Tonight's State of the Union; Like Waiting on the Dentist

Do you have my same sense of dread over tonight's SOTU speech? Like when you wait for the IRS to tell you what must be done for them to forgive your tax problems. TD

President Obama will deliver his annual State of the Union address to a joint session of Congress in the House Chamber of the U.S. Capitol tonight. He plans to open by announcing that the State of the Union is strong. It's always a good idea to start out your speech with a good joke to get the crowd on your side.   Argus Hamilton
We Already Know What Obama Will Say Tonight  "Rick Klein: “The ‘spoilers’ strategy may sap what’s left of the drama of anticipation around Tuesday night’s State of the Union. But that drama has been dissipating naturally anyway – and that’s why the White House has to be pleased with the way it’s gotten items off the laundry list and into display cases.  The community-college proposal, the president’s tax plan, the new paid-leave policy – these are all in the political bloodstream now. If we first learned of them Tuesday night, maybe one or two plans total would be expected to get traction. Maybe none of these things end up happening.' ”
Interested in national security? Serious about foreign policy? If so, watching the speech tonight will be a colossal waste of time.

Obama has worst State of the Union record since Ford, study shows  "Judging by his recent history, it doesn’t really matter what President Obama says in Tuesday’s State of the Union address — Congress is going to ignore him anyway."

Wayne Dupree:  Obama Honors Illegal Immigrants At SOTU While He Does What?. . .  "Catie Quinn made the mistake of following the rules. She submitted the proper paperwork when she entered the country, jumped through the necessary hoops to get her visa renewed, and for some reason the Obama administration has chosen her to be their token deportee.

"People have advised her she could stay if she married an American, but Catie refuses to cheat the system.

Jim Gammon; Obama's massaged 'facts' "Perhaps the most telling aspect of President Obama's inability to deal with reality is in ignoring facts when he gives a speech.  He is a political animal, so enslaved to his ideology that he sees facts as irrelevant to his goal, the furthering of that ideology." . . .

Hugh Hewitt; A SOTU Over Before Its Begun (Long sentence alert)  "Tonight President Obama will give a speech few Americans will watch much less remember, and it will lack even a gracious gesture such as Bush's appreciation of Pelosi. "Petulant" has been the tone of the past ten weeks, and while Bush acted within his constitutional authorities to dispatch troops to Iraq in 2007 in sufficient numbers to secure victory in Iraq, and while President Obama has acted within his constitutional authority to begin the return of those troops after his withdrawal of them gave terrorism new life and force can in the rise of ISIS, most of the news now is about a president acting domestically far beyond any established precedent in order to try desperately to stay relevant even as his Class D set of advisors manage to miss the moments --like the march in France-- that could make extend President Obama's shelf life as a force on the world and national stage."
