The Israeli company M-Systems (in partnership with IBM) developed and manufactured the first USB flash drives available in North America.^[32] This claim is challenged by multiple companies in the following four countries who also independently developed USB technology: Singapore (Trek Technology), the People's Republic of China (PRC) (Netac Technology) and the Republic of China (Taiwan).
