Federalist Co-Founder Torches NYC Council Speaker's Push to Remove Thomas Jefferson Statue with a History Lesson

Matt Vespa
So, when do we get to firebomb NYC? These are the Left’s rules—arbitrary, historically illiterate, and peddled by morons.

"Well, you knew this was coming. No, it already has given that some clowns in Portland destroyed a statue to Thomas Jefferson, one of our Founding Fathers. He also happens to be one of our greatest presidents, but that’s beside the point, I guess. He’s the principal author of the Declaration of Independence, Founding Father, and former president, and we’re not going to have statues of this man. These left-wingers are funny. Truly—they’re funny except we can no longer afford to laugh at their games. This cancerous horde, the most insane being the ‘woke’ acolytes who have now graduated college, are extending the reach of this unruly mob. They want to destroy our history, re-writing it through some paradigm of political correctness. It’s an Americanized version of Mao’s Cultural Revolution. It’s scary. And the George Floyd riots have led to yet another wave of this statue nonsense, which doesn’t stop with Confederate monuments. You all know this".
. . .
"Is this done to placate the left-wing mob or the incessant and insufferable whining of the American liberal that is never happy with America, always looking for ways to trash it, and amped to change anything, no matter how insignificant, and make it seem like it’s the issue of our day? It’s a statue. Quit sniffing glue. And again, with no grasp of history, the city’s left-wing loons have taken this position not knowing that New York City was named after a slave trader, one of the biggest of all-time actually, James, the Duke of York. Long story short, he was king for a bit but was deposed in the Glorious Revolution as his Catholic roots freaked out Protestant England. His religion really didn’t cause much of an issue until his son, James Francis Edward, was born. Sorry, the point is that he and his brother, Charles II, were the key persons in the Royal African Company which shipped over 200,000 slaved to the Americas. Charles II captured New Amsterdam in 1664 and renamed it, New York, after James. So, the Big Apple is named after a horrible slave trader. Maybe it’s time to tear it all down. The Federalist’s Sean Davis dropped this history lesson. So, when do we get to firebomb NYC? These are the Left’s rules—arbitrary, historically illiterate, and peddled by morons."

America's treasured history on the hands of this millennial generatiom

Only after it is too late will they cry, "What have we done?"

Statue of Francis Scott Key Toppled in San Francisco's Golden Gate Park
"Protesters toppled the statue of Francis Scott Key in San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park on Friday, June 19, as the trend to remove historical figures who engaged in racist practices in their lifetimes continues across the country. Statues for Key and Junipero Serra, a Catholic missionary, were dismantled by protesters in the park on Friday evening, according to reports. This video captures the monument to Key, best known for writing the lyrics for the American national anthem The Star Spangled Banner and reported to have owned slaves, being pulled down by protesters. Calls have been made for other statues of Serra in California to be removed, on the grounds that he “committed atrocities against Native Americans in the 18th century,” according to local media. CNN 'should be ashamed' for putting Greta Thunberg on a COVID panel

No problem; it won't affect CNN's credibility one bit. Not even in Australia.

Sky News.com/ Australia   "CNN's credibility has been shaken by its decision to include climate change activist Greta Thunberg on coronavirus Town Hall special, according to Sky News contributor Gemma Tognini. CNN has received considerable backlash for its decision to include the 17-year-old activist in its panel, which will air on Thursday, US time. Ms Tognini told Sky News it's "shameful" to include the teenager on the panel. Shame on CNN, shame on the producer of that program, for thinking it's appropriate to have a 17-year-old climate activist on a panel about this global pandemic," she said."

Leaving Richmond Because of Racism

Charlemagne Institute

Who in this crowd is there of their own convictions and not someone else's?
"For most of his life, my friend John, 60, has lived near Richmond, Virginia. Much of that time his home was about 75 yards from the city limits, but for the last few years he has rented an apartment in Henrico County, still less than two miles from the city. He attended a private school in Richmond, used its doctors and hospitals, frequented its restaurants and bars, and attended various public events there.
"And now he’s done.
“ 'I’ve given money to Richmond all my life,” he said to me over the phone. “And I’m finished.' ” . . .
. . .
"For years, John has watched his beloved city fall apart under its local and state government. “Richmond is broke,” he says. “The streets and public schools are a disgrace. There are entire neighborhoods where I can’t walk safely in broad daylight.”
"What capped off John’s disgust with the place of his birth were the recent riots and the ongoing destruction of statues on Monument Avenue.
“ 'I’m not paying money to anyone who abuses what I think America should be.”
"John is also carrying his one-man rebellion beyond Virginia’s capitol city. He vows to see no more movies starring actors who have bad-mouthed the country, he’s canceling his T-Mobile account because of its campaign against Fox’s Tucker Carlson, and he gave up watching the basketball games played by the University of Virginia, his alma mater, when its 2019 championship team refused an invitation to the White House.
“ 'I don’t encourage people to visit Richmond anymore,” John says. “Some people come for the beer and breweries, but you can get beer anywhere. Some come to tour the Civil War museums and Monument Avenue, but setting foot in those places now qualifies you as a racist.' ” . . .

White House says CNN refuses to give them airtime to refute scandalous claims detailed on Bolton’s book

Suppose CNN succeeds in deposing President Trump; in future administrations how will their reportage ever be trusted? If one really will want to know what is happening in the world, why go to CNN or MSNBC?

BPR  "More and more, CNN seems to be doing away with any pretense that it’s an actual news outlet when it comes to covering President Donald Trump.
"Casual viewers may be excused if they believe the network dedicates 24/7 coverage to destroying the Trump presidency, as it is all bad news all the time when it comes to the
Mike Harris Artwork
nations’ 45th president.

"After giving disgruntled former national security adviser John Bolton’s new book red carpet treatment, a book that features enough scandalous allegations against Trump to ensure brisk sales — one such claim being that he asked China to help him with the 2020 election — CNN apparently had little interest in offering the administration an opportunity to refute the claims.
"That’s according to a spokesman who spoke the Washington Free Beacon Thursday afternoon, insisting that CNN is refusing to give the White House airtime.
"The network reportedly told the White House it is “focused on other breaking news.”
"It’s not clear which officials were being offered to CNN to defend the president or to name the shows that declined their requests, the Free Beacon reported. CNN did not respond to their request for comment.
"More from the Free Beacon on CNN’s Thursday coverage:" . . .

Trump's Tulsa Rally — This Is The Speech The President Needs To Give

Cal Thomas
The president should not just use the Tulsa speech to fire up his base. He should propose something substantive that might provide, if not a solution to racial tensions, then at least begin to solve the underlying problem, something Democrats have only talked about for 50 years.
"President Trump on Tuesday unveiled a plan to make reforms in police departments and acknowledged for the first time the existence of “systemic racism.” He also promised to meet with some African American families whose relatives have been killed by police officers.
"That is one step toward healing our deep racial divisions.
The next opportunity comes Saturday as the president is scheduled to break his rally “fast” in Tulsa. The Trump campaign claims they have received 800,000 ticket requests. Though not all will get into the 20,000-seat venue, the Trump re-election effort will have mined additional names for its digital campaign.
"The president should not just use the speech to fire up his base. He should propose something substantive that might provide, if not a solution to racial tensions, then at least begin to solve the underlying problem, something Democrats have only talked about for 50 years.
"Here are my suggestions for what the president might say:
"There is only one race — the human race. We are one seamless coat of many colors, one “body” with many parts, each with an important function that contributes to the whole. We call ourselves the UNITED States of America for a reason. No other country exemplifies such unity. Though we have our disagreements and even sometimes divisions, our oneness is our greatest strength."There is no “pure” or “master” race. No race is superior to another. To hate someone because of the color of their skin is to hate one’s self because we all share the same origin story, the same human DNA. This is all part of God’s doing in His ultimate creative and most beautiful work – humanity. We are created in His image." "Historically, many of our churches have not always been on the right side when it comes to race. Many churches oppose civil rights for African Americans and wrongly quote Scripture to justify their positions. As Abraham Lincoln said during our most divisive war: “Both read the same Bible and pray to the same God; and each invokes His aid against the other. … The prayers of both could not be answered; that of neither has been answered fully. The Almighty has His own purposes.”"I am today proposing a new alliance between white evangelical churches and their African-American brethren. At bottom, racism and the many horrors that have flowed from it are matters of the heart. Who better to address heart matters than our evangelical churches, which preach a gospel of redemption and changed lives?" . . .

As America falls apart, who will defend her?

God bless America; Land that I love; Stand beside her, And guide her Through the night with the light from above. Irving Berlin

Statues Are Part of History
It seems that Italians have more common sense than some Americans.  The removal of hundreds of Civil War monuments, including the recent removal of a statue of Jefferson Davis and an attempt to remove the imposing image of Robert E. Lee in Richmond, are part of a similar attempt to suppress an aspect of our history that some now see as offensive.
I'm sure this song will be verboten, along with all our historical monuments: The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down

De Blasio Announces NY Commission to “Reevaluate Historical Narratives” and Look at Removing Thomas Jefferson Statue in City Hall

David Limbaugh: The Silent Majority can be silent no more  . . . "It was surreal that some of their leading presidential candidates openly supported the abolition of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. But this widespread move to defund the police takes the insanity to French Revolution-crazy levels.
"How can parents not fear for their kids' future? How can an entire political party give itself over to a lawless mob? How can it condone the systematic suppression of political speech by Hollywood, the corporate left and social media giants?
"Do rank-and-file liberals want to live in a country whose culture destroys people who won't toe the leftist line?
"Ironically, it will only be a matter of time before the mob they legitimized will turn on them, as surely as the French revolutionaries turned on their mastermind Maximilien Robespierre."
. . .
"Too many on the right also mistakenly believe that this Democratic frenzy and leftist unrest is all based primarily on their contempt for President Donald Trump. He has made them crazy, and they'll do anything to get rid of him. Then everything will return to normal.
"Yes, he makes them crazier, more desperate and more unreasonable -- mainly because he's fighting them hammer and tongs -- but he didn't make them leftists, and leftists don't need any prompting to unleash their hell on America. It stands for everything they hate.
"With or without Trump, their goals remain the same. But without Trump, their chances of finally undoing America immeasurably increase."
"I began this column saying we can't afford to be discouraged. We can't. But that doesn't mean we can afford to be blind to the gravity of the threats we face." . . .

You Can’t Learn From a History That’s Been Deleted  "The “memory hole” is one of the most haunting images in George Orwell’s dystopian novel Nineteen Eighty-Four. Tucker Carlson: There's a reason racial tension is rising in America - it's by design

The sponsors he has lost must be afraid of the mob and their torches. I'm sure mobs in our history had those who were repulsed by what they saw but feared the consequences of speaking out. Much I'm sure like some in the Southern lynch mobs or the witnesses to
Nazi Kristallnacht. Why must civilized people live in fear of those without an original thought in their heads? TD

Tucker Carlson
Is anyone in power defending absolute equality under the law? If there was ever a time to remind America that we all have equal value under God, that time is right now. But no. No one in charge is saying that. Our leaders are cowards when we need them to be brave. They are muddled when we need them to think clearly. It's possible they no longer even believe in equality.
. . . "But Democrats know better than that; they don't lie to themselves. They understand there is a revolution in progress. The death of George Floyd may have sparked widespread outrage -- sincere outrage -- and they may share that outrage. But they also know that what is happening now has very little to do with George Floyd or people like him. Like all revolutions, the point is to destroy the current system and replace it with something new.
"Or replace it with what? That's the question the rest of us should be asking right now. We should know what's coming.
"We know what we have now. Our current system has been in place for hundreds of years. It's based on a very simple idea: All people are created by God with equal moral value. Period. Every one of them." . . .
. . . In California, Democrats are moving to repeal Proposition 209. Proposition 209 explicitly bans racial discrimination in hiring and education. In other words, Democrats in California are now fighting for discrimination. This is not considered strange in 2020. No one even mentions it." . . .

Tucker has become a national treasure; here he asks:
Why was stepmother of cop charged in Rayshard Brooks shooting fired from her job?  . . . "The following day, Equity Prime Mortgage took another pass at it on Twitter. This latest tweet made no mention of Rolfe’s social media posts, though it does hint at her “personal views.” Instead it read:
As an employer, it is imperative to maintain a safe environment for all employees. Melissa Rolfe’s termination was a direct result of her actions in the workplace and violation of company policy. While working with Melissa as she transitioned to a leave of absence granted by our organization, we discovered she violated company policy and created an uncomfortable working environment for many of our employees. As an HR director, she ultimately lost the confidence of her peers, leadership, and many employees who no longer felt comfortable engaging with her. We value diversity of thought and respect Melissa’s personal views and the views of all employees; however, when those create a hostile working environment, we must make difficult decisions to part ways.

Let’s rename everything!

Carol Brown "It’s hard to keep up with the pace of insanity and destruction that’s sweeping across our nation. (Perhaps even harder to grasp is the fact that no one is doing anything to stop it.)
"Part of the new world order includes the breathless rush to rename, or remove, just about everything because RACISM!, which has become code for the fundamental transformation of America by any means necessary.
"Two recent victims of the renaming frenzy include ice cream and skin cream (of no relation to each other beyond: RACISM!!!).
"Dreyer’s will be renaming “Eskimo Pies” because the company (on bended knee?) has determined it’s offensive." . . .

. . . "Despite this, there must be the appearance of striving for an absolute purity of heart and mind. Toward that end, Black Lives Matter will need to make a few minor adjustments to their mission and disavow their commitment to Boycott, Divest, Sanction (BDS) which is blatantly anti-Semitic.
"Oh, wait. Jew hatred is ok. Sorry, I got off track." . . .

America's rush for the exits from freedom in an absolute panic.

Most Alaskans continue to accept the name “Eskimo,” particularly because “Inuit” refers only to the Inupiat of northern Alaska, the Inuit of Canada, and the Kalaallit of Greenland, and it is not a word in the Yupik languages of Alaska and Siberia.
Johnson & Johnson Will Stop Selling ‘Whitening Cream’ Over Concerns Of Racism…
What if facelifts are considered racist, Nancy?

Pelosi Orders Four Portraits of Former Democratic Speakers Removed From U.S. Capitol

So another minority becomes more invisible. I will hazard the wild guess that not a single Eskimo ever complained about Eskimo Pie. . . . "It is all idiotic pandering and virtue signaling driven by corporate suits in the marketing departments of conglomerates who couldn’t possibly care less about native peoples who live above the Arctic Circle, but care a great deal about their standing with fellow liberals. I deleted an adjective before that last noun." . . .

Howard Zinn Update: High School History Teacher Throws Out Textbooks For Radical Marxist ‘History’ Book

"The race riots, destruction of historical monuments, the Pulitzer Prize winning 1619 Project, and the damaging notion of collective American guilt and specifically, white guilt, are all products of the Zinn narrative."
spectator.org
The Federalist
Howard Zinn’s radical revisionist ‘history’ book, 'A People’s History' of The United States, is the new normal in the American education system.

"A young high school history teacher, named Annie, posted a TikTok video raving about Howard Zinn’s “A People’s History of the United States,” which she explains will be her new classroom textbook.
"Howard Zinn’s 1980 left-wing revisionist history book, “A People’s History of the United States,” is a Marxist’s take on American history. This class warfare, victim narrative, famously praised by Matt Damon in his 1997 academy award winning movie, Good Will Hunting, has sold more than two million copies and gone through five editions. In short, the book is a Marxist narrative whereby American history is viewed exclusively through the prism of race and class.
"In her TikTok video, posted in the wake of the George Floyd riots, Annie explains she will no longer be using official textbooks in her classroom because they “omit a lot of the truth from our past.” Ironically, “A People’s History” is replete with factual omission to twist history in order to fit a narrative of American shame. For example, according to “A People’s History,” the American Revolution was waged in order to defeat “potential rebellions and create a consensus of popular support for the rule of a new, privileged leadership”. Civil War soldiers fighting to preserve the Union were deceived by “an aura of moral crusade” against slavery which “worked effectively to dim class resentments against the rich and powerful, and turn much of the anger against ‘the enemy.'”
"Interestingly, Howard Zinn made no bones about his motivation and goals for writing “A People’s History.” Reputable historians attempt to teach history without being selective and misleading. Zinn on the other hand, openly admitted that he became a historian in order to inspire a social revolution, “I came to history with a very sort of modest objective, I wanted to change the world.' ” . . .
It will take a massive effort on the part of honest historians to undo the damage done by Howard Zinn and restore the truth about America’s founding, shortcomings and proud history as the architects of freedom and self-government. Eva Duffy

UPDATE: How Howard Zinn’s Anti-American Textbook Inspired The Antifa Bombing Attempt  . . . "Zinn’s ‘History’ Text Preys on the Naïve and Uninformed.
"By any reasonable definition, Zinn’s book does not deserve to have “history” in the title. Zinn’s book is filled with lies, omissions, distortions of evidence, logical fallacies, and plagiarism from dubious sources. In my forthcoming book, “Debunking Howard Zinn,” I detail all of these critical problems. I also describe Zinn’s life, from budding teenage communist to Pied Piper professor at Spelman College and Boston University, and globe-trotting anti-American agitator." . . .
“A People’s History” places a wildly disproportionate amount of focus on the past sins of the United States. The work teaches students to view history through the lens of toxic identity politics. The enslavement of blacks and women, exploitation and murder of workers and Indians, imprisonment of political dissidents, and America’s World War II treatment of Japanese-born Americans all get prime billing. For Zinn, America is irredeemable and merits comparisons to Nazi Germany.

Today is the day to talk about the blacks who didn’t riot

We have to get the Sharptons and Waters' out of our minds. TD

Bookworm
The media keeps the focus on blacks whom leftists have taught to hate. In America, though, there are probably more blacks who don’t hate. Here are 3 of them.

"I went to the gun store again today, which is always a pleasant way to pass time. (By the way, thanks to all of you for your helpful ideas about which guns to buy.) Having handled about a dozen semi-automatics and test-fired the top three candidates, I think I’m going to get a Ruger because it fits my hands. I also stocked up on ammo. Better to have it when you don’t need it, than to need it an not have it.
"As always, I find gun stores and ranges delightful places to be. The employees are friendly and helpful — and so are the other shoppers. If you say “Hi, how’s your day?” to a gun store shopper, they’ll stop and answer and you’ll have a nice conversation. Which gets me to my first story about the blacks who didn’t riot.
"Regarding racism, my friend and I were standing in line outside the store (stores here are open but they have to limit the number of customers), when a black man came to stand in line behind us. I immediately said hello to him and asked him how his day was going. He responded that his day was great and asked us how ours was going. A little civil chit-chat followed.
"Then, bless him, this young man went out of his way to assure us that he was not someone who hated us because of our skin color. He didn’t say so directly. Instead, he told us that it’s great to have guns and that people here have them because “We’re all in this together.” Those stupid rioters, he said, they burned a car and made some mess, but they’re not who we are.
"It was an utterly endearing thing to do, and further conversation revealed that he was as nice as his first instincts showed him to be. But his kind gesture also made us aware of how much the world has changed. Once upon a time, nice white people hastened to assure black people not to worry. Now it’s the other way around. I want to us all, black, white, Hispanic, Asian, blue, green, purple, to live in a world in which such assurances are unnecessary, but I am so grateful to those who realize we’re not in that world yet and who make the effort to ensure that their own little patch of earth is a friendly place." . . .
