End of an Error: Trump Hater Jim Acosta Reportedly Out at CNN

 Bonchie; RedState

"As for what this means for CNN, I'm not sure it means much. Acosta is low-hanging fruit. Until the network is willing to rock the boat with its primetime anchors, the financial pain will continue, and given they rehired Brian Stelter last year, I'm not sure they have any desire to do so."

Colbert loved him but hated Trump more

"It's the end of an error at CNN, with Jim Acosta reportedly preparing to leave the cable news network after being demoted to the after-midnight block. The low-rated left-wing "journalist," who previously anchored a mid-morning show, has long presented himself as a "resistance" figure, expressing some of the most blatant left-wing bias on television.

"Ever the self-absorbed flack, Acosta was apparently unwilling to suffer the humiliation of moving to one of the least-watched time slots.

The anchor, I'm told, signaled to associates in private conversations over the weekend that he intends to depart the network after its chief executive, Mark Thompson, booted him from the morning programming lineup — a move that conspicuously coincided with Donald Trump's return to power.

CNN brass, as we first reported earlier this month, decided to strip Acosta of his 10am show, which he has anchored to great ratings success over the last 11 months, at times even seeing higher viewership than programs in the channel's prime time bloc. Acosta was instead offered the less-than-desirable option of anchoring a show from midnight until 2am ET.

"I've lost track of how many articles I've written about Acosta over the years, but suffice it to say, I've never been a fan. As CNN's White House correspondent during the first Donald Trump administration, he was a grandstanding hack who went so far as to scuffle with a female staffer over a microphone. Acosta became the embodiment of everything wrong with the legacy media, and he continued that trend after moving into the studio full-time. " . . .

What was the Real Problem with Pete Hegseth?

 Christopher Chantrill

All the Democrats and three RINO senators voted against Pete Hegseth because of NATO. And it’s much easier to concoct sexual allegations than have an open debate about the relevance of NATO in the 21st century.

"To me, whenever all the Democrats line up united on an issue, as the Democratic Party senators did for the vote on the nomination of Pete Hegseth for Secretary of Defense, I always have a question. And that’s different from the question of why a guy like Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY) would vote with the Democrats.

"Just what was their problem with Secretary Hegseth? I mean, it’s not as if he’s going to blow up the Department of Defense and replace Boeing and Lockheed with a brilliant Elon Musk startup and compromise all the senators’ contributions from defense contractors. Seriously: How long do you think it would take Elon Musk to produce a world-beating fighter jet from a standing start? Okay, okay, I know. Elon wouldn’t do that. He would repurpose his Starlink satellites to confuse the radar of the enemy’s planes so that they would shoot each other down.

"So what was the problem?

"I got the sexual allegations against nominee Clarence Thomas back in 1991. Supreme Court justices get to move the needle, and I am sure that if our Democratic friends knew what Thomas would become in his more than 30 years on the court, they would have found a better accuser than Anita Hill. Sexual allegations are much simpler than an open discussion of the issues.

"And I got the sexual allegations against nominee Brett Kavanaugh in 2018. Not another conservative on the Supreme Court! Inconceivable! Sexual allegations are much simpler than an open discussion of the issues.

"So, what was the problem with Hegseth?

"Here are two ideas. First, the Democrats are the Inner Party. When you are the Inner Party, you get to flood the zone with sexual allegations, and don’t you forget it. Second, it is much easier to blacken a candidate with sexual allegations than with a campaign based on the issues. "However, experts agree that a Nazi salute beats a sexual allegation hands down."...

Doomsday alert....again!

 Jack Hellner

"What do all of these predictions have in common? They are all pulled out of thin air. They are worthless. They are based on as much science as all of the government’s dictatorial edicts on COVID." . . .

"On Monday, my local paper treated the reader to a long article warning us of doomsday. This report has been issued for 79 years and so far, we are OK—but while I anxiously await this brilliant report from so-called scientific experts, I tracked the same information down at the Daily Mail:

Is humanity doomed? Doomsday Clock will be updated TOMORROW to determine our fate - so, will it tick closer to midnight?

Tomorrow, humanity will find out if we’re closer to total self-destruction when the Doomsday Clock is updated.

The symbolic clock, which edges closer to midnight to reflect human-made global catastrophes, will be revealed during a livestream on Tuesday (January 28).

Since 2023, it has been set at 90 seconds to midnight, but this year scientists say it could move forward to reflect the troubling global outlook.

The Russia-Ukraine war, Israel’s ongoing conflicts in the Middle East, and the threat of nuclear war and climate change all mean the clock could tick forwards for the first time in two years.

"The earth has been around for billions of years, and has had many wars and many cooling and warming periods (the latter clearly not caused by humans), but we are told that now we are near the end. In the first report in 1947, they said we were at seven minutes until midnight on the doomsday clock. By 1991, it had somehow improved to 17 minutes, the longest it has ever been. But now, for the last few years we have been at 90 seconds until midnight." . . .

It’s the end of the world. Again. And again. Over 50 years of ‘doom and gloom.’   "If you’re feeling a bit of deja vu over recent predictions of worldwide calamities due to environmental changes, you’re right.

"According to a lengthy report compiled by the Competitive Enterprise Institute, none of the predicted global disasters due to climate change have happened yet.

“ 'Modern doomsayers have been predicting climate and environmental disaster since the 1960s. They continue to do so today,” the institute writes in its report. “None of the apocalyptic predictions with due dates as of today have come true.”

"To bolster its argument, the institute compiled a lengthy list of clippings featuring people — many of them prominent scientists, lawmakers and entertainers — making dire predictions that never panned out.

Is the Obama Divorce Rumor Just a Rumor?

TD has purposely not posted anything on the Obama marriage rumors because it seemed like gossip - low hanging fruit as it were - something for the tabloids. But now a respected source as this below has weighed in and can be worth consideration. The Tunnel Dweller

 The American Spectator

“[V]ery serious journalists [are] telling me that they’re hearing that the Obama divorce rumors are true.”  Ellie Gardey Holmes

"The rumor that Barack and Michelle Obama are headed toward a divorce has begun to spread in recent weeks. Speculation picked up after Michelle Obama skipped out on attending Jimmy Carter’s funeral and became even more pronounced when the Obamas announced that Barack would attend President Donald Trump’s inauguration while Michelle would not.

"Today, that chatter got louder when former View co-host Meghan McCain and Puck senior political correspondent Tara Palmeri gave legitimacy to the rumor on McCain’s podcast, Citizen McCain With Meghan McCain.

" 'Fast and furious loud, I have been hearing this rumor that the Obamas are getting a divorce by reputable people,” said McCain. “I’m not talking about TMZ. I’m not talking about Perez Hilton — although I love him, he’s my friend. I’m talking about like very serious journalists telling me that they’re hearing that the Obama divorce rumors are true.”

"When McCain asked Palmeri if she had heard that as well, she responded: “Oh yeah! I mean I’ve certainly heard it for a while, even before Michelle said she wasn’t coming to the inauguration…. But yeah, we’ve heard that for a long time. Like I’ve just heard that they live separate lives.” She seconded McCain’s assertion that the rumor wasn’t coming just from tabloids: “[A] lot of the sources that I like am hearing this through, they’re very political. Like this isn’t like TMZ crap that’s telling me about it.”

"Palmeri is extremely well connected, as, prior to joining Puck, she was chief national correspondent for Politico and White House correspondent for ABC News. That lends greater weight to the idea that the divorce rumors are percolating in informed political circles rather than just in tabloids.

"Palmeri is hardly alone in concluding that the Obamas live separate lives. Some sources have suggested that Michelle is known to primarily reside at the couple’s home in Martha’s Vineyard, while Barack’s home base is D.C.’s Kalorama neighborhood. The couple has not been spotted together since Dec. 15, when they got dinner with their daughters

. Prior to that, they had last been spotted out together in August at the Democratic National Convention. During the presidential campaign, both campaigned for Kamala Harris, but they never did so together (apart from their appearance at the DNC).

"Perhaps in an effort to allay the divorce rumors, Barack posted a birthday tribute to his wife on Jan. 17. “Happy birthday to the love of my life,” he said, adding, “You fill every room with warmth, wisdom, humor, and grace – and you look good doing it.”

"McCain noted that Barack’s post featured an objectively bad photo of Michelle. “For me, it didn’t help the rumors,” said McCain, “and like why are you putting this like shi**y picture of your wife up?” Palmeri meanwhile speculated that the photo could possibly be akin to the happy-couple photos celebrities post prior to announcing breakups to create the impression that the separation was amicable." . . .

Border Czar Tom Homan Defends Crackdown Amid Selena Gomez’s Emotional Immigration Video: ‘No Apologies’

RTM

Social media users echoed Morgan’s sentiment, accusing Gomez—whose net worth is reportedly $1.3 billion—of offering performative empathy rather than taking meaningful action and ignoring more important issues.

"Hollywood actress and pop star Selena Gomez faced sharp criticism on Monday after posting a tearful Instagram video criticizing President Donald Trump’s immigration policies.

"Her emotional response to the deportation of illegal immigrants sparked swift backlash, with border czar Tom Homan stepping in to defend the administration’s actions and emphasize their focus on enforcing immigration laws.

"In a Fox News interview on Monday, Homan underscored the importance of the policies."

"Selena Gomez is sobbing about the deportations now, but how many 'asylum seekers' did the billionaire offer to house in her 11,483 sq ft California mansion during the last 4 years?"

Selena Gomez Explains To Taylor Swift How The Federal Reserve Creates Boom And Bust Cycles Through Manipulation Of Interest Rates And Fiat Currency  (Like, satire, you know) "Taylor Swift was visibly shocked and stunned at the Golden Globes this year when Selena Gomez came over to her table to explain how the Federal Reserve causes the boom-and-bust business cycle through the central banking system's manipulation of interest rates and fiat currency.

"The moment was caught by the 37 cameras trained on Taylor Swift's table to capture her every reaction throughout the night's proceedings. In the now-viral moment which has been immortalized forever in GIF form, Taylor Swift was seen gasping in reaction to hearing for the first time that inflation, as defined by Ludwig von Mises, is actually the increase in the supply of money and not the resultant increase in prices and that when central banks inflate the currency they artificially stimulate economic activity creating malinvestments."...  Babylon Bee
