Reading list about the Tuesday RNC

NRO; Chris Christie: The Statesman  "He may be a YouTube sensation, best known for arguing with lefty hecklers, but Governor Chris Christie’s keynote speech late Tuesday was a temperate oration, forceful yet muted."   Text of Christie's speech.

Rick Moran; A subdued Keynote address from Christie  "This was obviously the way Romney wanted it -- a risky strategy considering that the Obama campaign has all but accused the GOP nominee of being a murderer, a felon, a tax dodge, and a greedy rich guy who enjoys putting ordinary folk out of work."  Please! Not another McCain campaign!

Christie says, "Enough is enough!"  "Then he launched into his attack, which was an attack on the character of President Obama as much as an attack on his policies."

Ann Coulter Upset Chris Christie Did Not Attack Obama "Though he received a standing ovation for lines like "they believe in teachers unions, we believe in teachers," Christie's language was immediately criticized for being too generic."
Larry Kudlow; The Star of Last Night Was Ann Romney "She described her work with, and empathy for, those less fortunate. Her description of Mitt as the man who “will not fail” was a terrific line."   Text of Ann Romney's speech

Reuters; In high-stakes convention speech, Ann Romney connects

PJ Media; Ann Romney: Mitt ‘Is the Man America Needs’  "She criticized those who have chided Romney for his wealth. “Are those really the values that made this country great?” she said. “Do we want to raise our children to be afraid of success?”

Meanwhile, Democrats teach us about civility: Obama jokes about the Republicans

When Tolerance Attacks: The Death Wish Double Standard  "The message here seems clear: In the name of Tolerance, you must conform - or else!"

Artur Davis Electrifies RNC   "Former Rep. Artur Davis (D-AL), the man who gave one of the nomination speeches for President Barack Obama before becoming a Republican and moving to Virginia, spoke tonight at the Republican National Committee, where he electrified the crowd with a spectacular attack on the presidency of Barack Obama."

ABC News: Romneys ‘Happy to Have a Party When Black People Drown’ "The anti-Romney joke was made while the person, presumably an ABC News producer, was on an active microphone, apparently unaware that his/her quips against the former Massachusetts governor were being recorded and broadcast live."
Leftist press is contemptible;
Pathetic: MSNBC Cuts Speeches Given by Minorities at RNC From Coverage "To fuel their false "GOP is racist" argument, MSNBC conveniently cut every speech given by a minority from their RNC coverage tonight. Francesca Chambers at Red Alert has the evidence:
Via Lucianne. Excellent commentary on this at Mediaite

Weasel Zippers; Congressional Black Caucus Attacks Former Dem Artur Davis For Supporting Romney…  Read their letter of reprimand and see the signatures for yourself.

Haters Hack Mia Love’s Wiki Page And Call Her A House “N”  (Offensive, but I want you to see what Obama supporters do)

Political Cartoons by Lisa Benson
The Weekly Standard; The Rabbi and the Governor  "You have called us to be a beacon of freedom to the world, and an ally of free countries like the state of Israel, an island of liberty, democracy, and hope."

Peggy Noonan; Ann Romney and Chris Christie  "[Delegates] walked out like people who weren’t quite sure what to think or how to feel but were hoping for the best because they love their country. A lot."

Rick Moran; Ann Romney a winner even if her husband loses   "Inasmuch as it is possible to do in 20 minutes to undo what the Obama campaign has spent many months creating...."

Legal Insurrection; Ann Romney skewers that big talking phony, without mentioning his name   "He is a poser, a money-hungry power-grabbing phony who brags about how much he cares about others while lining his pockets and playing people off against each other to advance himself.  I saw through his stage act early on, as the rest of the nation had the tingles."

William Sullivan; Juan Williams Spreads Democrats' Racist Narrative  "But the most hilarious thing is that, by proxy, he is suggesting that Michelle Obama just exudes this normalcy that Ann Romney lacks."

Jennifer Rubin; What if the GOP diversified and no one noticed?  "Over time, a more diverse country will require a more diverse GOP, if it hopes to remain a national party. Republicans are convinced that the party’s policies are the best solution to poverty, inequality and other societal ills. The appeal of those policies to non-white, non-male voters will be tested, with more effective messengers than the party has produced in a very long time."
Tony Branco

Doug Powers; If last night’s GOP convention seemed to have a stunning lack of diversity…
…you were probably watching MSNBC:  (Hat tip to Michelle Malkin)

  • When popular Tea Party candidate Ted Cruz, the GOP nominee for Senate, took the stage, MSNBC cut away from the Republican National Convention and the Hispanic Republican from Texas’ speech.
  • MSNBC stayed on commercial through former Democratic Rep. Artur Davis’ speech, as well. Davis, who recently became a Republican, is black.
  • Then, when Puerto Rican Governor Luis Fortuno’s wife Luce’ Vela Fortuño took the stage minutes later, MSNBC hosts Rachel Maddow and Chris Matthews opted to talk over the First Lady’s speech.
  • And Nevada Gov. Brian Sandoval? Noticeably missing from MSNBC, too.
  • Mia Love, a black candidate for Congress in Utah, was also ignored by MSNBC.
