iconic organization of combat veterans and all of its members are not worthy of its notice by not at least offering a first-tier speaker from the administration.”
Blackfive has this:  ...."All of this hubub may just be window dressing, if you recall the snafu of the VFW PAC in the runup to the 2010 electoral season. By this, I mean that most of those addressing the VFW this convention are Republican, while ALL, or nearly all, of the speakers addressing the Legion, are Democrats. This is certainly an interesting situation."

Rick Moran: Administration's Tin Ear  "I find it very revealing that the administration considers the UN Ambassador a "first tier" speaker. And the other speakers offered by Obama are minor functionaries, perhaps worthy of speaking at a Jaycee's meeting or a Chamber of Commerce breakfast but not the national convention of combat veterans.
"One more group needlessly insulted by this arrogant, tone deaf administration."

Drawing the Wrong Lessons from the British Riots — Again

Liberal pundits hold rioters harmless by falsely applying the "racism" argument to excuse their behavior.
"Putting 16,000 police into the streets of Britain finally brought an end to the current spate of riots. But rest assured, when Britain’s next riot commission report is issued, there will be a call for more social programs of the type that is bringing all of Europe to the edge of economic implosion. Indeed, former Prime Minister Tony Blair, on August 22, 2011, called for massive social intervention to respond to the conditions that “caused” the riots. We’ve heard it all before."

Cheney's on a roll

Perhaps Dick Cheney is looking at his health issues and wants to make sure he has not left anything undone in his life. It seems what drives him now is vindication of the Bush Administration and the United States before the American People. And most probably anger at the fecklessness of Democrats while this country has been at war.  TD

Cheney Slams McCain  "Over at Politico, Jonathan Martin has written a “political junkie’s guide” to Dick Cheney’s memoir, In My Time. During the 2008 presidential race, Martin notes, the veep was unimpressed with Sen. John McCain’s campaign:"

POLITICO's guide to Cheney's book  "He shares little about the 2004 re-election, but does recall Democratic vice-presidential nominee John Edwards  bringing up Mary Cheney’s sexuality at their lone debate.
“I was furious with his response,” Cheney writes. What gave him the right to make pronouncements about my family? But you never want to let the other guy get under your skin, so I kept my anger in check.”
"After Democratic presidential nominee John Kerry brought up Mary Cheney at a debate a week later, Cheney writes: “Now it was obvious that there was a concerted effort by the Kerry-Edwards campaign to remind viewers that my daughter Mary was gay, to bring her into the debate and into the campaign.”"

Newsweek Reporter's Weird Complaint: Cheney Memoir Doesn't 'Look Forward'   I had that same problem with The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich; it just looked back at old stuff. TD.

Prepare for the Obama speech

Victor Davis Hanson:  The Old ‘Not Enough’ Excuse   "As we witness the financial insolvency of blue-state America, the monetary meltdown in southern Europe, and the criminality breaking out among some members of the Western underclass, logic suggests that massive state deficits not only did not bring a promised utopia, but ensured chaos.
"But for those who are invested materially and psychologically in the religion of never-ending government borrowing and spending, there is always the true believers’ excuse of “not quite enough.”"

Obama’s Next Economic Advisor is a Labor Economist and Proponent of Big Government Solutions

Obama to nominate Alan Krueger to chair Council of Economic Advisors  "Krueger, a labor economist and member of Princeton’s faculty, served as assistant Treasury secretary for economic policy during the first two years of the Obama administration. He favors “a future consumption tax to fix today’s economy,” as well as a higher minimum wage, which his research purports to demonstrate does not depress employment. He was also one of the minds behind the Cash for Clunkers program."

Labor Economist to Fill Key Post . "If confirmed by the Senate, Mr. Krueger, a labor economist, is likely to provide a voice inside the administration for more-aggressive government action to bring down unemployment and, particularly, to address long-term joblessness."

You call this 'regulatory reform'?

James W. Lucas    "Another way to measure the gross impact of federal regulation is to count the pages in the official publication of all federal regulations, the Federal Register. This is a bit crude as a measure, because a very long regulation may be fairly innocuous whereas a short one could have a massive cost imprint, but it is a decent rough gauge of the extent of the totality of federal regulation. The Federal Register for 2010 is over 81,000 pages long, a 19% increase in one year. We do not have a page count on the regulations to be repealed, perhaps because many of the revisions have yet to actually go into effect, but it is safe to assume that they will come nowhere near to matching the voluminous regulations still to be issued under the new Obamacare and Dodd-Frank laws. And there are also the numerous ongoing rule-makings by President Obama's hyperactive regulators at the EPA, NLRB, and the rest of the seemingly endless alphabet soup of federal regulatory bodies."
http://townhall.com/political-cartoons/brianfarrington
"I agree. And it is on the common ground of facts that we can declare–in a calm, specific, reasonable, rational and empirical manner–Obama to be an utter failure."
