Hollywood ratifies Obama alliance

Thomas Lifson  "While anyone who pays attention knows that Hollywood has become source of funds, propaganda, and social ties for the progressive movement, the institutional body language was startling. It was a symbolic form of vassalage, signifying the switch of the entertainment industry from a mission of speaking truth to power (see Reagan and Bush presidencies) to one of support. We no longer tap shoulders with swords, we swoop in on the top award of the most prestigious event of the entire entertainment industry, and award it from the presidential palace."

"Loud Groans" Heard in Academy Awards Media Room When Michelle Obama Announced As Surprise Presenter

Weasel Zippers published these comments:
When Michelle Obama was introduced by Jack Nicholson most of the reporters in the media room groaned....loudly

The father of the sequester

Hope n' Change

"Simply put, the sequester was proposed by the White House in return for the ability to borrow more money than the debt limit legally allowed. And the sequester would be irrevocably triggered if Democrats didn't subsequently make intelligent spending cuts. Which, of course, they didn't and won't. Ever.
" While the administration of the actual sequester spending cuts will be handled badly, with the deliberate intention from the Whitehouse of causing maximum pain and publicity, the actual amount of spending being cut from the nation's budget is roughly equivalent to a mouse's fart in a hurricane.
" However, the real significance is that this may also be the first time that the GOP stands up to this pathological liar of a president and forces him to keep his word."

All the President’s Media  What happens when the legendary investigative reporter at The Washington Post investigates Obama and reaches findings that do not fit the pro-Obama media narrative?

20 Of The Most Embarrassing Moments In The History Of The Democrat Party

As Lucianne says:  Memorize all. You'll never lose another argument with a lib.

Townhall  "For example, one will virtually never hear that the Palmer Raids, Prohibition, or American eugenics were thoroughly progressive phenomena. These are sins America itself must atone for. Meanwhile, real or alleged “conservative” misdeeds — say McCarthyism — are always the exclusive fault of conservatives and a sign of the policies they would repeat if given power. The only culpable mistake that liberals make is failing to fight “hard enough” for their principles. Liberals are never responsible for historic misdeeds because they feel no compulsion to defend the inherent goodness of America. "Conservatives, meanwhile, not only take the blame for events not of their own making that they often worked the most assiduously against, but find themselves defending liberal misdeeds in order to defend America herself. -- Jonah Goldberg

CNN Critical of MSNBC’s Hiring of Axelrod, Gibbs

Washington Free Beacon  "CNN’s Reliable Sources was critical of MSNBC’s hiring of former Obama officials David Axelrod and Robert Gibbs, calling it ‘propaganda.’"

Weasel Zippers says, "You know MSNBC has gone over the edge when even CNN accuses them of pushing “propaganda.” "  Video

Leaked Memo Show Soros-Funded Leftist Group Advising Hiring Private Investigators To Go After Republicans, “Eviscerate” Conservative Government…

Weasel Zippers  "Describing the control Republicans hold on North Carolina state government, it gave progressives a list of recommendations. Among them:
• “Crippling their leaders (McCrory, Tillis, Berger etc.).”
• “Eviscerate the leadership and weaken their ability to govern.”
• “Pressure McCrory at every public event.”
• “Slam him when he contradicts his promises.”
• “Private investigators and investigative reporting, especially in the executive branch…”

Matthews: Fast and Furious investigation is racist

Matthews is a real piece of work.
The Examiner   "MSNBC host Chris Matthews, a former Jimmy Carter aide, suggested that the congressional investigation into Attorney General Eric Holder’s handling of Operation Fast and Furious is motivated by racism.
“I don’t want to start too much forest fire here but it is my instinct: is this ethnic?” Matthews asked San Francisco Mayor Willie Brown last night. “It smells like it to me and I think there is a disdain on the part of some Republicans . . . that do talk down to the president and his friends,” Matthews added.
"Brown, earlier in the segment, had already accused Issa of “leading a lynch-like mob” against Holder."

Democrats, on the other hand, are noble and operate on a higher plane than do Republicans.

MSNBC, Other Liberal Media Use Another Selectively Edited Video-This Time Smearing John McCain  "The video shows Caren Teves, whose son was killed when spree killer James Holmes attacked a midnight showing of The Dark Knight Rises, asking the senator about assault weapons. “These weapons don’t belong on our streets,” she says.
"The video then cuts to McCain responding by saying, “I can tell you right now you need some straight talk. That assault weapons’ ban will not pass the congress of the United States.”
"However, a simple YouTube search finds the full video, uploaded by user “PoliticoMafioso,” of Senator McCain’s town hall meeting, including his entire response to Caren Teves’s question:"....

Whoa: Columbine Survivor Pens Powerful Letter to Obama on Gun Rights  "This open letter is a must-read -- not only for the case it lays out, but because of its author's personal history (click through for the full, unedited missive):"
The evidence is very clear pertaining to the inadequacies of the assault weapons ban. It had little to no effect when it was in place from 1994 until 2004. It was during this time that I personally witnessed two fellow students murder twelve of my classmates and one teacher. The assault weapons ban did not deter these two murderers, nor did the other thirty-something laws that they broke....

".As an Ilion local official noted, “Remington is not only a major employer, but it’s a historic employer. It’s been part of our very fiber for 200 years.” "

Blackfive; Guns and Coffee at Starbucks "In the 12 states with unfettered rights to “open carry” a gun, including Virginia, and the 16 others that are mostly open carry, Starbucks has rebuffed attempts by gun control activists to keep guns out of the national coffee shop chain. "
Michael Ledeen; Shut Up or I’ll Kill You   "The protectors have it half-backwards, at the very least. It’s fine and dandy to provide security for those at risk, but the “hate speech” rules and laws give wrongheaded protection — moral and political protection — to those who incite violence against their critics. Nobody, and no group, should be sheltered from criticism, even vulgar criticism. Not Jews, not Muslims, not neocons, not liberals. Nobody. As it is currently played, the free speech game is wildly biased in favor of those demanding that their critics be silenced or punished.
"These are the fruits of the wrongheaded doctrine of multiculturalism, the misguided notion that all cultures are equally worthy of respect — especially those that attack the core values of Western civilization."

From NRO: The little-reported side of the sequester

Even with the sequester, the 2013 budget will be larger than last year’s. Is that really doomsday?   "Any day now we can expect White House spokesman Jay Carney to take to the podium and read a prepared statement: “And when he opened the seventh seal, there was a small decrease in the rate of increase in federal spending.” "....

What Kind of Cuts Grow the Economy?  "Spending reductions must be large, credible, and politically difficult to reverse."

The Great Sequester Panic  "The sequester may be bad policy, but it’s not going to tank our economy."
Political Cartoons by Bob Gorrell
Larry Kudlow; The Pro-Growth Sequester; No, it’s not Armageddon.  "The Obama administration is whipping up hysteria over the sequester budget cuts and their impact on the economy, the military, first providers, and so forth and so on. Armageddon. But if you climb into the CBO numbers for 2013, you see a much lighter and easier picture than all the worst-case scenarios being conjured up by the administration.

Sandra Fluke: “We Still Don’t Let Transgender Folks Join the Military, That Needs to Change”

And they call conservatives extremists!

Gateway Pundit   "The genius of the far left in action…"While not out vacationing in Europe or asking her fellow Americans to pay for her $9 a month birth control, liberal darling Sandra Fluke is out giving speeches on college campuses these days."

Sandra Fluke has brought her unique insights to bear on U.S. military policy, while teaming up again with Planned Parenthood to support the HHS mandate.
Last week, Fluke told a California college that Barack Obama’s repeal of the “Don’t Ask, “Don’t Tell” policy did not go far enough, because it did not include transgender soldiers.
“We still don’t let trans-folk join the military,” Fluke told a gathering at Claremont McKenna College on February 13. “That needs to change.”
Service in the military, she said, should be open to the entire “the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and questioning” population, according to the Daily Caller.

"Trans-folk"?

Bullying the Boy Scouts

Richard Larsen  "It may not be surprising to some that groups and organizations across the country that are so openly opposed to “bullying” are so adept at it. Politically correct groups advancing the same-sex agenda are pervasive in their denunciation of bullying against those who are “different” yet seem to have mastered the practice against those who don’t share their beliefs. The recently announced review of the Boy Scouts of America policies, which reject avowed homosexuals from membership, provides a case study in collective bullying and intimidation of a quality organization dedicated to instilling character in its members."
....
"Rather than create their own programs based on their own “values,” morally relativistic organizations seek to destroy that which is good; based on solid, everlasting principles. Their success in forcing their conformist political correctness is unraveling the social mores of our cultural fabric, strand by strand."
AP award winning columnist Richard Larsen is President of Larsen Financial, a brokerage and financial planning firm in Pocatello, Idaho, and is a graduate of Idaho State University with a BA in Political Science and History and former member of the Idaho State Journal Editorial Board

Priest pedophilia not linked to celibacy: Pope's No.2  "It is homosexuality, not celibacy, that is linked to pedophilia, the Vatican's Secretary of State Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone said on Monday, seeking to defuse the sex scandal that has battered the Roman Catholic Church." Queerty disagrees, of course.

How Should We Treat American Jihadists?

Andrew C. McCarthy  "If a plane full of 200 American citizens is hijacked by foreign jihadists, the law does not tell us whether the president should shoot down the plane or let it be plowed into a skyscraper and kill 3,000 American citizens. It is the kind of excruciating decision that war makes necessary. Legal niceties do not tell us how to resolve it.
Above; American who should have been read his rights
"That is the problem with our debate over the treatment of U.S. nationals who join the enemy’s forces in wartime — most urgently, over the targeted killing of our fellow citizens. We want the legal answer. But the legal answer is not going to help us. Under the Constitution, Americans who join the enemy may lawfully be treated like the enemy, which includes being attacked with lethal force. That, however, tells us only the outer limits of what is permissible. It does not tell us what we need to know: What should we do?"    Emphasis added.
Andrew C. McCarthy is a senior fellow at the National Review Institute and the executive director of the Philadelphia Freedom Center. He is the author, most recently, of Spring Fever: The Illusion of Islamic Democracy, which is published by Encounter Books.
