WaPo  "Masked gunmen opened fire Wednesday in the offices of a French satirical newspaper known for provocative content on Islam, killing at least 12 people and then escaping after carrying out the country’s bloodiest terrorist attack in decades.

"France immediately was put on its highest security alert amid a massive manhunt for the three suspected assailants who stormed the newspaper Charlie Hebdo — where the Arabic cry of “Allahu Akbar” could be heard amid the gunfire, according to video posted by France’s state-run broadcaster.

"Across Paris, meanwhile, security was stepped up at media outlets, transportation hubs and other key sites. The attack also is likely to raise calls for tougher crackdowns on suspected extremists." ...

Shocking video of Charlie Hebdo attack (Before it gets pulled off)
"You can hear cries of “Allahu Akbar” in video now available online of what appears to be the sophisticated attack on Charlie Hebdo. If the Obama administration applies the same criteria it used on the Fort Hood attack, it will advise the French government to call this “workplace violence.”

"The Weekly Standard has provided access to the videos, embedded below:

White House couldn’t be sure at first if Paris bloodshed was a ‘terrorist attack’
... "By failing to call this a terrorist attack immediately, the White House was displaying cowardice. They demonstrated the fear that they might offend with the use of the term “terrorism.” It is the same impulse that leads others to dig deep within themselves to seek out a kernel of sympathy for militant Islamists who appeal to violence in order to seek satisfaction for their hurt feelings. Remorselessness, not sympathy, is what is demanded in this moment. Clearly, the White House was not prepared to meet posterity’s expectations this morning."

How Charlie Hebdo Became A Top Terrorist Target   "In February 2006 French satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo published a series of 12 cartoons depicting the Prophet Muhammad which had been featured in the Nordic daily Jyllands-Posten the previous year. The Danish publication triggered anti-Danish protests across the Muslim world. It was the start of the story that would ultimately lead to the magazine becoming a prime terrorist target."
...
"Today, the Charlie Hebdo story took a gruesome turn as two gunmen burst into its offices and shot dead at least 12 people. They shouted "we have avenged the prophet!" according to Sky News. "   M
