2011 Christmas in Gettysburg photos

Gettysburg Daily    "Because of the poor weather yesterday, today we’ll be looking at a few miscellaneous photographs taken around the town square after sunset yesterday evening. Today promises to be sunnier and warmer in Gettysburg as we approach the holiday weekend."  Numerous other contemporary photos at this site.
After walking down Chambersburg Street a bit, we decided to head north up Baltimore Street … This view
was taken at approximately 5:00 PM on Wednesday, December 21, 2011.

Life and the Civil War; 19th Century Christmas "On this page is a small representation of how some Americans in the 19th Century viewed Christmas. ....Each individual scene depicts an aspect of holiday life, beliefs, and traditions during that era. They represent hopes, fears, triumphs, and tragedies of another time. The theme of the scenes on the left correspond to the scene across from it on the right."...

@Bill:

Speaking of civil war and the holidays - on my blog one of the most popular topics are articles on civil war - The SECOND U.S. Civil War that is brewing in the Tea Pot even as I type these lines.

Ronbo blogs at the Freedom Fighter's Journal: http://ronbosoldier.blogspot.com/.
He sees a more bitter and antagonistic schism in America between socialists vs the right than others do or that I would like to, however:
I must admit that we can see a violent tendency in the left; the vandalism by "Occupy" crowds, the use of physical force when conservatives try to speak publicly, the shutting down of conservative opinion on campus and the new, intimidating tactics encouraged by unions. It is exhibited by the divisive demagoguery of Obama, Congressional Democrats and their yokefellows in the press who sympathize openly with this anger.
Violence is justified by TV personalities including Tavis Smiley, Cornell West, many academics (Ward Churchill's name ring a bell?)along with union rank and file(remember the Wisconsin capitol building occupation?).
I'm sorry for having a morbid view, but as the crime shows say, "go where the evidence takes you".
Ronbo sees angry retaliation by the right; I see it starting with the left, but in either case, there will be a straight line connecting any violence to the words and actions of the left.
Time will tell.

Well said, Bill!

Please read my "Christmas Present For The President"

This is the first entry for my free Internet novel, "The White Rose" where a civilian/military resistance group attempt a putsch against the presidency.

...And like all good fiction has a firm foundation in what is happening for real even as I type these lines.
