Why Do Leftists Still Love Masks? Mask mandates are about control — not health.

The American Spectator

Sanders is a control freak. So are those who like to mandate masks during a pandemic. Their goal is to induce in the masses a readiness to accept the dictates of a left-wing ruling class. It’s all about nurturing compliance, having nothing to do with public health.

"On March 24, anti-Jewish protesters showed up at Columbia University chanting, “Long live the intifada.” Many were wearing masks, and speakers urged students to follow suit. But wearing a mask while protesting has been illegal in New York City since 1845. It was later used to combat the Ku Klux Klan. Today, it is invoked to combat supporters of left-wing pro-Hamas terrorists. (RELATED: Ban Face Masks: Our Safety Requires It)

"It is easy to understand why the pro-Hamas gang likes to wear a mask: they want to conceal their identity from the police. But what explains why those on the left are fond of wearing a mask for alleged health reasons?

"Recently, Sen. Bernie Sanders, a professed socialist and communist sympathizer, urged supporters in Denver to show up at a rally wearing masks. His request had nothing to do with protecting their anonymity; it was a throwback to his mask advocacy during the pandemic.

"Even during COVID, his plea would have made no sense — the event was outside. But that didn’t matter. Sanders loves masks. Three years after COVID, at the State of the Union in 2023, he was the only Congressman to show up wearing a KN95 Mask.

"Today, four percent of Americans still wear masks when going to stores and other businesses. Who are they? A recent Pew Research survey revealed that they are mostly Democrats. This explains why the majority of Republicans (62 percent) said that during the pandemic, there should have been fewer restrictions, but only a few Democrats (15 percent) agree. The conclusion is inescapable: those on the left like masks. (RELATED: The CDC Inadvertently Outs the Mask Cult)

"This is consistent with what we learned during the pandemic. A 2021 survey of college students, who are much more likely to be taught by Bernie Sanders-like professors than Donald Trump-like professors, found that eight-in-10 favored mask mandates for indoor settings. In 2022, dozens of students walked out of class at the University of Nevada, Reno, to protest the repeal of the mask mandate. But why? Why would students demand that they be ordered to mask up?

"There is something weird going on here. These same students would scream bloody murder if they were ordered not to have an abortion or not to take drugs. They would insist on bodily autonomy." . . .

No, CBS, Maryland is not part of El Salvador

Don Surber

"Dear CBS: Maryland is not part of El Salvador." . . .

. . ."I realize your propaganda machine foams at the mouth over the thought of President Trump but just as biology does not allow you to magically turn a man into a woman, so geography does not allow you to call a citizen of El Salvador a Maryland man.
"The person in question arrived here illegally and was deported to his homeland—El Salvador, not Maryland—as required by law.
"I realize, CBS, that Presidents Bush (both of them), Clinton, Obama and Biden ignored and openly defied the law with Biden serving as a human trafficker flying about a half million illegals and depositing them in places that have not declared themselves to be sanctuaries for these lawbreakers.
"But President Trump is enforcing the law because the rule of law that CBS lectured on us for four years concerning Democrat lawfare against Donald Trump also applies to Kilmar Abrego Garcia—the illegal alien the USA just deported to his homeland and other people who actually commit real crimes.
"Your reporting overlooks Dan Moynihan’s admonition: “Everyone is entitled to his own opinion, but not his own facts.”
* * *
"There. I got that off my chest. Now for the story of how Trump’s return of Abrego Garcia to his native country became a national story because Judge Paula Xinis said his deportation was a mistake." . . .

President Of El Salvador Nayib Bukele Helps Trump Troll Media  . . ."Yes, it took three writers to type up the article: “Trump’s new favorite authoritarian is helping him sidestep court orders”. The sub is “El Salvador President Nayib Bukele is urging Trump to emulate his iron-fisted playbook.” Hmmmm. For the last decade, the legacy media has been telling us Trump’s dictatorial instincts were all his own. Now, writers Kyle Cheney, Josh Gerstein and Hassan Ali Kanu assert that Trump needs a back-up dictator to give him the cojones to dictate. Here are the opening paragraphs of the piece of ****
Though Trump has long admired foreign authoritarians, El Salvador President Nayib Bukele’s repressive regime is in some ways the beta test for Trump 2.0. Bukele calls himself the “world’s coolest dictator.” Trump said he would be a dictator on Day 1. And Trump has floated or deployed many of the same tactics Bukele used to consolidate power: removing judges, intimidating political adversaries, bypassing due process and evading term limits.

Whitmer Explains What Was Going Through Her Mind When She Hid Her Face in Oval Office

Gretchen Whitmer Sneaks Into White House Again  Babylon Bee

. . ."When asked about Whitmer's return this morning, President Trump did not confirm his guest's identity. "We had a great conversation, whoever she was," he told reporters. "My people told me I had a meeting, and in comes this person wearing a set of curtains. Like a black ghost. That's what she looked like. But she wasn't scary, she was actually very nice. A nice black ghost, whoever she was."
"The burqa-clad visitor left the White House without speaking to reporters.
"At publishing time, rumors circulated that Whitmer was planning to have herself enclosed in a wooden crate and shipped via air freight to the White House for her next meeting with President Trump."

Whitmer Explains What Was Going Through Her Mind When She Hid Her Face in Oval Office  "Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer opened up about what was going through her mind after a photo of her hiding her face in the Oval Office went viral.

"Speaking at the [Detroit] Economic Club on Monday, Whitmer said the only reason she picked up the folders was that she didn’t want her picture taken. “That’s all it was,” she said." . . .

What's Going on Near Plano, TX? Former Detective Introduces Us to 'EPIC City'

Break out the "racism"accusations. My first encounter with Muslim no-go zones was in Toulon, France where we were warned to stay out of the area known as The Sullies, where non Muslims had been killed. Shore patrol was stationed at the entrance streets to keep us Americans out.

RedState

"In Europe, the result of the refusal to assimilate into a country's culture by many Muslim immigrants is on full display. "No-go zones," in predominantly Muslim areas that are openly hostile to the natural-born citizens of a country, especially Jewish citizens, are well documented across Europe. If this is happening in Texas, it can happen elsewhere in the U.S."

North Texas faith leaders condemn Abbott's EPIC City investigations | FOX 4 Dallas-Fort Worth

"We have heard it time and again: America is a nation of immigrants. We pride ourselves on the fact that millions of people from all over the world have seen America, as Ronald Reagan said, as the "shining city on a hill," the place where they could find a better life for themselves and their families. But something is happening. The immigrants of the last century came to America because they wanted to assimilate into American culture. They wanted to become Americans. Now, there is no such intention. And in one case, isolation, not assimilation, appears to be the goal.

"On Sunday night, Fox News Host Mark Levin, on his show "Life, Liberty, and Levin," had on as his guest former Plano, Texas detective, now private investigator Douglas Deaton. Deaton came on to tell Levin about a very curious proposal that could happen in Plano. The proposal is for a massive 400-plus acre development called "EPIC City." What's the problem with EPIC City? Potentially, a lot.

"For starters, the "EPIC" in EPIC City is an acronym that stands for "East Plano Islamic Center." Deaton explained that the Center is already in existence. There are already some 74 single-family homes near a large mosque in East Plano, a suburb of Dallas. The proposal is for a massive 402-acre expansion of the site, which would contain around 1,000 homes and other mixed-use developments. However, the fear is that the true nature of this site is for it to become an exclusive Muslim-only community. Deaton went on to say that this fear has been brought about by the development's own promotional materials.

"But an even bigger problem than the massive growth of the site is talk that the idea behind EPIC City would be a Sharia law-only community. Deaton says that those behind the Islamic Center deny that both publicly and through attorneys. However, EPIC is working with something called the UIF Corporation, which has on its website a Sharia-compliant Supervisory Board. UIF also has an office at the current Islamic Center. It gets better; a past UIF Corporation president is a co-founder of the Yaqeen Institute for Islamic Research, which Deaton describes as "very, very serious about making sure that Sharia has a seat at the table when it comes to reimagining Islam in the West.' " . . .

No Go Zones: How Sharia Law Is Coming to a Neighborhood Near You:  "No Go Zones. That's what they're called. And while the politically correct try to deny their existence, the shocking reality of these "No Go Zones"—where Sharia law can prevail and local police stay away—can be attested to by its many victims.

"Now Raheem Kassam, a courageous reporter and editor at Breitbart, takes us where few journalists have dared to tread—inside the No Go Zones, revealing areas that Western governments, including the United States, don't want to admit exist within their own borders.

"With compelling reporting, Kassam takes you into Islamic areas you might not even know existed—communities, neighborhoods, and whole city districts from San Bernardino, California, (a No Go Zone of the mind) to Hamtramck, Michigan (essentially an Islamic colony in the Midwest); from Malmö, Sweden, to the heart of London, England—where infidels are unwelcome, Islamic law is king, and extremism grows.

"In
No Go Zones, Kassam reveals:

  • How in No Go Zones a blind eye is being turned to polygamy, female genital mutilation, sexual assault, segregation, and even honor killings
  • Why Muslim ghettos in the West aren't the equivalent of Little Italy or Chinatown, but a serious cultural and political threat
  • How the welfare state actually funds and supports a Muslim subculture of resentment
  • How to identify extremist mosques
  • A matter of numbers: how mass migration could transform Europe into a Muslim-dominated continent within our own lifetimes
  • The alarming speed at which No Go Zones are coming to America

"Compelling in its reporting, shocking in its detail, Raheem Kassam's No Go Zones is one of the most frightening true stories you will read this year."

Cornyn asks DOJ to investigate whether proposed Muslim-focused community violates federal law    "Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX) is asking the Department of Justice to open a civil rights investigation into a proposed Muslim-focused community development in Josephine, Texas.

"In a letter to the Justice Department sent Friday, Cornyn asked the agency to investigate whether the community, which would cater to Texas’s Muslim population, would violate the constitutional rights of Jewish and Christian residents by prohibiting them from living in the community and discriminating against them." . . .  Sadly, the full article is behind a paywall.

Liberal Women Go to Space, Somehow Manage to Come Back Even More Insufferable

Bonchie; RedState

"What in the pagan nonsense is "that strong, divine feminine?" If we're just making up fake gods, at least come up with a better name. Regardless, for all this "I am woman, hear me roar" stuff, it should be noted that this was an automated amusement ride."

Broc Smith

"An all-female "crew" went to space on Monday courtesy of Jeff Bezos and his "Blue Origin" rocket. Among them were singer Katy Perry and left-wing anchor Gayle King, and somehow, both women managed to return to earth even more insufferable than before.

"The pretentiousness of this quote from Perry is off the charts.

"I think that it's not about me, it's not about singing my songs, it's about a collective energy in there," Perry said afterward. "It's about making space for future women, and taking up space and belonging, and it's about this wonderful world that we see right out there and appreciating it. This is all for the benefit of Earth."

"Is that Perry speaking or Kamala Harris? Because I couldn't tell for a moment there. I've also been reliably informed that any unnecessary release of carbon emissions is an awful tragedy that must be avoided. Yet, here are six very wealthy women producing more than most people will in a year for what amounted to an 11-minute joy ride. Perry claims it was for the "benefit of the Earth," though.

"How, exactly? I have no idea, but from what I can gather, she believes she did something incredible for women everywhere. Youth football coaching legend Three Year Letterman was more than happy to roast her for the following narcissistic hilarity." . . .
